About the firm : Tropic Responses is an Architecture and Interior Design studio based out of Bangalore, working in Residential, Interior Design, Residential Development, Commercial, Institutional and other building sectors. They strive to practice eco-friendly design. The integration of climate data is a driving factor in the design of new buildings, as well as in the renovation of existing buildings. This results in an integrated and efficient approach to designing resilient structures. Experience : In my 6 months of training, I dealt with a larger scope of areas like producing masonry drawings, working drawings, space planning, designing interiors and finding solutions to various challenges as a part of tangible aspect. I saw a major growth in my ability to communicate, put forth opinions, brain storming ideas and work with focus. One of the major thing I learnt was seeing objects in scale, and also think about the working of it simultaneously while designing.

Site : A Residential Duplex at HSR Layout, Bengaluru Guide : Ar. Sanjay Jain, Ar. Varsha Arun My scope of work : • Designing the interiors. • Making masonry, civil, MS drawings. • Making Joineries, shutter drawings. (WD)

This residence was recieved with a frame structure and a few walls built for further development. Spaces were re-planned, later followed by designing interiors. Certain construction decisions were taken accordingly. The client said , “It should have a traditional and natural look”. Hence, Elements like Kota, Chettinad column, Teak wood and porotheum blocks have been used to emphasize the same.

Project : A Residential Home , Hennur , Bengaluru Site : 50’ x 99’ Guide : Ar. Sanjay Jain, Ar. Varsha Arun My scope of work : • Preparing presentations. • Designing the canopy of a semi open courtyard. • Design openings keeping in mind the ventilation of space and security. • Fine tuning parts of the 3d conceptual model. • Exploring Teracotta products as a part of the interiors. The project ‘Twin courtyard’ caters to a family’s residence. It has been volumetrically explored by situated two courts (inside and outside). The material palatte has been kept raw - exposed concrete, brick cladding.

(i) A Composition: The graphic is a composition of the interior elements used to give character to the design of a residential home in Bengaluru. The client said ‘Design should be traditional and raw’- hence elements like Chettinad column, Kota stone, Wooden panelling and porotheum blocks were used.
