The Rusty Mug in Spokane, WA
In the heart of Spokane’s up and coming Sprague Union District is Spokane’s newest vintage shop. Brian and Lindsey Chastian and Michelle Meyer opened The Rusty Mug in October 2019. The new shop offers a broad selection of eclectic items for all tastes. Featuring a combination of collectibles, vintage finds & oldfashioned candy, the store provides a unique experience for all ages with multiple vendors featuring distinct styles, each offering something different. Family owned and operated, the shop hopes to share their love of oldies & oddities with others and create a laid back atmosphere customers will appreciate for many more years to come. “Whether you are looking for the final piece to complete your collection, searching for something from your past, or just wanting to have a good time, The Rusty Mug is a must-see!” states Lindsey. The Rusty Mug is located at 1916 E Sprague Avenue, Spokane WA, hours vary by season. Tucked into Spokane’s Monroe District, is the newest addition to this destination antique and vintage shopping area. Maggie Coughlin and her two daughters love vintage objects and have collected their vintage finds over the years. Driving down Monroe in Spokane Maggie spied a for rent sign in the window of a vacant storefront next to Chic and Shab, she asked her daughters Cindy Baker and Lisa Constant if they wanted to open a little shop instead of setting 6
up booths at various juried vendor markets. The women decided to open Rustic Daises on November 24, 2018 Rustic Daisies features a wide variety of items, from unique antiques and upcycled furniture to vintage finds. The shop owners have a blast finding items that have been sitting in garages and basements for years. The quaint shop has a homey atmosphere and the warm personalities of the three women match the inviting feel of their storefront. “We love working together, and meeting the awesome people that come in the shop each day.” states Lisa. Rustic Daisies is located at 1007 W Carlisle Street, Spokane, and is open Monday-Saturday 11-5. Kayla Bren’s love for quality goods and reasonable prices began when she was young, growing up on thrifted finds and upcycled products. “I never minded the hunt for classy, and the thrill of finding the product I was looking for at an affordable price, which still inspires me.” says Kayla. Today, along with her love of color, vintage items and trendy re-uses, it’s something she wants to pass on to her customers. At Kayla’s shop, Lemon Salvage, shoppers will find the quality items they love on a budget they can afford from used clothing and shoes, to handmade jewelry, paper goods and gifts, Kayla wants customers to have a high end experience at the
cost of thrift store; for their day to be a little brighter walking out then it was when they came in. “The store is meant to feel bright and clean and comfortable, like home. We have a variety of products and creative vendors to shop from, but we also have a place to sit down for a cup of coffee. I want people to think quality and comfort at Lemon Salvage, not their typical thrift store.” states Bren. Lemon Salvage is located in a classic 1907 home at 2003 W Northwest Boulevard, Spokane, WA and is open Tuesday-Saturday 10-5. Last year, when Megan and Matt Bright, owners of Junk Vintage Shop, in Coeur d’ Alene’s Midtown area, discovered that developers had impending plans to build an apartment complex on their lot, they immediately began their search for the perfect new location, which would be able to accommodate their 35 local vendors, and possibly add a few more from their waiting list. Not wanting to leave the heart of Coeur d’ Alene’s vintage shopping district, it was vital that they remain in the Midtown area, if at all possible. “The old, empty Joann Fabrics building, just a couple blocks north, had been calling to us for a long time”, says Megan. Every day, we’d drive past it on the way home, and I always thought, “What if…”. Without the developer’s impending future plans for the current store’s location, Megan admits, they would not have taken the leap to pursue such a bold move to 15,000+ sq ft
commercial building, almost tripling the retail space they’d had at Junk. “Our vendors and customers were so supportive throughout the entire process—they all truly believed in us and our dream, and our vendors worked so hard alongside us to make this happen as well. I am so thankful to all of them!.” states Megan.
Midtown Market Home & Vintage was officially born
on August 17, 2019. “I feel like everything happens for a reason”, says Megan. “We really saw this entire ordeal as a way to start fresh and re-brand. Over the past few years of owning Junk, we realized that the name “Junk” (although well-known among the vintage community), wasn’t doing us any favors in helping to attract a new customer base. We really wanted a name that would speak to the everyday people driving by and shopping at the Safeway next door---locals who may never even think twice about shopping at a ‘vintage’ or antique store.” states Bright. The store has officially evolved into a “Home & Vintage Market” featuring a diverse, variety of goods from over 65 local vendors-both old & new, handmade, gift items, clothing, bohostyle, mid-century, antiques & primitives—something to fit all personal tastes. As home decor tastes evolve, the couple’s focus is now home and décor, instead of strictly vintage and antique offerings. The Bright’s passion lies in curating a beautiful home, and offering a variety of décor and furniture that speaks to all of their

customer’s personal tastes, featuring the latest Pinterest-inspired and current design trends. Midtown Market Home & Vintage is located at 1003 N. 4th St, Coeur d’ Alene, ID, and is open Monday-Friday 11-5, Saturday 10-5, Sunday 12-4 On the scenic Palouse Highway 27, halfway between Spokane and Pullman sits the quaint little town of Tekoa, WA. Tekoa is a wonderful destination where one can spend the day shopping, dining, and enjoying the friendly people who live and work there. Make sure to bring your camera, as it is a gorgeous drive with ever-changing scenery. As you enter Tekoa, nestled in a turn of the century brick building that used to be the town’s grocery store is Homestead General Store, which is currently filled with unique gifts and a wide range of antiques. Owners Dee Dee Lee and Susie Creger have a deep passion for antiques and gifts. The women are partners and sister-in-law, Dee Dee and her husband Jim’s previous experience includes running an antique mall in a historic church and participating in antique shows throughout the Washington area. Susie and her husband Chet have been involved in the antique and gift business off and on since 1980, the latest was running a shop in Langley, Whidbey Island. Together the four opened their latest venture, together they opened Homestead General Store, in May 2019.
Homestead General Store is located at 116 N Crosby Street, Tekoa, WA and is open Wednesday-Saturday 10-4. Nancy Thorson, Debi Anderson and Tami Schwartz met and became friends while working together at the Whitman Antique Mall. The three friends may have different talents and knowledge, but they share a passion for seeing people happy and successful. Nancy has been dealing in antiques and vintage items for over 30 years, she closed her booth in an Antique Mall in Spokane and looked for a place to open a shop. She has a passion for vintage clothes and jewelry. Tami has been involved in antiquing most of her life. She managed The Whitman Antique Mall in Colfax for several years. Debi has an artistic spirit with years of experience in painting and creative display. Her talent is turning well-loved furniture into beautiful pieces using her favorite chalk type paints. The women joined forces to set up vendor booths at vintage shows and eventually decided to create a vintage show for Whitman County. In 2015, Route 26 Vintage Market, was born inspired by their love of all things old and their creative spirits. The friends bring the same fun atmosphere to their new store front by the same name which opened on August 2019. Located in the heart of downtown Colfax, WA. Route 26 Vintage Market is part of the revitalization of the downtown shopping district, one
of many friendly stores in downtown Colfax to visit and shop for vintage and handmade deals. Route 26 Vintage Market is located at 119 S. Main, Colfax WA and is open Thursday-Saturday 10-4 in the winter months and 10-6 in the summer. When you walk into Famous Joe’s Vendor Mall you will be greeted with finds and handmade goods only found in vendor malls and shows. Western shirts, faded metal band t-shirts, vintage rabbit fur jackets, sought out collectibles and even handmade macramé home decor. Whether you are an avid collector or simply appreciates locally made goods, you will find it here. Three family members opened Famous Joe’s Vendor Mall in October 2019; Sally Guthrie, Kessler Guthrie, and Courtney Schuerman. The family also owns and operate both of the Flamin’ Joe’s restaurants in Spokane. The shop owners are all lifelong gardeners, crafters, thrifters, yard sale aficionados, and flippers. All three embrace upcycling and are adamant about “thinking green”. “One of our favorite events is when we have our family yard sale. We love meeting people with our own sense of thriftiness and repurposing. We fell in love with the business after having booths at local vendor malls.” states Sally. Famous Joe’s is now a co-op of over 100 unique vendors, each with their own unique style from antique, vintage, collectibles, western and boho decor.
Famous Joe’s is located at 9126 E. Sprague Ave, Spokane, WA and is open 10-6 daily John and Becky Moore of Hayden, ID are passionate about reclaimed wood, the couple recently remodeled their 1940s house. When they tore it apart, they were excited to reuse all the old lumber. Even the oak floors were re-purposed from the original house. After spending 20 years in the high end home building and retail industries, the Moore’s now bring their passion for creativity, painting and repurposing to a storefront in Dalton Gardens, ID.
The couple opened Reclaimed in February 2020. The shop will cater to the DIY and rehab enthusiast offering classes such as girls power tools, cabinet rehab, pallet clock class, bring your own piece, and Annie Sloan 101.

“By opening Reclaimed Cottage, we will be continuing the work of Nancy Jones of Artworks. Nancy taught me the art of chalk paint techniques, paint product and project design. Our shop will feature a large variety of products, IOD transfers/molds, general finishes and all the essentials for the DIY project” states Becky. Reclaimed Cottage is located at 7352 N Government way in Dalton Gardens, ID and is open Tuesday-Friday 10-6 and Saturday 10-7. 7
