EVENTS ELSEWHERE Canterbury Branch Swapmeet – October 6th, 7th & 8th. If you contact Canterbury Branch you can buy a pass for the meet. This involves a bracelet, don’t know much else. Check out your Beaded Wheels for contact details. Don’t forget the Nelson Biennial Rally 13-15th October. We do have members going up to Nelson. I now have entry forms for the 2018 Easter Rally to be held at Invercargill. There are members going from here, so again, contact me if you are interested. BITS AND PIECES Last month’s Club run to Berlins was a pleasant day, Colin had another fine day to mark up, it was great to catch up with some of our Westport, Reefton and Maruia based members. We send our very best wishes to Maria Giles who is presently in Christchurch Hospital. We hope it won’t be too long before Maria is back home with us but she is certainly in the right place at the moment. Get well soon Maria. To others who are or have not been well, out best wishes to you also for a good recovery.

Our monthly morning tea meeting at Shantytown is still being well attended, in fact we have at least 12-14 members come along each month. We have several ladies come along too. It’s just an informal chat and get together over a coffee and scone, still priced at $5 for a filtered coffee and a scone. We are always pleased to see a new face, as well as an old one of course. As I have not a lot to report this month, and we are early, I thought I would share this with you, courtesy of the “Rolling Wheels” the Waimate Branch magazine. I think some of us can relate to it now.

If My Body Was a Car

If my body was a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a new model. I’ve got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull… But that’s not the worst of it. My headlights are out of focus and it’s especially hard to see things up close. My traction is not as graceful as it once was I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. and it takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently. But here’s the worst of it… Almost every time I sneeze, cough or splutter, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!!
