Survey Says What Does Our Most Recent Survey Tell Us About Vineyard Columbus? By Rich Nathan

7. Vineyard Columbus has a significant number of Foreign-Born Attendees. We found that 16.6% of our attendees were born outside of the United States. That’s higher than Franklin County’s foreign-born percentage which is between 11-12%. We have attendees at Vineyard Columbus from over 125 different countries. This is one of the things that makes Vineyard Columbus so wonderful - the opportunity to fellowship with people from across the world. I believe that every church should be an outpost for the Kingdom of God in their communities reflecting the characteristics of the Kingdom in their local settings. One of the characteristics of the Kingdom of God is the breaking down of dividing walls between people. This is a great strength of Vineyard Columbus.

3. We have experienced a long-term decline in the percentage of our church that is 18-30 with the end of the Joshua House ministry and our lack of investment in campus work. This next year, you’ll be hearing a lot more about Vineyard Columbus’ renewed commitment to reach people who are 1830 years old. We’re also going to refocus attention on college campuses in the Central Ohio area. While there are many campus groups who work at our local universities, Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:37-38). College is a key time when people make long-term decisions about life. And it’s a key time when people make long-

God use that crisis to shape your walk with God? One year after we came to Vineyard Columbus I was diagnosed with breast cancer. During this crisis God showed me that I had not surrendered my whole life to Jesus. My priorities in Venezuela had been my career and my family and not God. So, my prayer was not “God please heal me,” but “God I surrender my life to you.” I promised to seek God with all my mind, strength and my heart. That was a turning point in my spiritual life.

V I N E YA R D C O L U M B U S . O R G

The history of La Viña is a story of God’s work in bringing together a former doctor from Venezuela and a small group of Hispanic people living in Columbus, Ohio. Again, and again God proves himself good and faithful in weaving together the people he called to become the thriving congregation of La Viña.
