CIUTAT VELLA

MOBILITY & SUSTAINABILITY How to adapt the superilles in Poble Nou’s neighbourhood ? Which kind of infrastructure would be needed there ? And how can we implement it in a ecological an responsable way without modifying every user’s habits ? Reogranizing the actual traffic to prioritize pedestrian place in the neighbour by developing the space ith vegetalized streets surrounding a groundfloor parking lot with on top of it a large multifonctionnal public space. The idea is to propose a modular space with a 5x5m trame with which you’re able to organized the space in fonction of the use. Also the seasons could be another factor to think about different use like ice skating in the iwnter or sanatorium in the summer. To set up a parking lot on the groundfloor allow to prevent people from using their cars in this area and incite them to experience a more ecological and pedestrian way of life.
EIXAMPLE
block,
Back to Basics. Originally , Cerda’s plan provided garden in he middle of the but in the end, they chose to densify its plan by closing the block as we know it
nowadays. This is a smal overview of what the plan could have been if it was realized as it should have been. The voids were supposed to be filled with vegetation,.

With this drawing, I wanted to express the very radiant and central aspect of the «Pla-
za de las Glorias». All the phases that the place have been through, this roads tangle, rotating around this «eye» as if they were attracted to some gravity point before finding their own path.

that, according to me, explains really well how this huge
public space can be taken over by the inhabitants. We can also observe how the pavement is used to define each market zone for each one. Seeing all this umbrella we could think that more reflexion about the shadow and how to bring some to the plaza could have been a good thing.
TRANVIA
An illustration of a conceptual mobility system that could be implemented in Barcelona.
The cable car system is already present in the city and could be improved at a larger scale to make mobility easier and more pleasant. This system is already used in several places in the world such as France (mostly in the ski station but also in city like Grenoble), Venezuela (MĂŠrida, highest cable car staton in the wolrd : 4765m), New York (Roosevelt Island tramway), Madrid, Medeilin, Bogota...
