Chairman’s Report:
I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year and are ready to get back to normality. Doesn’t it seem a long time ago when normality was normal, then covid popped its head up and the new ‘covid normal’ was normal. Then we got back to the pre-covid normal as we are today. Now China has opened its boarders, so who knows what could become of normal.
Anyway aren’t we fed up with all of these goings on, so just protect ourselves the best we can and get on with life and drive our old vehicles.
Since the last magazine we have had the Classic Car Breakfast with 13 of our Members attending with a variety of cars and of course many other vehicles from other Clubs and individuals. Now that the days are warmer the number of cars at the Red Barn is improving.
Then on the 17th of December we participated in the Kawerau Santa Parade as we have for many years decorated up in Christmas theme and enjoyed by the public, by their many comments.
Then it was off to Harry and Gay’s place for a Picnic BBQ (as we usually do). A great afternoon for chin wagging and stories and looking over new Club Members Simon and Annie’s 1939 Ford Sedan Deluxe (on its first Club outing) a very nice addition to our Club vehicles.
Thanks to Harry and Gay for a fine day and great hospitality as usual.
Events that are coming up: The Chairman’s run on Sunday 15th Jan, meet at Bunnings Carpark at 10.30 for a tour of mostly backroads to Kawerau for a Picnic BBQ lunch, all will be supplied, but if you feel you would like to bring something to share, please do. Bring your chairs and “liquid refreshments” and have a great afternoon.
Then on Sunday 5th Feb we are holding our Annual East Coast Rally, centered at the Paroa Rugby Clubrooms, always a great event with participants from far and wide. Phil and Margaret and their team are doing a great job in arranging this year’s event, so please support them by entering the Rally. (An Entry Form is attached separately). There is a competitive and a non-competitive touring section for you to choose from, both are always fun.
