CIVIC winner

The all new tenth generation Civic has been our best selling car at launch with over two hundred forward orders. The all new car received a rapturous welcome at our dealership launch events and we would like to extend our appreciation to all who attended, over one thousand people in total. JAZZ Both cars were propelled into a deformable aluminium barrier at 40mph to replicate a headon collision, and the results were nothing short of shocking. According to Thatcham, the Rover 100 “sustained such serious damage that it would have left its driver and passengers trapped inside with life-threatening injuries.”

It’s easy to take the safety of modern cars for granted, however modern design has ensured that the majority of new cars are far safer than their predecessors. The latest product is My Honda. My Honda connects you to your Honda, giving you access to a host of security, assistance and information features. A small dongle is fitted to your car and you connect to this via an app on your smart phone. The app provides a live feed of information from your car, which you can tailor to your needs. Its primary function is to offer assistance in case of an emergency. It will automatically send an alert to a Honda trained operator if the airbags are deployed. The trained Honda operator will then call you directly, gently guiding you through the situation. If there is no response the emergency services will be called. My Honda will also launch an engine and battery check every time the engine is started so you are always up to date with your carâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s health. It can show the location of your car so you will never be unsure of where you have parked it, and by linking to security settings My Honda will notify you if the car has been moved outside of a designated zone or if it has been moved without the engine running. Trip analysis allows you to see a summary of the route you have just driven, journey time, distance travelled and average speed. My Honda can even measure and score your driving style if you so wish. My Honda comes as standard on all new 2017 Civic models, and is available for just ÂŁ255 for selected other models. We have a number of customers who are totally engaged with the app and enjoying the wealth of information it provides. Slow reTraCTing SeaT belTS

As a vehicle gets older, some customers may notice that one or more of the seat belts retract slower than it had done previously, and in severe cases, may become inhibiting when getting in and out of the vehicle or trapped when closing a door. In many cases, slow retraction is caused by dirt accumulation on the belt webbing and toggles. This can be easily rectified by cleaning the seat belt. Honda recommend cleaning seat belts with a soft brush and mild soapy water, you could also use a suitable wet wipe, although I would recommend testing on an inconspicuous area first. Particular attention should be given to cleaning the inner bar of the toggle nearest the seat occupants shoulder as this seems to collect dirt the most. Seat belts should be left to air dry, after cleaning, preferably plugged in to expose as much of the belt as possible. Wipe over with a clean dry cloth once the webbing is dry. Information on seat belt cleaning can also be found in your vehicle ownerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s manual.

honda’s ‘elecTric Vision’ Two Thirds oF european sales To FeaTure elecTriFied powerTrains by 2025 Honda Motor Europe’s President and COO, Katsushi Inoue, has revealed key details of the brand’s new ‘Electric Vision’. Speaking at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Honda’s commitment to an electric future in Europe was outlined, with a specific aim to have electrified powertrains in two thirds of European cars sold by 2025. The announcement confirms that Europe is at the forefront of Honda’s global electric vehicle strategy.

Honda’s focus on electrification in Europe will initially be driven by a roll-out of hybrid technology across its automobile range. The first new hybrid model, which will feature Honda’s two-motor hybrid system, will go on sale in 2018.

Honda’s Clarity Fuel Cell model follows the arrival of the first cars in Europe at the end of last year. The Clarity Fuel Cell is the world’s most advanced fuel cell vehicle and delivers a class-leading maximum range of 700 km (434 miles)

Honda will also make plug-in hybrid, battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles commercially available to European customers.

It would pick up and drop off customers at local destinations, and could also sell energy back to the electric grid during times of high demand

The stunning NSX just gets better The 3.5-litre petrol-electric V6 hybrid "powertrain" has won the ‘Best New Engine’ title at the 2017 International Engine of the Year Awards. Engines were judged on their performance, noise, driveability, fuel economy and smoothness. The NSX was named as the winner of the ‘Best New Engine’ accolade.

World’s bestseller – electric Version by 2018 The much loved and renowned Honda Cub introduced in 1958, is the world’s bestselling bike with over 87 million units sold. It looks set to go electric as early as next year. The concept was shown nearly two years ago and it has now been confirmed that Honda plans to launch a battery powered scooter next year as part of a companywide move towards electric vehicles. Honda is currently working on a convenient system for electric commuters, which feature a detachable mobile battery for ease of charging. We’ll keep you updated on any developments. Who knows in a few years’ time we could find ourselves with a range of electric bikes. Honda has already collaborated with Mugen in the TT electric class and previewed the Neowing Trike which used a 4 cylinder combustion engine working alongside an electric motor. Watch this space.

Honda confirmed as europe’s fastest groWing mainstream brand Honda has been confirmed as the fastest growing mainstream car brand in Europe for 2016. The latest data from European industry body ACEA shows that total sales for Honda in EU and EFTA countries in 2016 were 159,126 units to the end of December, an increase of 20.8% per cent compared to same period in 2015. Honda’s growth significantly outpaced the results for the EU passenger car market as a whole, which saw a yearon-year increase of 6.8% per cent. The strong 2016 performance was driven by demand across Honda’s model range, with HR-V, Jazz and Civic all seeing year-on-year growth. HR-V made a strong contribution to the overall total in Europe, with sales of 34,921 units. The Jazz supermini saw sales growth of 26.0 per cent last year, following the launch of the allnew model, with total registrations of 39,613 across EU and EFTA markets. Civic Type R led the Civic range to increased sales of 47,300 units in 2016, up 4.9 per cent on the previous year. Honda saw sales growth in all five of the main car markets in Europe in 2016 (UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain) With the all new 2017 Civic joining the range this year sales look set to increase still further.

Vertu Honda Lincoln also had their top performing Sales Executive Richard Clark collecting an award at the ceremony and Vertu Honda Newcastle had their own Neil Riddell collecting the award for Company Person of the Year. Tobi has had an outstanding year at Boston Honda. Having joined the company in 2001 he is superbly passionate about his dealership and Vertu Honda as a whole. The dealership has had an outstanding year performance wise and is continually in the top 8 dealers of the entire UK on the dealer balanced scorecard. This is largely driven by great sales process and a consistent performance on both new and used cars. Tobi has given massive support to our General Manager Matt Hodgkinson and shown tremendous leadership and commitment. Rhian Poole and Katie Pope won the corresponding award for the best performing Service Advisors. Customers are always first with

excellent communication with the dealership to ensure a smooth process at all times. Very much a team effort and very much in keeping with the team culture that is evident to see at the Boston dealership.

Lincoln’s longest serving Sales Executive, now in his fifteenth year, Richard is no stranger to this Awards Ceremony, having previously won an award. He is passionate about the Honda values, with customer satisfaction at the heart of his daily working routine.

The dinner is a chance for Robert Forrester, CEO of Vertu Motors, to recognise and reward talented individuals from across the Group’s more than 120 dealerships.

New general manager Mark Dickinson and service manager Steve Penn, who both have extensive experience within the motor retail industry. Mark has held key managerial roles at a number of franchise dealerships over a career spanning more than 20 years. Having spent the previous five years specialising in Honda vehicles, Mark is looking forward to his new role, saying: “I’m very pleased to be starting my new position at Vertu Honda Mansfield. Vertu Honda Bikes nottingHaM lend a Helping Hand Jamie, Stuart and Leigh Burton, at our Nottingham bikes dealership, have helped a local man raise over £10,000 for Cancer Research UK. Dan Mills had the challenge of purchasing a bike for less than £300 and riding from Lands’ end to John O'Groats. This is 916 miles, which Dan completed in 24 hours.

The bike, a 2001 Honda CBX 750 FE, was 100% reliable, something you would expect from a Honda. However, for a bike of such low value the expertise of Leigh Burton in preparing the bike ensured a smooth run for Dan, with no mechanical issues. Thanks to Leigh for spending his own time preparing the bike and Jamie and Stuart for their support.

Vertu Honda MorpetH giVes its support to local olyMpic Hopeful Our dealership on Coopies Lane, Morpeth has given its support to an aspiring athlete Amy Brown, a skeet shooter, who has the Olympics in her sights. Amy has already been selected to represent England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and hopes to go on to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The sponsorship will allow Amy to focus on working with trainer Ian MacGregor, who has previously coached medal-winning Olympic and Commonwealth teams.
