Landscape As Exploration?
2017,Shuinan Airport, Taichung
Our land has been facing the biggest challenge of overexploitation, thanks to our burgeoning progress in construction technologies and the irresistible immigration flows from the rural to metropolises. All of this, happens in a quite anthropocentric way. Just as the place in this picture, Shuinan, a village in Taichung. It used to be an idyllic place in about 8 decades ago, before the requisition for the military airfield in WWII. And now it is turning into the largest business park in central Taiwan, which could make a big fortune for Taichung city government. Every day, millions of decisions like this are made in haste on our earth in the name of so-called development, but nobody cares whether the devastation of the land could be recovered. BUT, we landscape specialist think differently.

Settler Whose land am I on? Sketching is usually the first step. When i start sketching, I am completely free: I don't think about the project or the client, or about a form; I think about the place as if it were mine. The first sketches are very important, because they transmit not what you see, but what you feel. They are not perfect. They have mistakes, and they're not to scale. But they are very easy to read and very useful to explain your ideas and intention. Paolo Burgi This is a place could connects history, present and future in Dabu Mountain. The Dadu Terrace was originally the territory of the Pingpu tribe, “Lelien”, the king of the White Emperor. It had initiated a war with the East India Company and finally reconciled at 17century. but after 50 years Qing Dynasty conquered this land, and Pingpu Tribe started their exodus to other place. Chinese people who come from Fujian and Canton immegrated here and cultivated land below the terrance. But the Dadu Terrace was not good condition in red clay, and hardly to find water resource in the mountain( Ground water in 150m deep, started to use at 1960) ,the land could only planted with sweet potatoes and peanuts. During the Japanese occupation period 1895-1945, a large area of sugarcane fields was cultivated on the mountain by the Taiwan Sugar Company( 大日本製糖株式会社 ). After 1956 KMT party lose civil war and came to Taiwan, the largest military Qingquangang airport in Taiwan was built. Universities and industurial zone was built during 1955-1990. Dadu Mountain is constantly facing the trouble of development. Forest was ruin and Guinea grass take place and caused mountain fires every 3years. also dadu terrace was deeply harm by Taichung Power station, which is the largest power station in the world and only 8Km away. Standing in the valley of Dadu terrace, all of these feelings will come to my mind and people who live here, I’m focus on waking up people’s awareness of enviroment here and love this land.

Doublethink Encircled by the Wall Doublethink means the Power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously. And accepting both of them. <<1984>>George Orwell The Wall was a masterpiece. Originally no more than some pathetic strings of barbed wire abruptly dropped on the imaginary line of the border, its psychological and symbolic effects were infinitely more powerful than its physical appearance. <<Exodus, or the voluntary prisoners of architecture.>>Rem Koolhaas

Beijing's socialist and capitalist, which might to be self-contradictory
Most of the parks in Beijing are produced to achieve the planning technical regulations under the urban development at a tremendous speed. Mainly for the aim of beautifying city views, designers take the appearance of the parks more seriously than the exact users. Under this special developing context, most of these parks are scattered from other city facilities and residential zones. Scattered, is my keyword for the city of Beijing. Since the booming city constructions in 1990s, Beijing has been split up by the construction of ring roads. This planning model, copied from the Soviet Union, has long been believe to have the ability of alleviating traffic pressure, but causing the unreversed reality of scattered. Ring roads are the modern city walls, which segregated pedestrians and city life. What’s worse, old buildings and spaces have been tearing down, which mark the loss of the last refuges of traditional social communities. This burgeoning city devoured civic memories and exchanged them with blank parks. So, I find it essential to refill these blanks and helping us citizens to relocate ourselves both in the society and the nature. So, I picked the historical site of the Khanbaliq city wall as my scenario. The three key elements of this site are ‘walls’, ‘people’ and ‘Confession’. Now, they seem to have nothing to do with the others. But as we create a space, our lives are also put into form, and vice versa. We citizens could recontextualizing this space through our activities. So, the space is in flux, while the spatial power relation is also in flux.

In Act III, people come down from the wall, to a montage Avenue. Before the scene of the first act and the second scene was cut without a trace, all do not want to be back (go back and go out the same distance) but must go to exit. Fragment Nine on this montage of nearly 300 meters, it's like walking across the river with stone. There is not any escape route behind, but the long road is boring. However, this is also a transitional state. Involvement in continuous intertwined in the reflective line, users are looking for their favorite way of walking, or open space. Unlike previous small-scale squares, the suddenly opened montage boulevard Act III contrasts with the preceding space. Nevertheless, the end of reflection is to stop the reflection of maverick and reflection must return to practice. Fragment 10 reflexive actions of the digestion mean that another watches the movement of the line. In the repeated triangle surrounded by a large number of opposite open space. City buildings become the backdrop for these spaces. Huge lawn people have more space for self, stripping of the collective. At the same time, these huge lawns are also considered as open-air cinema, when night falls all the way to watch and participate. The movie constantly broadcast "1984", broadcast constantly broadcast: war is peace; freedom is slavery; ignorance is power. At this moment, all people finally understand that the significance of Paradise is to make people have a double mind and spiritual split so that the flesh can live a better life on this land.

At this point, to watch and participate in the movement was cut off the North Third Ring Road. If you want to enter the next act must be reflective line across the North Third Ring Road. Two things are expressed Second Act II here: First, all users are compelled to conduct introspection; and secondly, those who are at the beginning of reflection do not necessarily understand the point of participation or viewing. Therefore, in Chapter half Three, Point of view to address the problem of the first two scenes. (Reflexes have some meaning of certain people)

Act I
The first five episodes are made up of various types of small space (10m x 10m) on "Involvement". The space of different miniature space forms, will cause the user to use different attitude. A fragment of the space will arouse the association of loyalty dance, aroused once fanatical collectivism; Fragment 2 by the democratic will back to the era covered with posters, the atmosphere is heated and contrast; Fragment three in a closed tree space there is a great chance to become a framework about the place is a slight upsurge in the first act. The gazebo and newspaper wall in Fragment IV will evoke enthusiasm for a lively discussion of politics and democracy and respond to the people's democratic dictatorship. The commander's desk and sculpture space in Fragment 5 will awaken the passion for democracy and respond to a summer story. The opening act liberates the intense political repression in recent decades in the land and helps to restore the passion and fighting spirit that this land should possess. Participate in igniting enthusiasm. Fear and fear are felt in watching the movement, just like most people in those years; and in reflective movements, the commanding people examine and do nothing to guide them in the right direction.

DOUBLETHINK
Identity Crisis Finally, we insist that at no time have we presumed to have produced a designed landscape. We have confined ourselves to devising a framework capable of absorbing and endless series of further meanings, extensions, or intentions, without entailing compromises, redundancies, or contradctions. Our strategy is to confer on the simple dimension of adventure. The utilitarian coinciding with the poetic: the realization cannot but stick to the conceptual. Rem Koolhaas- La villette competition, Paris
We accommodate to this world. We feel the bitter and the sweet of life. When there is no natural in the city, we build the second nature for ourselves and we call it park. But what else could we do here apart from simply mourning of the unreversed loss nature? Only through beautifying with plantations, we cannot save the deserted land. We should look into what exact happens here, analyze them, reclassify them to make our life happens here. It is my goal to make the forgotten land to become the place of joy again in a landscape way.

A Tragic Story of Sunset industry 1939 Factories: 40 Industrial railway miles:3042KM Sugar Yield: 140M Ton/Year
Originally, Taiwan's sugar industry mainly focused on the railroad. The sugar industry was shipped from the central mountainous area to the sugar mill for processing, and then it was shipped to all over Taiwan and overseas. After 70 years of the Republic of China, road traffic is gradually popularized and the operation of highway passenger cars is carried out. As for the Republic of China in 1989, once the mileage of 3042 kilometers of sugar railway gradually shrinking to the Republic of China in 1986 only about 1486km. , sugar-run passenger and freight transport were completely replaced by road transport, even the sugar mills have also switched to trucks for raw materials and products shipped. , Railroad transport volume glides, formally draws the rest symbol in 71 years of Republic of China. Until today, the passage of the sugar railroad ceases to be a factor that affects the traffic flow in the settlements. Only the names of the remaining mines continue to be missing in the Japanese market. For each settlement, the sole function of the abandoned sugar and iron railway is tantamount to eradicate the problem of becoming a new road for steam turbine vehicles.

New Ground # 1 # 2 Park, formed with the compositional paintings, divides many types of space into which landscape art is integrated. Landscape and contemporary cities are grouped in an artistic way. Concise line guide people in the recreation and then into the central lake area.
Central Lake has created a great ecological environment, surrounded by the green corridor system has a variety of functions of the road system, allowing visitors and pedestrians and riders to choose their line. Rich routes add to the fun of the venue and create a wide variety of possibilities.
The ecological vitality of the park comes from its seasonal and natural environmental changes. The park does not change due to seasonal changes, but it is equally continuing to carry out a senseless activities and changes. On the #1 park organized a trend based on the shape and mode of reality and future, and the future development of the urban landscape.
The Great Imagination In today's metropolis is so full of chaos and disorder, and the landscape is to maintain the chaotic city bonds. So we use of system to fight disorder. Utilize the landscape system to create a city of orderliness. However, the orderly arrangement of the urban landscape is not the order of the natural state, but the non-nostalgic urban landscape and the organic landscape body. Named as # 1 # 2 # 3 Park, people break the convention of park names and make people rethink the relationship between the landscape and the city. Now with the flourishing virtual space of the Internet, each social platform is a virtual "park," and the physical park should change its spatial form with the trend of the time. Landscape parks appear in the physical world as numbers, alternating between reality and reality in a numbered way.

Endless Reflection
The autocratic spaces are produced to make subordinates feel the solemn of the leader and the atomization of themselves. But when the youth generation gathered here for revolutions in the March of 1990, the calling for liberty took rooted here and there just like blooming wild lilies all around Taiwan. Through the movement and later activities, ideology state apparatus has been recontextualized, the subject of citizen has been reconstucted. But now we have reached the turning point to go further into the material level. So, I am now changing the exact space of CKS Memorial Hall and the way people seeing it to give them more reflections of democracy.

Commemorate the Great Man
Transitional Justice
The way China and the Soviet Union commemorated the great men is quite interesting. Lenin's tomb was positioned in the middle of Red Square to show his greatness. Sun Yat-sen's tomb, the father of China's grandfather, was once placed in Nanjing, once the capital of the ROC. It is one of the largest Mausoleum in China. Taipei Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Beijing Mao Tse-tung Memorial Hall are both in the heart of the city.
In February 2017 Taiwan's Ministry of Culture announced plans to transform the hall into a national center for “facing history, recognizing agony, and respecting human rights.” A corresponding de-emphasis of the Chiang personality cult is underway as proposals for transforming the hall are reviewed.
“Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.”
The Mirror Stage
Lacan proposed that the mirror stage was part of an infant's development from 6 to 18 months, as outlined at the Fourteenth International Psychoanalytical Congress at Marienbad in 1936. By the early 1950s, Lacan's concept of the mirror stage had evolved: he no longer considered the mirror stage as a moment in the life of the infant, but as representing a permanent structure of subjectivity, or as the paradigm of "Imaginary order". This evolution in Lacan's thinking becomes clear in his later essay titled "The Subversion of the Subject and the Dialectic of Desire".

Sound of Garrulax canorus "Sight isolates, wheras sound incorporates; vision is directional, whereas sound is omniddirectional. The sense of sight implies exteriority, but sound creates an experience of interiority. I regard an object, but sound approaches me; the eye reaches, but the ear receives. Buildings do not react to our gaze, but they do return our sounds back to our ears." Juhani Pallasmaa The voice of Zhuxi is the hope that Zhuxi can be used as a carrier for living habitat. Therefore, it is the principal design purpose to make Zhuxi a living habitat. Bringing people back to the forgotten nature through biological sounds teaches the public how to watch or listen to the sounds of nature to cultivate the perception of natural sounds and the protection of nature. After the 20th century, Tainan City, a large area of Land has been developed and utilized. Large areas of native land have been converted into agricultural land and farmland, and the population has also grown substantially. Habitats belonging to animals are constantly forced to migrate to the mountains. Studies demonstrate that 75% of animals live their life somewhere alongside the waterfront, and that 60% of animals do not leave their birthplace in their lifetime. So once the natural environment is destroyed, the number of many animals and insects on the ground will drop drastically and the ecological chain will be ruined. Natural sound is gradually replaced by reinforced concrete. We gradually forget the appearance of nature. Garrulax voice is the most beautiful natural voice. It wants to live in subtropical and tropical shrubs, like wet lowland or urban parks. His food sources are insects and small fruits, which are consumed by snakes and goshawk. However, the conditions under which the three of them can be satisfied at the same time are limited at present. Their habitats are still found in several places such as Buckley Park and Zhuxi.

My work is not about trends; it is about the search for an essence and the possibility of evoking an emotion, a moment of serenity, sothat as you leave a place you will look back at it, perhaps with some unanswered questions, and with a smile. In today's design, removing elements on a site is often as important as creating a dialogue betwwen the new intervention and the site. Simplifying is necessary if you want to transmit something.
