Past Events.

8th December – Motorcycle Noggin, Christmas Special. About 50 met to enjoy the final catered meal by the Club Caterers, who now slip into retirement. Thanks, guys; you excelled yourselves for this, your final act for the VCC Canterbury Branch. 11th December – Fish and Chip Run. An extra slipped in as there was no F and C run in November (cancelled) and there isn’t a December run at EOM. About 20+ bikes met for the run into North Canterbury to visit 3 sheds; and lunch was at Sheffield Pies in Oxford. Deteriorating weather though put a damper on the day’s proceedings, but still a great day out. 2nd January – Motorcycle New Year Run. About 22 bikes went again into North Canterbury on a circuitous run to the recently reopened Greta Valley Pub. Great warm day slightly overcast which made it a much more pleasant riding experience. 29th January – Fish & Chip Run. Actually in the future at time of writing – is to be a run to the Hororata Swap Meet, but as this has been postponed will be a run to – elsewhere… Will put the Ashburton run on hold for another time. Will report on this F and C run next month.

Future Events. 9th February – Noggin Night. The organiser of the “Ride Forever” motorcycle courses, Dan Ormsby, is unable to speak at this noggin, but his offsider will be there to speak instead. We’ll hold it in the Barn, from 7.30 am. It is likely that a course will be organised for 19th March. One course was run a couple of years ago with a follow-up to come, but COVID made a good job of stuffing things up.

13th February – Moped Run. Graham Barnett is the organiser of this event; it will start from the New World supermarket in Halswell at 10.30 am. Please see elsewhere in this Hub for more details.

19th February – Clip-on Run. Doug Watkinson is the organiser; please see elsewhere in this Hub for further details.

26th February – Fish and Chip Run. Cancelled for this month as this day is the

VCC Canterbury Branch Annual Rally.

Motorcyclists who are looking for a run on this day please consider entering the Annual Rally. There are a large number of motorcycle trophies up for grabs; the run does have motorcycle friendly instructions and the like. Support YOUR CLUB on its premier event for the year. STOP PRESS… At the time of writing we do not know what is happening with this event. (See page 10Ed) We’ll put out an email with more information after the main committee meeting which is on Monday 31st January. 4 – 5 – 6th March – Jim Toohey Run. To the West Coast. Leaving Friday 4th , accommodation reserved at the Recreation Hotel, Greymouth. On the Saturday a good run is being organised, out and back, but will be weather dependent. Home Sunday to Christchurch. Look out for separate email seeking interest for accommodation. Organiser, Mike Glenday, 021 192 0581 or mike.heatherg@xtra.co.nz. At this stage this event WILL BE CARRYING AHEAD. We don’t get 100 on this run, so no reason why it cannot proceed. More information will be emailed out after the main committee meeting, and the motorcycle committee meeting on 9th February. 9th March – Noggin Night. Meeting outside Armadillo Café, Prebbleton, 6.00pm, for a ride to the Crate and Barrel in Leeston for a pub meal. Home in own time after. 19th March – Ride Forever Course, Dan Ormsby. More details to come, will be an email out about this closer to the time, and so look out for it. Also, more details in March Hub. Paul Ainsworth – Ainsworth.electrical@xtra.co.nz is the contact for this event. Please contact him directly for information and your entry. 26th March – Fish & Chip Run.

That’s it for this month, CML.

Moped Run - Sunday 13th February

Meet at the Halswell New World car park at 10.00 am for a 10.30 start.

It will be a flat run, so asthmatic bikes can participate with confidence. A back up trailer available. Dress to be seen. If you need to know more, phone Graham 027 240 6297

Clip On Run, Saturday 19th February, 10:00 a.m.

The 2022 Clip On Run will start in Blakes Road in Prebbleton. Travelling into Prebbleton from the north head down Springs Road and turn right at the first roundabout. As you enter Blakes Road, All Saints Church is on the left, and Prebbleton School is on the right. There is plenty of parking outside either facility on that section of Blakes Road. There will be an interesting run of approximately 20 km to 'The Laboratory' cafe in Lincoln.
