00 CURICULUM VITAE VEDANSHI SARDA I have always been interested in thinking creatively for any task I do, which led me to join the Faculty of Design as my career focus. Over my academic life, I gained a keen sense for visualizing and articulating my thoughts. Being a professional classical dancer and a spiritual person has shaped me into a disciplined, hard-working, and efficient person.

Nexus This institution offers students or groups of students a place to study, with access to a library that provides them with a huge collection of reading materials , and a low cost rental space designated for a freelancer/ practitioner to work/conduct meetings. A dedicated study environment can encourage and bring significant changes in a student’s academics. One can inspire another. It can provide an open opportunity to collaborate with people of different age groups. Such a co-working space can help a student interact with a working professional. A space that provides to connect - hence ‘Nexus’. . Skills Used : Cad 2d, Rhinocerous, Grasshopper, Lumion , Photoshop Site : Riverfront, Ahmedabad

PROCESS
NEXUS Process Description The main intent for designing was to first imagine the attributes and qualities of the interior elements in an abstract form, conceptualize it and explore it and later visualize the 2d abstraction into a space making element. The process started with diagrammatically representing the concept - “connect - coming together”. Each diagram had unique linear elements representing its characteristics. Taking forward the diagrams, they were later iterated in three dimensions in the form of physical models (3D diagrams). Overlapping the defined program overt, a diagram was selected as the driving factor of the design development. The diagram got transformed into an interior entity with introduction to a major element of bridges to connect spaces.

Fragmented Yet United As we stand on the site, we look around and watch different built structures with different language. Although they are different, we look at them as one. Hence, the concept of my design is Fragmented yet united. There is fragmentation seen in the opnenings, walls yet the symmetry of the overall design makes it as one. The althernate openings break the symmetry linearly where as the overall plan is symmetric. The walls will follow the the assymmetric grid system, different from other buidling, yet the proportions will unify them. Skills Used : Workshop, Autocad 2d, Rhinocerous, Lumion

DESIGNING
A D I S P L AY E L E M E N T Symmetric and Asymmetric in form - a difference in perspective, Nazariya is a display element that explores bamboo as a material. The circular rings represent the infinite loop of creativity. The central ring of cane highlights the focal area of displaying sheets. The elliptical and the semi-circular component constitutes the legs of element; that also acts as a shelving system for 3d display components. Junctions are a contemporary mix of traditional thread tying of the bamboo and the use of customized brass sleeves ornamented with petaled flower nuts, retaining the strength of the material with lesser punctures.

Site : A private Temple Ghat opposite to Gangaur Ghat, UDAIPUR
The Adobe House The Adobe house is located on the ghats of lake Pichola opposite to Gangaur ghat in the city of Udaipur. The home is made to welcome four millenials for stay. The project process included the site study and study of one element/ space that is prominently found in the city-Udaipur. The space chosen by me was courtyard. Studying various courtyards of Udaipur, their attributes and functionality, they were re-interpreted in the design, which therefore became the main concept of the same. Skills Used : Hand Render, Sketching, Visualization, Model making, site study and analysis, understanding context and elements
23
STUDYING COURTYARDS ON-SITE
UDAIPUR
Courtyards being the key space, I studied various courtyards of Udaipur; it’s spatial qualities, attributes, how do they respond to surrounding water bodies, which further helped me in my design development of Traveller’s Home.

DEVELOPING
CONCEPT Experience: As seen in the poster, one can see that various different elements like doors, windows, peripheries, stairs and Jharokhas opens in the courtyard. The elements facing in provides visual connectivity. Standing in the chowk, you feel the breath and opennes, just as you are standing in the chowk which is connectiong different streets where these elements face through facades. The dark, thick walls represents the contrast of dark and light which is observed we move towards the chowk. Dark and light are used as metaphors for tightness to Openess in the chowk. Materials: Lime, Wood

selves. Hence, this program is directed towards deisgning a quarrantine facility which has certain spatial experience and character and provides livable spaces to the people. It develops a sense of community and belongingness, that helps people not be scared and are surrounded by each other with the aspect of social distancing into consideration. It can also be used as a refugee shelter, shelter for the homless, for people facing any disaster.
Applying the studied ratios designing one unit.

RE-IMAGINING THE VERNACULAR
C H R O N I C L E O F N A R R AT I V E S
‘Re-imagining the Vernacular’ studio focuses more on different ways to represent a narrative and communicate to an individual. It is a chronicle of different stories that revolves around the people and their life in Gundiyali Village in which resides one of the largest Terracotta clusters of Gujarat. During the trip to Gundiyali, our ethnographic research and interaction with the community led helped us gather a lot of information about the making of teracotta products, as well as the beliefs, cultures and family affairs. These all later helped us develop narratives i.e Games, graphic novels, Narrative maps.

FAT E
The inspiration to me for this story was Saaraben and her passion towards the pottery, which she continues to do even in her 60s. Imagining a situation about all the women of Gundiyali through her eyes, I wrote a storyline. This is a Story about a girl named Mariam who belonged to a Potter’s family in Gundiyali village. She was always fond of making clay products since childhood, but after her marraige it came to a halt. Ironically an unfortunate event of her life fortunately turned it upside down when she found her way back to her passsion, to her wheel.

Venation Venation is the phenomenon of arrangement of veins in the lamina of the leaf surface. It is of three types, reticulate, parallel and furcate venation. In reticulate venation, veins form the network like structure. For example, leaves of dicot plants. Psuedo code:
1. A sphere of radii 12 units is formed.
2.
343 points at random locations are plotted on the surface.
3.
Venetaion component is attached to the output of the points.
4.
Root Indices : 16 Branch Count : 3
The output is at last connected to the multipipe with. Node Size : 0.41 Strut Size: 0.58
Voronoi In a Voronoi pattern, every point within a given region is closer to the “seed” inside that region than it is to any other point outside that region. Each point along a region’s edge is equidistant from the two nearest seeds. It’s seen in places ranging from cracked mud to giraffe skin to foamy bubbles.
1. Planar surface Polygon with radius 200 units.
2. Plotting 100 points on the surface randomly.
3. Generating Voronoi pattern with the plotted points.
4. Scaling the main polygon by 0.64. Subtracting the brep in the center.
5. Scaling the cells by 0.71
6. Subtracting scaled surface from the main surface.

The Postcard illustration is an emulation of an Indian traditional craft form Ganjifa Cards. Formerly, they were used as a story telling medium about Lord Vishnu’s incarnations in Hindu household where as play cards in Mughal households. The color palatte uses shades of primary colors and their derivatives. The color yellow depicts the main element of the narrative i.e the FD PLAZA and SPIRAL STAIRCASE which are the prime location in the FD building in CEPT,
