About Varley Seniors Education Programs Welcome to the Varley Art Gallery of Markham! Located on Historic Main Street Unionville, our gallery spaces feature historical and contemporary art by regional and national artists with a special focus on the art of Frederick Horsman Varley (1881-1969), a founding member of the Group of Seven. We offer a variety of programs that extend the learning experience beyond the gallery through arts education that is tailored to your needs. Utilizing the Visual Arts, Varley outreach programs are designed to complement and enhance the lives of our community members, by stimulating participants to observe, interpret, describe, connect and create. Accessible to all abilities, Varley Education Programs include guided cross-curricular tours and indoor/outdoor studio workshops.

Integral to the programs are conversations around culture and identity that will act as a springboard for individual art projects. Themes around personal stories, language, culture, and more will foster exploration of art, heritage and self-expression. On the final week of the programs, all participants will be invited to visit the Varley Art Gallery for a guided tour of our current exhibitions led by a highly trained docent. 6 Week Art Exploration Program Participants experience 6 weeks of interactive hands-on art workshops, exploring paint, printmaking, sculpture and more!
