FOREWORD
Leaders Forum 2014 Welcome to Oracle’s Leaders Forum 2014 at Terrigal on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales. Although this is the sixth year that Oracle has run this event, it is the first for me and I am very excited to have the opportunity so early in my career at Oracle, to meet with so many of our Australian and New Zealand customers. It is a great opportunity for me to hear from you about how you are deploying Oracle’s solutions but also for you to discover more about Oracle and to share both ideas and experiences with your peers. This year we are pleased to host over 100 attendees from a diverse range of organisations. We have some wonderful guest speakers from business and the community, including Benjamin Roberts-Smith VC MG and Asim Khan, Director of IT for Team USA, the America’s Cup Challenge boat. As well, we have Oracle Senior Executives and customers, such as Westpac, Santos, Westfield and Boral. The agenda is designed for you to hear how Oracle solutions can transform your operations, to be inspired, as well as to allow time for you to network with your peers in a relaxed environment. Welcome to the newcomers and to those customers who have joined us before. I am sure you will again find this year’s Leaders Forum to be rewarding, informative and inspiring.

Asim Khan Asim joined ORACLE TEAM USA in 2004. His first Americas Cup experience came during the 31st Cup in New Zealand when he was a member of the OneWorld Challenge. Prior to starting in the Americas Cup industry he spent a lot of time volunteering in the Air Training Corps and had a particular interest in outdoor education. With a degree in computer science from the University of Auckland, Asim spends most of his time managing the bespoke software and hardware of the “challenge”. “The team uses Oracle database technology to store and analyse performance data coming in live off the boats,” says Asim. “I am responsible for the development and maintenance of these hardware and software systems. I also write software related to performance analysis”. With his other role he is in charge of the team’s information systems and manages the IT Department, including the team’s human resources portal, which is basically a bespoke enterprise resource planning (ERP) tool customised specifically for the team’s needs. Asim’s career highlight was an amazing come-from-behind victory to claim the 34th America’s Cup with ORACLE Team USA in 2013. “My job is rewarding when I see a need transformed into a solution which takes us a step closer to winning the Cup,” Asim says. “It’s a challenge given the constantly changing priorities and landscape.”

Benjamin Roberts-Smith VC, MG Ben was born in Perth. He joined the Australian Regular Army in 1996. His impressive list of combat operations includes two tours of East Timor, a tour of Fiji and Iraq, and six tours of Afghanistan. Ben was on his second operational tour of Afghanistan in 2006 when he was awarded the Medal for Gallantry. It was on his fifth tour of Afghanistan that he was involved in his Victoria Cross action. During an operation to hunt for a senior Taliban commander in the Kandahar province, Ben took part in an assault against an enemy fortification, exposing his own position in order to draw fire away from members of his patrol who were pinned down. Fighting at close range, he stormed two enemy machine-gun posts and silenced them. His citation notes “his selfless actions in circumstances of great peril”. Retiring from full-time Army duties in October 2013, the Victoria Cross, together with the Medal for Gallantry, makes Ben Roberts-Smith his generation’s most decorated serving soldier in the Commonwealth. As a former commander and key planner for special operations missions, Ben has fascinating insight into the processes and protocols that are critical in producing success in competitive environments.

OVERVIEW OF PRESENTATIONS
Innovate, Automate and Transform Tim Ebbeck
SVP & Managing Director, Oracle Australia and New Zealand While IT spend accounts for just 1.5% of overall global GDP spending the impact IT can have on business value and performance is soaring. Forward thinking CEO’s are realising that for the first time ever, modern IT systems cannot only help drive customer-focused innovation but can also cut overall IT spend at the same time. In the past, this powerful combination – lower IT budgets plus higher levels of innovation – was largely a pipe dream because the core technologies always required more: more servers, more storage, more networks, more data centres, more power consumption, more administrators, and more expense. The good news is that this is where modern enterprise IT comes in. Truly modern systems can now match the modern business challenges and opportunities of today: mobile, social, cloud and Big Data. How can we take advantage of real-time visibility of customer interactions and the decisionmaking capabilities new systems give us? How do we use this information to make the customer experience more meaningful? This keynote presentation will show you the path to how to Innovate, Automate and Transform your enterprises by simplifying IT.
Managing Global Complexity Russell Burns
Business Development Manager, Thomson Reuters Managing Global Complexity: How technology is enabling leading organisations to manage their global indirect tax risk profile. This session will cover: • Setting up the status quo / business problem – What is it that people have to do, and are doing today, with regards to indirect tax, both locally and globally. • What are the issues with that – Examples and statistics on solving indirect tax within Oracle ERPs. • What do we do differently – Features, benefits and product architecture • What are the things you no longer have to do – The realities for Tax, IT and Systems Integrators • Case Studies – Case studies of Oracle based implementations from a technical/ implementation/strategic goals perspective.
Westpac Banking Corporation Implemented Oracle Engineered Systems to Speed Time to Single Source of Customer Truth Paul Spiteri
Acting Chief Information Officer, Westpac Group Paul will showcase the Westpac new Internet Banking Platform, and discuss the new Internet Banking performance requirement for customer data. Paul will then explain why Westpac chose Oracle engineered systems to deliver the customer data, and why Westpac moved away from DB2 on mainframe to Exadata for the Siebel UCM application.
18
Paul will also present how Westpac leverage the combination of Exadata, Exalogic, and Siebel UCM to achieve the performance requirements.
IS Innovation & Collaboration to Support Step-Change Organisational Transformation
How Big Data and Analytics Helped Win the 34th America’s Cup
Hugh Banister
Asim Khan
Chief Information Officer, Santos
IT Director, Oracle Team USA
Hugh Banister walks through his tenure as CIO of Santos since 2008, coinciding with the new CEO’s six year plan to transform its business model into the foreseeable future (from domestic to international markets). The challenge for his new IS organisation was, and remains, how to support this step-change organisational transformation in an industry which is so technology driven but paradoxically, does not perceive the value that IT can deliver (historically traced to IS not being considered to be ‘core business.’)
The skill and experience of some of the world’s best sailors played a large role but when Oracle Team USA staged the most dramatic comeback in the history of the America’s Cup it was the information contained within the Terabytes of data that helped change the team’s fortunes and propel the 72’ catamaran through the water to victory.
To this end, Hugh embraces purposeful Innovation and Collaboration in supporting step-change transformation, citing paradigm-shifting examples delivered by Santos IS. Applying learnings from cycling and the Santos Tour Down Under, Hugh shares his insights on building the right team with the right capabilities for the right race. Lessons around knowing when to move first or early, while conversely knowing when to be an agile follower are also discussed.
Oracle Team USA’s Asim Khan will tell us how 300 sensors and 3,000 variables helped the crew configure the boat to increase speed on a daily basis. Armed with Big Data and analytics tools, the boat was literally being re-designed after each race. As IT Director of the team Asim used Oracle Database technology to store and analyse performance data coming in live off the boats. He will describe how the chase boat was the analytical hub for real-time analytics. Sometimes this analysis required very complicated combinations of 10, 20 or 30 variables fitted through a time-based algorithm to give the team predictions on what would happen in the next few seconds or even minutes.
Hugh has challenged the IS department to follow a journey. From providing excellent service for base delivery, giving license to explore, partnering proactively with the business to ultimately becoming part of the business. This presentation focuses on the need to understand where you are trying to get to (driven by business vision and strategy), building a team to get you there and being clear about when those goals have been achieved.

OVERVIEW OF PRESENTATIONS
Disruptive Technologies Delivering Security Stuart Mort
Senior Director Information Security, JPAC, EMEA, LAD, Oracle Corporation As organisations look to Cloud infrastructure to support business operations, are they prepared and structured to address the risk associated with this shift in information management, where technology adoption is shifting to a Procurement process as opposed to an IT solution? How does security oversight align with this? Is the pen signing the contract the biggest risk, or the best protection? Are the right questions being asked, and the answers provided appropriate? Stuart will explore information security strategies and the benefits and pitfalls associated with evolving or designing those strategies. Key areas will be highlighted, which can be used to determine whether those strategies are appropriate in relation to the information shift, or whether information security is practiced as box-based solutions to siloed problems.
Digital Evolution - Structured and Unstructured Data Management and Delivery Peter Bourke
Director Information Technology, Westfield Peter Bourke will discuss the transition of Westfield’s traditional IT and core systems to the digital world and how Oracle fits in to that process.
Transforming IT from Technical Function to Business Enabler Robert Gates
Group Senior Vice President Operations, Boral Join Robert for an informative and engaging presentation on how Boral IT changed its relationship with their business units from confrontational to collaborative.

Embracing the Cloud Doug Hughes
VP Applications, Oracle Development and Product Management Cloud is no longer an emerging trend. Enterprises must view Cloud as an overarching approach that considers the value of SaaS, PaaS, Iaas, DBaaS and other ‘as-a-service’ technologies, and help determine how they can best become a part of ITs current toolbox. By harnessing cloud skilfully, cloud can make businesses more responsive, more flexible, more scalable and more competitive. The point should not be cloud itself but rather how you can embed cloud across your enterprise that helps provide you strong differentiation in the marketplace. This presentation helps you start on this journey.
The Internet of Things: Manage the Complexity, Seize the Opportunity Mark Barton
Vice President of Global ISV/OEM Sales Unit, Oracle Corporation, Asia Pacific In this connected world, the proliferation of intelligent devices has created a market for entirely new solutions based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology. With the ever-increasing amount of data that is inherent in an IoT world, the real key to gaining business value is effective communication among all elements of the architecture. But how do you maximise the value gained of connected devices? And what value should you expect? This thought provoking presentation will give you those answers and more.
