Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

delivers baby girl he wait and the anticipation for the Bachchans are finally over with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan delivering a baby girl on November 16th at Seven Hills Hospital in suburban Mumbai. It was proud papa Abhishek Bachchan, who posted the news on micro-blogging site Twitter.com. Abhishek had last said that he would be happy to have a daughter who looked like Aishwarya. But it was proud grandfather, Amitabh Bachchan, who seemed to be the happiest. “I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl, A dada ji ... Ecstatic”, he tweeted. Earlier he had tweeted that the whole family was eagerly looking forward to the arrival of the baby apart from the fact that he was enjoying the hustle bustle in the house. For the Bachchan family and Ash, it must have been a respite from the media curiosity about her pregnancy that had reached a crescendo at one point of time. For five months, the Bachchan household and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were under the media glare, soon after Bachchan announced on Twitter in June that the stork had visited Ash and Abhishek. Aishwarya’s subsequent decision to opt out of Heroine came under widespread media attention. While Ash tried to play down on the news choosing to keep a low profile, the Bachchans decided that they would not grudge the prying media attention. Instead, the Big B made it a point to regularly tweet about his daughter-in-law’s pregnancy, while Ash herself was seen in at least two public appearances, at Sanjay and Manyata Dutt’s Mata Ki Chowki and Abu-Sandeep’s event. Also, the Bachchan family had a flamboyant godbharai program for Ash, prior to the pregnancy. However, when dailies started covering the details of Aishwarya’s appointment with the doctors, the media obsession got a bit too much and the Bachchans decided that enough was enough. The I & B Ministry issued a diktat to the satellite media about the dos and don’ts of the media news surrounding Aishwarya Rai’s delivery. The Broadcast Editor’s Association issuing a 10-point advisory, restricting OB vans from being posted outside the hospital. Anyway, the Bachchan baby remains the most anticipated baby in B-town.

What is Dirty Picture all about? It’s about a dancing star named Silk. The film is an ode to dancing stars who were popular in the era of the 80’s. That was the time when item numbers were specially written for them. Many popular actresses like Disco Shanti, Polyester Padmini, Nylex Nalini, and Rayon Revathi had come into the industry then. My character Silk is a woman with a care-a-damn attitude. She is a colourful babe who has no qualms about anything. She is childish and at the same time bold. People perceive her as shameless but she wants to enjoy every moment of her life. But when you say Silk, it is implied that the audiences will connect with the character of Silk Smitha. Is the character overtly sexual in the film? The film is not based on Silk Smitha as is being presumed. It is merely inspired by her because she was one of the most popular dancers of her times. As far as sexuality goes, the character definitely exudes a lot of sexuality in her clothes and attire, but not in her attitude. Her sexuality is beyond her physicality. She is unabashedly open and is not ashamed about it. She is very affectionate and is in love with life and everything around her. What preparations did you make for the role? What was the brief given to you? There was absolutely no preparation; director Milan Luthria kept telling me that there was no need for preparation. I had to simply visualize myself as a bindaas woman with a care-a-damn attitude. I found it a bit difficult to comprehend initially since I have a habit of preparing for all my roles. I would go to the office everyday and sit with Milan trying to figure out more about the character but he would simply ignore me and go about his work. Later when I started shooting, I realized that I was inhibited whereas he wanted me to be exactly the opposite and let go of my inhibitions completely. He told me to be unapologetic in everything I did so that it would come across on the screen too. He did ask me to put on some weight, which I happily did. I gained about ten kilos. How much did the character of Silk Smitha inspire you for the role? When I took up the role, I wanted to know what the actresses in those days were like. I saw a lot of movies that were released in the 70’s and 80’s. Silk Smitha was one of them. I saw her Sadma and three of her other films. I noticed that she was ahead of her time. She was in complete command of her life and was unapologetic about it. She took

pride in the way she was and it was completely justified. It was like saying you like sex? I am sex, take it or leave it. I find the same attitude in Rakhi Sawant who takes pride in what she does. It is wonderful to be like that. She is a front runner among the dancers. Didn’t you have inhibitions about taking up such a bold role, considering that you were known to be guarded about your choice of roles earlier? I did have inhibitions when I was first approached for the role. I was not ready for it but I felt proud that the director had even thought about me in such a bold role. When Milan Luthria first came to me, he told me that he had not envisioned anyone else in the role. This very fact made me think twice before I could say no. I guess he had a certain confidence that I would be able to pull off the role confidently. Aren’t you worried that the film will totally change your once dignified and subtle image in the market? That’s quite possible and why not? May be, when I grow old there will be some character named after me as ‘vivacious Vidya’. On my part, I found the whole experience exhilarating. Earlier I wasn’t sure whether I would ever wear a bikini because I don’t even wear a sleeveless top in my personal life. But I have learnt to shed all those inhibitions after doing this film. Rather I have forgotten the spelling of the word “inhibition”. I have had to completely unleash my sexuality in this role and I have done just that. So are we finally going to see you in a bikini? Like I said, if the role demands it, I may VISION ASIA

go ahead with it but I am still not sure. If I play a supermodel in the future, maybe I will have to wear one. Aren’t you amazed when you are approached for roles like Ishqiya or Dirty Picture? On the contrary, I am happy. It amazes me that they consider me capable of a variety of roles. On one hand I played a mother of a fourteen year old child, on the other I was the sober Sabrina Lal. In Ishqiya, I was a wild temptress. On the other hand, in Dirty Picture, I am the most sensual dancer leading a life of her own. It was no doubt very very challenging and also fulfilling for me as an actor. These roles are demanding but I love the adrenalin rush that they give me at the end of the day. That really makes the difference. How do you differentiate between sensuality and vulgarity? Sexuality is being sensuous and I think every woman is sensuous in some way or the other. But when sensuality is over exposed to a certain level, it becomes vulgarity. There are also times when you are hesitant to do a certain scene and are not comfortable with it. That’s when it becomes vulgar. On the other hand, it also depends on how the director and the cameraman shoot a particular scene. For instance, the dancers of those times were asked to be sensuous, but then they were captured on camera in a very different way. It makes a big difference how the director and the cinematographer eventually project an actor on screen.

You have taken the sari to the next level in your role. Which is your favourite in the film? I love the drapery and I feel it celebrates womanhood. It adapts to the character’s sensuality and yet makes her look elegant. I am very comfortable in it. My favourite of course is the red saree. I have never changed as many costumes in all my films put together, as I have in The Dirty Picture. I have worn around 100 costumes in the film. I think I have completely enjoyed doing some things in this film, which I had never experienced in any of my other films. A novel experience I had was of wearing bell bottom pants and polka dots which were extremely popular in the 80’s. All this was no doubt exhilarating but it was physically exhausting too. We are told that you took ill during the shooting? I did fall ill due to the hectic schedule of shooting simultaneously for two films-Dirty Picture and my next film, Kahaani. My hemo-

globin count dropped to 6.6 and I suddenly got breathless and fainted on the sets. I got a blood test done and that’s when my family realized that something was seriously wrong with my health. They panicked further when the doctor advised hospitalisation and bed rest for a few days. When your hemoglobin count goes low, you can’t do anything but have a good diet and rest well. I rested, had palak, beetroot and wheatgrass, and the haemoglobin levels rose automatically. How was it working with Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor for the first time? Emraan has been famously known as the serial kisser? Emraan is a man of few words. He is very shy contrary to his onscreen image. Tusshar was great fun and we played a lot of pranks on him. I and director Milan Luthria even played a prank on him, where he did a scene completely opposite of what was to be shot. This is your second film with Naseer? How was the experience? I enjoyed working with Naseer in Ishkiya and it was fun working with him in this film too, especially the song ‘oh la la’. He was at his vivacious best. He told me that he had left all the fun days be-

hind him and it was years since he had done a tirchi topiwale kind of song. We shot amongst oranges and had to roll down the slope. I thought it would be easy but believe me it was not. We were laughing at the end of the song. It was a tribute to songs of Jeetendra, Sridevi and Jaya Prada. Were you comfortable doing intimate scenes with him? It’s not easy doing intimate scenes, but yes, since it was part of the script, we had to do it and Naseer-saab is one of the few actors who make you comfortable in any scene. He’s a veteran and he makes me absolutely comfortable on the sets. He’s brilliant and convinces you to handle any scene with ease. There is no doubt about it. Two films with Naseeruddin Shah and two films with Amitabh Bachchan-who is more brilliant and whom do you enjoy working with more? It’s like asking whether my left eye is more important than the right one. When people ask me who my favourite co-stars are, I name these two actors. They are so humble even at this stage in their career and I feel privileged to have shared screen space with them. I can’t compare them. It is said that you refused to be a part of Ishiqya sequel? I was not offered the Ishqiya sequel. If you remember the story, my part was over in the first one. I heard that Madhuri Dixit has been offered the role now and I am sure she will do a wonderful job. I am looking forward to seeing her in the role now. You had last worked with Ektaa in Hum Paanch and now Dirty Picture. What changes have you seen in Ekta? Ekta always believes in her conviction and is the driving force behind Balaji films. She has complete faith in her directors and actors and has her own set of written rules. I have a great admiration for her. She was very young when she started as a producer and today she is confident. She was passionate about her work and continues to be so. Beyond all this, she is a great woman too.

You are said to be playing a completely different role in your next film, Kahaani, which is way apart from your role in Dirty Picture. That’s what I love about acting. I am enjoying my work now and it feels great to get up every morning and get ready for work. It’s like living in one zone and coming out of it the next. If anything, I feel sad when the film gets over as you are constantly with the unit for several days together. What has been your family’s reaction to the promos of Dirty Picture? They were a bit surprised with the promos. My mother didn’t recognize me. My sister and brother-in-law who are my worst critics appreciated me. My dad never reacts to promos but when he watched the promos of No One Killed Jessica, he said I reminded him of my college days. How do you think children are going to react to your image in this film? First and foremost, it’s an adult film. I think these days children watch more vulgarity on the internet, than they watch on screen. I feel it is important that every parent should set limitations on what their children should watch and what they shouldn’t. What next? I would like to take a three-month break, after the film’s release. I think I deserve it. It has been a long time since I went on a holiday too. I would love to go trekking and I am looking forward to it. More than anything else I want to enjoy my niece and nephew, Ira and Ruhaan. It’s a different joy having babies in the house. We have been hearing rumours of your marriage? My “Kahaani” is yet to move forward. There are no two ways about the fact that I believe in the institution of marriage and plan to settle down in life but I am in no mad hurry. That will have to wait at least for some time now. By B. Preshit

ENCOUNTER

The Khiladi Kumar is back with yet another entertaining movie this year. The actor looks back on his long innings in the industry and talks about his film Desi Boyz, his career and his life in a no-holdsbarred interview.

“I am a true desi at

heart” Desi Boyz will see you and John teaming up after a gap of six years, after you had last worked together in Garam Masala. How was the experience? It was fun teaming up with John once again after a span of six years. This time it was a different experience working with John. His comic timing has become even better like his muscles. In fact I told him that I learnt something more about comedy from him. Also, John has this great ability of mouthing his dialogue in a soft drawl which gives his comedy a somewhat laidback effect. The only other actor who was good at this was Mr. Bean. Apart from that, let’s not forget that John is the most handsome actor we have in the industry today. He is a great model and star in his own right. The appreciation you have for John apart, we are told that the two of you did not quite get along well on the sets. There were major differences between you apart

from catfights amongst the cast of the film. True? Let me put it frankly. I have not witnessed any cat fights so far nor were there differences between the heroines over a little pink dress, as was reported everywhere. Rivalry does exist between many actors but I have never had any rivalry with my co stars so far. I am very cool and chilled out. You seem to have developed a penchant for doing breezy comedies. Are you a naughty prankster on the sets too? I have always been a fun loving and naughty person. I play a lot of pranks too because I believe that if we have to work for 12 hours on the sets, we should enjoy the time spent with each other lest work becomes monotonous and boring. I don’t deny that there are some serious actors in the industry, whom I have had the pleasure of working with, but there’s nothing wrong about it. Anyway, I have had a great time working with all the VISION ASIA

actors so far. Rishi Kapoor and Anupam Kher are fun to work with too. Rishi-ji is very naughty and I experienced that on the sets of Joker. How do you manage to keep away from arguments or differences with your co-stars? I have a very cool demeanor. I do get affected by negativity but not to a large extent. I have often shielded myself against it and this helps me control my emotions. I don’t take anything seriously. Like it is said in the Bhagwad Gita, don’t get emotionally attached to anyone or anything. Like wise, I make sure I am not dependent on anyone. What is your take on relationships? I believe that one should be honest in one’s relationships. A relationship is like a plant that needs to be nourished under tender care. It takes years to build a relationship but only a single moment to break it. Hence I always

called Desiboyz.com.

Tell us about your character in Desi Boyz. What’s the film all about? I play the character of Jignesh Patel who like all NRI Indians, has changed his name to Jerry Patel. The film is based on a true story about two guys-an Indian and a Pakistani in the U.S..They lose their jobs due to recession and go through a lot of trouble as they are jobless and penniless and have no funds for their family and education. As a last bid to earn a living, they turn into male escorts to run their house. The title Desi Boyz has to do the fact that we are working for a company-

Have you ever experienced being a male escort apart from doing odd jobs in life? I have never done anything like that. But yes I have been a chef, a travel agent and I have also sold artificial jewellery for some time before turning into an actor. How was it playing a male escort? More than male escorts, the two protagonists are simple mamma’s boys, who stick to their roots in an alien country. The male escort part is there for just fifteen minutes in the film. I have tweeted about the character VISION ASIA

22

d e c e m b e r 2 0 11

earlier. More than a story of male escorts, it’s an emotionally sensitive and happy-golucky film. It is a chilled out fun film but at the same time sensitive. This is your first film with Chitrangada. How was the experience? Chitrangada is a dusky beauty and a highly talented actress. She reminded me a lot of yesteryears actress Smita Patil. She has already proved her credentials by winning a National Award. She is also very desi at heart. When we went to promote the film all over India she was a bit skeptical since it was her first commercial venture. While Deepika

walked confidently in front of the crowd, Chitrangada froze. We had to catch her hand and pull her through as she had never experienced such crowds before. The title of the film is Desi Boyz. How close are you to your roots? I have always been a true Desi at heart, especially where my living and food is concerned. I believe in living with my parents and obeying my elders. I eat simple Indian food. I always speak Hindi as I am comfortable with the language. In this industry most of the heroines pretend to have a problem with their Hindi accent. What’s your take on it? I don’t think any of the heroines are pretentious. May be they are not comfortable with the language. Katrina Kaif who has made India her home, has taken a lot of pains to master the language. I salute her as she has made it to the top despite being a non- Indian. How different was it working with Rohit Dhawan and how different is his working style from his father? Rohit works according to the rule book where as David doesn’t. There’s a lot of difference in their working styles. David makes the artistes rehearse their scenes and then adjusts the camera to their comfort whereas Rohit has his set ready and asks you to do exactly as he wants to. He had great artists like Anupam Kher, Sanjay Dutt, Chitrangada, Deepika, John Abraham and me on the sets, but he would never flinch or become nervous, while asking us to perform the scene as he

wanted us to do. Rohit is also very serious and edits his scenes inside closed doors but he has an amazing confidence. I have known him since his childhood days when he used to visit the sets of Mr.& Mrs. Khiladi. He was equally intelligent and confident at that time too. Later we wanted to do a film called Come On Pappu with a chimpanzee but it did not materialize and that was replaced with John in this film. Anyway, Rohit has made a breezy comedy, that will be loved by all. What is it about comedies that you find appealing? Do they help you in maintaining your cool demeanor? I wanted to do comedy all along and when I eventually started doing them, I enjoyed the experience. My fans liked them too and felt that I was good in comedy. But now I am raring to go back to action. I have signed two hard core action films, Rowdy Rathore and Once Upon A Time. What made you abstain from doing action oriented roles in the intervening period? One of the reasons I did not attempt action was the fact that my son was small and I didn’t want to take any risks. Now he is 10 years old and I believe I should take up action because it is the right time. In another 5-10 years, I may not be able to do action as smoothly as I can now. I want to play the last innings now. In fact, I am also looking forward to doing a negative role now. The last time I did it one was in Ajnabee in 2001. Don’t you think doing a negative role at this stage of your career will affect your VISION ASIA

23

d e c e m b e r 2 0 11

female fan following? I don’t think so. John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan have done negative roles in the Dhoom series and their female fan following has tripled after that. If that were to happen, actors would never do negative roles. Actor Ranjeet did a lot of negative roles and he’s such a good man. In fact he’s a complete vegetarian. What next? Are you playing a cameo in Khiladi 786 which is your home production? I don’t know how these rumours originated. A tabloid had even reported that I would be playing a cameo and charging Rs 20 crores for my own home-production, which is absolutely ridiculous. Let me clarify that I am playing a full fledged role in Khiladi 786. It’s my home production hence there is no question of the price and money. I am playing the title role and it’s an action-comedy. It’s been twelve years since I heard the script and I liked the role so I decided to make this film. You have had a 21-year long innings in the industry. How do you look back on your life now? What have been your highs and lows? The industry has definitely undergone a sea change from the time I first made my debut as an actor. I have seen a number of highs and lows in my career ever since but I have not been affected by the lows, nor do I have any regrets. Personally too, I haven’t changed much though I have come of age and have become a responsible husband and a father now. I have a family too look after. All said and done, I am happy and contented the way about my life. By B. Preshit (Re-written by Manishaa R)

First thing every morning have two tablespoons of lemon juice in eight ounces of hot or even tepid water. If you need to sweeten it, use an artificial sweetener. Citrus is a natural diuretic, and helps one from retaining fluids.

to conserve energy. The body then decides to preserve the food by storing it as fat which is why people who regularly diet by cutting out meals, have higher percentages of body fat than non-dieters do. Try a regime of little and often, but make sure it is healthy food.

Calculate Your Fat Grams. Fat is 9 calories per gram. Multiply the amount of grams 9 times, look at the total amount of calories and take the larger number and divide it into the smaller number. For instance 2 percent milk is equivalent to 120 calories and 5 grams, which is 5x 9 =45, 120 divided into 45 = nearly 38 percent fat.

This is not amusing but every time you lose five pounds, treat yourself with a haircut, manicure, a new pair of shoes or something that you don't often do. Every body likes a pat on the back. Instead of splurging on hamburgers, put the money you would have spent into a jar and watch it mount up.

The first thing to address is diet. Have lots of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Remember, garbage in garbage out. Never starve yourself. If you deprive yourself of food, the body reacts protectively against a perceived famine. Your resting metabolic rate and the calories you burn to keep your body going, drop to a lower level

Never let disappointment bog you down. We all can have a bad day where we eat the wrong type of food or skip going to the gym. Don't allow this to set a pattern. Just think of it as a one-day holiday and firmly resolve to get back on track the next day. Never squander your daily calories on useless liquids. Avoid aerated water. If you need fluids, drink water because fruit juices

and sodas contain sugar which will trigger the production of insulin that will make you feel hungry. Even diet sodas contain extra calories and artificial sweeteners. Stick to water, at least 8 glasses per day as it re-hydrates, helps to flush out toxins and assists the passage of high fiber foods. Milk is a good provider of calcium and vitamin D. If you take it in moderation then try to find organic whole milk that is not homogenized. If you like to drink several glasses of milk then go for skimmed milk, which certainly contains less fat and calories. Eat plenty of vegetables through the day. While preparing vegetables, sautĂŠ them in a little water and your favorite seasonings. Never use butter. Cook veggies in a pan with non-stick spray and some water. Season it with spices, herbs and lemon juice. Serve over pasta or perhaps a baked potato. The most important tip for retaining your stamina through the day and keeping your

Also make sure that you never keep a gap longer than three hours between two meals. Try low-fat snacks during the day, carrot sticks and celery are ideal. Try to chew every bite 30 times. Chewing releases enzymes that help to break down the food. . Keep temptation at bay by eating before the hunger pangs. Try to opt for foods with high fiber content. These will fill you up without calories, help the body to absorb less fat and are good for the digestion system. When you start craving for ice cream, don't eat vegetables. Have a small portion of ice cream to curb your craving because if you don't, you may over-compensate in other ways and end up eating extra calories. “Exercise is King. Sources reveal that Hrithik’s statute has emerged as the ten most kissed statues in the museum and has made it to the top ten., even beating Shah Rukh Khan, who was on the top of the list so far. Hiten Tejwani steps in as Manav in Pavitra Rishta ctor Hiten Tejwani is really kicked about being selected to play the role of the older Manav in Pavitra Rishta, as the storyline of the serial scurries forward a few years. “I am fully aware of the responsibility that comes along with playing a character already essayed successfully by another actor. It will be my endeavour to merge seamlessly into the character of Manav. Above all, I wish to thank Ekta once again for letting me be a part of Pavitra Rishta. It’s an iconic show that has won millions of hearts by beautifully showcasing the struggle of the Indian middle-class,” Hiten recently revealed It may be recalled that it was a tough decision for Zee to take a call on who would essay the very powerful role, considering that Manav had emerged as a role model for the middle-class man over two years of the show’s glorious run. Among the actors in the running were Mrunal Jain, Sharad Kelkar, Aamir Dalvi, Yash Tonk and Hiten Tejwani. Hiten had a tough competition in Mrunal, who was a very strong contender till the very end. However the latter did not inspire confidence during a mock-shoot with co-star Ankita Lokhande.

NUMEROSCOPE

Apart from the constellation of stars that influence our destiny, a person’s birth number speaks volumes about his or her future. According to famed numerologist, Niraj Mancchanda, there are nine numbers that govern our lives. Niraj gives his predictions for the month of December.

If you are born on the 1st, 10th, 19th or 28th of any month, you are a number 1 person ruled by the planet Sun: This month will see an unexpected turn of events at your end. Your relationship graph will keep changing both at work and in your personal life. You may be a victim of inner turmoil. Try and be patient so that you do not experience mixed emotions. On the plus side, it’s a good time to throw a party for your superiors. Misunderstandings that seemed to bother you before will clear out. If you are born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th or 29th of any month, you are a number 2 person ruled by the planet Moon: A positive phase ahead. The period of confusion, inability to focus on mundane tasks, miscommunication, are things of the past. However, you must try to be more co-operative with your superiors and avoid getting into sticky situations. You will be full of dynamism. You will also be drawn magnetically towards the opposite sex, with your love life being both harmonious and satisfying. If you are born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st or 30th of any month, you are a number 3 person ruled by the planet Jupiter: You will be happy and carefree and filled with a sense of relaxation. On the romantic front, it is important to take out time for those you love. It would also be wise for couples to loosen their grip on the purse strings; a lack of generosity can be interpreted as a lack of affection. Financially, don’t over-extend your generosity lest people take you for granted. If you are born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd or 31st of any month, you are a number 4 person ruled by planet Uranus: Your desire to do something constructive will materialize and interactions with peers at work will yield very good results. You will be full of optimism and vitality. Do not feel bogged down by minor disappointments in the pursuit of your goals. If you are born on the 5th, 14th or 23rd of any month, you are a number 5 person ruled by the planet Mercury: Your vitality and courage are strong now, which will enable you to meet challenges. This will also help you to accomplish a great deal of work, especially if it involves physical effort. Do not feel guilty if you find yourself preoccupied with concerns about your own future.

VISION ASIA

42

They are by no means selfish thoughts. It may also happen that you may find yourself out of focus. It may relate to a certain issue in your mind that you are unable to resolve. If you are born on the 6th, 15th or 24th of any month, you are a number 6 person ruled by the planet Venus: Your drive for personal power, achievement and control over your life will be very strong at this time. You will find the tyrant in you emerging and also be excessively willful. New proposals will come your way. It is a good time for you with things happening as per your wishes. This can be an exciting time on the work front too, if you are bold, speak up and present your ideas with confidence. If you are born on the 7th, 16th or 25th of any month, you are a number 7 person ruled by the planet Neptune: This period is not particularly favourable for you. You may feel low but don’t let this bog down your spirit of enjoyment. If you feel disappointed by a cancelled plan, make the most of whatever you can still accomplish. When Riteish turned auto rickshaw driver e has driven the audiences crazy in some of his comedy roles but Riteish Deshmukh, literally took a man for a ride, when he posed as a rickshaw driver and dropped a passenger at his destination. Reportedly Riteish was required to ride a rickshaw for a certain sequence on the sets of Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. Just to get a hang of it, Riteish decided to venture further away from the sets in disguise. He had barely gone ahead a few yards when a passenger boarded his rickshaw and asked him to rush to a certain destination. Riteish decided to play along and dropped him. When the man was about to pay his fare, Riteish refused to take it. It was then that the passenger realized that it was none other than Riteish Deshmukh at the driver’s seat. The unit members were

of course amused and joked about it all day. In fact, Riteish’s co-star and good friend, Genelia D’Souza even insisted that he take her for a ride in the rickshaw and Riteish was more than happy to oblige.

Abhishek bonds

big time with

Ajay Devgn

ho says there are no friends in this competitive industry? Take the case of Abhishek Bachchan, who has been lately bonding with a new friend on the sets of Bol Bachchan. Believe it or not, the friend is none other than Ajay Devgn, who is otherwise known to be shy and introvert, when it comes to interacting with his co-stars and friends. This is the second time the two are working together after they last worked together in Zameen. According to unit sources, the two caught up with each other and have become thick friends ever since. We are told that Ajay Devgan also shared some fitness tips with Abhishek, after which the latter has been following a rigorous fitness schedule. Recently, when we caught up with Abhishek, he told us how he enjoyed shooting with Ajay and the fun time they had on the sets. He also revealed how the latter was helping him with his fitness. “He’s been in touch all along. Recently Ajay was in Dubai on a family vacation but he made it a point to call me every day and ask me if I was visiting the gym regularly,” Abhishek laughed. Abhishek sure needs to thank Ajay for his valuable fitness tips.

n the first season of her celebrity chat show, Up, Close and Personal with PZ, Preity Zinta managed to get quite a few candid confessions from stars, whether it was Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor among others. Now the vivacious actress is gearing up for the second season of the show, in which she plans to feature more stars, with a more promising format. Preity recently confirmed this on Twitter, inviting suggestions from her fans about whom they would like to see on the show. It may be recalled that Shah Rukh Khan, whose company Red Chillies Entertainment, has produced the show, had last stated that Preity had the penchant for making most stars comfortable, apart from the fact that she could be a great bodyguard when female fans got close to stars. Also Preity Zinta's international look in the show was appreciated very well, with her designer, Surily Goel, sourcing her costumes from some of the best known international houses. Preity certainly has her hands full as far as her film and television assignments go. Apart from the new season of Up, Close and Personal with PZ that she has started preparing for, Preity is also said to be busy working on her home production, besides a forthcoming film in which she will be seen doing some hi-octave action. Also, the actress will be honoured at the Venice Film Festival for bringing cultural harmony through her work. Preity will be awarded the 'World Diamond Group Platinum Award for Peoples' Friendship' at the Kineo 'Diamanti al Cinema' event at the 68th Venice Film Festival.
