JUNE IS MEN’S
HEALTH MONTH
MEN, TAKE TIME FOR A TUNE UP
It’s no secret that men need to pay more attention to their health. Much like keeping a vehicle in tip top shape by performing its routine maintenance, staying well depends on getting regular health check-ups and being in tune with your body. Prostate health is particularly important, since prostate cancer is one of the major health risks men face. And, about 1 man in 9 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. When caught early, however, it is treatable and potentially curable. So for Men’s Health Month in June, take time to learn about your prostate and how to keep it and your body running efficiently.
But first, what is a prostate? It’s a walnutsized gland in men located below the bladder and in front of the rectum. It surrounds part of the urethra, which is the tube in the penis that carries urine from the bladder. It produces seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm.
Pretty important job, don’t you think? It becomes even more important as you get older.
As men age, the prostate naturally grows. The most common prostate issue for men over 50 is an enlarged prostate.
To stay ahead of these issues, see your urologist for regular check-ups. QUESTIONS TO ASK DURING YOUR VISIT When do I need a prostate exam? What is an enlarged prostate? What are the symptoms of an enlarged prostate? How is an enlarged prostate diagnosed? How many times a day should I be urinating? What should I eat for prostate health?
Take charge of your health now and see your health care provider. Your prostate will thank you for it.

LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction is consistently one of the top cosmetic procedures for male patients nationally. Liposuction is not just the removal of fat anymore. It has become a very precise science, creating muscle edges and shadowing, consistent with a fit and athletic physique. Further shaping can be created by injecting fat into the deltoids, pectoralis, and other muscles to improve size and shape without the workout! Liposculpture is about sculpting in every sense of the word. Covid gym closures have caused an increase in both male and female consultations for lipo sculpture this year. Muscle gain, definition, and fat loss get harder to accomplish as we age, especially without a consistent routine. Liposuction can help get you started on your road to looking and feeling more fit.
HORMONE BALANCE
Weight gain seen after 40 is often inversely proportional to your testosterone level. As your testosterone decreases, your estrogen increases—and so does your fat. This is not a good combination for men, and it can create multiple problems like fatigue, brain fog, weight gain—particularly in the abdominal area—decreased libido, and poor sexual function. This happens in every man as he ages, and it’s called andropause. I added BioTe pellets to my office services, in order to assure that the root cause was being treated and not just the superficial manifestations. The pellet has a safer profile

and absorption and steadier state than injections or creams and is frankly so much easier to use. All it takes is one blood draw to determine if this treatment is right for you, and I encourage every man over 40 who feels tired and has put on some weight to evaluate their hormones and see what truly ails them!
INJECTIONS
Women have realized the value of fillers and are definitely the majority of patients seen on injectable days. But did you know that men can benefit from this, too? Men lose their strong jawline as they age and develop wrinkles and sagging just like women do but in a different way. Filling a man’s face is different than a woman’s, as we are trying to create a more defined, square jawline and subtlety in facial wrinkle filling. A more interesting use of fillers that no one talks about is for penile girth. No man will ever admit that they could use this, and I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with their current package. However as men age, a good "confidence boost", is never a bad thing if you ask their spouse or significant other.
