LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
What an absolutely amazing couple of months it has been.
The first Vapouround issue was a tremendous success and has been very well received by everyone who saw it.
Our official launch day was at the Uk Vapefest event in Shrewsbury and our team was in force to ensure that everyone got a copy.
Thanks to everyone who came up to us on the day to say ‘hi’ as it is always good to get out and meet people face-to-face.
Special thanks to everyone who told how much they enjoyed the first issue and came up with tips and suggestions for content for future issues. We always love hearing your suggestions and feedback to keep it all coming.
The past few months have been amazingly busy for us too and we have hardly had an idle moment as there was so much to get done.
We have made three visits to the USA, the ECC in Pomona - California, Vape Blast in San Antonio - Texas, Vape Summit in Houston - Texas and Vapor Dynasty in Phoenix - Arizona. We have also ventured across the Channel to France for the Paris Expo and last but not least we ventured over to China for the CECMOL Expo in Shenzhen so be sure to check out the reports on those events in this issue.
We have lots of exciting things in store for the future and we are looking forward to Vapefest Ireland which will mark the official launch of this current issue. We just know that event is going to be a blast.
There has also been some very big news from the UK recently with the publication of a major report into vaping by Public Health England.
This report should go a long way into helping raise awareness about e-cigarettes and the health benefits of switching to vaping from smoking traditional cigarettes. Again this report is covered extensively in this magazine because it is such an important issue right now.
So enjoy what we have got in store for you in this bumper issue and happy vaping.

PUBLIC HEALTH ENGLAND VAPING REPORT
Running to 113 pages it addresses one of the most pressing and controversial issues in public health at the moment the twin topics of the harm caused by smoking traditional cigarettes and the potential benefits of switching to vaping instead.
It points out what might seem like an obvious, but is nevertheless a very important point to make when it comes to public health: “e-cigarettes do not contain tobacco, do not create smoke and do not rely on combustion.”
In the decade since e-cigarettes first hit the UK market around 5% of the population now use them and the overwhelming majority of those are former smokers and recent former smokers.
Regular use of e-cigarettes by members of the population who have never smoked is ‘rare’ according to the report’s findings. Specifically the report found that: Around one in 20 adults in England (and Great Britain) use electronic cigarettes and they are almost exclusively smokers (~60%) or ex-smokers (~40%).
Only a tiny number of people who have never smoked use e-cigarettes - around 0.2% of all vapers.
Overall, the adult and youth data suggest that, despite some experimentation with electronic cigarettes amongst those who have never smoked, electronic cigarettes are attracting few people who have never smoked into regular use.
Since electronic cigarettes were introduced to the market, cigarette smoking among adults and youth has declined. In adults, overall nicotine use has also declined (not assessed for youth).
These findings, to date, suggest that the advent of electronic cigarettes is not undermining, and may even be contributing to, the long-term decline in cigarette smoking.
The report says there are still more than eight million smokers in England and says: “For those who continue to smoke regularly, much of their lives will be of lower quality and spent in poorer
health than those who don’t smoke, and they will have a one in two chance of dying prematurely, by an average of 10 years, as a direct result of their smoking.
“Smoking is therefore the largest single contributor to health inequalities as well as remaining the largest single cause of preventable mortality and morbidity in England.
“Moving forward, it is therefore important to maintain and enhance England’s comprehensive tobacco control strategy in order to motivate and support all smokers in society to stop smoking as quickly as possible, and prevent the recruitment of new smokers.
“All experts agree that a well-resourced comprehensive strategy, involving cessation, prevention and harm reduction should make the goal of a smoke-free society in England quickly achievable.”
The report goes on to explain that e-cigarettes can be very useful when it comes to helping people quit smoking.
The report says: “Smoking is increasingly concentrated in disadvantaged groups who tend to be more dependent. EC potentially offer a wide reach, low-cost, intervention to reduce smoking and improve health in disadvantaged groups.
“Recent studies support…findings that electronic cigarettes can help people to quit smoking and reduce their cigarette consumption.
“There is also evidence that electronic cigarettes can encourage quitting or cigarette consumption reduction even among those not intending to quit or rejecting other support.”
In a section called ‘Reasons for using e-cigarettes’ the report says that wanting to quit smoking and harm reduction were the top reason given by adult e-cigarette users.
With regards to labelling of e-liquids and the delivery of nicotine via e-cigarettes the report said there were currently no concerns about the labelling of nicotine content.
It said studies had found that poorly labelled e-liquid and e-cartridges mostly contained less nicotine than declared so there were no health implications of users inhaling more nicotine than they thought and said: “Electronic cigarettes used as intended poses no risk of nicotine poisoning to users, however, e-liquids should be in ‘childproof’ packaging.
As the full report runs into more than 100 pages, it contains much more information and data than can be reported here, however it can be accessed free of charge from the Public Health England website for those who want to know more.

LATEST DATA FINDS NO EVIDENCE THAT ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES ARE A GATEWAY TO SMOKING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
New research from the ASH Smokefree GB Youth Survey published in the journal Public Health, finds no evidence that young people are being recruited to smoking through their use of electronic cigarettes.
Experimentation increased over three years with 4% of 11-18 year olds saying they tried electronic cigarettes ‘once or twice’ in 2013 rising to 10% in 2015.
However, regular use of electronic cigarettes remained rare across all three years with 2.4% of young people saying they use electronic cigarettes at least once a month in 2015. Almost all of those reporting regular use were young people who had been or were currently smokers.
This occurred during a time when awareness of electronic cigarettes has increased significantly. Only 7% of 11-18 year olds were unaware of electronic cigarettes in 2015 compared with a third of young people in 2013.
The ASH study complements the most
recent Government statistics which show that the decline in the number of young people smoking has continued. In 2014, regular smoking among 11-15 year olds was at an all-time low of 3%. This indicates that an increase in awareness and use of electronic cigarettes is not coinciding with any increase in teen smokers.
The authors were concerned, however, about the increase in false perceptions about electronic cigarettes. Although most young people correctly believe that electronic cigarettes are less harmful that smoking tobacco, between 2013 and 2015 the proportion believing that the electronic devices are as equally as harmful increased from 11% to 21%.
In 2015 the survey also asked for the first time about the flavours young people were using. Young people who smoked were more likely to have tried tobacco flavours while fruit flavours were most popular overall.
Hazel Cheeseman, Director of Policy at
ASH commented:
“These results should reassure the public that electronic cigarettes are not linked with any rise in young people smoking. Although more young people are trying electronic cigarettes and many more young people are aware of them, this has not led to widespread regular use or an increase in smoking.”
Prof Kevin Fenton, National Director for Health and Wellbeing at Public Health England said:
“This survey provides further confirmation that regular use of electronic cigarettes is still low and largely confined to young people who are already smokers. The new law prohibiting the sale of electronic cigarettes to young people under the age of 18 - which is due to take effect on 1 October – will further reduce teenagers’ access to these products and will reinforce the message that they are intended for adult smokers who want to cut down or stop smoking.”
ASH welcomes clarity from Public Health England on the safety of electronic cigarettes
ASH welcomes clarity from Public Health England on the safety of electronic cigarettes
Health charity ASH has welcomed the clear advice about electronic cigarettes issued by Public Health England (PHE). A review of the evidence published by PHE shows that electronic cigarettes offer a much safer alternative to smoking and more should be done to encourage smokers to switch.
In light of this review PHE have, for the first time, published their advice on an appropriate approach to electronic cigarettes for the Government, local authorities and the NHS.
Ash chief executive Deborah Arnott said: “This timely statement from Public Health England should reassure health professionals, the media, and the public, particularly smokers, that the evidence is clear: electronic cigarettes are very much less harmful than smoking.
“Quitting completely will always be the
best option, and regulation is essential as the market evolves to ensure smokers have access to the safest most effective products, and that uptake by neversmokers remains low.
“However, if every smoker switched overnight to electronic cigarettes many hundreds of thousands of premature deaths would be prevented in the years to come.”
The popularity of electronic cigarettes has grown enormously since they first came on the market.
ASH estimates that there are around 2.6 million regular users in Great Britain nearly all of whom are ex-smokers or smokers trying to quit or cut down.
However, there are still nearly 8 million smokers in England, many of whom would benefit from switching to electronic cigarettes, but who may have been put off doing so because of unfounded health concerns.
Data from the ASH Smokefree GB
survey published found differences in the level of understanding between those who use electronic cigarettes and those who do not.
The survey, conducted for ASH by YouGov, found that smokers who’ve never tried an electronic cigarette are 4 times less likely than ex-smokers who currently use electronic cigarettes to understand that electronic cigarettes are a lot less harmful than smoking.
Likewise ex-smokers who currently use electronic cigarettes are 3 times more likely than smokers who have never tried an electronic cigarette to understand that nicotine in a cigarette is not a significant cause of harm.
The advice from PHE that health professionals and others should seek to address misunderstandings among the public and provide accurate information to smokers is welcome and will hopefully serve to reduce misunderstanding in the future.
E-cigarettes around 95% less harmful than tobacco estimates landmark review
Key findings of the review include:
• the current best estimate is that e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking
• nearly half the population (44.8%) don’t realise e-cigarettes are much less harmful than smoking
• there is no evidence so far that e-cigarettes are acting as a route into smoking for children or non-smokers
The review, commissioned by PHE and led by Professor Ann McNeill (King’s College London) and Professor Peter Hajek (Queen Mary University of London), suggests that e-cigarettes may be contributing to falling smoking rates among adults and young people.
Following the review PHE has published a paper on the implications of the evidence for policy and practice. The comprehensive review of the evidence finds that almost all of the 2.6 million adults using e-cigarettes in Great Britain are current or ex-smokers, most of whom are using the devices to help them quit smoking or to prevent them going back to cigarettes.
It also provides reassurance that very few adults and young people who have never smoked are becoming regular e-cigarette users (less than 1% in each group).
However, the review raises concerns that increasing numbers of people think e-cigarettes are equally or more harmful than smoking (22.1% in 2015, up from 8.1% in 2013: ASH Smokefree GB survey) or don’t know (22.7% in 2015, ASH Smokefree GB survey).
Despite this trend all current evidence finds that e-cigarettes carry a fraction of the risk of smoking.
Emerging evidence suggests some of the highest successful quit rates are now seen among smokers who use an e-cigarette and also receive additional support from their local stop smoking services.
Professor Kevin Fenton, Director of Health and Wellbeing at Public Health
An expert independent evidence review published by Public Health England (PHE) concludes that e-cigarettes are significantly less harmful to health than tobacco and have the potential to help smokers quit smoking.
England said:
“Smoking remains England’s number one killer and the best thing a smoker can do is to quit completely, now and forever.
“E-cigarettes are not completely risk free but when compared to smoking, evidence shows they carry just a fraction of the harm. The problem is people increasingly think they are at least as harmful and this may be keeping millions of smokers from quitting. Local stop smoking services should look to support e-cigarette users in their journey to quitting completely.”
Professor Ann McNeill, King’s College London and independent author of the review, said: “There is no evidence that e-cigarettes are undermining England’s falling smoking rates. Instead the evidence consistently finds that e-cigarettes are another tool for stopping smoking and in my view smokers should try vaping and vapers should stop smoking entirely.
“E-cigarettes could be a game changer in public health in particular by reducing the enormous health inequalities caused by smoking.”
Professor Peter Hajek, Queen Mary University London and independent author of the review said: “My reading of the evidence is that smokers who switch to vaping remove almost all the risks smoking poses to their health. Smokers differ in their needs and I would advise them not to give up on e-cigarettes if they do not like the first one they try. It
may take some experimentation with different products and e-liquids to find the right one.”
Professor Linda Bauld, Cancer Research UK’s expert in cancer prevention, said: “Fears that e-cigarettes have made smoking seem normal again or even led to people taking up tobacco smoking are not so far being realised based on the evidence assessed by this important independent review. In fact, the overall evidence points to e-cigarettes actually helping people to give up smoking tobacco.
“Free Stop Smoking Services remain the most effective way for people to quit but we recognise the potential benefits for e-cigarettes in helping large numbers of people move away from tobacco.
“Cancer Research UK is funding more research to deal with the unanswered questions around these products including the longer-term impact.”
Lisa Surtees, acting director at Fresh Smoke Free North East, the first region where all local stop smoking services are actively promoted as e-cigarette friendly, said: “Despite making great strides to reduce smoking, tobacco is still our biggest killer. Our region has always kept an open mind towards using electronic cigarettes as we can see the massive potential health benefits from switching.
“All of our local NHS Stop Smoking Services now proactively welcome anyone who wants to use these devices as part of their quit attempt and increase their chance of success.”
Vapouround Magazine’s
Reaction to Public Health England E-Cigarette Report
Not only is this good news for the vaping community, but it has potentially massive implications for the country as a whole. We really hope it goes some way to starting a serious program of education about the whole issue of vaping and e-cigarettes.
It is encouraging that many people already recognise that e-cigarettes are a safer means of ingesting nicotine than traditional smoking.
Now with the news that a report from Public Health England, Kings College London and Queen Mary University of London, found that e-cigarettes carry just five per cent of the risk of tobacco this can only help to remove some of the myths about vaping.
PHE chief executive Duncan Selbie wrote in the forward to the report: “Many people think the risks of e- cigarettes are the same as smoking tobacco and this report clarifies the truth of this.
“In a nutshell, best estimates show e-cigarettes are 95% less harmful to your health than normal cigarettes, and when supported by a smoking cessation service, help most smokers to quit tobacco altogether.
“We believe this review will prove a valuable resource, explaining the relative risks and benefits of e-cigarettes, in terms of harm reduction when compared with cigarettes and as an aid to quitting.”
The fact that the same public health officials say that e-cigarettes should be
available on the NHS as a means to help people quit smoking is something to be applauded.
Ask any vaper and they will either tell you that vaping is the reason they quit smoking traditional cigarettes or they can point to a friend or family member who gave up because of e-cigarettes.
Now that we appear to have official recognition of this can only be a good thing but the work of educating the public cannot stop here.
This report should be seen as the beginning and more research into the health benefits of vaping as opposed to smoking should be carried out.
The findings of this new report mean that if every one of Britain’s eight million smokers switched to e-cigarettes instead then around 75,000 lives could be saved each year.
That is an astonishing statistic and this report may go some way to seeing e-cigarettes being taken more seriously as a safer alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes.
In addition we also report in this issue details of a survey which has found that there is no evidence to suggest that electronic cigarettes act as a gateway to encouraging young people to smoke.
This is also great news for the industry and these two reports should go a long way to dispelling some of the misinformation and general misunderstanding which exists about
vaping and the effects of vaping. The more information that is out there and the more research that is done can only lead to a better understanding about the vaping industry and the vaping community as a whole.
However when a body such as Public Health England shows the massive potential that vaping has to save so many lives then we all should sit up and take notice.
It is not only deaths that we need to focus on here because even if smoking does not kill you it can cause many serious chronic illnesses which can seriously impact upon a smoker’s quality of life.
We are not suggesting for a moment that vaping is the solution to the nation’s health problems but if it has the potential to save 75,000 lives each year then surely the NHS must look to e-cigarettes as a potential treatment for smoking.
The fact is that more and more people are reporting that vaping has been the only thing that has made them stop smoking. This includes many life-long smokers and people who had otherwise been smoking despite the damage it was causing to their health.
Finally it is always good to be able to use facts and figures to back up any arguments or statements on using e-cigarettes so here are seven key messages from the Public Health England 111-page report.
It is brilliant news for the vaping community that public health officials have recognised that e-cigarettes can play a huge part in saving the lives of traditional smokers.
Smokers who have tried other methods of quitting without success could be encouraged to try e-cigarettes (EC) to stop smoking and stop smoking services should support smokers using EC to quit by offering them behavioural support.
Encouraging smokers who cannot or do not want to stop smoking to switch to EC could help reduce smoking related disease, death and health inequalities.
3There is no evidence that EC are undermining the long-term decline in cigarette smoking among adults and youth, and may in fact be contributing to it. Despite some experimentation with EC among never smokers, EC are attracting very few people who have never smoked into regular EC use.
4Recent studies support the Cochrane Review findings that EC can help people to quit smoking and reduce their cigarette consumption. There is also evidence that EC can encourage quitting or cigarette consumption reduction even among those not intending to quit or rejecting other support. More research is needed in this area.
When used as intended, EC pose no risk of nicotine poisoning to users, but e-liquids should be in ‘childproof’ packaging. The accuracy of nicotine content labelling currently raises no major concerns.
There has been an overall shift towards the inaccurate perception of EC being as harmful as cigarettes over the last year in contrast to the current expert estimate that using EC is around 95% safer than smoking.
Whilst protecting non-smoking children and ensuring the products on the market are as safe and effective as possible are clearly important goals, new regulations currently planned should also maximise the public health opportunities of EC.
As everyone should be aware, the revised Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) starts taking effect from May 2016, and all products must be compliant with it by May 2017.
But what does this actually mean?
The problem is, that we still don’t really know – but what we do know is mostly bad news.
The TPD requires notification of various things to a government appointed body, and in the case of the UK, this is the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Historically, the e-cigarette industry and MHRA have not enjoyed a good working relationship, but there are some signs that this may be changing (this is the only good news in an otherwise gloomy forecast).
The list of what needs to be notified is, in theory, common across all of Europe, a ‘Common Notification Format’ (CNF). Notably, however, while the CNF requires “Name of the emission produced during the testing of the product” and “Quantity of emissions produced during the process of using the product based on the measurement method used,” there is no guidance on what emissions should be sought.
Modern analytical chemistry is very good at finding even tiny traces of chemicals in almost any kind of sample, so to keep costs and time to a reasonable level, it’s useful to know what to look for.
Without a list of such things (usually referred to as analytes of interest), the prospect is for identifying everything present in the emissions, regardless of how low the level, or if there is any perceived risk. As if that wasn’t bad enough, to give a quantity of emissions requires additional testing, and these have to be tailored to the specific chemicals being sought. The more chemicals to measure quantities of, the more expensive the testing will be, and the longer it will take.
Since the CNF doesn’t give a list of analytes of interest, it’s quite likely that each member state will create its own – making the CNF both uncommon and uncertain. So far, there is also not a UK list of analytes of interest, so we don’t even know what the UK position is.
There is worse though – the CNF also requires “Description of the measurement methods used to assess consistent dosing and nicotine uptake, including reference to the relevant approved standard, when available.”
Dose is a very fraught term with respect to electronic cigarettes – the way the product is used has almost as much bearing on the nicotine delivery as the actual nicotine content. Worse still, in the medicinal world, “dosage and uptake” is determined by Pharmacokinetic (PK) testing.
The Tobacco Products Directive and E-cigarettes – the end of a golden age?
By Tom Pruen, Chief Scientific Officer at ECITASince this is a test on people, it is expensive, with a cost upwards of £100,000 per test. Providing this for every single product would quickly become prohibitively expensive for almost every company in the market. But an alternative view (and one that was suggested to the European Commission) is to look at how much nicotine is delivered to vapour in a single defined puff. This would cost more like £1,000 per product.
The cost per product notification, therefore, depends on information that we don’t have, but could vary between a couple of thousand pounds per product (already too much for some of the smaller businesses in this market) to quarter of a million pounds (which is too much for pretty much every business in the market).
Regardless of what the scale of costs is, there is one clear outcome of this – the number of products available will fall – and fall sharply.
But it still gets worse than this – there is a TPD requirement for the tanks/atomisers to be “leak free”. What this means in practise isn’t clear, since the TPD gives responsibility to the European Commission to design a technical specification for a ‘leak free’ mechanism. The group working on this is not expected to report back until the 2nd quarter of 2016 – too late for this design to be incorporated into products prior to the TPD taking effect. It’s also entirely possible (and in fact likely) that this mechanism will be incompatible with ALL existing designs, removing all the currently available products from the market. The CNF matters here too. Notifications have to take place 6 months before placing products on the market, except for products already on the market on 20th May 2016, in which case there is a grace period until 20th November 2016. However, with the ‘leak-free’ issue, it could well be that there won’t be any existing designs that are TPD compliant, removing this exemption.
Everything that isn’t TPD compliant, and notified by 20th November 2016, has to be taken off the market by May 2017, at the latest. Will there be time to incorporate the new mechanism and get it notified by that date? We don’t, and can’t know. We don’t even know what this mechanism will look like, let alone say how easy it will be to incorporate it into existing designs. Since a product has to be notified 6 months in advance of selling it, at a considerable (but uncertain) cost, we won’t be seeing new tanks or devices with the frequency we do now.
Exactly what the e-cigarette market will look like after the TPD is uncertain, but it is implausible to think that it will have the variety and innovation we see today. The future is uncertain, but it’s looking very bleak.
HARM REDUCTION AND REDUCED RISK TOBACCO & NICOTINE PRODUCTS
Attempting to reduce the risks of conventional cigarettes remains daunting – there is clearly no such thing as a safe cigarette – but investment in other reduced-risk tobacco and nicotine products is paying dividends. Several innovative products have been developed and are evolving apace – the most recognisable of which is probably the electronic cigarette.
Several public health organisations and some regulators are now also starting to recognise the existence and possible potential of these reduced-risk products. Mitchell Zeller, Director of the Center for Tobacco Products at the US FDA, has, on several occasions, said that ‘It's not the nicotine that kills half of all long-term smokers, it’s the delivery mechanism. We have to recognise some of these realities and figure out how they can impact regulatory policy.1’
It is the toxicants in cigarette smoke that are responsible for the development of tobacco related disease. The risk of developing disease is greater in people who smoke more cigarettes per day and for longer periods. It makes sense then, that substantially reducing exposure to smoke toxicants could reduce their risk of tobacco related disease. Toxicants levels can be reduced in steps by first eliminating combustion, as in tobacco heating products; then eliminating heating entirely, as in snus, and ultimately eliminating tobacco altogether as is the case with e-cigarettes and nicotine products. By doing this, you can
start to envision different categories of product presenting different risks, with the most risky product, the conventional cigarette, at one end and the least risky product, medicinal nicotine, at the other.
It has been proposed that as you move across the categories from more harmful to less harmful products, the respective regulation of each category should recognise the difference in potential risk. According to Clive Bates, ex-Director of ASH UK and an advocate of reduced risk tobacco and nicotine products, regulation should ‘promote, rather than inhibit, innovation, diversity and competition in low risk alternatives to smoking.’ The rationale, he says, is that ‘these products become better alternatives to smoking over time, and more smokers find products that suit them. A regulatory regime should clear out cowboys, but not force a contraction to only very large companies offering a few commoditised products.’2
Some in the public health community are beginning to argue that, much like regulation is used to discourage would-be smokers from smoking, regulation should also be used to encourage those who want to use or continue to use tobacco or nicotine to use a less harmful product. The rationale is that, if these products are more innovative, accessible and cheaper than cigarettes and the potential benefits are understood, then smokers are more likely to use them.
The US is currently the only legislature to define a
process for establishing reduced exposure and risk for a potential modified risk tobacco product. But the US is not the only jurisdiction to recognise the potential of tobacco harm reduction. In the UK, for example, while there is no equivalent to the FDA Center for Tobacco Products, there is general support for tobacco harm reduction and the policy decision to promote harm reduction is seen as an important part of regulatory efforts to reduce the health burden of tobacco use.
In 2013, the UK National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) issued guidance on tobacco harm reduction. NICE is the agency that provides guidance for the UK National Health Service. At the time, Professor Mike Kelly, Director of the NICE Centre for Public Health, said: “This is the first time anywhere in the world that national guidance will endorse cutting down on smoking with the help of licensed nicotine products.”
As far as regulation goes, in the UK, electronic cigarettes are currently subject to consumer product regulation only. But there is the option to voluntarily apply to the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for a medicines licence. In 2014, the UK company Kind Consumer working with Nicovations Limited, part of the British American Tobacco group of companies, was granted a medicines licence for the Voke nicotine inhaler. Voke is not an electronic cigarette. The MHRA licence for Voke was transferred from Kind Consumer to Nicovations
in April 2015. Nicovations has an exclusive licence in respect of this technology. To date, the licence granted by the MHRA in the UK for Voke is the only one granted for a nicotine inhaler the size and shape of a cigarette. From mid-2016, electronic cigarettes containing up to 20mg/ml of nicotine will be regulated in the European Union under national implementations of the revised EU Tobacco Products Directive. Above that level, or if manufacturers or importers decide to opt into medicines regulation, such products will require a medical licence in the same way as over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). Reduced risk tobacco and nicotine products could transform the public health impact of conventional cigarettes by offering adult smokers substantially less risky tobacco and nicotine products. Tobacco harm reduction is a major potential opportunity for public health and business interests alike, but can only be delivered by products that smokers want, that work, and that are at an acceptable price, underpinned by research characterising their reduced risk potential, and supported by regulators willing to set policies to encourage the uptake of reduced risk products. As Clive Bates said: ‘In a situation where the new products are competing with a dangerous established incumbent, cigarettes, too much regulation of the wrong type can amount to a regulatory protection of the product that all agree to be the most harmful. It is imperative to avoid that error3’.
‘In a situation where the new products are competing with a dangerous established incumbent, cigarettes, too much regulation of the wrong type can amount to a regulatory protection of the product that all agree to be the most harmful’.
The Godfather vs The TPD
HOW SMALL ELIQUID MANUFACTURERS CAN SQUARE UP TO THE REGULATIONS
by Melissa MorrisSmall businesses can conquer the EU regulations. This is the call-to-action from Melissa Morris, former journalist and now a director at VaperCrew, manufacturer of The Godfather eliquid. Article 20 of The Tobacco Products Directive, and the MHRA's response to it, seems rushed and ill-conceived at best; resulting in a conflicting blend of tobacco and pharmaceutical regulations, with flaws the industry is right to challenge. There are some excellent industry advocates working on this, and hopefully common sense will prevail. For now, small businesses need to take action to ensure we can survive and succeed under the legislation.
FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL
Despite consultation efforts, the vaping industry feels sidelined, and mutterings are rife that tobacco and pharmaceutical giants are in cahoots with the government to introduce a blanket ban on anything beyond their vested interests. So how will this 'David and Golliath'-style saga play out?
We are at the start of a revolution, and revolutions are all about change - some we will instigate, others we will be subject to; some we will fight, and others we will fight for. How we perceive, react and adapt to those changes will determine the chances of survival for small businesses. If we focus on what is in our control, what we can change now to improve our chances, and apply the same logic over the next 12 months, in small stages, we might actually make it. And if we don't? Let the MHRA be the one to tell us, not our own negative self-talk before the battle has even begun.
KNOW YOUR ALLIES
Knowledge is key to gaining control of our destiny, and the TPD demands a whole lot of knowledge! Like so many other founders of small eliquid businesses, VaperCrew's founder Matt Morris is a vaping connoisseur but makes no claim to be a scientist. To fill the gap in his knowledge, he has developed a strong working relationship with EL-Science, a specialist laboratory in Peterborough. Independent laboratories are an excellent ally for small eliquid manufacturers who can't, or won't, stretch to in-house scientists and expensive testing equipment in such an uncertain market. Increasing numbers now provide basic eliquid testing and impartial advice, and are gearing up to offer the intensive analysis demanded by the MHRA. With their help, we can better understand and adapt our products, in a timely and appropriate manner, instead of staring like dazed rabbits caught in the MHRA's headlights.
SURVEY THE BATTLEFIELD
The more we exchange our knowledge - at grass roots level, with scientists, and even with the MHRA - the faster we will understand everything from safety data to flavour characteristics. Current industry perception, however, positions the EU/MHRA at one end (with a cluster of tobacco and pharmaceutical giants huddled around them) and the vast majority of us at the other. Sadly, despite achieving laudable self-regulation, many even feel forced to consider heading underground to form a black market. But is this perception logical? The lack of choice in a market consisting of one type of ecigarette and ten blandly-flavoured pharmaceutically licensed eliquids would probably lead many consumers back to smoking. The lack of registered market players, and the inevitable emergence of a black market, would mean that the analysis of any data submitted to the MHRA would be unrepresentative. It would not, therefore, be in the interests of the MHRA, or consumer safety, to wipe out the UK vaping industry.
Choose your battles
Instead of fearing the worse, we could imagine the best: a governing body with realistic costs and procedures for officially registering to manufacture eliquids as a “consumer product”, and for testing, analysis and data provision. Companies, large and small, could supply the EU/ MHRA with accurate data about the chemical composition and emissions of their eliquids, and the effects of vaping those eliquids with different types of ecigarettes. In the future, scientists could target any chemicals proven to be hazardous, and work with flavourists to adapt, remove or substitute them, with little or no effect on the overall flavour of the eliquid. That knowledge could be fed back into the industry via the MHRA, for action by other manufacturers reporting use of the same chemical –ultimately improving consumer safety and industry efficiencies. To reach such a state of utopia, where we could view foe as friend, we will need to hold our nerve while the flaws in the regulations are ironed out. That could take years. In the meantime, we must choose our battles wisely and, wherever possible, readily adapt to reasonable changes in order to preserve this passionate and innovative industry. It won't be cheap. It won't be easy. It will be tough. In the end, the TPD may prove insurmountable to small businesses, but at least we will know we put up a damn good fight; not to defeat it, but to survive and succeed as businesses compliant with it, in whatever form it eventually takes.
Six Ways to Prepare for the TPD
1. Familiarise yourself with the facts
Take time to trawl through the piles of legislation and consultation papers, and judge for yourself what matters to your business, and what you need to do, rather than worry and waste time on hearsay.
2. Stop panicking, start preparing
If you don't have faith in what you're doing, change it. You can source expertise, bottles, ingredients, labels, eliquid testing and contract manufacturing, all for a fair price, right here in the UK. Find out how, now!
3. Get serious about your business
Take out specialist 'Public, Product and Employer Liability' Insurance (brokers include Towergate Insurance and Vape Insure), carry out detailed risk assessments, and review your premises and procedures, pronto.
4. Make friends, not enemies
Network with other manufacturers, attend vaping events, and reach out to the scientific community. Now is the time to seek out allies and take positive action, together. Share knowledge, recommend and refer!
5. Sell, sell, save, save!
As yet, there is no definitive price to register an eliquid under the TPD but it is sure to be costly. For now, just sell more, budget better and spend less, until you know exactly what is required by the MHRA.
6. Prepare for the worst
Do all of the above and, if all else fails, you should have a business that might attract an investor to help you comply with the TPD. At the very least, you'll have funds to live on until you can implement Plan B.
THE RISE OF THE PACK
After successful, decade-long careers as professional poker players, Eric Turner, Matt Wiener and Kevin Thurman made the bet of a lifetime - and it paid off. Personally touched by watching friends and family struggle to quit smoking, the future owners of Wolfpack Wholesale Inc were
impressed by the successes of smokers who turned to vaping. In 2013, the three made the switch from professional poker to e-liquid manufacturing and distribution by founding Wolfpack Wholesale, Inc. “We stayed really nimble. We took large risks—educated ones,” owner Kevin Thurman notes, which has been key to
Wolfpack’s overall success. Wolfpack Wholesale Inc began out of Eric Turner’s small facility, and quickly became a leader in a wide-open and constantly evolving market. Helping individuals regain freedom and choice from cigarettes by making premium e-liquids more widely available still lies at the crux of the
Wolfpack operation. “Premium people, premium products, and premium service. We offer people the best to give them the widest range of options to make the choices that work best for them,” according to owner, Eric Turner. Owner Matt Wiener agrees, “Vapers want choice. They want high-quality options.”
Wolfpack are focused on premiumquality, American-made e-liquids, and offering unparalleled value and service to an ever-expanding family of retail partners. Wolfpack’s diverse range of premium e-liquid includes brands such as Suicide Bunny, GQ Vape, Glas and Old Fashioned Elixir. If you’ve always wanted
to bring your own e-liquid to market, you can take advantage of Wolfpack’s effective distribution model and solid marketing expertise through their Private Label Services. The vaping scene is full of passionate vapers who have embraced everything about vaping as they pursue and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Vapouround caught up with vaping DJ extraordinaire DJ Dantics who spins discs at some of the coolest vaping events around the world. Here is what he had to say.
Q: You’re passionate about vaping and music. How did this mixing of two passions come about?
A: I had been DJing and producing music long before e-cigarettes and vaping became popular in the UK. Over the last year, the two have combined very well for me, which is where I am right now. I've been lucky enough to DJ at some of the UK's biggest vaping events.
Q: How do you feel when you’re vaping and DJ-ing? Do you have any particular e-liquids you put aside for vaping whilst you’re spinning discs?
A: I love it! Blowing O's in time to music is great fun and there's no need for a
DJ Dantics
smoke machine when I'm behind the decks!
As for specific set ups whilst I am playing, I tend to just use my 'go-to set-up' which at the moment is a Sigelei 150w TC and Derringer RDA.
As for e-liquid it has to be one of my ADV's so I don’t get bored of it!
Q: How long have you been vaping for and when did you make the switch from traditional tobacco to e-cigarettes?
A: I first tried an e-cigarette 'cigalike' when my brother was working for E-Lites around three years ago.
I tried a few disposable shisha pens too, but trying to quit traditional tobacco cigarettes, using those things was hard.
I smoked my last cigarette on New Year’s Eve 2014-2015 and I haven't looked back since.
I half believe that being able to quit cigarettes using vaping is down to the fact it turned into a hobby for me. Collecting devices and e-liquids, along with enjoying the whole vaping scene in general just made it easy.
Q: Vaping is a lifestyle choice. What would you say to anyone wary of switching to e-cigarettes?
A: Read Public Health England’s new study. Look, putting anything into your lungs isn't good at the end of the day, but for PHE to publicly comment that vaping is 95% safer than tobacco cigarettes is awesome for the whole industry. Let's just hope the USA (specifically CA) takes note! A lot of my friends who still smoke cigarettes and want to try vaping are always put off by the cough or choke they get when they try it for the first time. However, you soon get used to it by picking your own set up, nicotine strength and flavours. It's all about personal preference!
Q: Can you remember what your first vape was (mod & e-liquid)?
A: I can! Apart from the cigalikes and then eGo CE4, my first proper set-up was an iStick 20w with a Kangertech Aero tank. As for the e-liquid, I remember having some 12mg Mountain Dew flavour from a local store; I still have the empty bottle somewhere!
You must be excited about launching your new line of e-liquids called Evil Cloud. Tell us a little bit more about your range.
Yeah I'm super hyped! We launched at VapeFest inside the Midlands Vaping marquee to an amazing response and sold out within 2½ hours! The four key flavours (PBD, Blush Formula, Yellow Belly and Jungle Bake) are all available from www.evilcloud.co.uk in either 3mg or 6mg and come in a 30ml twist top bottle.
How do you find the vaping scene which is famed for its massive, interactive community?
It is absolutely thriving right now and it's only going to get bigger and better. New e-liquids and devices are coming out every day. An increasing number of people are making the switch from traditional tobacco cigarettes and you only need to attend a vape meet or event to see how passionately vapers feel about the whole scene.
You recently turned 26. What do you think the vaping scene will look like in 10 years’ time?
Wow, hopefully better than what I look like in 10 years time! On a serious note, all the upcoming regulations may change everything. PHE's announcement may be good for the vaping industry right now, but for the future it may change the vaping lifestyle we know and love today.
You attend vaping expos and vaping events to provide cool tunes for vapers. Are there any specific tunes or particular crowd-pleasers that you could recommend?
Everyone has different tastes, however, that being said, a lot of influence comes from the USA and vaping events from across the pond. Trap is big in the trick and cloud video scene. If I had to pick one tune that gets everyone hyped it would probably be Major Lazer – Original Don (Flosstradamus Remix).
How do you want people to feel when they’re vaping and listening to your tunes?
If it's at a vape event then I want them to feel hyped and excited. If they're kicking back at home then it's best to be chilled.
Where do you DJ and how can people get in touch with you to DJ at their vape events?
I have been lucky enough to DJ in Los Angeles twice, Spain and also around the UK. The best way to get in touch with me is by email (dantics@live. co.uk). To check out my music visitwww. soundcloud.com/dantics.
Describe yourself and your company in three words. Creative, individual, dynamic.
Vapouround looks forward to hearing more from DJ Dantics and we wish him all the best with his DJ and e-liquid venture.
Inspirational Vaping Company Creates Dreamy E-liquid For Charity
eith and Sarah Fairman are the founders of Diamond Vapor in Hollywood, Florida. Nora’s Dream is the best-selling e-liquid they created which features in their Aisle 7 premium e-liquid range named after the cereal aisle. Nora’s Dream itself is reminiscent of that wonderful moment when all the fruit loops are gone and you sip the milk in a state of glorious comfort.
Proceeds of Nora’s Dream sales are donated to Nora on a monthly basis, with the e-liquid selling over 20,000 bottles a week. Available in 15ml, 30ml and 120ml bottle sizes in a variety of nicotine strengths ranging from 0mg to 12mg, Nora’s Dream is an award-winning e-liquid hailed as being the second most creative flavour of the year on 2014’s GuideToVaping website. The charitable and innovative idea came about, when the compassionate couple heard that Nora (the daughter of Sarah’s best friend) was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis shortly after she was born. In a magnanimous move, both Keith and Sarah decided to help Nora and safeguard her future by donating funds to her wellbeing.
Keith himself has had a rollercoaster of a journey so far. Hailing from New England, he moved with his beloved grandmother to South Florida over 20 years ago. When she lost her battle with cancer, Keith soon became addicted to drugs, which led to him
becoming homeless for a year. After joining a recovery program, he dedicated hundreds of hours of research into better delivery systems.
After a friend recommended that Keith try e-cigarettes, he found he had a growing interest in e-liquids. Ordering as many as four packages a day of just e-liquids, he had tried numerous e-liquids of vastly varying quality and flavour. Keith soon found himself on a mission to develop his own e-liquids and helping others in the process.
Keith has steadily turned his life around and now has a hugely successful business, solid support network and loving friends and family who work in harmony and channel the company ethos of compassionate advocacy.
Keith said: “Quitting traditional tobacco cigarettes has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. I know what it’s like to want to lead a healthier life and the frustration that goes with caving and smoking analogs. Diamond Vapor was borne out of the need to help others make the switch from analogs to e-cigarettes. It makes my day when I hear from customers who are no longer smoking analogs, after vaping Diamond Vapor e-liquids. It’s great to be part of their journey and I feel it more, because I know what it’s like.”
Founders of a vaping company passionate about helping others, have created an award-winning e-liquid to help their best friend’s baby born with cystic fibrosis.
“ It makes my day when I hear from customers who are no longer smoking analogs, after vaping Diamond Vapor e-liquids. It’s great to be part of their journey and I feel it more, because I know what it’s like.”
Diamond Vapor has a diverse product range, including Aspire Premium Kits, mechanical mods, tanks, RBAs, RDAs, accessories and fashion apparel. Their popular e-liquid list is hotly sought after in the US and beyond, being stocked in over 400 shops and seven countries world-wide. They are also the makers of two other e-liquid lines, "The Original Boss" and “Doughboys Vaped Goods”. Bloobies (an enchanting cake doughnut flavour, tempered with sweetly succulent blueberries) and Glazed-n-confused (smooth and decadently melt in your mouth flavour) from the Doughboys line are wildly popular and feature on Diamond Vapor’s best-seller list.
Diamond Vapor was established on the back of a difficult to source $1500 loan, which eventually came through after Sarah’s mother kindly decided to help out. The company now boasts 19 employees (the majority of whom are in recovery) and state-ofthe art clean room. From humble beginnings to astute business owner, Keith ensures he finds time to pay it forward by helping people into recovery.
At the time of going to press, baby Nora had just celebrated her 1st birthday. We at Vapouround Magazine would like to wish Nora a very happy birthday and look forward to hearing about her and Diamond Vapor’s progress.

very community uses terms specific to their group and the vaping community is no exception. It too has its own little lexicon and cloud chasing is not only a cool term but massive trend too. Blowing billowing puffs of smoke is just one of the vape tricks that creative vapers have up their sleeves.
For the benefit of newbie vapers, cloud chasing doesn’t involve running whilst staring at the sky as if you’re flying an invisible kite. Cloud chasers use their e-cigarettes to create humungous vapour plumes which wouldn’t look out of place in Michael Jackson’s Thriller video.
Such is the cult status of vape tricks, that it is inspiring competitions the world-over. Competitive vaping has been described as an extreme sport by The Wall Street Journal. Cloud chasing tournaments where vapers create the largest clouds, is a popular hobby that originated from across the pond from our American cousins, and which has caught on here
too. It is hugely popular, and the de facto sport which has sponsors distributing covetable cash prizes, can be lucrative for winning vapers and promoters alike.
Rich from the Best Vapor Flavours website (www.bestvaporflavors.com) says: “Cloud chasing can take months to master. A device used to win a cloud competition could be given to another contestant and not win. Not only does the device and all its variables determine cloud strength, but also the vaper’s breathing techniques.”
Rich’s tips for optimal cloud production include using an e-juice with a high VG, zero PG solution base, a copper mechanical mod or a high wattage device, an RDA with a good air flow, powerful battery and good coil set-up. This is in addition to perfecting your breathing technique.
You should firstly start by completely emptying your lungs. Exhale and dispel any excess air into your RDA so that puffs come out through the holes.
Then, on the inhale which is long and hard, straighten your back up to open your lungs to allow the entrance of more vapour. Exhale at a constant regular pace and ensure your jaw is slightly pushed out as you do. Having a protruding jaw allows you to open up your throat so that the vapour can escape easily. Tighten your lips at that last moment, which will propel a shot of air for a massive cloud.
Vapers passionate about their mods are not only enjoying vaping, but getting down with the intricacies of using their lungs and RDAs to master the act of cloud chasing which is an art in itself. Are you a cloud chaser or do you know someone who can conjure up the best vape tricks ever?
Tweet us the picture to @vapouround, we’d love to see it.

Vapemate is the perfect partner for any vape business looking to expand or enhance their e-liquid product range
There are no shortage of different flavours when it comes to vape juices. Some people have the favourite juices they tend to use most of the time and a list of others that they sample when the mood takes them. It is clear that finding the right flavour combinations is something which many vapers put a lot of time and effort into getting right. Others just like sampling new flavours or trying out different combinations to see if they will find either a new favourite or something a little bit different for special occasions. We are always looking for different juice flavour and flavour combinations to try out and here are ten which caught our eye recently.
1. Cappuccino from Apollo Ecigs
While by no means an outrageous flavour by any stretch of the imagination we chose this to illustrate that it is possible to get really subtle flavours these days. This is not just coffee flavour but a particular type of coffee. Said to have a “strong, rich and slightly sweet” espresso taste but without the caffeine crash at the end.
2. Stoned
Smurf from
Alien Vapor
This company has a range of marijuana flavoured e-liquids and Stones Smurf is part of that range. It features a dash of blue raspberry to give what has been described as a sweet and tangy taste.
3.
Bloodbath from Mount Baker Vaper
This is one of the company’s best sellers and is describes as “a powerful tropical fruit blend specially designed to satisfy the bloodlust of every scumdog in the universe.” Good news. It is about time scum dogs were represented in the e-juice market.
4. Carrot from EC Blend
This is not something I would put in the ‘ah but of course’ category of juice flavours but it does seem to make sense. Some customers blend this flavour with butter for ‘buttered carrot’ and with ‘roast beef’ for the flavour of carrots basted in roast beef. Now that is just making me very hungry indeed.
5. Unicorn
Blood
from Fuzion Vapor
What is it with the blood fascination with juice manufacturers? This is not any old blood but the blood of unicorns on less. Said to taste exactly like rainbows which is a fitting taste for something made from the blood of a mythical beast should taste like.
6. Looper from Anml
This is one of those juices whose flavour it is impossible to guess from the name alone unless I am missing something obvious. The actual flavour is fruity cereal over creamy milk and its makers describe it as combining “the crispness of newly-opened box of fruity cereal with the rich, indulgent flavor of fresh milk.”
7.
Zombie Blood from Crazy Vapors
OK I am beginning to see a pattern here. Vapers, or at least a significant section of the vaping community are really into their blood-themed flavours. I am glad I am not the one who has to extract the blood from the friendly neighbourhood zombie. This juice has a “blueberry sweet candy flavor” which is not how I would imagine zombie blood to taste but then again, I am no expert.
8. Bird Brains by Cuttwood
Thankfully this is just a play on words and no birds were harmed in the making of this e-liquid. This was inspired by a popular cereal brand which features a Toucan on the front of the box so you can expect a fruity, milky flavour from this juice.
9. Sucker Punch by Suicide Bunny
Sucker punch means to be hit with an unexpected punch or blow so one would expect this to be a little different or a flavour with an unexpected twist. Suicide Bunny says it is a juice with “a lovely creamy base, punctuated with an array of fruits hiding behind every corner.” Certainly ticks the ‘something different’ box I would say.
10. Jizmoglobin from Mount Baker Vaper
These juice flavour names just get stranger and stranger. I was almost too frightened to check out the description of this particular juice. If you are tempted by jizmoglobin then you will taste “a creamy blueberry blend with notes of nut and custard.” An acquired taste I suspect.
Women
with Pip, Lisa & Emma
For our insightful ‘Women in Vaping feature’ we spoke to three trailblazing females in the industry. Changing the world one vape at a time, here is what they had to say about sexism, inspiration and everything in between.
entered
vaping industry about six months ago after being a vaper for about 18 months. It’s something I have absolutely loved being a part of, from day one. It’s challenging but very rewarding when you actually help someone quit smoking.”
Emma - Nuclear VapoursThe world’s worst kept doublewhammy secret is finally out –vaping is healthier than smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes1 AND it is here to stay.
In fact, the vaping scene has exploded over the past 5 years. The use of e-cigarettes has tripled since 2014 demonstrating that vaping is no longer a trend, but a way of life for over 2 million in the UK alone.
E-cigarettes are fairly new, yet vapers worldwide cannot seem to get enough of mods, bespoke e-liquids in hundreds of flavours, and various vaping paraphernalia including coils, wicks and squonks. As reported in The Telegraph2 earlier this year, soaring e-cigarette sales increased by 75%, whilst global sales of vapour devices smashed the $6bn mark for the very first time. The rising popularity of vaping is giving rise to a revolution, which means more users are being attracted to vaping than ever before.
The popularity of vaping does not seem to wane, despite obstacles in the form of the impending Tobacco Products Directive that could ultimately see a dramatic change in e-cigarette regulation and manufacture.
In an industry previously dominated
by men, now over 50% of vapers are female, according to a Daily Mail survey3. Famous females seen snapped with a vape in hand include Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Katherine Heigl. Although this is inconsequential to an industry that doesn’t need celebrity endorsements as it thrives and enjoys exponential growth all of its own accord. So what is it about vaping that is attractive specifically to women? Why are females flocking to vaper expos and events worldwide? Vapouround caught up with three female trailblazers in the vaping arena; Emma (Nuclear Vapours), Lisa (Vaping For Girls) and Pip (Suicide Bunny). Here is what they had to say.
Vapouround: Tell us a little about yourselves.
Emma: I’ve been in the customer service industry for years, and when I finally managed to quit cigarettes I became passionate about vaping. I now own a vape shop in Bristol with my partner.
Lisa: I’m a 35 year old Community Project Office living in Newport, South Wales, with my boyfriend and our variety of pets. I spent a great deal of my 20s moving around the UK and working in a variety of fields from PR to Fashion, to the Civil Service. I love my job but I’m
also passionate about vaping and raising awareness of the presence of female vapers.
Pip: I’m a passionate individual who desires nothing more than to help people quit smoking and lead a healthier, happier lifestyle. Creating e-liquid is an art and an extension of my personality. I take great pride in creating premium e-liquids that I believe, help change the world one person at a time.
Vapouround: How did you enter the vaping industry and what was your initial reaction to it?
Emma: I entered the vaping industry about six months ago after being a vaper for about 18 months. It’s something I have absolutely loved being a part of, from day one. It’s challenging but very rewarding when you actually help someone quit smoking.
Lisa: I first started vaping around three years ago, starting with the cig-alike style e-cigs (both the supermarket bought and the more expensive internet bought) and although I loved the idea, the product never lived up to the hype. The market at the time was very limited and information about safety was scarce. I moved on to the pen style about two years ago and instantly loved it – it worked! As time
“I
the
has gone by and devices have moved on, I have found the industry boom to be very male dominated as the products become more and more techy; all of the modifications and building, speaks to a very masculine love of gadgetry, and the culture of cloud-chasing speaks to testosterone fuelled competiveness. I decided that I had to find and promote female friendly products and stores as I believe that if I felt excluded, so must other women.
Pip: I entered the vaping industry in 2013 when I began mixing liquid to help my husband quit smoking. After months’ of research, I was able to create e-liquids that helped him quit smoking for good. I never intended to create a company, but when local people tried the e-liquid at vape meets, it became apparent to me that I could help others quit smoking by providing the e-liquids to the world. Suicide Bunny now has a global presence in over 80 countries, and I am honoured to be contacted by vapers around the world who tell me how much our products have helped them. Initially, I was amazed by the industry; I felt it was progressing and evolving so quickly. It is
really amazing to be a part of an industry that continues to make such a huge impact on society.
Vapouround: There have typically been more males in the vaping industry. Have you ever noticed a gender ratio imbalance? If you were outnumbered by males, how did that make you feel?
Emma: I noticed an imbalance when I started vaping two years ago. There was one shop I knew of with one female member of staff, but it was mainly guys behind the counter. But things are definitely changing. We have an equal balance in our shop, and this was also pretty evident at the Birmingham expo. It seemed almost every stall was staffed by both men and women – who weren’t there just to be a pretty face, they actually knew about the products and were passionate about them. There were a lot of female visitors too, which was great to see!
Lisa: I think there is a gender imbalance in the review, product and retail worlds although anecdotal evidence suggests that up to 70% of vapers are female. I do feel out of place in some of the shops
and find that many of the products are marketed at men; many of the more advanced devices are just too bulky for the female market! There does seem to be a move towards a more femalecentric market but that seems to consist of making smaller pink devices; not a problem for me but it’s not to everyone’s taste. I have felt excluded, but that has not put me off vaping. It has made me more determined to promote the female point of view.
Pip: The only time I really ever noticed this has been in meetings. When it is time to get down to business, I sometimes notice that males will try to take advantage of me, talk down to me, or think that my husband, Scott, is really the owner. This never works for long,
as
“I noticed an imbalance when I started vaping two years ago. There was one shop I knew of with one female member of staff, but it was mainly guys behind the counter.”
Emma - Nuclear Vapours
many of them have realized a woman can be a strong business owner, and a smart cookie.
Vapouround: What is so great about the vaping scene and what do you think attracts females to vaping (apart from the obvious health benefits for those making the switch from traditional tobacco cigarettes)?
Emma: There seems to be a rise in products specifically aimed at women now, which I think helps women get into vaping. There are also a lot of great female reviewers out there, which means that when you research vaping and how to start, you can instantly see that there are loads of women out there already doing it. One of the things that really attracted me to the vaping scene is the huge community, both local and online. Other vapers are always interested in talking to people, and they are hugely supportive of great businesses. Our Thursday vape meets are also now being attended by more and more women, which is fantastic!
Lisa: I think many women switch to vaping as a step towards quitting smoking. They feel it’s cheaper and healthier for both themselves and their loved ones, and they find the other benefits from there. For me, vaping just tastes and smells so much better! There is so much choice and once you find the right device and e-liquid, it’s so much better than smoking ever was. I know the health benefits are obvious too, but there is so much to be said for being able to breathe again.
Pip: I think there are many positive aspects to the vaping scene. First, the community is wonderful! I have met the most amazing, supportive people within the vaping industry. Everyone always seems so willing to help others, and I love that. Also, vaping is truly a revolution and something that I believe will ultimately eradicate smoking. It is awesome to think that our children might grow up in an era without cigarettes. I can’t really pinpoint what might attract females to the vaping scene, but for me it was the positive community and the chance to live a healthier lifestyle.
Vapouround: Have you ever encountered sexism in the industry?
Would you say it’s a macho arena?
Emma: It can be a little macho! I have only encountered sexism once or twice. There was one particular time when I was in a vape shop with my partner, who is known as a great coil builder. He was asked what build he had in his RDA;
they then looked at my RDA and asked me what build my partner had put in for me! They were pretty surprised when I told them that I had built it myself, and then corrected them on the lowest ohm my mod will fire down to! Luckily it hasn’t happened much, and not for a long time.
Lisa: I’ve only encountered it, in so far as some shop owners assume you will only be interested in pen-style devices and cheap liquid. In general, people are welcoming and kind, but are just unsure of what female vapers’ want. One of my local vape shops has offered to work with me to hold a female vapers’ evening. The retail stores do still tend to be full of men chasing clouds and comparing coils they have built themselves. This can be off-putting to both female and new male vapers.
Pip: For the most part, no. However, I have encountered some males with hurt
egos. Some males within the industry might claim that the success of Suicide Bunny is due to my “assets” more than my ability to create good e-liquid. But to that I say, try it. It is not hard for anyone to see the success of Suicide Bunny can only be attributed to the fact that the
liquids are superior.
Vapouround: What advice would you give to females wanting to fly the vaping flag and set up business?
Emma: Go for it!! It’s a great business to be involved in. It’s tons of fun when you throw yourself into the community side of things, and things are definitely changing for the better.
Lisa: Go for it! There are so many female vapers; speak to your contacts and your friends and family so that you can maximise your appeal to the majority of vapers, not currently being heard. You know what is missing, trust your instincts.
Pip: I would say, fly it and fly it high! I love to see females getting more involved in both the vaping community and industry. If you truly have a heart to help people and impact the world, then don’t let anyone stop you!
Vapouround: How are women influencing the vaping scene and how do
you think the increased female presence will impact the scene over the next 5 years?
Emma: With the emergence of female reviewers, and even a few brands and devices created by women, for women, it’s easy to see how women are influencing the industry. Not every product is geared towards men anymore, but at the same time people are beginning to realise that some things don’t have to change. We don’t all want small, discreet devices with flowers on; women want the same devices as men. We know how to build, we want drippers and we are cloud chasers!
Lisa: I have seen a significant growth in female-friendly products over the last year and there seems to be more and more female reviewers and retailers. Twitter has been a great forum for me to connect with other female reviewers and, as a community, we are very supportive of each other and work together to promote each other and relevant products. I think the female presence in the vaping world is going to grow exponentially over the next five years and this can only have a positive effect on an already consumer-led market. Pip: I don’t really see it being impacted solely by women, but by both men and women with integrity, passion, and direction. I believe individuals with these attributes will help sustain and progress the cause of vaping to save lives. I think
it is imperative that, as women in the industry, we conduct ourselves with great integrity and intelligence, that we show leadership, and keep the wellbeing of others at the root of all we do within the industry.

Nuclear Vapours rock vaping scene
Hence the idea of a small, relaxed and friendly vape lounge was born! This worked well with the idea we had of serving drinks. We were fed up of visiting vape shops and only being able to try a few juices before getting the dreaded vape tongue and walking out with a nicotine headache! This is why we also have all our testers in 0mg nicotine.
latest addition is the fantastic Twelve Vapor from New York, which has proved hugely popular with our customers. We also offer a coil building service. For a small charge our resident coil monkey will put any sort of coil you want into your rebuildable device. This is a massively popular service and he is constantly kept busy with build requests (hence the nickname, given to him by our customers!).
We started a vape shop because we had a passion for vaping and wanted to help others quit smoking the same way we did. We shopped in many stores but none ever seemed to be exactly what we wanted. We also saw a lot of examples of unnecessary up-selling and bad advice. We felt like we could really offer something different and started by asking ourselves what WE wanted from a vape store.
We looked at several shops before finding "the one". It’s bigger and brighter than a lot of others we looked at, and had plenty of room for a comfy corner sofa and a couple of tables.
We offer a great selection of hardware and rebuilding accessories, including Native Wicks premium cotton and every different kind of Youde wire available, from Kanthal to Clapton, to quadruple twisted.
Our premium juice lines include the highly selective Illpluminati. They pick one store per city to carry the line so you won't find them anywhere else in Bristol. This exclusivity is great for our esteemed customers, and we are proud to supply only the very best for vapers. We are constantly innovating by keeping our finger on the pulse; this way we get new products and stand out from the crowd. Our vaping lounge really is the perfect place to be! Our juice lines are also continually being expanded. Our
Another very popular service is our late night opening on Thursdays. We listened to the feedback from our customers, many of whom wanted a later opening day so they were able to purchase after shift work.
So, we decided to incorporate this with a weekly Vape Meet.
Every Thursday night is now Vape Meet Night and we are open until 9pm (but that always runs over!). This meeting is ideal for people to pop in, either just to pick up some juice after work, or stay for the meet which is interesting, cool and very enjoyable!
It’s a busy night with people showing off their crazy coil builds, testing new liquids and meeting new like minded people! Are you looking for a cool place to vape? LUCKY 13 TAKES BEST OF SHOW IN THE CRAFT VAPERY ELIQUID AWARDS
The Vape Summit is one of the longest running and best run Vape Expos in the world and it showed as they rolled out it’s 4th edition in Houston. Held from October 8 - 10 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Vape Summit was the center of the Vape world for a few days as people came from all over the USA, Europe and Asia to see the latest, greatest in hardware as well as eLiquid creations. Cafe Racer’s experience with the Vape Summit team on all back end elements leading up to the event like registration, booth assignment and set up was top notch and a good harbinger of what was to come.
Houston is an excellent choice as a host city for a Vape Expo. It’s central Texas location with hundreds of vape shops within a 200 mile radius, easy
access via the International Airport and an abundance of relatively inexpensive hotels makes this an ideal city to host an event to reach the booming Southern USA Vape market.
Once again our team reached out to a
local custom cafe racer builder to share their bike with fans at our booth. Big ups to Chris Hale from Blip Workshop for awesome custom bike and for allowing us to showcase another masterpiece at our booth.
We landed at the The Vape Summit with our latest flavor creation - #YogurtBomb + an upgraded look on the 30 ML bottles (custom die cut label + foil effect on the label). Additionally we were rockin the newly released 15ML bottles for for Wall 3 flavors.
Vape Summit eLiquid Awards put on by Craft Vapery
We submitted all three of our craft eLiquid flavor creations to the prestigious Vape Summit eLiquid Awards curated by CRAFT Vapery. It was great to see this kind of event/award as part of the expo. It feels much more in-line with what you see at proper craft beer and wine festivals vs the usual Cloud Comps that usually are held at Vape expos. This year, CRAFT introduced a panel of judges with a variety of experience and flavor palates to help judge the entries. This year’s panel of judges included: Joshua Krane, Co-Founder and COO: CRAFT VAPERY
Meriwether Morris, Director of Procurement & Curation: CRAFT VAPERY; @shittywether Roy Mananquil, Founder: Vaping ROYbot, ROYbot Sauce, Vaperazzi
“We are thrilled to be able to award these incredible artisans with these Best In Show awards”
Peter Nguyen, Founder: The Vape Snob; Co-Owner: The Vapor LairFrom CRAFT Vapery’s Press Release: “We are thrilled to be able to award these incredible artisans with these Best In Show awards,” said Krane. “These are the innovators and creators we should all be looking to as industry leaders of the future, and the flavors we should all be filling our tanks with.” eLiquid submissions were made by the manufacturers weeks before the show and you had to select one of 16 flavor categories for each flavor submission. The awards were set to be announced at 3pm on the closing day of the show. On the way to the booth on the closing day before the show opened, I was stopped by a representative from Craft
Vapery who spotted the Cafe Racer logo on my shirt. They mentioned the eLiquid Awards later that day and that she STRONGLY recommended that someone from Cafe Racer be in attendance. Hmmmm. With a ton of awesome things going on at the show, I had almost forgotton about the eLiquid awards. Doh!
I started to continue to walk to our booth but had to turn around and return to the Craft booth and dig for details - surely this meant that one (or more) of our flavors was going to get an award.
The first thing I did upon hearing the news was text our flavorist who is back in California - it was only 7 am PST but i couldn’t wait to share the news with
him and the team at our lab. We work really hard for months on every one of our flavors but we worked particularly hard on trying to re-invent the tobacco flavor experience by sourcing a special tobacco blend that is light years ahead of what everyone else in the industry is using.
DIARY OF A VAPER
with Paul Caplin | Vapouround EditorAt the age of 15 my friend and I used to sneak into his Italian au pair’s room and steal a 20 pack of Rothman Cigarettes out of her duty free. These were probably one of the most disgusting brands of cigarette out at that time, but for two teenagers thinking that smoking was cool and made you look hard, it didn’t actually matter what brand of cigarettes we smoked.
Little did we know that we were about to embark in a lifetime of addiction, anti-social behaviour and that smell of old cigarette smoke that would neither look cool or hard.
Fast forward 25 years and I can finally say that for the first time in quarter of a century I am finally free from the dreaded tobacco addiction.
This new found freedom is wonderful, exhilarating and I feel that I have gained my life back, also it is down to one thing and one thing only…vaping.
My wife is a non smoker and for years she has been constantly urging me to quit. When our children were born she turned up the pressure and, in the end, resorted to telling me how disappointed she was with me that I could not quit smoking.
And while I knew that disappointed wives are much worse than angry wives, I didn’t want to or feel the need to quit, even though I knew all the potential health risks to myself and others.
As a smoker, my nights out were on the whole spent outside clubs and
bars, socialising with other anti-social smokers, who had been banished to a small shelter usually by the bins outside a club or bar.
This was my life and I could not see it changing any time soon or indeed ever
show and it was during a few drinks with the Vapouround team on the Saturday night that it happened.
I remember dragging everyone outside in the cold to drink their drinks so a couple of us could have our necessary tobacco fix, and one of the team commenting on the fact that I could lose my legs – referring to an article that we had covered in the magazine. This subconsciously hit home I think, but at the time I just took it as jovial banter.
We then continued the evening and went on to the after party event. I spent most of the night inside the club discussing business with potential clients, vaping and drinking as we went along.
As the night came to an end and we left the club, a sudden realisation came to me. I had just spent about three hours inside a club and never wanted or even thought about having a cigarette. This got me thinking, if in my most vulnerable and susceptible state towards smoking cigarettes (on a night out relaxing and drinking) I wasn’t interested or thinking about smoking, then I am sure that there must be something in this vaping that fulfils my cravings.
even though I really wanted to quit smoking.
However things did change and this happened in July this year when Vaper Expo UK at the NEC was in full swing. We were in Birmingham covering the
I had a vape stick for a week or two previously but it never seemed to work, I seemed to need both the e-cigarette and the regular cigarettes I was so used to.
I then spoke to some contacts of mine in the business and they explained that I was obviously vaping the wrong strength nicotine. They told me what to use and
I took their advice and I am pleased to say that since that day I have not craved, touched or wanted another cigarette.
Now it actually makes me feel ill smelling tobacco, and I put this down to vaping and I can’t thank it enough.
I know that there are many tests still to do to prove the safety of vaping but anything that is less harmful than smoking cigarettes must surely be a good thing.
More the point, the way that vaping has changed my life is immeasurable.
Firstly smoking takes over your life and your thoughts and I had no idea how much it did so until I was finally able to quit.
When driving on long journeys with
my family I was always planning when I needed to stop for a cigarette along the way and, of course, this added to the time it would take to get to the final destination.
Holidays were also another huge problem area. When going through an airport I would need to ensure that I had a cigarette before going through check in and security and then this would always be followed by the fear about there may be no smoking area afterwards and the worry about when I would be able to get my next fix.
At work there were similar problems with always having to take a quick cigarette break and then there was always the look of disgust from my wife when I come
home stinking of stale cigarettes. I thought it was over dramatic at the time but now I see what I put people through as I can now smell it and I am disgusted myself.
All of these things have gone from my life and I’m much happier, clearer and more focused and most of all not addicted, which makes my life a lot easier and happier not to mention healthier, and all of this is thanks to vaping.
I’m always interested to hear other peoples stories, so please email paul@vapouround.co.uk and I will publish the most inspiring story in the next edition of Vapouround.

OHMS LAW FOR VAPERS
For many people this may indeed be true but if you are a vaper then, suddenly, Ohms Law may actually have meaning in your life.
The law says that the electric current which passes between two points in an electrical circuit is directly proportional to the potential difference (voltage) across those two points and inversely proportional to the resistance.
If you build your own mods or if you are just curious about how your equipment works then an understanding of Ohms Law would be very helpful indeed.
The law was named after the German physicist Georg Ohm, and is generally expressed today by the formula V = I/R where:
V = the potential difference measured across the conductor in volts I = the current flowing through the conductor in amperes and R = the resistance of the conductor in ohms.
The ohm (which was named after Georg Ohm) is defined as the electrical resistance between two points of a conductor when a constant potential difference of 1 volt is applied to these points to produce a current of 1 ampere across the conductor.
So from simple maths we know that if V = I/R then I = V/R and R = V/I.
So let’s apply this to the world of vaping. When it comes to e-cigarettes the resistance (R) is produced by the coils. Increasing the resistance will make it harder for electricity to flow through the coils and reducing the resistance will make it easier.
Wire thickness is very important too as the resistance of the wire will decrease as its thickness increases. Thus the thinner the wire, the higher its resistance will be.
Increasing the resistance leads to a cooler vape while lowering the resistance will provide warmer vape temperatures because of the higher electrical current through the coil. Some of the main effects of changing the resistance of the coil are as follows:
As the resistance of the coil is increased it will:
produce a cooler tasting vape produce less vapour heat the coil more slowly
conserve battery life use less e-liquid
As the resistance of the coil is decreased it will:
produce a warmer tasting vape produce more vapour heat the coil faster drain the battery faster use more e-liquid
Also keep in mind that the resistance of the coil can impact on the flavour produced by the e-liquid. Different liquids react differently to changes in resistance so it is important to know that the resistance you choose could impact on the flavour of the vape you enjoy.
Thus many people like to lower the resistance of the coil to give a more intense flavour. The same thing can happen by increasing the amount of power flowing through the coil by increasing the voltage flowing through it.
This means that if you want even more vapour then you would seek to lower the resistance of the coil while increasing the voltage across it. The main downside to this is that it can seriously impact on the life of your atomiser.
Because lower resistance coils use more power, they tend to generate more heat and this means they are likely to burn out
Ohm’s Law is one of those things that you might have been taught at physics or science class at school and dismissed as something that you would never need to know about again.
I= VR
a lot quicker than higher resistance coils.
Sub ohm vaping is where users seek more vapour, a more intense throat hit and often more flavour by dramatically decreasing the resistance through the coil to under one ohm.
Be aware that this puts maximum demand on the battery and coil and if done on a mechanical mod without an electrical safety switch it does increase the chances of the battery exploding if the resistance is lowered too much.
If you are building your own mods then you will have to know how changing one variable will impact on the others and there are various Ohms Law calculators online to help you do this. This is only an introduction to the variables in Ohms Law and if you want to go into the subject in more detail then there are various videos and instructional articles which you can find online. Also getting together with other vapers is a great way to learn more about the subject. You might live near a vaping club which organises meetings where devices are built and these are always great to attend.
Whether Ohms Law is specifically mentioned or not does not matter, but the physics behind Ohms Law will be being used whenever electrical vaping components are put together or modified.
“Sub ohm vaping is where users seek more vapour, a more intense throat hit and often more flavour by dramatically decreasing the resistance through the coil to under one ohm.”

ON TOUR
SHREWSBURY • CALIFORNIA • SAN ANTONIO • PARIS • HOUSTON • PHOENIX • CHINAUK VAPEFEST 2015 EVENTS
This year’s event, held at the West Midlands Showground in Shrewsbury, attracted vapers from far and wide for a weekend of non-stop vaping fun and excitement.
Not only was the weather good but the atmosphere was electric and there was something for everybody whether a first-time vaper or a seasoned pro.
The world’s biggest big raffle saw people snapping up £2 tickets in the hope of winning some amazing prizes and there were a lot of happy winners who walked away with some very cool vaping gear indeed.
In fact the raffle was so big that there were two prize draws and a constant line of vapers queueing up to get their tickets.
Elsewhere many of the exhibitors were giving away freebies, dispensing free advice and tips, showing off their latest products and letting fans try out the latest, newest and freshest flavours. Many people decided to make a weekend of it and camp out at the venue to ensure that they did not miss any of the action.
Those who stayed said it was a great atmosphere and they are already looking forward to what is in store next year.
However for some unlucky campers there was a little bit of drama on Saturday afternoon…much to the amusement of other UK Vapefest goers.
For many in the vaping community, UK Vapefest is the not-to-be-missed event of the year and it is easy to see why.
There were shouts of “look over there” and all eyes were fixed on someone’s tent which was gracefully floating over the showground on a column of air before disappearing out of sight. Needless to say it was not long before the images of the disappearing green and black tent had been captured on people’s mobile phones and uploaded to social media sites.
At the event itself there was also a great selection of food on sale, live music, DJs and an enthusiastic crowd which all went to make it a great atmosphere.
Some of the adjectives used to describe the event included “”immense,” “amazing” “unmissable” and “fantastic.”
There was lots of praise for the quality of the live music and the fact that UK Vapefest remains a free event (even the camping at the ground was free) where all are welcome.
Thousands of people attended over the two days and it is events such as this which help cement the bonds within the vaping community by allowing people to come together and share their passion with others.
T Juice managing director Nigel Quine, who was also one of the event sponsors, spoke for many when he talked about the importance of UK Vapefest.
He said: “UK Vapefest is the most important event in the UK vaping calendar and what we have now is the culmination, and fine tuning, of many years work.
“The fact that it is a two day event makes it all the better and bit more mellow and relaxed. This is a complete festival and I am very proud to be part of it.”
vapouround magazine launched at uk vapefest 2015
After months of hard work behind the scenes,
Vapouround Magazine was officially launched at UK Vapefest 2015.
We had a great time at the event in Shrewsbury and the whole team thoroughly enjoyed unveiling our vape lifestyle magazine to the public for the first time. It was our first issue and we were a little nervous but the reaction we received was nothing short of fantastic so we want to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement and support.
People were reading the magazine at the event and taking copies home for their families and friends which was great to see.
A special thanks to everyone who told us how much they enjoyed reading the magazine and also for all the tips and suggestions for future content.
We made a lot of new friends at the UK Vapefest event and are so proud to be part of such a friendly and welcoming community.
It certainly has been a busy time for us all at Vapouround Magazine…literally as soon as we had packed up from UK Vapefest then we were off to the USA to meet leading members of the vaping community across the pond.
We are happy to report that the US vaping community share the same passion, enthusiasm and friendly nature as do their British counterparts.
It is great to see so many diverse people from different backgrounds and age groups all coming together to enjoy a shared passion.
How refreshing it is to be part of a community where differences are respected and other people’s views are not seen as an excuse to start an argument or a bad-tempered heated debate. There are no absolute right or wrongs about vaping and people do it for all sorts of reasons. Many have turned to vaping as a way of getting off traditional cigarettes while others enjoy having the latest gadgets or experimenting with different flavours and are always on the look out for new e-liquids to try.
There are some who just want a simple setup while others love custom mods and the technical side of things.
One thing is for sure and that is that no matter what your differences or preferences when it comes to individual vaping choices, there is one thing about which we can all agree…we have one of the most amazing communities going.
Here’s to an amazing bunch of people and if you are reading this, then that includes you.
We had a great time meeting so many people both at UK Vapefest and on our travels in the USA and can’t wait to make even more friends in the weeks and months ahead.
My Visit to UK Vapefest by Patrick Griffin
For many in the vaping community, UK Vapefest is the not-to-be-missed event of the year and it is easy to see why.
This year’s event, held at the West Midlands Showground in Shrewsbury, attracted vapers from far and wide for a weekend of non-stop vaping fun and excitement.
Not only was the weather good but the atmosphere was electric and there was something for everybody whether a firsttime vaper or a seasoned pro.
The world’s biggest big raffle saw people snapping up £2 tickets in the hope of winning some amazing prizes and there were a lot of happy winners who walked away with some very cool vaping gear indeed.
In fact the raffle was so big that there were two prize draws and a constant
line of vapers queueing up to get their tickets.
There were shouts of “look over there” and all eyes were fixed on someone’s tent which was gracefully floating over the showground on a column of air before disappearing out of sight. Needless to say it was not long before the images of the disappearing green and black tent had been captured on people’s mobile phones and uploaded
to social media sites. At the event itself there was also a great selection of food on sale, live music, DJs and an enthusiastic crowd which all went to make it a great atmosphere.
Some of the adjectives used to describe the event included ”immense,” “amazing” “unmissable” and “fantastic.”
The ecc expo
California | 13th-16th August
The ECC Expo - Electronic Cigarette Convention 2015 was a massive event. Held at the Pomona Fairplex this was the place to be for anyone who was interested in e-cigarettes, vaping, hardware, the latest products and new juice flavours.
It attracted a huge number of visitors from the USA, Canada, Europe and beyond and there was never a dull moment because where was so much to see and do.
For some it was their first major vaping expo while others were regulars who wanted to be the first to know about the latest developments
and changed within this rapidlyevolving industry.
There were huge lines of people waiting to get in when the show opened and there were some complaints online that the directions of where to park and entry points could have been better at such a massive venue.
Being held in California in August meant that it was hot and visitors were very glad once they got inside the air-conditioned venue.
There were lots of giveaways, competitions and fun things to do from start to finish and the general feeling that this event was even better than last year.
Vendors got to showcase their products, visitors left happy, many with new hardware and new juices to try out, and new fans to the vaping community were won over.
Visitor Sandra S, from Orange County, CA, said she really enjoyed the experience and loved the opportunity to try new juice flavours and pick up some freebies along the way.
She wrote online: “I had a great time at this event once I got into the air conditioned buildings because it was 100 degree heat and the lines to get in were completely disorganized.
“I like going to vape conventions because I'm able try as many flavors, from several different brands, before
making my purchase.
“Quite a few of the vendors had promotions where if you purchased a certain dollar amount in juice, they'd throw in free juice or gear (t-shirts, tank tops, etc.).
“Overall, I enjoyed the experience and depending on the weather and location of next year's event, I might be up for going again.”
Another visitor wrote on an online forum: “I have seen a lot of people talk about all the goods and their hauls which I am happy for them. I ended up spending about $200 on juices from a lot of rad vendors and got a TON of juice.. so I am pleased with my time there.”
One visitor from Australia said they were offered so much free stuff that they had to refuse offers because there was so much being given away. Glitchlol wrote on Reddit: “I felt like a VIP the entire convention. Apparently you guys love us Australians. I bought my fair share of stuff, but I had to decline so much free stuff that I started feeling pretty rude.”
The organisers were really pleased with the turn out for the event and wrote on Facebook: “We would like to thank everyone that attended and exhibited at ECC 2015 and helped to make it an amazing experience. Big thanks to our Premier Sponsor Cosmic Fog Vapors. Till next year!”
VAPEBLAST
TEXAS | 28TH - 30TH AUGUST
he Texas Vape Blast 2015 was held for three days at the San Antonio Event Center from August 28 to 30.
There was a business-to-business session on the first day but the main focus was on the public who came out in large numbers to see the vendor exhibits, experience the entertainment and hear the guest speakers.
Organisers Kenny and Sarah Brattain said their mission was to: “Provide quality public education and awareness about all aspects of vaping to the consumer and public-at-large.
“Secondly to provide a casual, enjoyable and affordable event that will allow small mom and pop businesses to interact with larger more established businesses.
“Its our goal to see both ends of the spectrum work together, network and build mutually beneficial relationships to help grow the industry in a productive and responsible way.”
This was a great venue, the largest privately-owned event centre in San Antonio, and being free to enter for the public clearly went down well.
Whether you were from Texas or further afield, everyone was treated to the same warm hospitality and the community element of the vaping world was very evident.
Vendors were not only trying to sell their products but they genuinely wanted to take the time to talk to people, answer questions, supply advice and address any concerns people had.
It is at events such as this where people can really come together and ensure that they get the products and liquids which are right for them.
Many people love to find out what the latest products are and what is in the pipeline for the future and events such as this are the places to find out.
On the Vape Blast 2015 Facebook page there was praise for the organisers for
those who had attended and wanted to say how happy they were that they had been able to get to the show.
At least one person did not realise that it was an 18 and over event and was surprised when they learned that they could not take children inside but that was the exception rather than the rule.
Visitor Armin Lee Moeller Jr wrote: “Me my wife and son and granddaughter had a blast at Vape blast. My very first one and defiantly not my last.
“Repping my supplier Coval Vapes and also found another flavor I love. Back porch by Southern Tradition. Defiantly will be back next year.”
Many happy vapers posted pictures of the goodies they snagged on social media sites and told of how much they enjoyed the event and of swapping stories with other vapers.
There was one common response from those who had attended…they all agreed that they had a blast in Texas.
VAPEXPO
20TH - 22ND SEPTEMBER 2015
GRANDE HALLE DE LA VILLETTE - PARIS
The imposing Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris was home to the third Vapexpo event which was held from September 20 to 22. The main hall was the venue to the event which saw 210 exhibitors from 26 countries and 450 brands featured.
During the event there were more than 7,000 visitors from 66 different countries and the exhibition was a huge success. As well as a large number of attendees from throughout Europe there were visitors from the USA, China and further afield.
According to official statistics, e-liquid manufacturers were the largest group represented, followed by hardware manufacturers and resellers.
Moiroud Jean, president of the Federation of the electronic cigarette professionals, said: “The trend this year are the flavours such as cereals, yoghurt ice and the taste of apple pie.
“This is a real work of seduction,
especially as the French industry has the willingness to export.”
The French are also taking to vaping in a big way with a recent study showing that nearly 3 million French people vape regularly with the trend for switching from traditional cigarettes to e-cigarettes likely to continue rising.
The Vapexpo event was seen as an event to allow vapers to sample their favourite brands and also try out new flavours of e liquids while also getting to see the latest hardware developments in the industry. It was also a great opportunity for vapers to get together, ask questions, make contacts and do business.
There were professionals from the medical community at Vapexpo to present a scientific viewpoint about vaping and answer any questions people had on the health effects of vaping as opposed to traditional smoking.
There was also a chance for industry professionals to get together and
establish trading contacts and also to learn more about the industry via conferences.
The organisers said: “Successfully organised for the first time in March 2014 in Bordeaux - 3,780 visitors from over 25 countries - and followed by its Parisian edition, VAPEXPO has reiterated its objectives of gathering together, once a year, national and international actors from the electronic cigarette field.
“Everybody meets at VAPEXPO: e-liquid and e-cigarette manufacturers, modders, resellers, wholesalers, health professionals, reviewers and those with a passion for vaping.
“In addition VAPEXPO is also a chance for professionals to mobilise themselves around a mutual event, to give them responsibility and to enhance a sector that is structured and professionalized every day.
“Exchanges, respect, conviviality and discovering are the key words at VAPEXPO.”
VAPE SUMMIT IV
HOUSTON, TEXAS | OCTOBER 8TH - 10TH
The Vape Summit in Houston, Texas, billed itself as the premier platform for the vaping industry and this certainly was one super-sized event indeed.
Held at the George R Brown Convention Center from October 8-10, the Vape Summit prides itself on showcasing the biggest and brightest movers and shakers of the Vape Industry.
There were prizes galore up for grabs, entertainment throughout the event and talks from some of the most influential people in the vaping industry.
Vape Summit is billed as the first vape trade show which is designed to cater specifically to the vaping industry.
Teaming up with influential industry leaders from all around the world, the organisers said they aimed “to provide an experience that is beneficial for not only vendors and attendees but the entire vaping industry.”
It attracted everyone from industry professionals, seasoned vapers and those who were new to the industry but all were able to see the latest products and also products so new that they are yet to be released to the public.
Offering “a unique experience for all users” the event played host to the world’s first largest e-liquid sampling station; had special appearances from mod makers from around the world; showcased the originators of the first cloud contest organized by Vapor Solutions called the King of Clouds and even had the first every vaper poker tournament.
Keynote speakers included E-Cig Forum founder Oliver Kershaw alongside various advocate groups who spoke on a variety of topics that are affecting the vaping community today.
According to their Facebook page: “The Vape Summit is a homage to the pioneers of the e-cigarette world and a nurturing environment for up and coming leaders and newly inducted members. See you at the top.”
Thousands of people passed through the doors and many commented on the sheer variety of products and liquids on display and the huge range of activities and entertainment which was available.
If you were into vaping - and everyone here was into vaping, then there really was something for everyone.
Vape Summit founder Rocky Anciano said the industry was more than just about vaping and described it as a thriving community and sub culture.
He told ABC 13 Eyewitness News that it was a fast moving industry thanks to many technological innovations in the relatively short time that vaping has been popular.
He said: “The way we progress is faster than we can be regulated because of the innovation and ideals behind it.”
Among the vendors at the summit was Pip Gresham who owns e-liquid manufacturing company Suicide Bunny. She got into the industry to help her husband quit smoking and said:
“I began making liquid and since my husband was able to quit I have helped a lot of people since then.
“The power of vaping is huge as an alternative to help people quit.”
Whether it was people trying to quit smoking regular cigarettes or just find out more about the growing vaping industry, attendees all agreed that Vape Summit was a massive success.
VAPOR DYNASTY EXPO 2015
PHOENIX, ARIZONA OCTOBER 16, 17 & 18
Vapor Dynasty Expo 2015 was held at the Phoenix Convention Center, Arizona, between October 16th to the 18th in more than 70,000 square feet of exhibition space.
The 18 and over event brought together seasoned vapers, industry leaders, vaping experts, businesses, enthusiasts and those who were new to vaping or just wanted to see what it was all about.
There were lots of giveaways throughout the three day event which attracted more than 120 exhibitors and attendees from all over the world.
Entertainment included a live DJ, live entertainment, cloud competition, vape celebrity appearances and a huge after show party on the Saturday night. There were keynote speakers from all aspects of the vaping community and a chance to chat with distributors, vapor shops, product and e-liquid manufacturers, vaping advocacy groups, vape reviewers, wholesalers, and celebrities. The speakers included Michael Guasch, president of Molecule Labs; Joe Barnett, the director of The Vaping Militia; and Patricia I. Kovacevic, the chief compliance officer of Nicopure Labs LLC.
It was a really good show with some great companies exhibiting and although not one of the bigger shows, there was a huge buzz around the hall and everyone seemed to have a great time.
Visitors were impressed with the products and juices on display, the entertainment and the general feel of the event. Although the business to business section did not seem to be overly busy compared to other shows we have attended this year, the consumer side was rammed and people reported that they planned to come back next year.
The giveaways, raffles, talks from industry experts and the entertainment all combined to make this a great event and one which was well worth attending.
CECMOL EXPO
CECMOL were kind enough to invite us along to their second show for vaping in China. The event itself was hosted at the convention and exhibition centre in the heart of Shenzhen City, China between the 20-23 October. Shenzhen is considered by many to be the home of vaping innovation with leading hardware brands including Aspire, who were producers of the first sub ohm tank based there.
CECMOL itself is part of a much larger exhibition, featuring numerous weird and wonderful products, but I don’t want to bore you with the details of this. My main focus for this article is Hall 3 – The Vaping Hall.
For me the event really began a long time before the show, in the lead up I was in constant contact with the organiser, Annie Jiang. I was blown away by just how organised and efficient she was at helping us to make this trip a reality. From supplying us with invitation letters for our visa application to ensuring we had full access to the event.
I have had the opportunity to go to a number of events around the world now, but this was my first in Asia and I can tell you I really did not know what to expect.
All things considered I have to say that it was one of the most enjoyable to date. Yes, of course on this trip my eyes were opened to what using a ‘Chinese toilet’ is like, but the trip itself was a roaring success. The helpfulness of local people coupled with the knowledge of vaping they showed, made me realise just what a global phenomenon vaping is, and just how many more people need to be made aware of it.
On our arrival, Annie was there to greet our team and showed us how to gain entry to the expo. Once in I was not only astounded by the size of the hall but also the mixture of countries which were represented at the event. Upon walking around you could see UK brands such as Perino, USA based brands such as Ruthless and a guy I can only describe as legendary, Kurt from Café Racer, whose introduction to us was thrusting a beer in our hand and inviting us to join him in beer and vaping…. perfect. As well as these countries there were representatives from France, Canada, China, Malaysia and Indonesia displaying the latest hardware and Juices.
The exhibition had many events which took place over the course of the
exhibition. These took place on a giant stage at the back of the auditorium. The following are just a few:
Product Launches: The product launches that took place were accompanied by a number of models looking glamourous in fine evening wear, whilst walking like cat walk models to display the new products to a captivated audience.
Cloud Competition: A cloud competition was held with the grand prize being RMB 8,888, for those of you don’t know 8 is a lucky number in China.
Tricks: VGOD were on the scene with a selection of tricks to entertain, creating a great atmosphere and rush of excitement through the crowd. This must have seemed like a very strange site to the non-vapers who had happened to this part of the exhibition at random.
In conclusion this was a successful event for many reasons, from the organisational skills of the CECMOL staff, to putting on events to keep its audience captive in all things vape.
If you want to get more of a feel for the event please check out our video on the CECMOL page of the vapouround website.
The Lavabox DNA200
by Volcano EcigsVolcano Ecigs have been a staple in the vape world since way back in 2009. With the exception of their mildly successful LavaTube, they have always been a company more geared toward new and beginner vapers. That is until they recently released the new DNA200 LavaBox mod. I was able to get my hands on one recently and I must say, I have been pleasantly surprised on every level with this device. It is incredibly comfortable to hold and use. The buttons are nice and responsive and the overall fit and finish of the mod is very very nice. The LavaBox utilizes the new Evolv DNA200 chipset, allowing for both temperature control and non temperature control vaping up to 200w. The Lavabox includes a Removable Lithium Polymer 900 mAh 3 Cell on the inside. These LI-PO cells are wire in series so there is never a shortage of power. One thing that Volcano Ecigs did with this device was add the ability to swap out the rubberized grip portion to different colors. I would love to see more
color options but as of right now the grip will come in black, white, red and blue. It’s not a game changing feature, but it’s always a nice touch to be able to customize your device.
Overall I really really enjoy using this device. I get a solid battery life, even at higher wattages and things like the spring loaded 510 really make using this device effortless. The fit and finish is top
“It is incredibly comfortable to hold and use. The buttons are nice and responsive and the overall fit and finish of the mod is very very nice.”
GRIMM GREEN REVIEW
notch on the lavaBox, this device feels like a high quality mod.
The LavaBox is pretty reasonably priced at $170 for just the mod and $200 for a kit that also includes a tank and a bottle of juice. If you’re looking for a compact DNA200 powerhouse, I would highly recommend checking out the LavaBox.

ByAspire Triton Tank System: by Vaper UK
Specifications
• Dimensions: 73mm in height (with included drip tip) x 22.5mm in width
• Stainless steel construction
• Pyrex glass tube
• 3.5ml juice capacity
• Top and bottom adjustable airflow
• Japanese organic cotton
• Optional RBA coil section
• 0.4 surgical grade steel coil for direct to lung vapers
• 1.8 Kanthal coil for mouth to lung vapers
So, what’s new about this tank?
• Adjustable airflow – yes, we have seen this on the Aspire Atlantis V2 & Mega, but the top drip tip airflow adjustment is much wider
• Top filling system – now we can fill the tank from the top, and it is a very simple system. 2 steps and you are able to fill your tank without removing it from your device
• Medical grade steel coils – the Aspire Triton is one of the first tanks to use the steel wire for their coils.
• Optional RBA coil – unfortunately this is an optional extra, but Aspire have listened to us vapers. They have now brought out a rebuildable section for the tank, which allows you to build your own coils, one that I would like to try, especially for temperature control.
• 4 fin heat sink as part of the drip tip and top airflow control
Pros
• Top filling system
• Very adjustable airflow
• Improved top and bottom airflow design
Cons
• Aspire do not give the RBA section as part of the kit
• Goes through e-liquid very quickly so make sure you have enough
• You cannot completely disassemble the tank to clean it properly
Summary
The Aspire Triton is an excellent leap forward in tank design, to allow for all types of vaping styles and ease of use. For people who want to move from older tanks or other vaping devices, then this is for you, from beginners to advanced users.
Please note: Always do your research. These tanks should only be used with top quality batteries and devices. Be careful when you are using low Ohm resistance coils.
Ego K Twin Kit 650MAH: by Vape Guys UK
Ego K 650mAh Twin Kit
This is a convenient and easy to use 2 piece personal vaporiser. The EGO K will satisfy both the chemical need for nicotine and the psychological need to hold an object to inhale and exhale. It is found that tobacco cigarette addiction stems from the need to actually hold a cigarette, so this is the perfect vaping device that will keep the heaviest smoker satisfied.
In terms of reliability, performance, simplicity, value and satisfaction, this is by far the most popular model (eGo CE4) currently on the market. These kits are ideal for beginners and seasoned vapers alike, which is why it has garnered numerous positive reviews.
Quotes from users of the Ego K: Kath D: I’m into my fourth week with my e-cigarette. I wouldn‘t be without it. I haven’t been tempted once to have a real cigarette.
Claire: I love my ego e-cigarette. I have been using it for several weeks and just treated myself to a red twin pack. It looks great too!
Features:
• Huge 1.6ml capacity clearomiser that gives full flavour and a huge vapour
• Five clicks battery on/off function to save power
• Safety auto battery ‘switch off’ function if you take too many vapes too quickly.
• Low charge indicator (button flash)

Kennedy RDA Clone: by Vaper UK
I purchased this from Evolution Vaping for a very reasonable £15.99. I was looking to get an RDA that had good airflow and was easy to use.
With the Kennedy there is no control over the airflow, just massive amounts from it. As you can see from the image below there are 4 air holes which take the air from the bottom of the RDA and direct it from under your coils. With this RDA, it is made for dual coils. If you are a single coil fan then you could block off one side and just have the air flow on the side where your coil is.
It has a 3 post design and utilises a deep juice well, which helps prevent flooding of the air holes which are raised from the bottom of the juice well. The centre post is copper with the two negative posts milled into the deck itself.
If you are using Ni200 or very thin gauge wire, the screws do have a tendency to cut through the wire and you are left with a useless coil and have to start again! But get it right and it works very well.
The post holes are not big; you would have problems fitting twisted or parallel builds into this deck, so it would be best suited for single strand coils.
Once you have your build done, you are ready to experience the massive amounts of vapour and excellent flavour that this RDA produces.
For the price this is a fantastic RDA. It really produces plumes of vapour and the flavour is fantastic. It’s well worth the money, even if there is a problem with the screws cutting thin gauge wires.
Kangertech Subox Starter Kit: by Vape Guys
I love this small black beast of a vape. The Subox is now my necessity vape and I carry it everywhere. The Starter Kit consists of:
• KBOX Mini
• SUBTANK Mini
• 1 x OCC 0.5 Ohm Coil
• 1 x OCC 1.5 Ohm Coil
• 2 x RBA Coils
• 1 x RBA Mini Plus Base
• 1 x Screwdriver
• Japanese Cotton
• USB Charging Cable
I don’t just love the SUBOX/KBOX mini; I love Kangertech, who have brought sleek, powerful and small vapes into the world. The Starter Kit unfortunately doesn’t come with an 18650 battery which is one of the downfalls. The battery cover is magnetic so there are no worries about breaking little plastic clips. The KBOX Mini is made from metal so it can take drops and knocks really well. The device itself is only 8cm long and is designed perfectly to fit your hand.
SUBTANK Mini
The SUBTANK Mini is a brilliant piece of equipment to add to your vaping arsenal and which I would recommend highly. It has a 22mm diameter and holds a whopping 4.5ml e-liquid. The tank itself has a pyrex glass tube; in the Starter Kit it actually doesn’t include a replacement. It’s quite durable, I haven’t had any leaks or cracks but there could come a time when I will have to go out and buy a replacement if it breaks.
Wear & Tear
As I carry my SUBOX in my pocket most of the time (mixed up with coins and keys), the paintwork has scratched off
quite easily, which is a little disappointing.
Conclusion
Seriously BUY IT! I have found the same kit as mine on VapeClub.co.uk for £54.99, which is not a bad price. Remember you have to buy an 18650. This brings your entire kit up to around £65. Don’t buy a cheap 18650. I recommend buying a Sony VTC4 2100mAh High Drain Battery; better quality, better value and also they last longer. Thank you Kangertech for making such an amazing device.
HARDWARE REVIEWS
Kanger MT3S Clearomiser Tank: by Vape Guys UK
The MT3S is the same as a Kanger T3, but with a metal tank instead of a plastic clear tank. This is the latest innovation in e-cigarette clearomiser technology. The MT3S has a bottom coil which provides a more consistent vape, fantastic flavour and vapour from the first draw to the last draw.
To fill, you need to hold it upside down, unscrew and then remove the base. Holding the T3 at an angle, slowly pour your liquid down the side, like a pint of beer. Try to avoid getting any liquid in the centre tube, as this is your air-tube. This clearomizer works well with a wide range of eGo batteries.
Quotes from users of the Kanger: Adrian V. N:“I chose the Kanger MT3 over the Evod because of its capacity (roughly 50% more and I get through 3ml+ liquid a day). I‘m happy! It looks a treat on a Vision Spinner 1300mAh. With an atomiser of 2.2ohm and my Spinner set to 4.0v, it delivers for me. Checking e-liquid and watching as you fill is no prob. You can see the level though the windows easily, whilst the metal casing matching my Spinner looks great. At first the draw felt airy compared with the CE4 I‘d used before. But within a day I‘d grown to like it – a lot. When you change the atomiser, you can use the base again. This means the mouthpiece is black (per MT3 spec) and not clear. That‘s fine, and I like it. Along with my first MT3, I ordered a second one as a backup, a couple of extra bases, and some spare atomisers.
After a few months I knew I‘d stay with the MT3 and ordered more. Yup, the tank isn‘t Pyrex. But then, it‘s not exactly expensive either!
James B: Upgraded to this clearomiser and can‘t praise it enough. Great vapour and flavour. Using this with an Innokin VV and it‘s a great combination!
Jinksy: I called in today for an upgrade (not been before). I bought a vision spinner 1300mAh and the mt3 tank. The vape action is awesome, a first class combination of battery and tank. Great vape!”
Vamo Skin from J-Wraps: by Vape Guys UK
(www.bombvapes.co.uk)
I definitely love my Vamo but I started growing weary of the dull stainless steel mod. Some of my friends have some amazing mods. Not wanting to be left out, and feeling the need for some personalisation, I set about hunting for a wrap to cover up the V6 and give it some much needed flare.
After a bit of Google trawling I stumbled upon J-Wraps, a family-run business that specialises in mod stands and vinyl skins. The amount of devices they cater for is astonishing – if it‘s vapable then they have a skin for it. Even if you‘re harbouring some absurdly rare mod that no one‘s heard of, just fire them an email and the very friendly folk will do their best to help.
J-Wraps
Website: JWraps.com
Facebook: JWraps
Twitter: @JWraps
Email: Admin@jwraps.com
I settled on an R2D2 styled design (you know, Star Wars). The cost of the skin was somewhere in the region of £10 after converting from dollars to pounds, which included shipping from the U.S. I know it‘s pretty steep for what is essentially a sticker but OMG it‘s shiny! Shipping time was
roughly two weeks with no import fees or taxes to pay, as it comes in under duty limits.
The wrap went on pretty well, without any fuss or need for the included instructions.
I didn‘t have to sit there with a hairdryer trying to get it to adhere, which is a plus.
Oh, and don‘t worry if you don‘t get it lined up perfectly on your first go, just peel it off and start again. It stays sticky for re-use! So far the wrap has remained well adhered despite a lot of use. I‘ve dropped it a few times and it‘s taken a fair few knocks but hasn‘t suffered any damage yet.
Overall I‘m very happy with my J-Wrap, so much, that I‘ve gone ahead and ordered a few more for some of my other mods. I would have given the J-Wraps skin a 5 out of 5 (it came in at a 4) if it weren‘t for the UK shipping cost.
Great buy!
SmokTech RDA Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser: by Vape Guys UK

The Smoktech RDA or ‚rebuildable dripping atomiser‘ is a great way to get started in the world of rebuildable atomisers. A fantastic, affordable, rebuildable dripper that has been getting great reviews left right and centre, this atomiser allows you to build your own coil set-up from your choice of wick and resistance wire (sold separately).
Features:
Sealed battery connector air-hole located on outer casing, 510 threaded screw-less positive/negative post, rebuild using fibre-glass or silica rope and wire, oxidized aluminium construction, fits most 510 drip tips, includes pre-installed wick and wire. Can be used on eGo batteries on mods with 510 threading. You can use dripping e-liquid, e-solid gel and dry contents in this atomiser.
Rebuilding your own coil set-ups on an atomiser like this one can be cost effective and rewarding. HOWEVER it does require a certain level of expertise, and is not for the faint hearted. We do not recommend you purchase this item if
you are not technically minded and / or do not have a good level of dexterity.
Rebuildables can be fun, and whilst you can learn everything you need to know via the internet, we ask you to consider this purchase carefully. Using the Smoktech RDA with a badly made coil can destroy the battery that it is used on. This is why you should always check with a multi-meter first.
Quotes from users of the SmokTech RDA: Daz: Great for starting to learn how to rebuild. Good flavour and vapour production from this.
Five Pawns Castle Long Mixology: by Vape Guys UK
I have heard all the hype and everyone is raving about this juice. It took me a long time to take the plunge and spend what is a considerable amount of money on a bottle of e-liquid, but eventually I did and here are my thoughts.
I purchased this liquid online via a UK vendor at a cost of £25.00 for a bottle of 30ml in 6mg nicotine level. The taste is something I have not tried before and you cannot really taste any one note of the flavours. There is a blend of Kentucky Bourbon, Toasted Coconut, Roasted Almond, Madagascar Vanilla Bean and Caramelised Brown Sugar.
Upon reading the ingredients, I thought this would be a fantastic liquid to vape on, but in my own opinion I really didn’t like the taste. The packaging is great, nicely presented in a cardboard tube, very pleasing, but it must cost a great deal for all that flair.
So, in the drawer it went for about 2 months, but I couldn’t just leave it there, not after spending that much on a bottle. I forced myself to try it again, and it did age well, but it’s still not the vape for me (although the taste did improve slightly). In my opinion, there is too much going on to really savour any of the flavours.
Nice presentation, lovely colour, but the flavour is not for me. If you can, I would recommend trying this before buying. It would be nice to see UK Vendors supplying taste/sample packs of each of the flavours, so you can see if you like them before taking the plunge to buy the larger bottles.

Archive
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 80/20 vg pg.
Created by Avail Vapor in Virginia, Archive is a boutique collection of e-liquids combining complex flavours to create a well-balanced selection to suit many different tastes.
Conjure
The first e-liquid I sampled from this selection was Conjure, which is a nice blend of spices and the light sweetness from apricot. The liquid hopes to replicate jam on toast and in my opinion it achieves that with a lovely well-rounded flavour. Definitely a promising start.
Relic
A tasty, refreshing lemonade vape that is a decent mix of sweet and sour with the addition of juicy strawberry and different citrus fruits. I found this to be an extremely refreshing e-liquid that I could definitely spend a decent amount of time vaping.
Aura
Aura is an interesting mix of flavours - sweet, syrupy watermelon is combined with soothing mint and citrus fruits to create a unique e-liquid unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before. I would definitely highly recommend to those looking
Boss Sauce
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and max vg content.
Boss sauce have developed a line of high end, max VG e-liquids, intended for use in drippers or sub ohm tanks.
Apple Crack
Apple Crack is an addictive blend of apple pie and cereal with hints of cinnamon. None of these flavours are particularly dominant, but the crisp apple does shine through the clearest. The milky cereal and spiced cinnamon pie crust also do their job in complimenting the tart fruit all culminating in a smooth and warming vape, and one that I seem to keep coming back to.
for something new. Paradigm
Describing itself as a refreshing sip from the bottom of a snow come, which I assume is a bit like a slushy, Paradigm is a cool mix of icy strawberry, raspberry and blueberry. Ultra refreshing and something I could probably vape all day.
Oculus
Oculus is a deliciously warming mix of apple pie, crumble and oatmeal with a hint of spicy cinnamon. The predominant flavour is tart apple with a light sprinkling of cinnamon on top, whilst the sweet combination of pie and oatmeal crumble works wonders to take the edge off the sour apple and merge effortlessly with the cinnamon. A truly fantastic dessert vape!
Epiphany
The final e-liquid I tried from Archive was Epiphany, and what an appropriate name it is. Chocolate-flavoured vapes so rarely hit the mark. Tasting exactly like chocolate brownie or cake batter from an almost empty mixing bowl, this is one of those e-liquids that succeeds on every level. The chocolate is rich, and combined with a buttery cream, the vapour production is stellar, the hit is smooth and it absolutely nails it on flavour. Pure indulgent perfection!
Cap’n Crunk
Cap’n Crunk is a smooth and buttery medley of different cereals and creams all combined into a sugary, sweet vape that gives off a slightly different flavour with each thick cloud. All of the e-liquids in this range have fantastic vapour production, and Cap’n Crunk is no different. If I had one criticism of this liquid, it would be that it may be a tad oversweet, unfortunately disqualifying it from all-day vape status in my books.
Custer-Fluck
I am a big fan of a decent custard e-liquid and this is a great tasting one! The addition of vanilla ice cream adds a new dimension and really brings this vape to another level not often achieved by similar custard liquids. A must-vape for custard fiends and those with a sweet tooth.
Caribbean Cream
The final offering from Boss Sauce is Caribbean Cream. A pineapple e-liquid at heart but simply an all-day vape for me. The juicy pineapple is joined by hints of sweet cream to create a vape to satisfy any tropical fruit lover like myself. I love this liquid but I really feel the addition of coconut would take it to the next level as it is quite simple. That being said, I can definitely recommend Caribbean cream and the Boss Sauce range as a whole.

Secret Handshake Vapor Draught
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 80/20 vg.
Hailing from New Jersey, USA, Secret Handshake Vapor Draught have developed a line of unique and inviting flavours. Today I’ll be sampling 3 of their e-juices.
Oath
All of the e-liquids are presented well and have fantastic flavour and vapour production starting with Oath. The main flavours of Oath are vanilla granola with raisins, currants and a light drizzle of honey. The overall taste is rich and varied, but not too sweet which I always count as a massive plus. The oatiness of the granola works fantastically well with the honey and vanilla. I don’t actually get much taste of raisin or currant but I think they are hidden by the other strong flavours. Definitely a good start to this collection.
Trust
Trust is quite simply another great e-liquid from Secret Handshake Vapor Draught. Strawberry and yoghurt are the main flavours present in the initial vape, but there’s another taste there that I’ve never tried before. Upon inspection of the well-presented taste card that comes included in this collection, I discovered it was goji berry. Apparently native to
Majestic E-juice
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 75/25 vg pg.
Today I’m tasting 3 e-liquids from Majestic E-juices ‘Prestige Collection’. A selection of high end, gourmet e-liquids with some interesting flavour combinations that I’m quite eager to get in to.
China, the goji berry adds a fantastic taste to this vape, and which I definitely urge anyone to try.
Wit
The final e-liquid from this collection is Wit. A dessert juice to round off any vape session for me, there are a lot of different sweet flavours in this juice. Again, I was concerned that it might be overly sugary but thankfully I was wrong. Buttery caramel leads in to nougat and coconut, followed by a smooth covering of milk chocolate. Each different component of this vape pulls its weight and they all get their time to shine throughout, making this another success from Secret Handshake Vapor Draught. A highly recommended collection of e-liquids!
No 79
No 79 is an award-winning blend of rich lemon pound cake, with sweet blueberry syrup and a generous dollop of whipped cream. I can definitely see why this is a much loved e-liquid. The taste is just fantastic, and the sourness of lemon mixed with sweeter fruit and cream flavours leave a lovely effect in the mouth. I really did feel like I’d just eaten a gigantic slice of cake. Top marks!
No 29
A fruity, youghurty affair with fantastic vapour production that blends strawberries, raspberries and blackberries into a
rich parfait of berry goodness. All of the fruits are recreated perfectly and the yoghurt brings a kind of sourness to the vape that I’ve rarely seen before. I definitely think that yoghurt is a flavour that’s rarely used in the vaping world and I’d like to taste more like this one in the future.
No 47
I have to start off by saying, I’ve never tasted anything like this e-liquid before. It is completely unique and for that alone it should be applauded. As an added bonus, the flavour is subtle and multi-layered. The inhale is smooth and smothered in white chocolate, that pulled me in straight away, before a cloud of green tea brought me back down to earth leaving me confused, but desperate to keep vaping. Green tea really translates well and I can truly vape this all day and night. It continues to keep me interested and I’m definitely going to be ordering more of this fantastic e-liquid.

Charlie’s Chalk Dust
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine.
Head Bangin’ Boogie
70/30 vg pg
Head Bangin’ Boogie is an interesting mix of blueberry popsicle and tasty tropical fruits which come together to produce a cool, refreshing vape that I simply couldn’t put down. The 70% VG content helped to produce a fantastic amount of vapour with sweet, flavourful clouds every time. It’s a smooth vape with a nice throat hit, but I recommend higher nicotine levels for those desiring more. Blueberry is the flavour that really stands out here, but more subtle tropical flavours like pineapple and lemon do make an appearance, especially on the exhale. This is a vape for a hot, summery day, however it’s a definite contender for all day vape status in my books.
Peanut Butter And Jesus
60/40 vg pg
Those who know me know I love peanut butter so I had high expectations as I filled up my tank with this thick liquid. As I took my first inhale I realised this was unlike any peanut butter liquid I’d ever tried before. The peanut butter is subtle but still flavourful with a hint of vanilla. It’s authentic and not the overly sweet version often featured in similar juices. The flavour is rounded out with strawberry jam, which blends beautifully with the smooth creaminess. Perfection for anyone with a sweet tooth, not just peanut butter lovers.
Tally Ho Vapor Tonic
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine.
Wayfarer - 80/20 vg pg ratio
Hailing from New Jersey, Tally Ho Vapor Tonic have created some rich, complex juices. The first one I tested was Wayfarer, describing itself as a meticulously crafted doughnut baked with aromatic spices and filled with a mild berry jam, I had a rough idea what to expect but was eager to taste. This juice produces a satisfyingly thick cloud filled with a balance of sweet doughnut and warming spices. It is truly delicious. A truly fantastic blend of flavours that I would highly recommend to anyone; this is a real feel-good liquid.
Liturgy - 85/15 vg pg ratio
Liturgy is an extremely complex liquid, boasting flavours of cheesecake, honey, clotted cream, vanilla bean and blueberry. There’s a lot to take in. At first I was slightly confused but after vaping around half or tank or so I really began to love and appreciate the eclectic combination of flavours. This is a thick liquid that produces a lot of vapour with a smooth, sweet hit. At heart, this is a dessert vape and I could definitely see myself becoming tired of the sweetness after a few tanks. But after a nice meal, this really is a “treat yourself” kind of vape.
Trueberry Sugar & Knife
70/30 vg pg
What would a selection of e-liquid from the USA be, without a pancake flavour? In this case, it is maple syrup drizzled over pineapple on top of a sweet American-style pancake. This one is definitely for those with a sweet tooth. The maple syrup is the first and dominant flavour in this vape, and in my opinion the pineapple struggles to cut through, making this an extremely sugar sweet vape that I personally can only take in small doses. That being said; if I am in the mood for something dessert-like this really is hard to beat.
Dolomite - 80/20 vg pg ratio
Finally from Tally Ho comes Dolomite, combining custard, strawberry, vanilla and caramel. At first I was slightly concerned that this would be overly sweet, but from the smell I was confident that it would be well balanced. The custard is creamy and smooth on the inhale with a hint of caramel, the exhale filled with flavours of ripe strawberry and vanilla. Thankfully none of this makes it too sweet, meaning I could definitely see it as an all-day vape. The vapour production is also something to behold, definitely not one to puff away on whilst watching television.
Suicide Bunny
Both E-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 70/30 vg pg.
I’ve heard a lot of hype surrounding Suicide Bunny’s E-liquids from communities like Reddit, so I was eager to see if they were as good as I’d heard.
Madrina
I absolutely love the flavour of this juice, combining juicy melon with complex creams, is a stroke of genius that I never would have thought would work but oh my it does! Everything about this liquid from the comforting flavour to the unreal vapour production just screams quality. The predominant flavour is the melon, and it is a strong flavour but the cream really helps to mellow it out and the effect that it has is perfection for me. Definitely a liquid that I’d like to come back to again and again.
Derailed
I’ve never tried a snickerdoodle cookie before, but after tasting this liquid, I’m frantically searching for somewhere to get them. Derailed combines the sweet and spicy cinnamon snickerdoodle with ripe bananas to produce a warm and comforting vape, perfect for the gloomy winter evenings ahead. The snickerdoodle is the first flavour on the inhale and it tastes like a freshly baked biscuit rolled in sugar and
Clancy‘s
All e-Liquids tested at 3mg nicotine. All liquids 60/40 vg pg.
Southern California based Clancy’s have created a line of vibrant e-liquids, inspired by hot summer days. All the liquids are nicely presented in glass bottles, with lively packaging.
The Wedge
The Wedge is Clancy’s take on the classic key lime pie. Given that this type of flavour is not especially rare, I wasn’t expecting to find anything new here. I couldn’t have been more wrong! The key lime is subtle and refreshing on the inhale, the exhale filled with pie crust and the addition of custard, not often seen in this type of flavour. Vapour production is also stellar at both high and low wattage, and the relatively low amount of VG makes this one suitable for most tanks on the market.
cinnamon. On the exhale the banana joins the party and it’s a very welcome guest indeed, adding another layer to this already complex vape. In short I can’t recommend Suicide Bunny enough and I’d definitely like to try more from them in the future.
Although do be careful in plastic tanks because of the lime flavouring!
Sunburst
Sunburst is simply fantastic, and by far, my favourite e-liquid from Clancy’s. Imagine a bowl of fresh, ripe, tropical fruits thrown into a blender. A mysterious sweet aftertaste also lingers, that I can’t quite put my finger on, but can’t get enough of. This has quickly become an all-day vape for me, and one that’s definitely going in to my rotation.
Riptide
Combining the flavours of raspberry, blood orange and butter cream, Riptide had me intrigued from the get-go. It’s a rich, fruity vape that leaves no question about Clancy’s skilful merging of flavours. It’s a multi-layered liquid, giving each component its time to shine without becoming a jumbled mess. And finally it’s another Clancy’s e-liquid that gets both thumbs up from me.
Gravy Train
The last liquid I tried from Clancy’s was Gravy Train. By this time I was already firmly on board the hype train, so I was excited to try another flavour. I’m happy to say that once again they’ve knocked it out of the park, as this is a really smooth, luxurious vape. English cream, hazelnut, vanilla and caramel - they’re all classics, but together they take on a whole new identity. Sit back and enjoy this one, because after all of these beach inspired liquids what could be better than relaxing as the sun goes down with a nice pudding?
JUICE REVIEWS
3rd Street Vapor Co.
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine.
Today I’m sampling a collection of six e-liquids from 3rd Street Vapor Company, unveiled at ECC 2015.
Crux
All the liquids in this collection are smooth, and have excellent vapour production starting with Crux, a flavour filled with fresh mango and lightly sweetened cream. I am a big fan of mango and it’s well represented in this e-liquid with the sweet fruit combined with a rich cream. A not overly sweet but refreshing vape.
Kairos
Another creamy flavour, this time with the addition of sweet honey and graham cracker which is sort of like a digestive biscuit. This is quite a dessert-like juice and definitely one for a treat in my opinion. Not an all-day vape but a fantastic, luxurious armchair-and-slippers vape.
Shaman
Shaman is a caramelised lemon meringue pie. The lemon is refreshing and tart on the inhale before being joined by the sweetness of vanilla cream and pie crust. An accurate flavour and one I enjoyed a lot.
Darkside
A tasty fruit cocktail consisting of raspberry, sharp lime and orange. At first, the sourness of the lime is the predominant flavour but the raspberry and orange really help to mellow the flavour out, making this one of my favourite e-liquids in the collection.
Cloud Company
All E-liquid tested at 3mg nicotine 90/10 vg pg
Today I’m tasting two E-liquids from Cloud Company, a special brand created by Pip the Bunny from Suicide Bunny (whose liquids I loved). These liquids feature complex flavours and max vg content so are ideal for those using RDAs.
Revel
I get something new from this E-liquid every single time I vape it. Sweet lemon frosting is the main flavour I get but there are many other complex layers of creams, berries and cereals that shine through, making this a sweet citrusy vape with something always lifting it up to the next level. On top of all this, the vapour production is one of the best I’ve ever seen due to the maximum percentage of VG. Open windows in October are never good, but a necessity in this case. The downside of the high level of VG is that it may isolate some vapers lacking the equipment to wick such a thick liquid. But those with RDAs or newer sub-ohm tanks have a real treat in store.
Harmony
Another flavour here with a cream base. This time it’s joined by fresh melon and berries, creating a multi-layered e-liquid with different berries shining through each vape. I really enjoyed this flavour and would like to come back to it again at some point.
Revelation
Rounding off the collection from 3rd Street Vapor Co is Revelation. A rich, buttery raspberry Danish pastry, drizzled with a lemony citrus glaze. The vape is warm and cloudy, filled with flavours of freshly baked pastry and sweetened fruits. I really enjoy this liquid in the mornings with a coffee but I think I’d struggle to vape it all day.
Billow
A fitting name considering the columns of vapour produced by this E-liquid, Billow is a coconut cream cake drizzled with salted caramel. The description of this liquid had my mouth watering as I eagerly filled my tank. Unfortunately this liquid disappointed me. It’s not that it tastes bad; I just feel that the salted caramel was too dominant and I was unable to pick up on any of the other flavours like coconut or cream cake. That being said, it is probably the most accurate salted caramel E-liquid I’ve ever tasted, it’s just that it failed to deliver on its flavour combinations in my opinion.
JUICE REVIEWS
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 70/30 vg pg.
USA based Aisle 7 specialise in cereal influenced e-liquids. Today I’ll be sampling two of their liquids which I am eager to taste as I do enjoy a good cereal vape.
Flaked
First off all of Aisle 7‘s E-liquids are well packaged in glass bottles with droppers and colourful labels so that’s always a good start. The first liquid I’m tasting is Flaked. Based on a frosted flake cereal like the one advertised by everyone’s favourite tiger mascot. I’m certainly expecting this vape to be grrrreat!
Anyway, as I loaded up my tank the smell of sweet, sugary cereal filled my nostrils, and I was excited to vape. The initial taste is of syrupy flakes of cereal whilst the exhale has the creamy, cereal tainted milk, rounding the vape off with a very pleasant aftertaste of the last few drops from the bottom of the breakfast bowl.
Off The Record
All e-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 70/30 vg pg.
Off The Record’s e-liquids are all produced using the finest ingredients and under strict health standards. They claim that each e-liquid is inspired by music that changed their lives.
L.A.M.F
L.A.M.F is a punk-inspired New York cheesecake with strawberries, vanilla and a buttery graham cracker base. I did enjoy this liquid but unfortunately for me, the strawberry wasn’t strong enough to shine through against the other sweet flavours. As cheesecake vapes go, this is a decent one.
Liquid Swords
Influenced by GZA from Wu Tang Clan, Liquid Swords is a delicious blend of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, bananas and pomegranate, all blended up with yoghurt to create a refreshing smoothie-type e-liquid that’s perfect for a wake-n-vape. All the fruits work together fantastically and the addition of yoghurt stops it all from becoming too sweet and syrupy.
Rocks Off
Off The Record created Rocks Off with the Rolling Stones in mind. It’s a cereal vape that distinguishes itself from the others well. Sweet fruity pebbles are combined with
Nora’s Dream
After meeting a young girl suffering from cystic fibrosis the creators of Aisle 7 decided to name this liquid Nora’s Dream, with a portion of each sale being donated to Nora to help with her medical expenses. As expected with such a good cause at hand, this e-liquid has a fantastic flavour to match. Each warm cloud is filled with tasty milk left after the cereals gone. In this case the cereal is a fruit ring type of treat with the sweet and tangy loops combining perfectly with the sweet milk, to create a delicious and accurate recreation of a Saturday morning treat. The only thing missing are the cartoons.
marshmallow and a vanilla rice crispie treat, to create a multi-layered vape with good vapour production. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too sweet for my liking, and I grew tired of it fairly quickly.
Ziggy Starburst
Influenced by who else but David Bowie, Ziggy Starburst is a refreshing snow cone, filled with pink starburst sweets and jackfruit. The flavour really pops in this e-liquid and it really is one of the tastiest in this collection. It’s very cooling and perfect for a summer day!
Raw Power Williamson Reserve
This is quite possibly one of the most decadent, armchairand-slippers vapes I’ve ever tried. I’m not usually one to go for a tobacco flavour, but in this case it’s a mild Cuban cigar, balanced to perfection with hints of butterscotch and vanilla custard. The whole thing topped off with a creamy hazelnut coffee. Just wow. This has quickly become my go-to evening vape, and I’ll definitely be trying to get my hands on more!
JUICE REVIEWS
R&D Creations
All E-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 50/50 pg vg.
R&D Creations, based in Newport, California, have designed a premium line of E-liquids with mainly sweet and fruit flavourings. The first liquid
I sampled from this selection was Shortcakez.
Strawberry shortcake is not something I’ve ever eaten so I was quite excited to try this flavour. Strawberries and cream are always a winning combination and the addition of cake to anything can never hurt in my opinion. As always, before filling my tank I gave the liquid a good sniff which was pretty promising, so on to the vaping. The flavours are excellent, not too much strawberry or cake and the cream tying it all together on the exhale. It’s subtle and nicely sweet, definitely a good start to this collection.
Trickz
Cereal and milk E-liquids seem to be the latest trend at the moment and this is actually the first one I’ve tried. Based on the fruity American cereal Trix with a good splash of milk the smell of the juice was surprisingly accurate. The flavour is hard to describe, the fruit flavour is strong and sweet with the milk following, it really is like a spoonful of cereal. Something I wasn’t expecting to be recreated in an E-liquid but definitely something I want more of!
Mod Fuel
All E-liquids tested at 0mg nicotine and max VG.
Today I have a selection of 3 E-liquids from Mod Fuel E Liquid. Founded in 2012 and mixing mainly fruit influenced E-liquids in their ISO6 class cleanroom. All come in glass bottles with droppers and are nicely presented with colourful labels.
Redstone
Watermelon is quite a rare flavour to find in the UK but apparently far more common in the USA which is where today‘s E-liquids are from. Redstone is a watermelon flavour through and through and despite its simplicity it’s a very tasty vape indeed. I’ve always found watermelon to be extremely cool and refreshing, thankfully this liquid upholds that with a smooth taste and fantastic vapour production.
Skylark
Skylark is another beautifully crafted, fruity vape. Crisp apple is the main flavour but it’s joined with hints of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry to create an awesome blend of summer fruits. The overall taste is not too sweet which is always great in my opinion but those with more of a sweet tooth may prefer a more tropical fruit inspired E-liquid.
Nerdz
I loved the sweets ‘Nerds’ as a kid so when I read that this liquid was based on them I was eager to try as I haven’t been able to find them on the shelves for a while. For those that have never tried them, they are a tangy, sour citrus candy and I’m happy to say this liquid replicates them perfectly. The main flavour is orange candy with a hint of lemon and it perfectly blends sweet and sour. This vape never fails to leave a smile on my face.
Tropicali
The last liquid I tasted from this line was Tropicali, describing itself as a tropical beverage made with strawberries, pineapple and tangerine. As nice as all the other liquids in this collection are this one is by far my favourite. The flavour is fantastically blended, with no flavour standing out but all of them combining into a refreshing, fruity cocktail that I can’t get enough of. All- day vape status confirmed!
Javelin
The name Javelin suggests a sharp flavour and in this case it’s a tart lemonade, tasting almost like cloudy lemonade but with a fruitier exhale. It takes a few seconds for the lemon flavour to really shine through but when it comes to the exhale you’re treated to a cloud filled with sweetness and tartness in equal measure. Another well measured E-liquid from Mod Fuel.
Bord02
All E-liquids tested at 3mg nicotine and 80/20 vg pg Based in Bordeaux, France, Bord02 are famous for their fantastic and unique E-liquids. Today I’m sampling from their Jean Cloud collection, a combination of classic Bord02 vapes remade with 80% VG content.
Cereal Duo Box
The Cereal Duo Box is the newest product from Bord02, containing two brand spanking new cereal E-liquids created by their team of ex-chefs and wine connoisseurs. Let me start by just saying these are the best, most accurate and tastiest cereal vapes I’ve ever had the pleasure of sampling.
Cereal Day
Cereal day is the perfect representation of a bowl of honey nut cornflakes in vape form. The initial flavours are of cornflakes and honey, starting off the vape with a sweet treat, before the nuts join the party adding a whole new dimension of taste. The exhale has the addition of the creamy milk, rounding off this E-liquid and leaving me feeling like I’ve just eaten a spoonful of gorgeous cereal.
Cereal Shoot
Cereal Shoot is another fantastic breakfast time inspired vape, this time it’s an explosion of red fruits and berries combined with honey and milk, with the unmistakeable cereal taste carrying the whole vape along. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and tart with the berries bringing a certain sourness to
contrast the sweet, sticky honey and the milky cereal finish. I highly, highly recommend the Cereal Duo Box to anyone, but especially those bored with the current cereal flavours on the market and looking for something new and far more accurate. I also sampled a couple more flavours from the Jean Cloud collection.
La Baronne
La Baronne is another beautiful tasting E-liquid from Bord02. The predominant flavour is ripe, juicy strawberries, but they’re soon joined by a rich, buttery cupcake and fresh cream on top. It’s an incredibly indulgent vape but one that I didn’t find to be overly sweet, lifting it to all-day vape status for me. The vapour production is amongst the best as-well, driven by the 80% vg content to produce thick, sweet clouds. This is a must-try E-liquid.
Dopamine
Finally from Bord02 is Dopamine, A unique E-liquid that has fast become one of my favourite flavours. Dopamine is an interesting combination of sweet blueberries with hints of aniseed and menthol. At first I was definitely intrigued by the flavour but after a few puffs it just struck a chord with me. I simply can’t get enough of dopamine and I’m definitely going to be trying to get hold of more of it in the future because it’s yet another all-day vape from Bord02.
Bord02 have a huge range of other flavours available in 50/50 pg vg or 80/20 in the Jean Cloud range, also available in many different nicotine strengths. I truly can’t recommend their E-liquids enough!

by Alex ShenkerHOW TO BUILD UNREGULATED DUAL 18650 BOX MOD WITH MOSFET
So you love your mechanical tube mods, who doesn’t?
You also love that unregulated power, straight from a freshly charged battery. But you are looking for a little bit more vape time. If this sounds like you, then building an unregulated dual 18650 box mod might be the perfect choice.
This box mod holds two 18650 batteries which will give you much longer vape time, in comparison to a single 18650 tube mod.
Wiring this box mod in parallel will also increase amp limits for safer sub ohm builds.
This unregulated box mod is one of the easiest mods to build. It is definitely suited to both advanced and newbie builders. Just because this mod is easy to build, doesn’t mean we can’t add in some cool features.
The first thing that we will utilise is a MOSFET. By using a MOSFET, we will be able to use any fire switch that we want, without worrying about amp limits. We are also going to be wiring in optional 15 amp fuses.
Wiring these fuses in parallel will give you a holding limit of 30 amps and a trip limit of 60 amps. This is purely a safety feature and can be omitted if you
practice safe battery usage and understand ohms law. Another optional safety feature is to include a master on/off switch. This switch will allow you to cut off all power to your atomizer, meaning you can now carry this mod in your pocket or bag without the fear of it firing.
If you are interested in building this exact unregulated box mod that I showed you in video tutorial on my website, I do have complete DIY Box Mod Kits available to you. You can find these kits at www.Shop.FindMyVapes.com
IMPORTANT: I do regularly stock these kits but they do sell out fast. Please be patient if they are out of stock, more kits will be stocked soon.
I will go over every item needed to build this unregulated box mod.
I will also include links to each individual part in case you would like to piece together this box mod yourself.

Alright that’s everything, now let’s start building! The first thing I like to do with every box mod, is to sand and even out the enclosure. Many of these project boxes come with slightly slanted sides. This will cause your atomizer to sit at a slant. If this doesn’t bother you, then you can skip the sanding step. To sand the enclosure, I simply use
regular sandpaper and a flat surface. I then slowly sand each edge of the enclosure until I am satisfied with the even angles. Again, this is optional and can be skipped.
Laying It All Out
After I get my enclosure exactly the way I want, I will now plan out the placement of each individual part. I usually start with the battery sled and modify it if necessary. Typically, this involves sanding and rounding out the bottom right corner of the sled.
Next you need to decide where you would like to place your 510 connector. I usually like it in the centre of my box mods, but you can move it to the right or left depending on your own preferences.
Now comes the fire switch; like many box mods, I place my switch on the top left of the enclosures. Again this is personal preference and you can place it on any side. If you decide to follow the same layout of my box mod that I show in the video on my website, then you will be left with a perfect spot for your MOSFET and on/off switch.
Drilling Out The Holes
You can now move onto drilling out all the necessary holes for your unregulated box mod. For this project, all we need to drill is the hole for the 510 connector and the fire switch.
Many of you have asked how I drill out my holes for box mods. I have dedicated a whole video on this topic. The title of that video is “MOD TIPS #02 – How
to Drill Holes for Box Mods” which I definitely encourage you to watch (the URL of which is https://youtu.be/ EG3D6LtAm6s ).
Wiring Everything Up!
Here is the simply wiring diagram that I have created just for you. This is the diagram that we will follow to complete our unregulated box mod.
Please watch the video accompanying this tutorial (URL here: https://youtu.be/ qr3V5A4pK9Y) for more detailed wiring instructions. It is not possible for me to put all the steps in writing.
MOSFET Wiring
We want to first take a look at the
MOSFET (URL here: http://goo.gl/ xuou4g). You will notice that there are 3 legs on the chip. The first leg is known as the “Gate”. This will connect to the master on/off switch which is also connected to the fire switch. The second (middle) leg of the MOSFET is called the “Drain” and will connect to the outer housing of your 510 connector. If you are using a Fat Daddy or Varitube spring loaded 510, you will want to connect this leg to the negative connector on the 510. The last leg of the MOSFET is the “Source” and will connect directly to the negative contacts of your battery sled. Before wiring any of these legs, we need to first solder the 15k ohm resistor to the MOSFET. This 15k ohm resistor will connect to the outside legs of the MOSFET which is the gate and source. I personally prefer to solder the 15k ohm resister to the back of the MOSFET. This is just my personal preference, but if you look at the MOSFET, you will see that there is a perfect empty spot for this resistor. After soldering all your connections to the MOSFET, go ahead and use some heat shrink tubing on all connections. This will prevent the legs of the MOSFET shorting out on each other. Now that the MOSFET is done, let’s move onto the battery sled.
Battery Sled Wiring
Since we are wiring this unregulated box mod in parallel, we will need to wire the battery sled so that the negatives are connected together and the positives are connected together. This will produce the 4.2v battery output and also double the mAH of your mod. The negative contacts will be connected together with a short piece of 16g wire. Go ahead and solder the contacts. The positive contacts will also be connected together but it will first go through two 15 amp fuses. This will give you the 30 amp hold and 60 amp trip as mentioned earlier. Once you have prepared your battery sled, start protecting each connection with heat shrink.
Master On/Off Switch Wiring
Looking at the on/off switch you will see that it has 3 separate legs. This is pretty simple to wire, because we are only going to use the middle leg and one of the outside legs. You can use either outer leg that you want. Whichever outer leg you choose will become the “on” position. The legs on this on/off switch are longer than we need, so I always like to trim them down before making my connections. The middle leg of the on/ off switch will later be connected to the
MOSFET, and the outside leg will end up connecting to the fire switch.
510 Connector Wiring
A standard 510 connector wiring is pretty straight forward. The middle pin is the positive connection and the outer housing is the negative connection. Simply solder your 16g wires to the corresponding locations. The wiring is slightly more involved if you decide to upgrade to a spring loaded 510 connector, but don’t worry, I have made another video dedicated to this topic as well. The title of that video is “MOD TIPS #03 – Fat Daddy vs Varitube Spring Loaded 510 Connector” (the URL is here: https://youtu.be/9PFJyiA6VmQ).
Let’s Put it All Together!
Since you have all the individual parts fully wired already, all that is left is connect everything together. Make sure that you follow the video tutorial on my website for full details and the final wiring. Please refer the provided wiring diagram as well. Once you have everything successfully soldered together, we can now try our new unregulated box mod! Please remember that this box mod is wired in parallel. This means that you MUST place both 18650 batteries in an upright position. Both positives need to face up when placed inside the sled
Final Thoughts:
You should now have an awesome box mod that you created yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back and show off to all your friends! Like all box mods, there are multiple ways to wire your project. The way that I showed you in the aforementioned video, is what I believe to be the easiest and that which provides the most options. We were able to include several safety features into this box mod that you may not find in other diagrams. Of course, feel free to use any wiring diagram that you feel comfortable with. Overall, this is a very simple and basic unregulated box mod and would be the perfect project for the first-time modder. As mentioned earlier, I do carry fully complete DIY Box Mod Kits on this site. Although it has only been open for business for a few short weeks the signs that owners Blake and Mark Lowis are onto a winner here are already very clear.
For a start the Derby Vapers group have already adopted it as their official home and hold their regular meet ups at the venue on Green Lane in the St Peter’s Quarter of Derby City Centre.
This is a huge vote of confidence in both the venue and also in the team behind it who are all passionate vapers and put serving their local community at the heart of their business model.
Blake and Mark are already planning to open two more vaping venues in Matlock and Rotherham and also want to actively break down barriers between the vaping
and non-vaping communities.
The vapers love the fact that Vapey Jacks is owned and run by knowledgeable and passionate vapers who make their own juice on the premises, carry out repairs and recommend products they may like to use.
Non vapers love the fact that this is also a great place to relax - whether you vape or not - and that it is a great place to chill out for a few hours, do some work, have a business meeting or eat their lunch.
Mark said: “As well as selling vaping products, we sell premium bottled beers and wines on the premises, serve excellent teas and coffees too and make
no distinction between vapers and non-vapers.
“We want the wider community to realise that vapers are generally some of the most warm, friendly, open and approachable people you will ever meet and that is very important to us.”
Mark and brother Blake are both former smokers who turned to vaping as a means to quit cigarettes and are passionate about helping others do the same.
Mark said: “Most of the vapers who come here were once regular smokers and turned to vaping as a healthier alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes.
“Unlike smokers, vapers are generally much more appreciative of the flavours involved and it is easy to see why.
After all it is difficult to taste anything or appreciate subtle flavours when your tongue is constantly coated with tar from smoking.
“I used to smoke 40 a day until I started

vaping and realised that I could begin to appreciate flavours once again.
“Suddenly the appeal on sucking on burnt paper did not seem so great any more and now I could never go back to smoking regular cigarettes. Vaping has ruined smoking for me and I am very happy to be able to say that.”
Everything that Vapey Jacks does is about quality products and providing a welcoming, relaxing and friendly environment for their clients.
Mark added: “Our aim is to have a feel of a community centre where vapers and non vapers can enjoy a shared space, relax and have a good time.
“We want the best flavours, the best teas and coffees, the best beers and wines and the best service we can produce.
“Life is stressful enough and a space where people know they come and relax, even if it just for an hour or so, is very important indeed and our customers tell us that this is also what they want so we are happy to provide this for them.”
Vapey Jacks has noticed that it is picking up a lot of clients from other coffee establishments in the city and, because they also serve high quality premium beers and wine, it is also a venue that many people like to visit to kick off a night on the town.
Blake said: “We don’t do food here, only snacks, but we really encourage the lunch-time crowd to come in and eat their lunch here, we just ask that they clean up their own mess when they are finished.”
When Vapouround Magazine visited Vapey Jacks the place was buzzing.
Derby Vapers were holding one of their regular meetings there (it was their first time at the venue and they gave it a massive thumbs up), assistant manager Dominic Bishop was busy making fresh e-juices for customers and everyone seemed happy and relaxed.
Dominic takes great pride in his work and said: “It is really amazing here and we are already getting a lot of repeat customers which is a really encouraging sign.
“People can tell that we have a passion for what we do and that is very important. If you are passing then come in and say ‘hi’ and you will be assured of a warm welcome.”

At the crux of the company ethos is the belief that e-cigarette technology saves lives, and that education is one of the greatest weapons in the fight against Big Tobacco. Jonathan is a reformed smoker and started vaping in 2011. At the time, vapour products were either custom made or Ego's but he luckily discovered the Puresmoker Icon with Carto. After quitting analogs, Jonathan
recommended vaping to his father, who also made the switch to vaping and is all the healthier for it by effectively managing his weight, blood sugar level and diabetes. Since vaping has helped Jonathan and his family, he set up SOSK as a way to give back to the different organisations that do so much for the vaping community. By offering people high quality apparel with classy graphics, he could finally give back in a more substantial way and since starting the company, SOSK has donated nearly $3000 to CASAA and SFATA.
Jonathan said: “I started this company to promote a message of unification in this massive community. There is no other hobby that can bring so many different kinds of people together in harmony. The vape community is an example of
a society can and should be. My team and I strive to be an example of what a member of this community should be –helpful, humble and respectful.”
SOSK hold monthly meets at a local shop in New York and will be throwing meets similar to how they were before vaping became popular. People attending these meets come along because of a shared interest in vaping, common ground and a sense of familiarity. These meets are great fun where vapers can chillax, connect with fellow vapers and indulge in pizza and fun creative games.

Vivdvapes ltd independent lab tests puts vapers first
Walk onto the street and you’ll see at least one vaper puffing away, lost in a cool cloud of contentment. From newbie vapers weaned off tobacco, to flamboyant cloud-chasers, the vaping crowd is eclectic and its appeal diverse. Many vapers, new and seasoned alike, simply enjoy their vape, without knowing the intricacies surrounding their vapes. Do you know what was in your last vape? E-liquids are available the world over, so how can you guarantee that the contents of your vape are safe?
Vivd Vapes is a supplier of only premium quality e-liquids. The company was borne out of a passion to sell products of distinction that are scientifically tested to ensure safety of vapers, whilst placing wellbeing at the forefront of the company’s ethos.
Established in 2012, founder of Vivd Vapes, Tony Esposito said: “Having been a smoker for 35 years, I know what it’s like to be in the shoes of a confused vaper new to the arena. With thousands of e-liquids on the market, it can be something of a mine-field choosing one that suits your tastes. After dedicated research I have curated a list of premium juice suppliers from the USA as I am obsessive about offering clients e-liquids that deliver on quality, price and taste.”
Ingredients used in the Craft Vapes, Craft Clouds and Miss Pennyworth’s Elixirs are FDA approved and UK CHIP/CLP compliant, and Lefrencheliquid adheres to EU regulations and EU certified suppliers.
These juices are hand-made and created in small batches, highlighting Vivd Vapes’ stance on being a purveyor of only the very best. It is a company that embraces transparency and feels it has a duty of care to inform and safeguard its customers, whilst bringing only the best products and services to market.
With this in mind, Vivd Vapes has invested in testing their popular line of Craft Vapes and Vivd Vapes newest addition, Lefrencheliquid. E-liquid samples were dispatched to a laboratory based in the US, which is accredited to the ISO17025 standard by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. Here, project scientists utilised internationally accepted test methods, enhanced and adapted for the laboratory to deliver high quality data. Conclusive lab results show that Craft Vapes are free from Diacetyl, Acetoin, and Acetyl Propoinyl which are used to impart a buttery flavour to the vape and which have been cited to induce respiratory problems.
Taking a stand against the European Commission which declared Diacetyl legal, Vivd Vapes puts the safety of vapers above and beyond anything else and is proud to announce that their Craft Vapes e-liquids are Diketone-free. Brands available for wholesale are in the midst of a labelling upgrade, meaning that 100% of Vivd Vapes’ brands will soon all be compliant.
All certificates and laboratory test results are available to view online.

How to make vaping a breeze
Finding a company that you can really trust to deliver time and time again is rarely easy. But finding one in the vaping industry can seem particularly hard, due to the speed at which everything is evolving and the amount of substandard and dodgy imports flooding the market. When you are just starting out on the vaping journey, simply the complexity of what is on offer can be daunting, and getting trustworthy and experienced advice on what you actually need can feel almost impossible. For some it's easier just to stick with what they know –the cigarette.
vaping has changed my life is a massive understatement.” Keith adds, “Not only have I been able to forget about cigarettes completely and feel it pretty strange to light a fire inches from my face now, but I’m able to smell and taste all the lovely and not so lovely things in the world around me. Food tastes so much better too.”
Independently, Lisa and Keith turned to the internet to find out more, and joined the E-Cig Forum (ECF) to get advice from other vapers. Chatting on ECF is actually how Lisa and Keith met. They forged such a strong personal bond that when Lisa started her online business, Keith was on hand, electronically, to help out.
Lisa recalls, “The vaping products generally available then were limited to what we now refer to as ‘cigalikes’. Although these proved the vaping concept was viable, the products weren’t suitable for long-term use to entirely replace a moderate or heavy
But this issue turns to vapour once you discover Crème de Vape (formerly known as Cloud9 Vaping). Established way back in 2009, right at the very start of the UK vaping scene, Crème de Vape is widely considered the company to trust on all things vape-related. Consistently voted No.1 online retailer on the independent site Trustpilot, CDV have won of a string of awards for their outstanding customer service and stringent standards on what they stock. With their combined experience in retail, customer service and IT, owners Lisa and Keith make the perfect business team. But what’s the secret that really lifts them above the competition? And what’s the story behind Crème de Vape? Both Lisa and Keith were heavy smokers when they discovered vaping in 2009. Lisa remembers, “I was facing life as a smoker until it killed me, and to say that
“The vaping products generally available then were limited to what we now refer to as ‘cigalikes’. Although these proved the vaping concept was viable, the products weren’t suitable for long-term use to entirely replace a moderate or heavy smoking habit”
smoking habit. Suppliers of standard vaping equipment, particularly in the UK, were few and far between and no-one was making more advanced devices generally available.
“The idea began to form of combining all my skills to create a top-class online vape-shop that would be at least as good, if not better, than the tiny number of suppliers that were around at that time.”
She started the business in the UK, with Keith providing first advice and then more and more involvement from the US. And vaping changed their lives still further: Keith moved to the UK... where the two married.
“Keith and I agreed that we wanted to take all this uncertainty out of the vapebuying process. Vaping forums are great for the latest news and views, but at the end of the day, even if people are raving about something, you need to know that where you buy it from can be trusted.
With Crème de Vape, customers know everything has been stringently tested. That’s an important part of what we give our customers - reassurance.”
Keith adds “We based our company ethos fundamentally on what we would personally want from a company, which is why we knew we had to test every single product we sold - and not just a quick drag or taste; we needed to really put it through its paces.
This means Lisa and Keith test every device by using it for at least a week or two, checking for handling, performance, leaks, everything. As Keith says, “If we wouldn’t buy it for ourselves or the team, it doesn’t make it to the website. The list of products that don’t make the grade is
far longer than the list of those that do.”
The only slight drawback to this is that there is now a huge hardware graveyard at Crème de Vape HQ. “It takes up almost an entire room - all rejects that just didn’t meet our standards or expectations,” says Keith.
But corners cannot be cut. “Even if you have been vaping for years, the industry changes so fast that many avid vapers struggle to keep up! We see it as our responsibility to ensure that our customers have access to the most up-to-date vaping equipment - and we’re actually the sole UK distributor for several product ranges.”
As well as the highest standards of quality and innovation, Crème de Vape
“The vaping industry is on the brink of its biggest change yet, and only those that are prepared and willing to go that extra mile or two will survive and thrive”
know there is still more to customer satisfaction. “Right from the start, what was also centrally important was superfast shipment and a live inventory, so no customer ever has to experience the disappointment of choosing and ordering something that is out of stock or back-ordered. And at the same time we wanted to be great value for money - most of the time we are actually less expensive than our competitors, even with all the extra reassurance we offer.”
So why would such a successful company, with a great worldwide reputation and goodwill, change its name?
In short: legal reasons. A number of other vaping shops around the world have used the ‘Cloud9’ name in recent years, and Lisa and Keith knew their hard earned reputation risked being tarnished by other vendors. After two years of legal disputes, stress and lawyers’ fees, they decided to move on and re-brand their beloved, hard worked-for Cloud9. They had faith that their thousands of loyal customers would embrace the new brand, knowing that Crème de Vape would stand as firmly for all the same things Cloud9 did, and perhaps, going into the challenges of the TPD, even more.
The vaping industry is on the brink of its biggest change yet, and only those that are prepared and willing to go that extra mile or two will survive and thrive. Crème de Vape have been a trusted part of the vape scene, both in the UK and internationally, for the past 6 years - and have every intention of continuing to do so for many more years.
my journey into vaping
By Denis Deslauriers, CanadaI had been smoking since the age of 15, from one to two packs a day. Although I had tried to stop and go cold turkey when I was in my 30s, I had found myself starting up again within a few months. Everybody smoked in those days and it was far too easy to fall back into my old pattern, and I did.
I have never tried patches, gums, and other cessation aids. Why? Mainly because of the cost, or the fact that they had to be prescribed by a doctor, or that most people I knew who had tried these methods, experienced negative side-effects and found them to be ineffective in the end. Thirty years ago, I had no option other than trying to go cold turkey again, or to get professionally hypnotized. Instead I gave up trying and continued smoking for another 15 years! One day last year, I was introduced to vaping by my sister’s friend. He showed up using a small Ego-style vaporizer. This device fascinated me. Could it be the alternative to cigarettes I had been looking for?
I looked into it but, from the get go, I felt I needed something more powerful than a basic Ego system. After all, I was smoking over 30 cigarettes a day, and I didn’t intend to fail again in my effort to stop. After a tonne of research, I went into my local vape shop. Thinking I knew what I needed, I bought an Aspire K-1 with a Tesla 1100mah variable wattage battery and started vaping. I am now 60 years old and have stopped smoking since 27th December 2014. I kept my last pack and dated it as some sort of trophy and reminder. To this date, it’s been about 10 months.
Within a week of starting to vape, I had
stopped using cigarettes altogether and I haven’t smoked since. Today I feel great and continue vaping. Overall, I have felt only positive effects on my health and my surroundings.
In order to keep my costs down I started mixing in pure vegetable glycerin (VG).
To accommodate my increased use of VG, I had to acquire more efficient tanks and batteries. Less powerful devices do not vaporize high VG very well, if at all.
I did not know that adding a bit of water helps smaller devices cope with the higher VG. I now use an “open system” composed of a separate battery and a refillable tank. I prefer sweet flavours and
I was never attracted to tobacco flavours. Following the recommendations given to me at the vape shop, I first started vaping using e-liquid containing 12-18mg of nicotine but I have since reduced to about 3mg.
I consider “closed systems” and throwaways like “Cigalikes” and similar inhalers, commonly referred to as first generation devices, not sufficient to stop smoking. I believe I would still be smoking if I only had access to those devices.
I also try to avoid using the term “e-cigarette” and prefer personal vaporizer or any descriptive term not comprised of the word cigarette.
I am also suspicious of cigarettelooking products. In my opinion, these “Cigalikes” are usually ineffective for the “pack-a-day” smokers wanting to switch. After around 10 months into vaping, I must confess that I’m getting tired of all the demonizing going on about vaping that I have come across. Based on my experience, vaping should be received
as a positive alternative, but it is turning into a battle against naysayers and misinformation. I am always surprised at the exaggerated claims about the addictive and negative effects of nicotine. Some organizations even compare it to heroin or cocaine, which is preposterous!
I have actually reduced my nicotine intake considerably since I started vaping.
Vaping is not smoking. Current scientific evidence as well my own experience seems to condone my decision to use this method to stay away from cigarettes. Furthermore I have found vaping a pleasurable experience on its own and an enjoyable pastime. I try to get friends and members of my family that still smoke to try vaping, whilst respecting their freedom of choice, and realising the difficult task they face to become smokefree.
I now feel that all the negative press is taking its toll on public opinion, and in order to protect my freedom to vape, I’ve become an advocate. I try to educate and fight for everyone’s right to vape. I realize that every vaper has to try to protect his or her rights. The battle is being fought right now. Now is the time to act, before it’s too late. I will never go back to smoking and vaping gives me a tool to fight the urge to light up when I occasionally have it. I’m tobacco-free after 45 years of slavery and I’m very proud and happy about it.

E-Liquid Labelling Machines
In the past two years, Advanced Labelling Systems Limited (ALS) has supplied labelling machines designed specifically for the e-liquid and e-cigarette industries. These range from bench-top, semi-automatic labelling machines to fully automatic in-line labelling systems.
The ALS 4310 MRU (multi roller unit) is a simple, easy to operate wraparound labelling machine to save you time when labelling e-liquid. Its robust construction and quick change over of label rolls make it ideal for smaller startup operations or when short batches of product need to be labelled. The bottle is hand loaded into the machine and the operator presses a footswitch which in turn rotates the bottle and simultaneously applies the label to the circumference. Throughput is around 20 bottles a minute dependent on
operator dexterity.
Options include printing of batch codes, etc. using a thermal coder and where a triangular tactile warning label is required, the addition of a second applicator to the ALS 4310 MRU to apply a tactile label onto the main body label. ALS has also designed an automatic wraparound labelling system for the e-liquid industry to apply a pre-printed label to the circumference of a small diameter bottle. This system has been designed for integration into a complete production line and is fitted with two ALS
204 labelling heads to enable a tactile warning label to be applied to the main body label. The second labelling head then applies the ‘combined’ label onto the bottle ensuring that the tactile label is always positioned in the same place The system also consists of a stainless steel conveyor fitted with an in-feed spacing device and wraparound unit to support the bottles as the labels are applied
Available options include missing labelon-product detection, reject system for missing labels, rotary collection table and a thermal printer option.
Advanced Labelling Systems Limited is an independent, British, family-owned company established in 1997 and has
a wealth of experience designing and building industrial labelling machines for all types of industries.
Their recently modernised factory in Oxfordshire welcomes all visitors by appointment to discuss customers’ requirements and to demonstrate their range of e-liquid labelling machines.
This system has been designed for integration into a complete production line and is fitted with two ALS 204 labelling heads to enable a tactile warning label to be applied to the main body label.

MightySkins have designs on your mod
What is the perfect marriage? Ham and cheese. Coffee and vape. Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Skins and mods. Say what?
Yup, there is a rise in the desire to personalise your mods and we totally understand why. One of the more obvious reasons is that people love to customise and put their own stamp on their tech. If everyone had the same mods with the same black or metal casing, the world would be a very boring place. Monochrome may have been cool in the 1990s, but now vapers are getting really creative and letting their artistic flair shine through. One of the cool spaces that do great skins on our radar is aptly named MightySkins. Based in
the heart of South Florida, every single skin is designed, printed and hand-made in the US.
Are you born procrastinator? Do you get easily flummoxed with choices in life? Then be prepared to leisurely while away time as you peruse the MightySkins website which showcases hundreds of their brilliant designs.
If the dizzying diversity wasn’t enough, you can even create your very own skin with a custom design of your choice. You simply upload your image and ping it over to the MightySkins headquarters, where they will work their magic. The process is as simple as vaping. All you need to do is choose your model, upload your design
PimpMod My
then add it to your cart. Once you complete the checkout process, the design team will create a digital proof of your design. This proof will be emailed to you for your approval within two business days and you are urged to approve quickly because the MightySkins team cannot wait to get working on your wonderful bespoke creation.
Skinning your mod is an easy way to make a statement about yourself and to separate yourself from the crowd, but that's certainly not the only reason people enjoy them. Skins also offer a layer of protection against dints, scratches, and general wear and tear. It doesn’t matter if you’re as clumsy as Charlie Chaplin, constantly tripping up and wreaking havoc wherever you go. Any device starts to look a little worn over time with regular use and instead of forking out for a brand new mod, why not show your existing some much needed TLC?
MightySkins are an affordable way to breathe new life into your dog-tired mod. The skins protect against the ravages of time. They can also be easily removed without leaving behind any stick residue
like some other wraps, even if your skin gets damaged or worn. You can flit between skins if you fancy a change –just do whatever your little heart desires, and get peeling.
Skins also offer much more of a "wow" factor than a plain, solid-colour silicone sleeve. From a safety point of view, they don't trap and retain heat or add bulk to the device like regular sleeves would. Some of MightySkins’ most popular
Then someone else comes in and sits down next to you, with the exact same mod, when you're not paying attention because you’re just so busy enjoying your after-work vape (that you so rightfully deserve after a hard day in the office). You turn around and reach for your mod... but which one is yours? You don't want to accidentally pick up a vape that some stranger's mouth has been all over. Having a distinctive skin on your mod can not only help you identify it in a crowded room, but can also protect you from yucky disease in a potentially confusing situation.
There are gazillions of different reasons why people love skins (especially MightySkins), and why they're getting more popular all the time. Don’t just take our word for it. Judging from online customer reviews, MightySkins are a popular company that have a plethora of satisfied customers. Being applauded for quick delivery and perfectly fitted skins, there is a lot of noise about this company who have struck a chord with vapers worldwide.
designs are various marble, wood, leather, camouflage and carbon fibre patterns, including visually intense designs like Mystic Flames (in Red or Blue) and Nebula.
There are, of course, some other benefits to having a skin on your device that people don't always think about. Let's say you're chilling at a vape bar.
They ship to virtually any address in the world, considerately provide an estimate of shipping and delivery dates and will also pay return shipping costs if the return is a result of their error.
Discerning customers who’d like to find out more information about Mighty Skins, and retailers who want to carry Mighty Skins’ products can hunt them down on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or hop onto website www.mightyskins.com.

A TO Z OF VAPING
Part One
Like every niche group, the vaping community has its own set of terms and slang which may be confusing to those new to vaping and totally unintelligible to those outside the community.
Over the next few issues Vapouround Magazine will take a look at some of the more popular, and not so popular, terms related to vaping and e-cigarettes. So let’s get started with the first batch of vaping-related words and phrases.
AAcrolein – Acrolein is a byproduct of combustion and is produced when e-liquid is heated to incredibly high temperatures. It is a colourless liquid with a piercing acrid smell and has been linked to lung cancer in traditional cigarette use. Strong irritant to skin, eyes, and nasal passages.
Adapter – A device which allows a head unit with a given thread connector system to fit on to a battery holder body with a different connector. This allows vapers to have the vapor production of one style of atomizer, while using the battery life of another style battery.
Advanced Personal Vaporizer (APV) – APVs are the largest of the three main classes of e-cigarette (mini, mid-size and APV). They offer large battery performance, digital readouts, high voltage, variable voltage, variable power, integral liquid feed and other features that many vapers enjoy.
Adjustable airflow – This is a part on most vaping tanks which allows more air to be included in the process of vaping which results in more clouds of vapour and a cooler vapour as the amount of air is increased.
All Day Vape – This is your favourite e-liquid flavour that you tend to enjoy day in and day out without getting tired of it. You may have an all day vape flavour and other flavours that you use for a change from time to time. Obviously tastes change and people’s choice of all day vape flavour can change over time too.
Alternative Cigarettes – Another name for electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes. The opposite of Analog which is a slang term used to describe “traditional” cigarettes. Note that the US spelling for 'analog' always tends to be used.
Amps – Amps, or amperage, erage is simply a measure of the energy flow within a circuit. In the context of APV’s be aware that the lower the amps, the less capable you are of using high voltages on low resistance atomizers.
Aqueous Glycerine (AG) – When making e-juice you will need to mix vegetable glycerine (VG) with deionized water to thin it down and make it less viscous so that it achieves a consistency which is good for vaping. The thinned mixture is known as aqueous glycerine.
Atomizer – This is the part of the e-cigarette which turns the liquid into vapour. It works by heating a coil that is in contact wwith the filler material containing the e-liquid.
Automatic – This is a type of electronic cigarette/vaporizer battery that does not have a button to activate the heating element. In these devices, when the user draws on the mouthpiece, a sensor within the atomizer is activated by changing air pressure and the heating element is activated this way.
BBattery – This is obviously a key component of the e-cigarette as it is the power source for the heating element which turned the e-liquid into vapour. Batteries can be either automatic or manual. Automatic batteries are activated when the user draws on the mouthpiece and manual batteries are activated by a button press. Batteries can come in a variety of shapes
and power outputs and are generally rechargeable lithium ion devices.
Battery cutoff - Automatic batteries normally have a cutoff time limit of around 6 to 12 seconds to prevent burnout of the device. After this time the power will be automatically cut off even if the user continues to draw air through the mouthpiece for longer. There may also be cutoffs where the total operational time of the battery can be limited in a given time period, say over three minutes for example.
BCC – This abbreviation stands for bottom coil clearomizer where the atomizer where the coil is found within the base of a (usually) replaceable cartridge in which is contained the coil, wick, and centre air channel.
BDC - Bottom dual coil clearomizer. As above but this time the unit contains a dual coil.
Best Atomiser - You may often hear vapers say that “x” or “y” is the best atomiser and they will then often be able to speak at great length about why they are right. Actually this is a bit of a fiction as there is no one best atomiser just as there is no one best car or even football team. It is a totally subjective matter and what is best for one person may not be at all suitable for another. Whatever atomiser best meets your particular needs at any given time will be the best atomiser for you.
Bricks and Mortar Establishment – A physical store where you can buy electronic cigarettes and other vaping related products as opposed to an online store selling the same products. Some companies only operate online, some only through physical stores and some have both online and offline presences.
Bridge - this is the small U-shaped wire mesh arch which is found above the heater coil in a regular atomiser. The bridge in modern atomisers is mainly there to hold liquid for nebulising, and it contributes to creating a liquid-saturated atmosphere around the coil.
cigarettes is referred to as clouds.
Coil – The wire that is used to vaporise the e-liquid by creating an electrical circuit. The coil is usually made up of Nichrome or Kanthal wire. The coil must be either immersed in liquid or a saturated atmosphere otherwise it will overheat.
Cut-Off – A safety feature that automatically stops you from taking a drag on your e-cig if you take a drag for too long. It prevents the atomizer from overheating. There are flashing LED lights that usually let you know the feature is being used.
Cartridge (Cart) – A plastic or covered metal mouthpiece that forms part of a 3-piece set and which usually contains with some sort of absorbent filler material that holds e-liquid.
Cartomizer (Carto) – A cartomizer or carto is a combination of disposable cartridges and atomizers. They hold more e liquid than a regular cartridge/atomizer combination. The cartomizer tank is placed in the middle of the tube and is designed to hold to e liquid. It is typically made of poly-fill surrounding a type of gauze material that is wrapped around an atomizer coil and a plastic centre tube for airflow.
Clearomizer – A clearomizer is a transparent version of a cartomizer, designed to let users know how much e liquid they have left. It is usually made of thin plastic to maintain transparency. Clearomizers typically hold 2-3 ml of e-liquid, depending on the size and design.
Clouds – The vapor that is exhaled when smoking electronic
DDeck – The flat base area where the positive and negative posts sit on an RBA/RDA, which is designed to keep e liquid off of the battery connection.
Digital Cigarette – Another name for electronic cigarettes. Disposable E-Cigs – Electronic cigarettes that are designed to be used and then thrown away.
CDIY (Do-It-Yourself) – Term used to people that make their own e liquid or hardware.
Dragon Coil – Can be either macro or micro coils, they are wrapped as normal but the wick is wrapped outside of the coil so that air can flow through the inner diameter. Can increase vapor production with enough air flow.
Draw – Vapers inhale from their mouth on the electronic cigarette mouthpiece.
Drip – To drip drops of e-liquid into an atomizer.
Drip Kit – A battery, atomizer chamber, and drip tip, designed specifically for dripping.
Drip On-Demand (DOD) – An add-on that is used to feed e liquid into your atomizer by squeezing the bottle. It makes dripping easier.
Dripping – Vaping by adding a few drops of e liquid directly into the atomizer chamber instead of using a cartridge. This is the method that gives the best vapor quantity and flavor quality.
Drip Shield – The drip shield is a round metal or plastic tube that slips over your atomizer. If leaking occurs on your atomizer, the liquid will leak into the drip shield instead of leaking onto your PV. It then returns the excess e liquid to the atomizer to be used.
Dry Burn – Purposely firing an atomizer on a battery without e liquid to saturate it, which results in the heating up, and glowing of the coil. This allows the cleaning of the coil by burning off impurities.
Dry Hit - The first draw taken after refill liquid runs low is called a dry hit. it will consist of low vapour volume, with hot, thin vapour and a noticeably dry quality to the vape.
Dual-Coil Cartomizers – A cartomizer that has two coils instead of one.
Come Vape With Us
The setting: Craig-Y-Nos Castle, on the edge of Fforest Fawr in South Wales.
The invitation: an opportunity to take vape taste testing to the next level, in a true fine dining environment.
On a golden autumn evening, the guests, impeccable in tuxes or frocks, saunter into the conservatory. The view of the Welsh countryside is splendid, but the real treats are to come, as ‘Mick’ the Butler enters bearing a tray with some most unusual aperitifs.
This is a vaping 'dinner party', and the tray offers a selection of atomisers containing delicious cocktail and soft drinks vapes, including Cherry Kola,
Blue Hawaii, Mojito and Pina Colada. For the less exotically-minded, Dandelion & Burdock, Sarsaparilla, Kola, Zingo ( lemon, lime and orange) and Red Zip are on offer.
The guests leisurely exchange flavours and savour the ambience, resisting numerous requests to enter the Dining Room, until finally Mick the Butler's gong loudly insists, and the guests stroll in to take their places.
Awaiting them is a grand table with the welcoming glow of candelabras and a delectable menu. But in the place of the usual knifes and forks are batteries and atomizers. The choice of starter vape is Maple Hot Wings, a DV savoury favourite known for being a real mouth-waterer as well as an eye-waterer, and melon, the main course is Roast Beef, Roast Chicken or Smokey Bacon.
Mick glides with silent expertise around the room, ensuring that no guest is ever vapeless. As other hotel diners look on with interest from their more conventional evening fare, the vaping diners chat happily to each other Bong! The Butler interjects with, “Orders for desert are now being taken.”
The diners are spoiled for choice. Blackberry Crumble, Creme Anglais, a long term firm favourite with customers, Lemon Meringue and Banoffee. And as lovers of all things 70’s around the table, it can only be Black Forest Gateau. Each guest savours their chosen treat as they relax further in into the evening's most conducive atmosphere. True to form, one guest requests “some of each”. There's always one. No real dinner party is complete without coffee, and tonight there is a choice of five kinds, each with its own distinctive flavour. Seasoned coffee drinkers order the caffeinated Doppio Espresso, while the more reserved
palates sample the frothy Cappuccino or the delicate and subtle balance of sweet, creamy Café au Lait. There was even the favourite 'real' tipple, Irish coffee.
As ten o' clock strikes, the guests are directed into the drawing room with its deep-filled sumptuous armchairs. In keeping with tradition, the gents gather around the fireplace; smoking is one habit they have all gladly relinquished, but their satisfied vape clouds fit this atmosphere perfectly.
Mick has reloaded his tray with a selection of fine floral and tobacco flavours and for the first time all evening suddenly announces “DV is the only company that makes its own tobacco bases. We filter actual tobacco almost to the molecular level. That’s why I truly think our tobacco flavours are some of the best, if not the best, in the world.”
He retreats sheepishly as though he felt his outburst surprised. After a refined evening of Decadent Vaping, it is time for the guests to climb into their coaches and depart. A vaping dinner party is a great way to lose weight and have a thoroughly fun time – though it must be acknowledged that a few homeward guests take a detour to the building with the golden arches; there are some needs that not even the finest vape can satisfy.
