MONSTER’S

MONTHLY HOLIDAY EDITION

Greetings Everyone!

I hope you all are doing great and had a great time at the Thanksgiving social and throughout Thanksgiving break! Just a reminder, you have three weeks left until finals! So make sure to attend tutoring sessions and form study groups. Since the year is coming to an end, I just wanted to personally thank you all for making this year a success by constantly attending service and taking your time to bond with us, upperclassmen. I have so much love for you all and hope you guys can continue attending service as well as have fun helping out the community. A quick recap of November was the Friendsgiving Social. It was a super fun way to bond and get to REALLY know each other! I hope you guys had as much fun as I did, or even more! Anyways, as of today, I’ll be telling you guys the story of how I found out Santa wasn’t real. I hope you guys enjoy! So grab your milk and cookies and let’s settle down on my boring yet sad story. In monstrous spirit,

DISCLAIMER: IF YOU STILL BELIEVE IN SANTA DON’T READ THIS, LOL, I BET SOME OF Y’ALL STILL DO, SO YOU BETTER NOT READ IT :-) I KNOW A KID WHO BELIEVED IN IT UP UNTIL LAST YEAR SO IF YOU’RE THAT KID WHO STILL BELIEVES IT, DON’T READ On Christmas Eve, up until the second grade, I had BELIEVED in Santa Clause. It was the first time, I have ever stayed past my bedtime because it was way passed 7PM. Since my mom was working late, I had stayed home with my dad instead. While we waited for my mom, we had placed a cup of milk and a side of two cookies on the table next to the Christmas tree in preparation for Santa’s arrival. As I played with my dolls in my parent’s room, I waited and waited, staring at the clock constantly hoping it was almost midnight. When It finally hit 11:59PM, I blasted through the hallways to the living room and waited for the clock to strike midnight. When I sat on the couch, I saw no Santa and no presents. Of course, my first thought was “that’s okay, there’s millions of kids around the world I’ll just wait.” As I waited and waited’ my mom came home and told me to go to bed. Now my second thought was, “Santa probably hates me and didn’t bring me any gifts because I was being a bad kid or MAYBE it was because we had no chimney.” I thought back from the beginning of the year, QUESTIONING everything I’ve done, but nothing came to mind so I was like I’ll just go to bed. I left my door open in case I heard any noise. Around 1AM, I woke up to see lights turned on, only to see my PARENTS bringing in presents. First off, I felt betrayed and confused but then I forgave them and became happy again because I got my presents so it made up for the lie about Santa.

I volunteered for this event because I knew a little bit about breast cancer and wanted to support those who had it because it is a very agonizing process for anyone who has to go to chemo or even surgery. When it was time to set up and prepare, I was at the table passing out little wraps (I can’t recall what it was called) before participates entered. I had fun passing them out because they would all smile trying to figure out what color they wanted.

I had an amazing time at the Thanksgiving social. I was really nervous to go since I felt really uncomfortable around people I didn’t know ow never talked to, but it actually turned out to be really fun! I stated to feel more comfortable with the club members than before. I really liked how everyone was able to bond and the gamers were really interesting, especially the lap game. It was my favorite part of the social.

And seeing them all decked out and ready was nice to see that we can do all kinds of things to support one another. There were a lot of fun things to do, not only for adults, but also children. Many totes and treats were given to volunteers even though it was our pleasure to volunteer at such a nice event. And the volunteers that were there with me also made it a very fun event. Overall, it was a great experience and I will likely be back again next year.

F R I E N D S G I V I N G Key Club’s Thanksgiving social was my first ever as I am a freshman! I got to not only spend time with my friends but also spend time with other key club members. I’ll admit that I am not the best at being social or talking to people, but I think that the officers really tried to make a fun and lively environment. Specifically in the start of the social, my friends and I were in the kitchen eating area alone while everyone else was in the front, where there was more room. Henry came over

and invited back over there and I after that moment the whole night became more inviting. When the event was announced I was a bit on the fence about going since this seemed more intimate, but I think that was the best part of it. The social is definitely something I would go to again next year. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who’s looking to have a good time.

Recap of Events PURPLE STRID Members woke up early to help volunteer at the Purple Stride run. A few members had arrived but they all worked together rigorously throughout the event, packing things inside bags.

RUN TO FEED THE HUNGRY This event was held on the day of thanksgiving. Sheldon key club had members that came early to help serve food. Many of the members split up into different groups to serve different tasks. Some served granola bars while others served fruits and water to runners.
