Rural Ramblings Testing Times
By Geoff Wharton to have an outdoor space in which to enjoy and escape, even temporarily, from the news, have found this so uplifting and has helped to “level the boat” a little. Gardens and growing things can give us something to look forward to for the next day for both children and adults alike. Attention is drawn away from problems and we can focus on the miracles of life from the germination of a seed to a song thrush singing it’s head off at the top of a swaying tree. It seems that we are being challenged in a way like never before and we can either adapt, support and innovate or just give in. I suppose it’s sink or swim time?

Although the future is certainly not as secure as we previously hoped and significant challenges will inevitably arise for the individual and the way society is organised, there is one aspect of human nature which can help us, and that is we are adaptable and innovative and we have the potential to come together especially during difficult times. One thing is certain, we will certainly be tested in the coming days. So many people have been surprised at all the birdsong this spring and indeed they have helped to take our minds off all the terrible statistics we are hearing at the moment. Many people lucky enough
