VAA Inviting All Round Engine Aircraft to EAA AirVenture 2013 The Vintage Aircraft Association (VAA) is rolling out the red carpet for all round engine aircraft owners at AirVenture 2013. Under the banner theme “Round Engine Rodeo” all round engine aircraft owners are formally invited to fly their big beautiful round engine airplanes to Oshkosh this year. According to VAA President Geoff Robison, “We had a very successful turn out in the VAA area last year when we hosted ‘Cubs 2 Oshkosh.’ Over 180 J-3 Cubs participated and it was a fantastic attraction for all attendees to see. Building on that success, the VAA wishes to invite all round-engine aircraft owners to fly to Oshkosh and display their wonderful airplanes.” “Building under the theme ‘Round Engine Rodeo’ we hope to attract at least 100 roundengine planes to AirVenture this year. Special preferred parking will be provided and several different make-and-model attending airplanes will be featured each day at the VAA Vintage in Review, in front of the VAA Red Barn,” Robison added. The VAA board began making plans for this event in late November. In addition to the preferred parking, they are also looking at offering other incentives yet to be determined. VAA board member, Steve Krog has once again offered the Hartford, Wisconsin airport (HXF) as a rest/fuel stop before flying into OSH. The volunteers there will have food, refreshments, fuel, housing and entertainment available for who stop there. Turf and hard surface runways are available at HXF, and it is only about 45 miles south of OSH. If you own a round-engine aircraft, please join us in the Vintage area at AirVenture 2013 and share your beautiful airplane with thousands who would appreciate seeing and learning more about it.
