GRAHAM HUNTER We were all saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Graham Hunter on Wednesday, 18th October 2017. A lot of you will have known Graham for many years, through the Vintage Car Club, as well as knowing him when he worked for the West Coast Electric Power Board. He and Frances, who we lost 2 years ago, were very involved with the historic town of Waiuta and well known for their work up on the hill as well as years devoted to the town of Reefton. Graham continued to come along to Club activities after Francie passed on and we thank his family for keeping him company on the trips between Reefton and Greymouth to join up with us. He was our Reefton contact and will be missed very much. A good representation of members travelled up to Reefton to attend his funeral and took part in the procession out to the Reefton cemetery. Graham would have been chuffed to see the cars following him on his last journey. Our sympathy has been extended to his family, as well as his brother John and Colleen (members) at this very sad time.

EVENTS ELSEWHERE I have entry forms for the 2018 Easter Rally to be held at Invercargill. There are members going from here, please contact me if you are interested in joining up with them. NOVEMBER CLUB RUN – 26th NOVEMBER Colin has organised lunch at Ikamatua for this month’s Club run. Nigel and Steffan McKay (Reefton) have organised a gold panning expedition at Slab Hut earlier for those who are interested. Colin will be sending you an email with details the week before so watch out for that information, as well as your contact ringer on the phone.
DECEMBER CLUB RUN – 17th DECEMBER Our last get together for 2017 will be our usual fish and chip evening at Shantytown. This year Colin has decided to make a slight change and make it our Christmas function, hence leaving January free of Club outings. The menu has been increased to include dessert & tea/coffee, cost $25 per head. Also bring along a small Christmas gift for Santa to distribute, value up to $10 each. Note that this is the 3rd Sunday in the month, not the 4th. GREYMOUTH CHRISTMAS PARADE – 9th DECEMBER This is on the 9th December, commencing at 1pm. As in the past, our Club has been invited to take part and those who are interested in including their vehicle/s in the parade, please gather at the Army Hall, Gresson St at 12.30pm . HITS CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL - 10th DECEMBER We have also been invited to present vehicles for display at the old R&N Trading store site (cnr Boundary St and Mawhera Quay). To have your car there between 9-10am for display until 4.00pm.

What do you do on a beautiful sunny West Coast Labour Day. You get your great-grandson out to play with your toys of course – and give him the steering wheel. John Fensom with Malakai (sp hope I’m right) in John’s recently acquired Model A Raceabout. And then you get out another one (Betsy) for another joint.

SERVICE BADGES – To those members who are nearing 25, 35 or 50 years membership, please contact Membership officer David Campbell. You are entitled to a service badge for your continued membership. Check out the date you joined the Vintage Car Club.
NAME BADGES – Also, please contact David Campbell if you would like a name badge. The Branch supplies your first one.
VIC FORMS - A reminder to all members who have VIC cards that are due to expire, you will receive a personalised RENEWAL FORM from the National Office at least three months before the due date. You cannot download a form off the internet. They are personalised for each individual vehicle.
VERO INSURANCE - If you take your Insurance out with VERO they will then pay the Branch a small Commission which helps with Branch finances. Please note that when applying for Insurance cover with VERO you must quote the Branch number which is 36 plus your membership number.
