OPEN MIC NIGHT SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6TH SHELDON KEY CLUB On Saturday, October 6th, Sheldon Key Club held their very first annual event, Open Mic Night. It was a division-wide event dedicated to help fundraise for PTP and the club, itself. It was held at Tapioca and Tea from 4:30 to 9:30. The event was opened to non-key clubbers and had plenty of club and division folks. There were plenty of performances such as singing and dancing. MY OPEN MIC NIGHT EXPERIENCE

SAMMY QUAN

Open mic night was truly something that I could never forget. From not going to it my freshman year, to going to OMN my sophomore year but not performing even once, to junior year where I stood up in front of everyone and singing. At first I was afraid to go up to sing because I was scared that I would be judged and what not, like a normal shy person. But as I got my first song over with, all that fear went away and I realized that it didn’t matter if I sounded bad because no one cares. If you didn’t perform this year because you were too scared and what not, like I was, I recommend you to at least perform once next year. You definitely won’t regret it promise. I’d also like to thank board for forcing me to do it because if I didn’t I don’t think I would have as much fun as I did. MY OPEN MIC NIGHT EXPERIENCE

VINCENT TANG

Open mic night was a great experience for members to bond and get to know each other, especially among the upperclassmen and new members, and with fall rally coming up. For me, it was great getting to perform & sing with friends while having dumb fun and getting to watch others do the same or even come outside of their comfort zone to stand up and sing with everyone in the room to support them whether or not they did well. It was a chance for everyone to relax for one night in a positive atmosphere to make memories, and while it was unfortunate that many people couldn't attend, I 10/10 reccomend going to next year's open mic night to join in on the fun with our key club family

REGIONAL TRAINI “I still hope to connect with many more people within this club, this division, this region, and beyond.. Hello! I'm Kaylin Xiong, a freshman a part of Sheldon High's Key Club. As for my experiences in Sheldon's Key Club, I was the only freshman to take part in helping out in the Kiwanis Family House, and that day will most likely become one of the most significant days in my high school career. In the first meeting of Key Club I did not feel as dedicated to the club as I do now since the only thought that had occurred in my mind was being able to get my community service hours done, but participating in a great first event and being introduced to more people that day really changed an aspect to my interest in how far I wanted to be within the club. At this point I felt excited at the chance to be able to attend RTC even if I did not know any cheers and I was one of the only freshmen that attended. By the second workshop, however, I actually started questioning myself if I wanted to be a part of the board or just continue as a member, and I think most of it was because I felt discouraged that I did not have much other freshmen friends who were in the same boat as me. Even so, as time goes on I still hope to connect with many more people within this club, this division, this region, and beyond, in the sense of no doubt as another family whilst not losing my own passion.

ING CONFERENCE “It was an amazing opportunity to meet new people from all the different divisions and made me feel like key club is just like a family Hey Everyone! My name is Christine Vo and my first time at the Region Training Conference was definitely an experience that left a great impression in my memories! Being able to meet so many new people with common interests as me made me feel much more comfortable and want to be much more outgoing. It was an amazing opportunity to meet new people from all the different divisions and made me feel like key club is just like a family. Everyone that I met was very welcoming and this made me feel like I was in a comfortable environment. The spirit chants and workshops there were so fun and exciting, it was also great being able to learn about key club! This made me want to participate and become a much more active member in the club because I realized that it is so much than just an after school activity. Key club is another home for people and also makes school a much more fun environment, it is something for students to always look forward to. I would love to go and experience RTC another time because it was an unforgettable experience and made me feel much more welcome in key club.

After four years of attending Fall Rally North, it never fails to make me feel the excitement as if it was my first time. Seeing your club mates and key clubbers from all over north California and Reno dressed in spirit wear from head to toe makes FRN feel like an entirely different world. Not only did we cheered our hearts out for PTP, but we connected with key clubbers all around us. We raised over $3000 for PTP alongside other divisions, and it was truly an amazing experience. CNH really is a small world after all! Love,

Hey hey hey monsters! I hope you all had an amazing time at Fall Rally North! Although we didn’t win the spirit stick, it’s nostalgic to think back to my freshman year and remember the bright smiles on everyone’s faces when we won the spirit stick. From that point on, my love for Key Club and service have grown IMMENSELY and fall rally has become an annual reminder for how important our service is. Every year, we cheer our hearts out for the children who can’t and to celebrate the thousands of dollars raised for PTP. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to FRN after going for the last four years, but it truly is an experience that I’ll forever hold in my heart.

FALL RALLY NORTH? Hopefully you all were able to attend, but if not there’s always next year , unless you’re a senior... Being able to attend Fall Rally North for all four years of my Key Club journey is an experience I will never regret! Planning it, is definitely something I never want to do again (thanks board for putting up with the pre-FRN me)... BUTTT I now understand why people say they the best is always the last one. Seeing you all cheer your hearts out and enjoy the trip made it all worth it and even though we didn’t win the spirit stick, I couldn’t be more proud.

Stick around for DCON, I definitely want to spend my best one with you all! Mucho loves, “Mom”

This year’s Fall Rally is honestly going to be one of the most memorable Fall Rallies I'll remember. Although we didn’t win the spirit stick, it meant so much to me to see so many underclassmen have a great and memorable time at Fall Rally this year. Just spending time with everyone at six flags like hanging out and going on rides, laughing, and chanting our hearts out will forever be an amazing memory. For sure, I'll miss coming back to chant with my division and home club. It is a memory that I will treasure forever. Overall, this year’s Fall Rally was amazing and I'll miss being able to say “there’s always next year” Sincerely,

Henry Duong

I've attended Fall Rally North about two times and I've planned to attend again next year since it's going to be my last year. My FRN experience was great since it's fun to show our spirits to others and also why we are here. I had a lot of people ask me about our organization and a lot of little kids running up to us for free hugs. It felt nice to explain to them about how much we raised for the Pediatric Trauma program for kids to basically have a small taste of how much we can accom-

plish. One of the most memorable things in FRN when I was waiting for my friend that went to the bathroom, this small child ran up to me, and literally hugged and buried her whole entire head into my tutu because it was so fluffy (also her height was literally up to my waist). Her head literally disappeared because she was so small and apparently her mom told her kids that we give free hugs and I thought that was very cute.

This is my second and last Fall Rally ;(. My LAST Fall Rally North was amazing, however! Even though we didn’t win the spirit stick, I was proud that the division pulled through. However I did shed many tears, oopsie! After the rally, I went to go lead spirit battles with many other divisions, host a really successful random K-pop dance event, and I also went to go reunite with many other CNH Bee’s!!! I

I’ve attended Fall Rally North once and will plan to attend the next three years. My favorite thing about Fall Rally North was the rally, itself. As an incoming freshman, I was very anxious and nervous when meeting new people and upperclassmen. When my friends and I signed up

for Fall Rally North, we took the risk to meet new people from different districts. I was super glad, I took the risk because I met fantastic, kind people who were all super sweet and supportive. At the rally , I was surprised how loud people cheered and I joined along with them.

Throughout the day, we saw other people from other divisions and we communicated with our cheers and gave each other hugs. Despite waiting in long lines for rides, I had fun and will attend next year’s Fall Rally North 2019!
