About Varley Education Programs Welcome to the Varley Art Gallery of Markham! Located on Historic Main Street Unionville, our gallery spaces feature historical and contemporary art by regional and national artists with a special focus on the art of Frederick Horsman Varley (1881 – 1969), a founding member of the Group of Seven. We offer a variety of programs that extend the learning experience beyond your classroom through site-specific arts education. Inspired by our exhibitions, these programs change seasonally, making every visit unique! These programs are designed to complement and enhance the Ontario Curriculum for Visual Arts, Language Arts, Social Studies and Geography, stimulating students to observe, interpret, describe, connect and create. The Varley Education Programs include guided cross-curricular tours and indoor/outdoor studio workshops for all grade levels. The Varley Art Gallery offers you two program choices: Exhibition-based Programs which allow students to visit the Gallery and Outreach Programs where our Education team visits your classroom.
