In 2019 we celebrated our 10th VidCon, and we left it behind thinking, “Wow, that was great! We will of course be right back here again in one year!”

Ugh.

I’ve always been skeptical of the phrase “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” if only because I am very easy to distract. But let me tell you, these last few years with VidCon absent from my life, my heart has grown fonder. I have missed this so much. I have missed seeing friends, learning from colleagues, meeting fans, and seeing the world of online video come alive with my real human eyes.

I am excited about this 11th VidCon for a lot of reasons, but a big one is just how much things have changed in the last few years. In 2019, I’ll admit it, people were kinda laughing about TikTok. Maybe I was even one of those people. Boy has my mind changed. TikTok is now one of the dominant platforms of online video and the title sponsor of VidCon. It’s one of the primary ways I create content and connect with people. But more than that, what excites me is how much creativity and talent creators have poured into our world through that platform.

And that is certainly not the only way things have changed!

Look, there are a lot of ways in which the last couple of years have been hard and not having VidCon isn’t really at the top of the list. But this is a thing that I love and I have truly missed it so much. If you want any advice from me, a person who has been to a few of these things, here’s what I’m going to use these days doing.

First, I am going to try and connect with people who are into the same kinds of things as me because I sure do love that. Second, I am going to try and understand the people I am a fan of in deeper, richer ways. I want to understand why and how they make stuff, and how they imagine what they do. And third, and most importantly, I’m going to wear comfortable shoes the whole time and always, always I will stay hydrated and make sure I have a granola bar in my pocket.

Thank you to everyone at VidCon and Paramount who have kept this event on the rails over the last two years, I know it has been immensely frustrating. Thank you to all of VidCon’s sponsors for your tremendous support. Thank you to all of the creators who are coming out, and thank you, especially, to the communities that support those creators. None of this is anything without you.

AWESOMENESS MEET AND GREET HALL

Most meet & greets have been assigned ahead of time through Meet & Greet Matchmaking, which took place between April and May. The only way you are guaranteed entry to the scheduled sessions in the Awesomeness Meet & Greet Hall is if you entered matchmaking.

Here’s everything you need to know to be prepared to meet your favs!

When you picked up your credentials at Registration, you received your RFID wristband which holds all of the meet & greets that you were selected for during matchmaking. Damaged or defaced wristbands will not be honored; they may be replaced for a $20.00 fee at the Registration Help Desk. They’re specifically designed to withstand showers and parties and all kinds of stuff, so keep them on! You will not get into your meet & greet session if you don’t have it.

You can line up in Hall D for each session ONE HOUR BEFORE the scheduled start time through A HALF HOUR AFTER the scheduled start time. If you show up earlier, security will tell you to go explore the amazing Expo Hall and come back later. If you show up late… well, just don’t show up late.

Once inside the hall, there will be signs to remind you who will be in each area. Head to the correct queue line as indicated on the meet & greet schedule you received during matchmaking and your wristband will be scanned to make sure you are in the right place. Once you are scanned in and confirmed, you are good to go! Don’t forget to say hello to the person next to you in line — chances are you have a lot in common!

Some creators are doing several sessions during VidCon, but you will only be allowed to attend the session indicated on your matchmaking schedule. You will not be able to switch your meet & greet time.

There are three types of meet & greets at VidCon. Please check the signage and listen to staff instructions to help speed the process along. Your session type(s) are indicated on your schedule from the matchmaking platform.

Professional Photographs:

Order holders will receive emails for each of the attendees on their order who had meet & greets. Each email will contain a link you can click to access your photos! Sorry, no selfies at this type of session! Some creators may allow autographs — please listen to security staff for further instructions. Don’t worry if you’re not seeing your photos right away. Pictures can take a few days to appear on the website.

Selfies and Autographs:

Pretty self-explanatory! Please respect a limit of one selfie and/or one item signed.

Roundtable:

Attendees will sit in small groups, and the creator will stop by each group to chat for a bit before moving on to the next group. No selfies/autographs are allowed unless otherwise stated by security or staff.

CREATOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

We’ve curated three categories of sessions — Production Skills, Audience Development, and Career Essentials — focused on helping you develop specific skill sets with the goal of educating you and enhancing your experience at VidCon. Led by industry innovators and leaders, each category of sessions will teach participants the latest and most valuable trends and skills to excel in the world of online video. By participating in a minimum of four sessions in a single category, you will earn the official VidCon Creator Certification.

How it works:

Take a look at the categories below and decide which sessions you would like to attend. At the end of any of the sessions listed below, attendees of any Creator Track Certification session must scan in with their RFID wristband before a session begins and scan out after the session is finished to prove completion of a session.

Scanning will begin 15 minutes before a session starts and will end 20 minutes after the session is complete. The only way to get credit for a session is to get your RFID bracelet scanned both when the session begins and again once it ends!

If you complete four or more sessions within one category and get your bracelet scanned, the VidCon team will email you by Friday, July 20 to confirm your successful completion of the program. That email will also provide you with instructions on how to add this certification to your LinkedIn profile. You only need to complete one category to qualify, but feel free to com plete as many as you’d like.

In such a crowded digital landscape, it can be tempting to mimic other successful brands and adopt their social habits without going through the steps necessary to create meaningful and impactful content for your own channels. If we instead focus on building social channels rooted in authenticity, then it is possible to seek areas of improvement versus simply deeming content bad or poor performing. In this workshop-style session, Madison Utendahl, VP of Social Strategy at Known, will show how to peel back the layers to understand what authen ticity really means, and how it can help your brand succeed. She will guide attendees through what it takes to show up on social channels authentically, how to review social performance in a dependable way in order to discover areas to improve upon, and why listening to what isn’t working is just as powerful as knowing what is.

Dissecting

the ME-TA-VERSE BALLROOM ABC

Shelby Bier (Marketing Analyst, United Talent Agency), Edwin Wong (SVP Insights & Innovation, Vox Media)

Leading global entertainment, talent, and sports agency UTA, and leader in modern media, Vox Media, are teaming up on a consumer study about the future of the metaverse, and what role brands, media, and entertainment IP can play in this next frontier of digital engage ment. The study will uncover how consumers are already engaging with the metaverse, what they hope to get out of it once it is fully realized, and what it will take for the metaverse to reach widespread adoption. Through this research we aim to prove: that the metaverse will not replace the real world, but will establish a dynamic relationship to it, offering experiences that enhance those in the physical world. That consumers need structured environments & activities in the metaverse, which will be the responsibility of platforms, brands, and recognizable IP to define. In the metaverse’s first person environment, the audience becomes the actor and content and experiences revolve around the audience. With the media landscape more fragmented than ever, to win the attention of consumers, brands and entertainment/ media properties will need to make the consumer the “star” of the entertainment experience — an opportunity that the metaverse can uniquely cater to.

SUSTAINABILITY AT VIDCON

This year VidCon is taking meaningful steps in our path towards sustainability and we’re excited to share those efforts with you. In 2022, our main focus is to thoroughly understand our energy usage, waste removal, reuse practices, and more across all major areas of the event so we can make big improvements in those areas in 2023 and beyond.

What do you want to see VidCon do better in the future? And where do you want to show up for sustainability? Be sure to answer the sustainability questions in the attendee survey after the event so we can all keep getting better together! And in the meantime, here are some easy ways you can help:

• Take only what you need, whether that means food, paper towels, or event swag like conference guides.

• Bring a water bottle with you to VidCon to refill at the convention center, rather than purchasing new plastic water bottles every day.

• Carpool with friends to the convention center or back to your hotels.

SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK! VIDCON NOW

We want to hear from YOU!

Do you have thoughts, feelings, or opinions about your time at VidCon? We want to hear them! While you’re roaming VidCon, be on the lookout for a VidCon Official Research Team member and ask to chat with them! Please also check your email next week for our survey about the event. Hearing from you makes us better!

Born out of the pandemic, which forced us to look for new ways to bond, we created VidCon Now, a series of hundreds of digitally-delivered events and experiences that drew nearly 1 million viewers in 2020 and 2021.

Stay informed, entertained, and connected year round with our unique mix of creators, emerging stars, industry leaders, and insightful experts from around the globe.

Follow @VidCon on social media for access to exclusive content — coming to you weekly.

We’ll see you online!

COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY

VidCon’s first priority is the safety and health of our attendees, sponsors, speakers, creators, and staff. We are continuously working with our production partners and the Anaheim Convention Center and Visitor’s Bureau to ensure that VidCon 2022 will be a vibrant, fun, and educational celebration of online video that is safe for everyone. As such, all attendees will be required to abide by our COVID-19 procedures, which may continue to evolve as the situation develops.

As of now, all attendees 5 years and older must provide proof of full vaccination (final dose 14 days prior to the event) or a negative COVID-19 PCR test or antigen test taken within 72 hours of the event. Photo ID will also be required for those 18 years and older. For more details on VidCon’s vaccine and testing requirements, please see our FAQs on our website.

As of now, masks are optional but recommended.

Refusal to cooperate with these procedures on site will result in ejection from the venue without refund.

VidCon reserves the right to modify and add requirements in its sole discretion. For additional information, please refer to our COVID-19 Policy on our website.

CODE OF CONDUCT

It is vital to us that VidCon is a safe place for all attendees. VidCon is a private event, and people who mistreat or disrespect other people may be removed and not allowed to return for the duration of the event. In addition, VidCon reserves the right to permanently ban attendees and guests who do not comply with the Code of Conduct, including for future events hosted by VidCon.

ACCESS

VidCon badges and RFID wristbands are required for attendance to all official VidCon events. Badges must be worn around the neck and visible at all times. Badges and RFID wristbands are non-transferable.

We do not clear rooms between events. All activities have limited capacity as set by the Fire Marshal, so even though your badge and wristband are required to access all activities, they do not guarantee you access to any activity if it has reached its capacity.

All meet & greets are of a limited nature and your VidCon badge and wristband do not guarantee autographs or photos in the Meet & Greet Hall.

FEATURED CREATORS

The Featured Creators who participate in VidCon are excited to see attendees, but please be respectful. They need to be safe and ensure all attendees are safe while moving around the event, so do not run at or crowd around Featured Creators in public walkways, near escalators, or around doorways.

Featured Creators also need to take a break at their hotel, so attempting to follow them to their rooms or to restrooms, riding the hotel elevators, waiting in the hotel lobby, or any other similar behavior is prohibited.

Purchasing a VidCon ticket does not guarantee that you will meet a particular Featured Creator.

HARASSMENT

Disorderly conduct may include (but isn’t limited to) any behavior that is illegal, unsafe, disruptive, discriminatory or causes discomfort to our attendees or guests. If someone doesn’t want to talk to you, don’t keep talking to them. If you do not have permission to touch someone, do not touch them. Please view our Anti-Harassment Policy at www.vidcon.com/legal/tfiead/antiharassment-policy for more information.

Pranks that are emotionally, mentally, or physically harmful to any people or property at

VidCon, actually or potentially, are prohibited.

If we hear about anyone pranking in ways that are disruptive to the well-being of our guests, attendees or staff, responsive action may be taken, up to and including being banned from future events hosted by VidCon.

LISTEN TO STAFF

All VidCon attendees and badge purchasers must adhere to the instructions of all VidCon employees and agents, all security employees and agents, the staff of Anaheim Convention Center, and any and all law enforcement personnel.

PROHIBITIONS

Alcohol, drugs, illegal substances, weapons, and items that can be mistaken as weapons are expressly prohibited, even if they are part of a costume. Masks or other headpieces that cover the entire face are not allowed. Large backpacks are not allowed, and other similar bags or containers are subject to search and may be prohibited. Unlawful sale or attempted sale of badges and RFID wristbands will result in the revocation of those credentials without refund.

IMAGE RELEASE

This is the part where we go ahead and state the obvious: VidCon is an event produced by, for, and about online video enthusiasts. As such, VidCon may be recorded or reproduced by VidCon, its designees, and/or attending participants. By registering to be in attendance at VidCon, you hereby authorize VidCon, its designees, and/or attending participants to record, transcribe, modify, reproduce, perform, display, transmit and distribute in any and all media, in any form, and for any purpose any such recordings of VidCon. By registering for VidCon you hereby release VidCon, its designees, its employees, its agents, and/or its attending participants from any and all claims or causes of action you or your agents may possess, now or in the future, in connection with such activities.

MINORS

VidCon is an all-ages event. An attendee’s age may affect whether they need a ticket and if they are permitted to attend on their own:

Minors 8 and under do not need a ticket but must be accompanied by an adult (18+) who has purchased a ticket to attend VidCon. Minors between the ages of 9 and 15 must have a VidCon ticket and must be accompanied by a ticketed adult (18+) at all times.

Minors 16 or older are not required to be accompanied by a chaperone if it’s OK with their parent/guardian. If a parent/guardian

would like to accompany their child in any capacity, they need a ticket to attend VidCon.

Parents or adult supervisors of minors are responsible for the actions of minors they are supervising. Minors may be prohibited from certain areas due to the sale of alcohol at certain locations.

LIABILITY

You assume any and all risks occurring before, during, or after VidCon. You release VidCon, Viacom International Inc., and the Anaheim Convention Center and their agents, licensees, assignees, employees, and their respective affiliates and representatives from any and all claims or causes of action arising from or related to VidCon events.

VIDCON TERMS OF USE

All VidCon attendees and guests are required to adhere to this Code of Conduct. The VidCon badge, which is required for admittance to all VidCon activities, is a revocable license. VidCon or its designees may, without refund, revoke this license for noncompliance with these terms or for disorderly conduct.

VIDCON HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES

All VidCon attendees and guests are required to adhere to the Health and Safety Guidelines, as determined in VidCon’s sole discretion, which are made a part of this Code of Conduct. The VidCon badge, which is required for admittance to all VidCon activities, is a revocable license. VidCon or its designees may, without refund, revoke this license for noncompliance with these terms or for disorderly conduct.

ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER TERMS OF USE

Attendees of VidCon agree to observe and comply with any and all applicable policies, rules, and regulations of the Anaheim Convention Center. VidCon or its designees may, without refund, revoke this license or refuse admission for failure to observe and comply with any and all applicable policies, rules, and regulations of the Anaheim Convention Center as determined by VidCon and/or the Anaheim Convention Center.

Scope of Policy:

This VidCon US Anti-Harassment Policy applies to all attendees at VidCon including but not limited to: participants/attendees, guests, staff, sponsors, and exhibitors. All attendees are expected to comply with this policy at the event venue and all eventrelated social events.

Consequences of Violation of this Policy:

All reports of harassment will be directed immediately to VidCon organizers who may consult with and engage other staff, leaders and legal counsel as appropriate. Event security and/or local law enforcement may be involved, as appropriate based on the specific circumstances. VidCon will treat complaints of violations of this policy with the utmost seriousness and take steps to address immediately. In response to a report of harassment, VidCon may take any action they deem appropriate. Such actions may range from a verbal warning, to ejection from the event without a refund, to being banned from participating in any future events.

If you have any questions about this policy, please contact info@vidcon.com.

CREDENTIALS

BOTH your badge and your wristband MUST be with you at all times to gain access to and remain in the venue. If at any time you are found inside the venue without both, you may be asked to leave the event. Here’s what else you need to know about your credentials:

Scan your wristband every time you enter the event and every time you exit.

Wristbands are non-transferable and non-exchangeable.

Wristbands will be treated as void if tampered with; do not cut or try to remove your wristband.

Wristbands do not loosen once tightened so don’t pull your wristband too tight!

Lost, damaged, or stolen wristbands will be deactivated. Replacement wristbands are subject to a $20 replacement fee and you must show photo ID and/or proof of purchase to get a replacement.

Your wristband should remain on your wrist throughout the event. Do not remove your wristband until all official programming is over and you have exited the venue. Only tickets purchased from the official event website or in the on-site sales desks will provide you access to the event. Only badges and wristbands provided by VidCon’s official Registration desk are valid. Do not purchase tickets, wristbands, or badges from third parties.

DOS AND DONT’S

Do have tons of fun!

We’ve put together a great schedule packed full of activities, live performances, panels, and Q&A sessions, all with YOU in mind. Make VidCon the best weekend ever; laugh, dance, and celebrate with new and old friends alike.

Don’t go too hard. Be sure to take care of yourself by drinking plenty of water, taking regular meal breaks, and getting enough sleep. If you’re planning on hanging out in the Arena Plaza or Festival Area, don’t forget to put on some sunscreen and bring extra to reapply!

Do dress for success. Comfortable shoes and clothing are a must. Pro tip: The temperatures in the convention center and outside are very different, so don’t forget to wear layers or bring a jacket just in case. That being said, VidCon is a great place to show off your style and express yourself!

Don’t leave your personal items unattended.

If you happen to leave something behind, be sure to check the Lost & Found in the ACC, just off the Arena Plaza.

Do have a game plan and come prepared.

We don’t want you to miss a thing, so give yourself plenty of time and arrive early. If you haven’t yet, don’t forget to download the official VidCon app to build your own schedule and enable notifications so you’re always up-to-date on everything happening at the event. Be sure to check your emails and our socials as well!

Don’t forget to try new things. It can be easy to get stuck in your comfort zone, but with so much to do and see at VidCon, there are tons of fun new things to enjoy and celebrate.

Do be respectful and courteous of others, whether it be VidCon staff, security, or another attendee. Take a peek at our Anti-Harassment Policy if you’re ever unsure, and in general just treat others how you want to be treated. Remember, pranking in a way that is physically or emotionally harmful, even for the purpose of a video, is unacceptable.

Don’t forget to socialize and make new friends.

We’re all here because we’re passionate about online video, so it’s very likely that those around you share many of the same interests. VidCon can be a great place

Do follow the rules. Above all, we want everyone to be safe and comfortable, so please don’t do anything that is unsafe or could get you in trouble. Please also look over and follow the protocols listed in the Health & Safety section on page 67 and take a look at our Code of Conduct. Let’s show everyone what a great community we are!

Don’t hesitate to talk to VidCon staff or security if you need help, feel unsafe, or witness anything inappropriate.

Again, your safety and comfort are extremely important to us, so please don’t be shy! If you see something dangerous, you can also call our 24-hour emergency hotline at +1 657-546-1504.

Do share your experience! It makes us so happy to see that you’re having a great time, so be sure to share your photos on social and tag them #VCUS22!

And as always…

DON’T FORGET TO BE AWESOME! 73

How do I figure out what’s going on at VidCon?

There are tons of ways to find out what’s happening around you at VidCon. You can look through our agenda in the guide you are holding right now or check our website at vidcon.com/agenda. You should also download the VidCon Mobile App sponsored by Linktree — just search VidCon US 2022 in the app store! The app is your one-stop shop to be totally in the know of what’s happening in the VidCon world. To be super-duper informed, you can also follow us on social @VidCon and keep an eye out for our emails throughout the event.

What does my badge/RFID wristband give me access to?

Community Track attendees have access to all content taking place on the ground floor and 200 level of the main building, as well the Festival Area. This includes three halls filled with panels, Q&As, expo booths, concerts, and more. If you entered Meet & Greet Matchmaking, you will have access to the Awesomeness Meet & Greet Hall during any sessions you received. If you did not enter matchmaking, you will have access to the Awesomeness Meet & Greet Hall if you wait in the Standby Line and are granted access to a session that way.

Creator Track badge holders have access to all Community Track areas, including the Awesomeness Meet & Greet Hall if they participated in Meet & Greet Matchmaking or if they choose to wait in the Meet & Greet Standby Line. Head to page 36 to see all the great sessions we have planned for our Creator Track!

Industry Track attendees have access to the 300 level of the ACC including Industry Track keynotes, workshops, and panels plus a lounge and booths in Ballroom E. There is a reception on Thursday evening on the California Terrance as well as a pre-event Welcome Reception on the Lanai Deck at the Hilton on Wednesday evening. On top of that, Industry badge holders have access to all events happening within the convention center, including the Meet & Greet Hall if they participated in Meet & Greet Matchmaking or stood in

the Standby Line. See page 52 for the full Industry Track schedule.

Where is the thing I’m trying to go to?

Maps of the whole convention center and surrounding areas begin on page 91. Each agenda item will have a room number or name next to it, so cross-reference that with the map and you’re good to go! If you still feel lost, ask a staff member or guard, or visit our VidCon Info Desk in Lobby C.

Is there WiFi?

Yes, WiFi is available at the convention center. However, with so many people trying to connect at once, it may not be the fastest. Unfortunately, there is not much we can do to make it better, but we’re sure you will figure out something that will work.

How do I share my experience at VidCon 2022?

We LOVE to see what you’re up to at VidCon! Tag your posts with #VCUS22 including your videos, Facebook and Instagram posts, tweets, twitches, pins, snaps, and chats.

How can I meet my favorite creator?

Most scheduled meet & greet sessions with Featured Creators were assigned ahead of time via Meet & Greet Matchmaking. Only those who received their meet & greet sessions via matchmaking are guaranteed access to meet & greets.

There are a limited number of spots in meet & greet sessions with select Featured Creators that will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis from a standby line. To learn more about attending these sessions, please visit the Meet & Greet page of the VidCon website.

There will also be a limited selection of impromptu, first-come, first-served meet & greets that will take place in the BCAZ (Bonus Creator Appearance Zone) presented by TikTok. Because these are spontaneous, we can’t share ahead of time who will be there or when, but you may have a chance to see one of your favorites there! Download the VidCon Mobile

App sponsored by Linktree and enable notifications to find out who will be there and when!

Where can I score a delicious meal?

Don’t let the hanger set in! There are plenty of options around the convention center, including a bunch of great food trucks in the Festival Area and the Arena Plaza, as well as some food court options within the convention center.

I’m a parent/guardian. What should I do all weekend?

If your child is under the age of 16, you must accompany them at all times. If you have purchased a VidCon ticket, you can enjoy quality bonding time with your child by going to programming to learn more about this whole online video thing. If you don’t have a VidCon ticket, you will not be permitted inside the event, but if your child is over the age of 15 and you’re fine with them being on their own, feel free to kick back and relax in our Chaperones’ Lounge near Registration in ACC North 100.

Where is the Lost and Found?

If you have found a lost item, please bring it to the Anaheim Convention Center Admin Office, located in the Arena Plaza near the flagpole. If you have lost an item, please go to the Admin Office to see if it has been returned or contact the Anaheim Convention Center Lost & Found. They can be reached by phone at (714) 765-8950.

My badge or wristband was damaged or lost. What should I do?

Damaged, broken, defaced, or lost credentials can be replaced for a $20 fee per each replaced credential. If you replace a wristband, the original wristband will be deactivated and a new one will be loaded with all of your current info. Replacement credentials may be purchased at the Registration Help Desk. You must provide a photo ID and proof of purchase to get a replacement.

Previous years when I’ve written this note it’s felt like so much has happened that I always want to say, “Where to begin?” But this year, 2022, our first year at an in-person VidCon in Anaheim since 2019, I truly don’t know how to encompass everything that’s happened and everyone who’s helped us — and me — get to this place. This place we’re all currently in together, standing next to each other, making the magic of VidCon come to life again.

Cheers to the team: Colin, Sarah, Wendi, Chelsea, Hannah, Travis, MaiLinh, Jade, Karyn, Armando, Justin, Kailee, Sandi, Mel, Jeannette, Ali, Rachel, Fiona, Kyle, Celine, and Jacques. We’ve experienced so much change together and it’s such an honor and a pleasure to watch everyone do what they’re so excellent at doing every day. Thank you also to Jim for your many years of mentorship and expertise. I will miss you!

Cheers also to our extended family of part-time crew, sponsorship sales teams, the vendors who bring our wild ideas to life, the many sponsors who bring their wild ideas to VidCon, and all of the people who keep all these people safe at every point in their VidCon journey.

Cheers to the creators, for whom this event was originally created and without whom it couldn’t continue to be. Thank you for being so vibrant, thoughtful, weird, and inspiring. You all made so much happen the last three years and I’m so excited to see what you all do next.

Cheers also, of course, to you, the fans! How I’ve missed the excited squeals, the jumping hugs between long-lost online friends, seeing you spark new friendships and learn more about creators and each other in the summer sun. If you’re a parent or a chaperone of a young fan, cheers to you too, and get some rest!

Finally, though it’s been a while since we banged on pots and howled out the window, cheers to all the health care workers, essential workers, scientists, science communicators, and anyone else whose work allowed us to meet in person like this after many long months of isolation, policy changes, confusing rhetoric, and surges of illness. It cannot be overstated how much so many of you have sacrificed and I’m so grateful for all the effort everyone put forward to get us to this point.

“ “

To all of you — the makers, the dreamers, the stewards of progress and of equity and of creativity — this VidCon is for you. Thank you for sharing your VidCon with us.
