VOG REPORT Velosolex Owners Group
Spring weather is sure fickle eh!! Once again we had to delay our monthly run by a week due to unseemly weather on Tuesday 12th, but the 19th turned out to be a fabulous day for the “Gang” to hit the roads. This month we headed over to the Preston Downs area for our start from Marshlands Domain. An interesting ride around the streets of Queenspark, Burwood and Brighton with VOG 1 taking the lead trying to ensure none of the 10 riders went astray which is always quite a mission when you have to contend with traffic lights, stop and giveway signs and always remembering that not all bikes are as “fast” as some so it’s a matter of trying to keep the “speed” down. One of our riders Grant Lomax found that his “supercharged” machine kept clogging up and not performing at it’s peak due to the slow speed, this was remedied when we got to Rockinghorse Road where Grant was able to open up the throttle and give the motor a good blow through. A short stop was made at New Brighton beach by the newish hot pools to stretch the legs and to enjoy the lovely calm day without any of the normal Nor’easterly wind that blows down there. We even took a stroll out on the pier – what great views there were on the day right up to the Kaikoura ranges to the north and to Sumner to our right. It was then back on the road to continue down Marine Parade to The VOG Bikers. Rockinghorse Road – Not a sight for the faint hearted blimey that’s a marathon 33
