The Chevrolet Corvette has been around for decades now and one thing that each literation of the car has had in common is a front mounted engine. In the automotive world, you can have front, mid, and rear engines and there are fantastic sports cars in each of those categories. Think Porsche 911 for rear-engine, Corvette (and a plethora of others) for front engine, and mostly exotics like Ferrari and a few others for mid-engine. The benefits of a mid-engine layout is that the car can be more balanced and better balance leads to better handling and overall performance.

CORVETTE
We already know all there is to know about the new Stingray with its front engine and blistering performance, and it's a great car. What is Chevy to do next to improve the Corvette? If rumors hold true the next generation Vette, the C8, will be a mid-engine monster.
The rumor is that the 2017 C8 will see the top end model, the ZR1, get a new midengine architecture. The car will reportedly be a very low volume unit at only 1500 per year and it will be very expensive. How expensive you ask- how about $150,000. Some very serious sports cars can be had in that price range.
The C8 is expected to continue with a smallblock V8 similar to what Chevy uses under the hood of the Corvette now, but with better performance than the current Stingray Z51. That Z51 is able to hit 60mph in 3.9 seconds and reach181 mph. Moving the engine to mid-ship also may one day lead to an allwheel-drive Corvette with an electric motor driving the front wheels. The C8 is also expected to get a dual-clutch paddle shift transmission. This all sounds good, but the real question is will the automotive world greet a $150,000 sports carfrom Chevy with open arms?

Did you know? 5 Bad Habits You Should Never Do With a Manual Here are five bad habits you may all fall into while driving a manual transmission vehicle. Behind the scenes there are a lot of things happening while you are operating a manual that you may not be thinking about if you don't fully understand how they work.
5 Bad Habits You Should Never Do With A Manuel
Manual Gearbox Here are five bad habits you may all fall into while driving a manual transmission vehicle. Behind the scene there are a lot of things happening while you are operating a manual that you may not be thinking about if you don't fully understand how they work. So we are going to get into those bad habits and try to explain why exactly you don't want to do them! 1. Don't use the gear leaver as a hand-rest You have to understand what's happening within the transmission. Using your gearshift as a hand-rest can cause premature wear of the trans-axle shift forks. What's happening is you are having a static component (gear forks) pressing against a rotating component. 2. Do not hold your car in gear while on a stop light! Leaving your car into neutral when coming to a stop light will save you a lot of trouble. If the car is in gear with clutch pressed, premature wear of the throw bearing which is going to be pressing against the diaphragm spring will occur. 12
v ettegirlscc.net
3. Never use your clutch to hold yourself on a hill.
Reason- you will be burning the friction material (ferodo) on the clutch disk. The clutch disk is relatively expensive and hard to replace depending on the model of the vehicle. 4. If you are in high gear and low RPM don’t apply much throttle. The engine has a huge gear disadvantage so flooring it will lug it. Lugging and engine is like hammering the engine parts with every single explosion in a cylinder. It 5. Don’t rest your foot on the clutch when you are driving on the highway! Resting your foot on the clutch pedal means you clutch is not fully engage, so there can be a little slim. That means you are not pulling down full power which will lead to higher fuel consumption. You are wearing down your clutch and again you are also wearing your throw bearing.

Female racing driver signs up as Top Gear presenter Ms Schmitz, 46 (pictured with Chris Evans), was the first woman to win Germany’s famous Nürburgring 24-hour race and drives for BMW and Porsche. The BBC has been criticised for not taking her seriously. Well-known among UK car enthusiasts for her guest appearances onTop Gear's previous incarnation, Schmitz grew up in her parents' hotel local to the famous Nürburgring race circuit in Germany. Schmitz became an expert on the track, which led to her working as a driver fo r the "Ring Taxi", a company which offers passenger rides to paying customers on the track. Her Top Gear stints led to a regular slot presenting motoring show D Motor on the German TV channel DMAX, and in 2008, Schmitz competed in the Nürburgring 24-hour race, finishing third. The new line-up reflects that aim, and Evans has also made good on the BBC's desire to include a female presenter in the line-up, though was keen to stress that Schmitz has been chosen "not for the sake of it", but
because of her credentials as a racer and car enthusiast. Corvette C7.R
IMSA has announced its Balance of Performance adjustments for the 2016 12 Hours of Sebring next month, with Corvette Racing’s Corvette C7.R receiving an additional 10 kilograms of weight and a 0.4mm smaller air restrictor, according to Sportscar365. The BoP adjustments come as no surprise after the No. 4 C7.R of Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fassler and No. 3 C7.R of Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Mike Rockenfeller took a dominant 1-2 finish at Daytona last month. The No.3 C7.R also set the fastest lap of the race at 1:44.012, while the No. 4 car was second with a lap of 1:44.563. IMSA also made other BoP adjustments in the GTLM class, with the Ford GT receiving an additional 10 kg of weight and the Porsche 911 losing 10 kg. The Ford also got a maximum boost decrease, while the BMW M6 GTLM was permitted for a boost increase. In the prototype category, it’s good news for Chevy’s Daytona Prototype, with IMSA giving it a 10 kg weight reduction and a 0.3mm larger air restrictor. The Daytona-winning Ligier JS P2 Honda, meanwhile, received a boost decrease

Me and My 1995
Teddi Florence I always knew that I wanted a corvette one day. The opportunity came to me in 2009. A dear friend of mine had two corvettes. He needed some money so he wanted to Sell one. I had a choice of a 1979 Stingray or a 1995 corvette LT1. As I Looked at that beautiful baby blue stingray With white seats, T-top, sparkling chrome Rims and the best part, it was a sick shift. My first car was a stick shift so I knew That I would look really cool driving it.
28
www.vettegirlscc.net
I thought hmmm! But when I took a look At the highly polished black 1995 with 17 inch tires in the front and 18 inch Tires in the back with chrome rime to Boot. I felled in love. I knew that was the Corvette for me. I purchased the corvette and the rest is history. When I first drove The corvette with the top off it was the Best feeling. To feel the wind blowing and the jazz music playing it was such a Relaxing feeling. I still have my 1995 Corvette and I am looking forward To this summer so I can relax in my 1995 corvette. Corvette lovers roar into Atlantic City for Convention Center event
June Bartlett
We arrived early for our bus trip to the "Atlantic City Convention Center" with the Corvette Society Corvette Club of Long Island, NY. It was so early we thought we had the wrong location. Finally the bus arrived and people began filtering in. It was exciting to take a bus ride out of New York after many years with my hubby by my side. Our lady driver was quite confident and road worthy behind the wheel. She got us to the Atlantic City bus terminal safely in record time. After standing on line for our casino cards we walked about three blocks down to the convention center. When we arrived the place was full of vendors, display cars, cars to be auctioned and eager enthusiasts with money to spend. This event was promoted by quite a few New York car clubs so we greeted many friends and enthusiast as we walked from aisle to aisle. Rows and rows of colorful cars captured our eyes. Although many who have been to the event in the past say the quality of some of the cars was not as good as prior years. There were much fewer auto related vendors and many vendors were selling household, baked goods, books and jewelry. This year there were also no lobby vendors. Car buffs say the auctioneers have taken up much of the previous years vendor space leaving less for car guys and gals to see.
32
www.vettegirlscc.net
They auctioned off a vintage Mustang for $55,000, Camaro's, Cadillacs and even a '87 Vette for $3,500. Seeing an auction for the first time was exciting and much like you see on TV, very fast talking ! After watching the auction which was somewhat reserved for auction participants only, we headed out to fuel up on some food. "Kelsey's" soul food located near the beach provided great afternoon ambiance, professional staff and food definitely to come back for ! The catfish, wings and yams were to DIE for! We headed back to the casino with the help from a very friendly cab driver. We traded stories about the changes in New York especially Harlem and a tip where to eat on our next trip. (Kelsey's !) Now to the gambling. After taking about 15 minutes to figure out how to use the cards we each gamble and lost our trip contribution of $15.00. However, I won a whopping $27.25 which I happily pocketed. Loading the bus was quick and much needed after a long day at the convention center. Corvette Society provided an array of goodies any kid would love, cookies, juice, chips, candy bars and water. Our driver didn't disappoint again as she got us back in record time. All in all a very nice trip over the bridge.

7 Reasons Why Chrome Wheels Are Better Than Black By Detroit Steel By Detroit Steel It appears that the debate between black or chrome essentially comes down to what age you are for a lot of Corvette owners. That is if you buy into some of the comments about the matter here at Corvette Forum. 1. Chrome wheels are more true to the traditional appeal of the Corvette. 2. There are more chrome wheels to choose from now for a “unique” look. 3. Everyone else is doing black wheels. 4. Unless the Corvette is all black, black wheels can distract from the car’s overall design. 5. Subtlety has its perks. 6. Black wheels don’t convey any of the luxury appeal of the Corvette. 7. Chrome wheels have more staying power. Hey, just my opinion. But what’s your take on the great debate? Send your thoughts in to vettegirlscc@gmail.com.

7 Reasons to Get a Z06 Over a Z51
42
www.vettegirlscc.net
Without a doubt, a Z51 equipped Corvette is a lot of car. It’s capable of tearing up the track while still being a good car for some weekend cruising. And compared to The Z06, the Z51. The Z06 kicks some serious butt, and everyone knows it. So here’s seven reasons to get the Z06 instead. 1. The Z51 has 190 less horsepower, or roughly what you’d find in a mid-size sedan. 2. The Z06 comes standard with a lot of things you’d need to option up on the Z51. 3. The Z06 has options you simply can’t get on the Z51, such as carbon ceramic brakes and 3 stages of aero tuning. 4. The Z06 can be personalized with a dash plaque bearing your name. 5. You can build the Z06’s engine at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant. 6. Despite the hard-core performance intentions, you don’t lose out on comfort, safety, and convenience featureswith the Z06. 7. You’d have the highest performing model in Chevrolet’s line-up, not a well-optioned lower model. As you can see, it’s not all just down to performance. The Z06 is capable of everything the Z51 can do, and then some. I certainly feel that it justifies the higher cost. Now it’s time to figure out how to buy one By Patrick Morgan

20 Ways to Instantly Improve Your Life By Susy Sedano Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” That, of course, is not an invitation to skip school and steal your father’s car, but taking stock of your life does give you the opportunity to make small adjustments that could improve the quality of daily life. Watching what you eat or dragging yourself to the gym can feel like drudgery.
1. Start Paying Attention to Yourself “Pay attention to how you feel. Notice how your body reacts when you eat certain foods. Observe how you feel when you exercise, after you exercise and all the times in between,
2. Work Out With People “Exercise with your very best friend,” says LIVESTRONG.COM Community member steffik1. “Every day I walk with my best friend for 60 to 90 minutes
3. Find Simple Ways to Reduce Your Sugar Intake “I do drink a lot of water but have always had diet soda as a part of my everyday life -- usually two Coke Zeros a day,” admits LIVESTRONG.COM Community member remylee34. “Last year I decided that this was not the best thing for me and worked on cutting soda from my daily routine. I discovered sparkling water, which gives me the ‘fizz’ that I love without all of the additives!” Examine your daily routines and figure out where you can cut down on your sugar intake. For instance, says remylee34, “I also stopped using flavored coffee creamers with 35 calories per tablespoon and a ton of sugar.
4. Make Every Minute Count “One of the biggest myths about fitness is that you need to spend hours at the gym. Short, intense workouts that are 15 minutes or less can be highly effective at stimulating muscle, increasing your metabolism and building strength,”
5. Start a Positive Addiction “What I do is find an exercise that I like doing well enough to develop an addiction to it. Positive addictions are the friend of the fitness-conscious person,
6. Drink More Water “Every time you see a water fountain, take 10 big gulps. Most people are at least somewhat dehydrated, so this is a reminder to increase your water intake. Drinking 10 gulps is like getting eight to 10 ounces of water,” says Martin Rooney
7. Document Your Progress
50
www.vettegirlscc.net
“My best advice is to take responsibility for what goes in your mouth: Document and log your nutrition and your calorie intake using the well-thought-out food tracker on LIVESTRONG. The scale is a very helpful tool. Weigh yourself every day first thing in the morning after taking care of business (relieving yourself),” 49
8. Start Your Healthy-Eating Plan on Sunday “Prep your meals at the beginning of the week,” advises Dr. Kara Mohr, expert on weight loss and behavior change and cofounder of Mohr Results. “I take two hours on Sunday to plan my meals for the week, grocery shop, cut veggies, hard-boil eggs and put together salad starters -- salad without lean protein or dressing. That way you always have healthy food at hand, and the time it saves each day is invaluable.”
9. Define Your Own Success “People need to know that success is defined and achieved differently for everyone,” says LIVESTRONG.COM Community member cfinoz60. “Their bodies and metabolisms or sensitivities to foods are different. Their health risks are different. Their goals are different. Their attitudes are different.” While defining and even recording your goals are keys to success,
10. Respect What Your Body Loves “Follow your own preference about when you eat your smallest and largest meals. Some folks like big breakfasts; some prefer big dinners. Either works fine. Don’t worry about what X or Y study says. Your personal preference should dictate the choice,”
11. Make Yourself Accountable When it comes to making healthier choices, ensuring accountability is a worthwhile investment. “I needed a trainer to keep me going to the gym,
12. Organize Your Time in 30-Minute Intervals “To manage tasks at home or at the office, you can get a lot more done if you work in 30-minute intervals,” says Jim Smith. “Use a simple timer on your phone or computer to track the time you spend on a particular task.
13. Start Small and Build “Motivation follows action, so make your first step easy. But follow that step immediately with another, bigger step,” recommends Valerie Waters, celebrity fitness trainer and inventor of the Valslide. “The idea is to get the proverbial snowball rolling downhill so you can pick up momentum toward your goals.
14. Begin the Day Right “I have found the earlier I get moving, the more I can accomplish in a day,” says LIVESTRONG.COM Community member liseage. There are a number of ways to set a positive tone for the day,
15. Perform a Daily Positive Conditioning Ritual “Start each day with something positive -- read something that inspires you, listen to uplifting music or download a fitness podcast,” 47
16. Take Responsibility for Your Health “Take responsibility for your health. This includes your knowledge about nutrition and fitness, y
17. Enjoy Your Food When you savor your food, you’re less likely to unconsciously overeat, so try eating in a distraction-free area, without the television, newspaper, computer or phone. “By simply cutting out the extra noise that often accompanies eating,
18. Make Fitness a Journey “Too many people torture themselves with unnecessarily restrictive diets and unrealistic workout routines.
19. Start Juicing “Get a juicer. Just do it. You’ll be amazed at how many delicious and nutritionally potent cocktails you can make,
20. Be Grateful “Sometimes we need to stop and think and soak in what a beautiful world we have. Even if you’re stuck in some ordinary place, it is still unique, ama 50

Sylish mean Corvette
54
www.vettegirlscc.net
Growing up in St. Louis, I very rarely saw a Corvette. But when I did, the sight was astounding. The drivers were usually older white males. About fifteen years later, I was stationed in San Diego when I pulled between a Corvette and another type of sports car at a traffic light. The Corvette alone, commanded my attention. And, to add a female driver to the mix, it was a stunning sight. Many years later, I was ready to purchase a twoseater. One seat for me and one seat for my purse. I had narrowed my choices down to a Corvette or a Viper. The decision was easy for me. So today, I am in the ranks of the proud, the few female Corvette owners. So guys, when you see a woman driving a Vette, don’t say “I see your husband let you drive his Vette.” Instead, I just smile and watch their facial expression when I respond “It belongs to me”. This alone is priceless. My vanity license plates (NVRNVME) which means ‘NEVER ENVY ME’, reflects how I feel. I am the master of this powerful, sporty and stylish mean machine and I LOVE IT! Linda J. Tech Tips Technical Advice from Mid-America Motorworks No matter how well we store our faithful driving companions for the winter, it always pays to check a few crucial areas before embarking on that first spring cruise. These are the favorite winter hibernation haunts of the 'gremlins' that we have come to know over the past 25 years of Corvette enjoyment. Electrical Batteries and electrical connections are a constant target for corrosion. Any build-up will reduce the amount of current flow and cause poor starting or battery drain. Inspect and clean battery terminals, connections to the starter and at the alternator. Humidity will cause corrosion and this must be wire-brushed or removed with steel wool or sandpaper. A light spray with Corrosion Block or an application of Silicone Grease to the connections will help prevent further problems. Hidden corrosion often occurs on the inner contacts of distributor caps, on points, and on spark plugs. This results in reduced performance, engine miss, and slow starts. These can be cleaned, but it is best to replace, re-gap, and adjust for optimum performance. Now is a good time to inspect the spark plug wires for cracks, burned spots, or contact with hot exhaust components. If one wire exhibits cracks or aging, it is a good bet that the balance will have internal problems that can sap performance. We recommend replacement with the proper length wires that allow for

correct routing away from hot manifolds or headers. We endorse the use of Fuel Fresh for any gasoline that is stored. Since our use of this additive, we have not had any fuel system problems when putting a stored vehicle back into service. It is a good idea to use up the stored fuel as soon as possible and to re-fill the tank with fresh gas. We generally add a bottle of Redline Injector/Carburetor Cleaner to the fresh fuel to clean out any deposits in the tank and fuel system. Be sure to check lines and clamps for leaks. The rubber lines are susceptible to aging and cracks. This is a good time to replace the fuel filter. We have often found these full of condensation
as well as dirt and debris. Moisture accumulates in the brake systems of stored vehicles, unless th contain Silicone Brake Fluid. Standard brake fluid will draw moisture, causing corrosion in the system. When the car is in use, heat generated by braking will drive out this moisture. In order to prevent serious and costly damage to the brake system, we recommend draining and replacing th brake fluid at least every two years. This routine will greatly extend the life of the master cylinder lines, and calipers. A few hours of prep time now will send those 'winter gremlins' packing and all you more trouble-free cruising on the days ahead.

By RON KANTOWSKI LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL It was Feb. 28 and there they were, two up-and-coming Top Fuel drag racing drivers, lined up side by side at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix. Leah Pritchett vs. Brittany Force. Fast woman vs. … another fast woman. And though the NHRA is among the most progressive of the pro sports when it comes to women and minorities competing on level playing fields — a couple of years ago there even was a driver named Khalid alBalooshi who drove for a successful Top Fuel team funded by Arab sheikhs — it suddenly dawned on old-timers that it had been some time since two women had squared off in a final elimination. It had been 34 years, in fact. The last time it happened, Shirley Muldowney defeated Lucille Lee in Columbus, Ohio, in 1982. Neither Leah Pritchett nor Brittany Force was thinking about rewriting history when they tucked their, long blond hair into racing helmets.

It all began back in February, when Leah Pritchett made history at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona. Pritchett took her first NHRA Top Fuel career win by after defeating Brittany Force in the first allfemale Top Fuel final since 1982. But Brittany Force only had to wait three more weeks to pick off her first career victory in the Top Fuel final at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida.

NEW YORK AUTO SHOW If you’re a car enthusiast, and you also happen to love all things automotive, auto shows are totally overwhelming. There’s a lot to see, little time to do it in, and mingle with folks who do not happen to love all things automotive. Nobody gives less of a damn about stepping in front of your perfectly lined up angle on the new Corvette Z06, than a grown up with a selfie stick. So, what’s an enthusiast to do in such a situation? Giving up isn’t an option, you’ve got to make the most of the experience, maybe even enjoy it. And try to, get some quiet time with the vehicles before the crowd hover over you again, but that’d mean being patient as possible (a task to be sure), and work around it by trying not to be where everyone else is. Instead of fighting for the same shots as everyone else, I made an effort to mix things up, and try to capture more subtle details around the show. Whether I succeeded or not is not for me to decide,. I can say that my favorite vehicle at the show, of course you know “the Corvette” I will say that there were two corvettes there, so I particularly taken with them and disappointed at the same time because they only had two there. A Stingray and a Z06. Enjoy the photos of New York Auto Show.
