CHAIRMAN’S REPORT It was good to be able to meet again at the October Noggin – it was pleasing to see that everyone abided by the COVID-19 guidelines, in order that we were able to do so. Strange that wearing a mask can often make immediate recognition so much harder! (The Parts Shed is also operating under the guidelines – great.)
Thank you to those who made the effort to attend the Special General Meeting to elect a Branch Chairman following Ross Butler’s untimely death. I was honoured that he proposed me for this position and that I am able to carry on his good work in this regard. I propose to start shoulder-tapping during 2022, as I think it is important that we keep new and fresh people in this and other committee positions. We have been able to take part in a number of branch events over the last month (even though they have had to be somewhat altered from the “norm”) and hopefully, with a few adjustments, we can look forward to the rest of the motoring calendar. Some though, have had to be postponed until our COVID-19 levels can be lowered and our annual Swap Meet is one of these. See Colin’s report elsewhere. A big shout out (see how I have used a popular COVID-19 phrase?) to our hard- working Treasurer, Robyn Cox. This position is very much a behind the scenes one and we don’t appreciate how much the branch depends on her expertise to make sure that balances are not only put in place, but that they are done in the proper and appropriate manner. Now that cheques have become redundant, her work load has increased as she has to marry up all the deposits we make on-line into the branch account, with the entries into our events – no easy task. Thank you Robyn for your quiet, efficient work in this area. Please get vaccinated if you haven’t already done so and wear your mask. (In the future, we may have to restrict members meeting at our clubrooms to those holding a vaccination passport.) Leigh 6
