Dealing with a smaller community bank can often bring big benefits. When customers need a question answered or have a request, they can just call the local branch and speak with an actual person who can help. There’s no need to call an 800 number and speak with someone halfway around the world. “Dealing with a community bank and establishing relationships gives our customers peace of mind,” says Claudia DeLaCruz, the branch manager of BCB Bank’s Fairfield location. “They have direct access to us.”

This local institution also offers a wide variety of services. “We provide all the services that any commercial small bank would provide—checking accounts, savings accounts, Christmas clubs, vacation clubs and more,” she says. “For business owners, we provide cash management services, so they have the ability to do ACH wire transfers, allow access to people who are not authorized signers on those accounts, remove access when warranted, as well as Bill Pay, which is available for personal accounts as well.” Claudia also says their customers save money by banking with BCB. “We’re not charging them maintenance fees. Our checking accounts are free. Our business accounts are free. We focus on relationships, not fees.”

With interest rates on the rise, she says it’s a good time to invest in Certificates of Deposit (CDs). “BCB is very well known for its CD rates. We’ve also been offering a fixed-rate 24-month unsecured line of credit for business owners, and it’s easy to qualify.”

BCB Bank has 28 locations all over New Jersey, Staten Island and Long Island, so customers have the convenience of finding one close to their homes and/or businesses.
