Our House Foundation’s 24th Annual ‘Our House, Our Run’
Support Our House Foundation by running or walking at their 24th Annual Spring event. The event will kick off with a 2-Mile walk followed by a USATF-NJ PMAG 700pt All Division Championship 4-Mile race! Stay and cheer on the residents in the Everyone’s A Winner Race at 10:45am! Once again, the event will continue with the tradition of offering a virtual option to friends near and far. All of the proceeds will support the programs and services provided to adults with disabilities served by Our House.
Cathy Colford, Vice President of Development for the Our House Foundation states, “Our annual community event and fundraising efforts are critical for supporting the adults with disabilities served by Our House and we are most appreciative for the community’s ongoing support. We encourage people to join us in person or virtually.”
Founded in 1980, Our House, Inc. is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides residential, employment, day program and recreational services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Their first home opened in 1980 in Summit and they have steadily grown to 27 locations throughout Essex, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Union Counties.

86th Annual Maplewood Garden Club Plant Sale
This Spring the Maplewood Garden Club will hold its 86th Annual Plant Sale at the Maplewood Community Pool on May 11, 12 & 13. Known around the state as the best plant sale of the year. MGC members have already been hard at work for months planting, propagating, potting-up, ordering, planning and organizing for the plant sale.
The annual plant sale is the only fundraiser held by MGC each year and it is intended to offer exceptional plant material, often unusual or rare and below market prices to the gardening community. The funds raised enable us to generate the resources that support the ongoing projects and activities donated to the Township, some of which include: Scholarships to Columbia High School Seniors, Rutgers University Students, and Township employees for continuing education programs at Rutgers University; the Dickens Village Conservatory; the Durand-Hedden herb garden; the Hilton Rain Garden; Maplewood Library book donations; Maplewood Township greenhouses; the Memorial Garden behind Town Hall; holiday decorations at the railroad station and on various municipal buildings; and numerous gardens around town.
Thursday & Friday, May 11-12, 8am-8pm;
Saturday, May 13, 8am–4pm

The Paul Jacobs Organ Concert
Christ Church in Short Hills welcomes Grammy-award winning organist Paul Jacobs for a solo recital concert. The special, one-day only concert will feature a selection of works, including J.S. Bach, and showcasing the church’s historic Aeolian-Skinner Opus 1347 pipe organ, which is the largest of its kind in New Jersey. The signature performance at Christ Church in Short Hills commemorates the church’s 140th Anniversary.
Paul Jacobs has been heralded as “one of the major musicians of our time,” by Alex Rose of The New Yorker and as “America’s Leading Organ Performer” by The Economist.
