THE STRENGTH OF THE WEAKER VESSEL

BY COLLETE CONNER

“In the same way, you husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way (with great gentleness and tact, and with an intelligent regard for the marriage relationship), as with someone physically weaker, since she is a woman Show her honor and respect as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered or ineffective ”

1 Peter 3:7 (AMP)

I referenced this scripture because I can’t tell you how many times I have heard it used in a way that may leave women feeling inadequate to fully stand in our God given power It doesn’t mean women are weak or feeble, and neither does it mean women should be co-dependent

It simply means a woman ’ s built is physically weaker than that of a man Therefore, she should be treated as such with grace It doesn’t mean women are less than, but that we should be treasured and handled with gentleness.

“She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her ” (Proverbs 3:15)

Now that we have cleared up any confusion about the woman being the weaker vessel, let’s talk about the strength of a woman

There are many examples of strong women in the bible from Esther, Deborah, Ruth, Hannah, Mary Magdalene, Mary (Mother of Jesus), Miriam, Sarah, Priscilla and several others

When I look back over my life and the obstacles I overcame, I could add my name to the list of countless strong women and you probably could do the same. There are so many women whose life story would leave us wondering, “How are they still standing?” Let’s take a closer look at the strength of a woman

Women have the strength to carry life Mary, the mother of Jesus carried the Savor of the whole world No wonder it is said all women carry influence Jesus is still influencing the earth Mary was carrying influence!!Glory!! That part

It takes a strong person to birth out another human being It takes a strong woman to nurture all those around her when she herself needs attention It takes a strong woman to believe past her circumstances, what she sees in the natural and stand on what she knows in the spirit

It takes a strong women to rise above her past let downs, disappointments and failures It takes a strong woman to truly believe God is who he says he is. It takes a strong women to tap into the God which is within her.

It takes the strength of a woman to submit to the will of God with all he has equipped her with It takes a strong woman to lean, trust and depend on God

“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.” (Psalm 46:58)

God has commanded us to be strong and have courage as we walk this journey called life God tells us to never be afraid or distressed over the issues of life He promises he will never leave us nor forsake us. As women, this is our hope, this is our resolve.

It is the God centered spirit in us which gives us the strength to be the cook, the nurse, the teacher, the coach, the counselor, the taxi driver, the scheduler, the organizer, ministry leader, the employee, the business owner, the sister, the friend, the daughter and the wife

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

The strength of a woman is God in the midst of her.
