he idea of sleep seemed farfetched as I sat in my bed with my back against the wall and laptop on my legs. It was about 2 am and I had to be awake by 4:30 to make my flight on time. I recently began the practice of consciously manifesting my reality and had begun to sample my first taste of the infinite cosmic jackpot that was available. The rule was simple; all problems I encountered were “blessings in disguise” and the trick was to strip the disguise off of the blessing before the disguise fooled me. What’s cool is: as I continued to practice, the blessings were not only being stripped of their disguises faster and faster, but were appearing naked more and more. Blessings are extra hot when they’re naked. For several years I’d had the intention to visit somewhere in Central or South America for December 21st 2012. It didn’t matter where exactly, as long as it was near an Aztec/Mayan pyramid. I knew for some reason that I was supposed to be there, and up until the second time my travel plans fell apart, I had what many would call an unrealistic confidence that a path would be magically cleared for me. Ironically it wasn’t until 2 hours after I made peace with the idea that I wasn’t going that this manifestation crystalized. After an uncanny series of twilight zone synchronicities, (just a week before the winter solstice) I had managed to get myself a free ticket to Synthesis 2012 festival, free round trip plane tickets, and enough camping gear to survive outside for a week in Mexico. All this came to me from separate sources, on the same day in a five-hour time frame. I was either meant to be there or I somehow freed a genie somewhere.

I shut my alarm off before it could ring and was through security at the airport over an hour before my flight left. I didn’t mind being there early: it gave me time to read up more on the 2012 phenomenon. I was flying from San Diego to Phoenix and from Phoenix to Cancun. I wanted to absorb any useful info that I could about the conversion while I was in the air. On the flight into Phoenix I sat next to a man named Jorge, who was so enthusiastic with his conversation it took all my focus off

the book. I was reluctant to give in to the conversation at first but so far the blessing game hadn’t failed me, so I decided to roll with it. He described his childhood growing up poor in Mexico; how he shared a bed with his three brothers and how they couldn’t afford toys so they played with rocks. He also remembered going to sleep hungry most nights. He talked about how much he used to like drinking fresh coconuts from vendors on the street and suggested that I try one with “meat in”. It was interesting hearing Jorge describe his impoverished childhood because I didn’t sense even a granule of self pity in him. He talked about wanting to be a counselor, and his philosophy of how the nature of any circumstance can be alchemized with a simple change in perspective. I related to him with my recent experiences of conscious manifestation, all of which were born from keeping a positive perspective. As the plane started to descend, I asked him again how to pronounce “meat in” in Spanish. “You’re really gonna have one for me?” he said. “Yeah man I’ll have one for you.

Actually, you know what how about this, I promise I will have a coconut for you if you promise to take a serious look into becoming a counselor,” I said. He stopped and thought about it and I saw his eyes light up, “you know what, yeah that would be really good, later I could think about you drinking that coconut and…” he trailed off and I saw him imagine me in Mexico drinking a coconut like he was remembering the good old days. “Deal,” he said, and we shook on it. As we were parting ways in Phoenix he said to me, “this was supposed to happen, we were supposed to meet on this plane weren’t we?” “I’m sure of it,” I responded.

Synthesis was being held on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula about 50 miles inland south of the Caribbean coastline in Piste Pueblo, next to the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. After landing in Cancun the red carpet continued to roll out for me -there turned out to be quite a wait for the next pubWHO’S AFRAID lic bus going towards my destination and at first I was looking at another 5-6 hours travel time minimum. Local Mayan Elders and event producers from Mexico were involved with the Synthesis team in orchestrating the festival. Indigenous wisdom keepers around the world had a “sacred mission” which was given the highest priority during the event. This “Sacred Mission” is a movement into a new age of peace and enlightenment in which the wisdom of the indigenous is made available to the rest of the world so that we may be in harmony with mother earth and live in tune with the planet once again.

healing rituals with topics ranging from crystals and shamanism to technology to astrology and interplanetary phenomenon.

Throughout the week there were many unexpected wrenches that were thrown in the gears of the festival: there were not enough rooms at the hotel to accommodate all those who were promised them and people were forced to camp outside and bunk up, some even 6-7 in a room. There were transportation issues to and from the airport, as well as up and down the 9km stretch separating the hotel area from the camp grounds/pyramid stage. Many full experience pass holders that were promised free tickets into the ruins failed to locate the person handing out free tickets and ended up having to buy their own way in. To top it off someone in the police department was attempting to extort the festival for half of the proceeds! Before the trip I heard the Mexican government was not going to allow ceremonies on sacred lands during the solstice, I wasn’t sure how deep the political issues ran, but it seemed as if the staff was taking a positive approach. I noticed they started their meetings with meditations and ohming to clear the energy before addressing these various issues. Everybody had been affected in one way or another by the challenges that were presented that week, and for the most part peoples experiences seemed to follow one of two themes, either disappointment or serendipity.

After dark I arrived at the Piramide hotel where many of the performers, media and speakers were staying. The hotel was on an ancient sacred Mayan burial ground and had a jungle village area out back where those without a room were pitching their tents. I found shelter under a bamboo cabana next to many of the other campers. There is a stillness of the energy there that is unique unto itself. An orchestra of birds and crickets were layered with sounds of the breeze fluttering through collages of leaves and branches. You don’t realize just how abrasive all the electromagnetic frequencies are in populated areas until you get a genuine taste of an electromagnetically quiet zone. It’s like a static I was unaware of had suddenly been muted to reveal a quietness that was so natural it somehow felt nostalgically familiar. The town locals had a strong family vibe and greeted me with a welcoming energy. Their enthusiasm for helping me communicate seemed free of any in genuine etiquette or judgment and the hospitable atmosphere there quelled any image of hostility that I had prepared to possibly encounter while in Mexico.

The speeches given during the orientation on the afternoon of the 20th were divinely inspiring and for most of it I had tears in my eyes. The orientation acquainted people with various techniques for interpreting the shift effectively and gave special attention to the significance of our energetic influence: everything we did, said and thought was magnified exponentially and would echo through the universe setting the tone for the future of the planet. Dr Joe Marshala gave an analogy about this - he said if you were to drop 4 rocks into a pond around the edges and follow their ripples as they traveled to the center, we were at the point where the ripples meet and intersect. As the energy culminates in the center we were responsible for shaping it into new waveforms as they are redirected back out to the edge of the pond. Many Wisdom keepers such as Chief Yagbe, Nyame Selassie, Wanique Shabazz, Ac Tah, Maestro Mazatzin, and Dr Raja Dove also shared their interpretations of the occasion.

The way I see it, our thoughts and emotions create geometric signatures that vibrate physical matter into forms and circumstances that match those signatures. As many who were informed about the importance of this occasion knew we were in the most energetically influential part of the world at the most energetically influential time in history. Wanique Shabazz noted that some would have karmic debt to pay and experience more troubles during the transition, while others would transition more smoothly. What was most important was keeping our thoughts and emotions positive while we remained in a peaceful state of inner balance. It was like my philosophy was being echoed back to me!

After the orientation it was announced that the Pleiades aligned with Earth at midnight and there was a fire ceremony being held in the far campgrounds to ground the Pleiadian energy into

our planet. I walked back to my camp charged up and blissed out. Armed with an arsenal of positive vibes, I was ready to transmute any poor unsuspecting negative energy that crossed my path. It was a good thing I had just been positively inspired because it wasn’t long before the karmic debt collector started kicking peoples’ doors down. The front of the hotel was mobbed with disgruntled ticketholders, spiraling into an energetic hysteria. As a result of refusing to pay the extortion request, police were threatening to kick everyone out of the campgrounds and had stopped letting people in to set up camp. Staff was understandably stressed, as they had to explain this to angry and panicked guests. Many travelers already had problems with transportation getting into town, and finding out they may not have a place to camp was like the vegan icing on the gluten free cupcake.

The fear of political interference had manifested into form, as so many people had anticipated it might. One guy I talked to earlier that day walked up to me with a nervous, neurotic disposition.

He ran his fingers through his hair and rubbed the back of his neck... “its happening, the government is shutting us down” he said and walked away in a panic. I noticed myself begin to drift with the tide, as the energy was really turning bad. I looked around and saw Chief Yagbe standing with a group of smiling people, all chanting and laughing in a circle. This was perfect inspiration for me to shake all negativity. When faced with a seemingly valid reason to panic its easy to lose your cool. Ironically the hardest time not to panic is also the most important time not to panic. There was a huge amount of energy we were dealing with here, and not only was it just an hour before the day that many people on earth were anticipating catastrophe, but we were at the epicenter of where that catastrophic event was most likely to manifest. Manifestation time was short and we were at a critical crossroad, so how we handled this would not only affect our present situation, but the future of the world at large. I focused on holding space, transforming all stress into love, as I noticed the wisdom keepers doing the same. Things got even more chaotic when staff got orders to put the hotel on lockdown, in case the police decided to come raid it.

Many of us were now bound to the grounds of the hotel. I approached Josh, a presenter from San Francisco, who was there to do a workshop on crystals and ascension - “this is so exciting,” I said “we’re right on the cusp of the new age, everyone’s collective energy is manifesting this, and people are getting all their fears out before we change directions!”

“That’s right this is not a problem, it’s an opportunity!” he agreed. We decided to split up and walk around inserting our optimism into all the stressed out conversations that we encountered. At one point I was at the pool when a lady had such an intense channeling session that she fell in, convulsing and speaking in tongues. I remember thinking to myself “this is crazy” while I continued to focus on holding positive space. I noticed a group

MANIFESTING THE NEW WORLD of people pointing to the sky; a blue/green light was flying around erratically. They were ruling out different identifiable possibilities as we watched this light zip around and disappear behind the trees. Strangely, within a couple minutes of midnight a wave of relaxation spilled over the scene. It was like we shifted dimensions or something; one-minute things were all panicked with people hysterical everywhere; the next minute everyone was just hanging out looking at the stars. Not long after the energy shift, word made it back that things were now under control. The police were no longer going to kick anyone out; they still weren’t letting any more people into the campgrounds that night, but the raid scare was over.

I stayed by the pool that night listening to Tricia Mcannon talk. She told stories about the origins of the human kind, as well as the interplanetary history of the universe. Right before I was about to retire for the night a guy walked up with a tripod and camera; he looked pale with a puzzled look on his face. I couldn’t make out what his media pass read, but judging by his camera, this wasn’t the first event that he had covered. He approached another man nearby that must have been his colleague, “I don’t know how to explain this one” he said, “what do you mean” his colleague said, “I don’t know… I cant explain what I got” he said, to which his colleague replied “well we don’t need to explain anything all we need to do is show it”. As they walked away together I figured he must have caught that UFO on film; from his reaction I had a feeling that more happened down at the other camp than I was aware of. The next day I came to find out that not only was I right, but what did happen was crazier than I could have ever anticipated.

At 5:11 AM on the 21st (the moment of the winter solstice) we gathered in front of the hotel for a candle lighting ceremony, and then walked in silence to the Pyramid. So many full experience pass holders hadn’t claimed their free tickets into the ruins that I was given a free $70 entry ticket! Upon entry I was told that we were not allowed to sing or chant too loud, or have any burning rituals, unless we had a permit. Of course that didn’t stop us from doing it anyway; nothing was going to keep us from concentrating our energies together for this occasion. A few people from the group had even hopped the fence before the ruins opened, to hold a ceremony at exactly 5:11 AM. The ceremony lasted until almost 5:30 before they were escorted off the premises! The Pyramid of Kulkulcan was practically humming when I approached it. The energy from the center of the universe was channeling back through it intensely and it was almost intoxicating to be near. The ruins were filled with people from all different walks of life - spiritual seekers, wisdom keepers, Mayan elders, tourists getting tours and locals selling merchandise, even law enforcement was there to regulate non-permitted ceremonies. Miraculously, Fantuzzi, a spiritual musician, was able to lead one particular ceremony with burning offerings and loud chanting for nearly 2 hours before being asked to quiet down. Spirit was definitely looking out for us during that one.

Ac Tah and his people were doing geometric movements that collect energy for the relocation of an energetic planetary grid point; I helped throughout the day as the energy was moved to another sacred site near the Hacienda hotel. At one point there were two entire circles of people holding hands all the way around the pyramid of Kulkulcan in the name of world peace. We laughed and sang and played as if we had achieved world peace, and as far as we were concerned we really had. I have no doubt that we succeeded in blessing the future of the planet with positive intentions. I truly felt like I was in a different world that day, a world that is now a shining light at the end of the tunnel we are traveling thru.

In between dances, ceremonies, and channelings, I interviewed nearly a dozen people about their experiences the night before, in order to unveil the rest of the story.

Just before midnight, due to refusal to pay the bribe, the police had begun storming the party to shut it down. Despite the police interference, the ceremony for the Pleiadian alignment was still preformed. Everyone I spoke to saw the UFO, and more than half not only saw what I saw, but claimed that right around midnight the UFO split into 4 different directions. ßConcurrently, right around midnight, the police miraculously had a sudden change of heart! The officer in command had been ordered to raid the party, and kick all the occupants out of the campgrounds, but before he could follow through with it something inside him changed. He wouldn’t do it! He actually called over his boss’s head to stop the raid, claiming that these were good people and his conscience wouldn’t permit it.

Police officers had a change of heart during a raid?! Now if that’s not eerie enough I also came to find out that the camera man from the night before, who happened to be filming the UFO when it split directions, had simultaneously captured what looked like morphing geometric holograms, dancing around a prayer circle, less that 50 yards from where the police were located! So right as earth aligned with the Pleiades, during a ceremony to ground the Pleiadian energy, there was an unexplainable UFO phenomenon and massive energy shift; an energy shift in which once crooked police had a moment of clarity! Now I can’t prove that this UFO was directly responsible for the energy shift and change of heart, but I have to say that it seemed pretty likely we had some help from our friends. If I can get clearance to use the footage, I will be putting it up the Vision Magazine website soon, If not I will put up a link to it.

The magic continued to unfold throughout the duration of the festival; I would need write a book in order to fully translate how shockingly serendipitous it all was.

The locals are used to getting ripped off by American organized events, and they usually keep their distance, but they were so flattered by our welcoming vibe that they not only asked to attend our party, but the mayor even invited us to their gathering and provided shuttles to and from their town square celebration. A local Mexican television station came out to film our party, and had so much fun they decided to spend the entire weekend filming us. This was awesome because by airing our gathering on local television: it helped to spread the vibration of international unity. What some experienced as a disorganized scheduling of workshop locations and start times, gifted

FOR THE LOVES OF MIKE © 2013 by Michael Raysses Being raised in a home that was influenced by my Greek lineage, it comes as no surprise that I had more than a passing awareness of the goddess of Love, Aphrodite. So much so that not a Valentine’s Day passes that I don’t think back on some of the most important women in my life. I’m not referring to the obvious biggies here, like my lovely wife, my dear Mom, or every pretty girl who has stood in front of me while standing in line at the bank--I am referring to the I women from whom I’ve learned some of love’s greatest lessons.

My first watershed experience came in the third grade; I had a friend whose stunning seventeen yearold sister Madge had eyes that were so green that they seemed more dangerous to me than the murky waters of our favorite swimming hole. Whenever she walked into the room, I diverted my eyes from hers because I could not bear to dive headlong into them. Thankfully, Madge moved out after she graduated high school and I didn’t have to address my inability to look beauty square in the eye for years to come.

My next foray was much more direct, in an indirect sort of way. It happened when I was introduced to the blissful act of holding hands. Forget that I was in the fourth grade and the only reason Jean Anne held my hand was because we were on a field trip to Brookfield Zoo and we were using the buddy system to make sure no one got lost. There was something about the way she offered her hand to me, and how it relaxed into mine when I took it firmly in my own that profoundly moved me. I was so deeply touched that I totally ignored the fact that she had a small wart on the inside of her index finger, indicating to me that she had direct contact with a pollywog at least, and quite possibly a frog, at worst.

But love is blind, and I clutched her hand close that day, pollywogs be damned.

The next day, however, when I tried to hold her hand again, she recoiled.

She said that the field trip was just a field trip and we were just buddies. For the rest of the year, Jean Anne avoided me when it came to buddy-assignments.

Crushed, I moved on.

By the time fifth grade came I had grown surer of myself, mainly because I had been taking acrobatics from an elderly band of steel who went by the name of Mr. Ernie. He prodded me to the point where I could do a handspring, which was the equivalent of flying to me. Brimming with my accomplishment, I decided to pitch a little woo at a classmate named Susan. She was spirited and reminded me of a colt.

So one day when my feelings reached critical mass, I walked over to her

GREEK TO ME house and on the sidewalk out front, I began doing acrobatics for her. I started with a few cartwheels just to get her to come to the window. When I saw someone stir through the glass, I upped the stakes and did a backbend, traversing the length of her front yard on my hands and feet, bent over backward from the waist.

Hearing the front door cued my grand finale—the handspring— which, up till this point, had only been performed indoors under Mr. Ernie’s iron gaze. As I looked up I saw the sun glint off of Susan’s front door as it swung open—she had come to profess her love for me! A love fueled by my desire to perform for her, to show her what love was capable of inspiring me to do! With great determination I marked my steps and began the sprint that would vault me into the air, spinning head over heels, (how’s that for symbolism?), landing at her dainty feet.

But just as I planted my hands, I saw something on the ground in front of me, and the sharpest of doubts pierced my subconscious. But I was airborne now and my body was all that I knew as my feet whipped over my head. The soles of my feet reached out for the ground, but only one found its mark—the other landed and slid out from under me, leaving me to fall like a clump of dirty laundry.

When I looked up, there was Susan’s mother with a very concerned look on her face. Susan was nowhere to be found. But there was someone I hadn’t reckoned with—Susan’s dog. Unbeknownst to me, I had chosen the dog’s “play area” in which to perform. And what I’d thought I’d seen as I started my handspring is what I’d landed in. I walked home, literally trying to scrape the experience off my shoes and clothes, to no avail.

Mortified by my ill-fated attempt, I never found out if Susan ever knew what I had done, much less what she’d thought of it. Crushed by my crush, I just moved on.

It was only recently when I was taking a mental inventory of what I knew about love that I realized that so much of what I needed to learn, I’d acquired by that time: green-eyed Madge taught me that to truly engage beauty, and thus love, you have to be strong enough to look it straight in the eye. But your eyes aren’t the operative organ—you have to use your heart. From Jean Anne you might think I learned to overlook external flaws, which I intuitively seemed to grasp.

No, she taught me that sometimes a gesture is just that, regardless of how it makes you feel.

But Susan’s lesson is my favorite: that love is capable of launching you into the stratosphere, catapulting you to heights you never would have imagined in its absence. Just understand that in sending you heavenward, there is no continued on page 36

So many people write me about their love problems. I want to invite all of you, dear readers to keep a log this month that documents all the moments in your life throughout the day where you felt the presence of love.

Dear Dr. Toni: I am a fifty- year - old divorced woman. I don’t have any children. I am in great shape physically. I am educated, attractive, fun, and …lonely. I work from home and find it difficult to meet men. I live in a big city where there are many beautiful young women and so, men do not look at me anymore.

What should I do, Dr. Toni? I don’t want to grow old alone.

Feeling Desperate Dear Reader: The first step before you do anything external is to release your beliefs about your age being a detriment. What we believe does become our reality. Imagine a pink bubble of light and then send that belief into it and allow it to be dissolved. Next, fill up your heart with an abundance of love and affection for yourself until you are filled with joy.

Now, imagine yourself in a relationship with someone you feel truly at home with, completely yourself. Imagine that this person loves you and you love him. Let yourself have the feeling of being with someone who feels like your soulmate. Neither of you is afraid of commitment. Both of you are ready to truly be in a relationship.

Now, notice what feelings emerge? Does that scenario scare you? If it does, you have some internal work to do before you are ready to take action. If it doesn’t, then energize this visualization for three weeks without making any big external efforts like joining a dating service, etc.

At the end of three weeks, begin noticing men in the supermarket and smiling. When you’re in the elevator, smile to everyone. Show up AS love everywhere. Fill your tank with love from the environment as well. Buy yourself your favorite flowers. Walk in nature. Make physical contact with people you know by giving them a long hug. Just keep gathering opportunities to feel love and THEN if you haven’t met someone spontaneously, sign up for an internet dating site but don’t stop doing these practices I suggested.

Cupid is everywhere. Let his arrows inoculate you against feeling separate from the world and its love potential.

Dear Dr. Toni: I am a lawyer visiting Los Angeles from another state. I read your column while sitting at a coffee house

and got this impulse to write you. I figured, “what the hell.” I have been handling criminal cases as a lawyer for 30 years. I am so burnt out. My practice is dwindling because my heart just isn’t in it but I don’t know what to do next.

I have started having some health issues. My cholesterol is sky high and so is my blood pressure. The stress of my income dwindling and not knowing what to do next is killing me. Do you have any suggestions, doc?

James Dear James, It is no wonder that your blood pressure and cholesterol are so high. These symptoms may have to do with a blocked heart. You actually said, “your heart isn’t in it anymore.” I would suggest that you stop using words like “killing me”. Your body hears you, believe me.

Secondly, at the end of every day, scan the day and pay attention to what you were doing that gave you energy or that you found yourself interested in.

Thirdly, make a list of every skill you’ve acquired throughout your career. Then a second list of tasks you do in your work that you really enjoy.

And lastly, ask a few people you know professionally to share with you what they see in you that stands out as a talent or skill that could be transferred into another profession.

When I work with my clients on discovering what their next calling is, I take them through those steps. Further, there is one more step. Finding your calling is getting still enough to hear the call. Taking 15 min in the morning to get still and open your mind to receive an answer is the best possible way that allows for synchronicity to show up. For example, you may meet someone at your local coffee house that is doing something that could use your skill set in a new business they are forming. Opening up to miracles involves merely allowing for a change in your perception of how your career could transition easily into a vocation of destiny.

Is There Such A Thing As Safe Areas And Protected Areas? Are They The Same?

by Gabriel of Urantia To answer the questions posed in the title of this article, you have to ask what are you trying to be safe from—weather catastrophes or invading armies or starvation or wild animals or poisonous insects and other creatures.

Often just using good common sense keeps us safe when making decisions concerning certain geographic areas. For instance, if you wanted to be 100% safe from earthquakes, you do not want to live in California. If you want to be 100% safe from tidal waves and tsunamis, you do not want to live close to the oceans. If you want to be safe from tornados, you do not want to live in Kansas. I think you get the picture here.

Unless they were in the Arctic or Antarctic, throughout history people who tried to live in “safe” places could not get away from other people who would want what they had, especially if those others did not have the basic necessities of life or coveted what their neighbors had. Some people think that the top of mountains are safe, but weather conditions in the winter are more challenging (especially in the higher elevations), and it is twice as hard to grow food, given the short growing season and difficulty in finding the proper soil and open fields for gardening.

In relation to weather conditions, there definitely are safer areas in this country and around the world than others. However, with the shifting weather climates and the increase of extreme weather conditions, you really cannot depend upon the stability of the natural elements, unless there is an actual scientific and spiritual way that the elements are working for you. In other words, the elements keep an area from becoming catastrophic because something is dictating to these elements and to the orbits of the particles within the atoms of the elements.

There is an increasing understanding among those who study the laws of physics that energy follows thought. Good-energy thoughts have a cause-and-effect response that creates a positive or forward-moving energy, which affects a lot of elements in both organic and inorganic matter.

Groups of people have gone up to mountain tops only to find out that they cannot get along with each other enough to fight the harsh conditions that exist there. Is it the harsh conditions that defeated them or the harsh ways that they treated each other?

Some have gone to beautiful agricultural areas where water was plentiful, but, because they could not get along with each other, drought overcame the area due to the fact that their spiritual lives were dry.

During the history of this planet, beginning in the Piscean Age (and possibly before), there have always been what appeared to be little paradises on earth, where tribes prospered in their farming and agricultural endeavors and lived lives devoid of much strife and suffering. With industrialization, many of these lands were bought up by the rich landowners and corporate interests—the 1% of history—who drove the people out of farming and turned the farm lands into factories and agri-businesses, spreading toxic chemicals on the crops and mistreating all living things and the environment. Beginning after World War II, prime agricultural land continues to be turned into housing developments and shopping centers. So people have never really been completely safe from the 1% and their police forces or armies.

The safest were people like the Essenes in the first century B.C., who were a spiritual people and went to the mountains and—much like the Hopi—were able to grow food in harsh conditions. But again it was because of their spirituality and their ability to get along with one another and be their brothers’ and sisters’ keeper that they were able to survive. Throughout history other spiritual groups were the safest on the planet, even in monasteries. Now, I am not saying that spiritual groups have been 100% safe, but they have had more protection from evil forces due to certain factors related to spiritual and scientific laws that I mentioned previously.

In more modern times, the Quakers, Amish, Seventh Day Adventists, and Mormons had a grasp of the spiritual aspect of communal living, growing food, and sustainable practices. Other Christian denominations and religions did also, but the more and more secularized they became, the more materialistic they became, falling away from earth harmony principles and depending upon grocery markets (like Safeway), thus losing the true Way. Native Americans believed in the nature spirits, and tribes like the O’Odham (Pima and Papago), who were growers, knew that their spirituality worked in conjunction with the nature spirits to “grow good corn.” The Cherokee and other tribes knew that good thoughts were in relationship to “growing good corn” in all areas of the tribe’s communal life. The more harsh tribes had to raid and take from others to survive, because they could not get along with themselves and were not as spiritual as individuals or as a tribe.

Today in the Aquarian Age, as our planet is moving into a new position in the heavens, these energies are creating higher stability with higher inhabited worlds that have already settled in the first stages of light and life. The earth/Urantia is transitioning to align with energies that promote cooperation and the Fatherhood of God and the brother-/sisterhood of humankind. Ultimately, this planet will come into the first stages of light and life. The earth is presently in the final pre-stage of the dawn of the first stage of light and life—what the book of Revelation (in the New Testament of the Bible) would call the millennial reign of Jesus Christ. Others believe that this is a consciousness of the teachings of Christ and the fulfillment of those teachings.

Many religions teach of a coming “Promised One”. The Moslems call him Imam Mahdi. Hindu/Buddhist sects refer to Maitreya (The World Teacher). Hindus look for the coming of Kalki Avatar. The Tibetans call him Jampa, while the Jewish faith looks for the Messiah.

Whether or not you believe in a god or a divine being coming to the earth to bring peace and justice has no correlation to the truth of what is happening in the heavens, and with the weather changes on the earth, something definitely is changing. It does seem that people are either becoming more loving and kind or more hateful and greedy. The forces of good and evil seem to be more defining themselves and easier to recognize in others.

As these forces of the quantity of good or evil conglomerate in a particular geographic area, these areas become more in earth harmony or distorted and dysfunctional (see The Cosmic Family, Volume I, Paper 215 ). This is why more and more people are trying to get out of the cities, and even the suburbs today are not quite what they used to be 20 or 30 years ago. You have to keep on going further and further away from the inner cities and the hopelessness and greed and evil that inhabits every element in those locations.

Since the early 1990s, I have been advising people to leave the cities, join communities of spirituality-minded people near a good water source, grow food, and (if possible) start an EcoVillage and live more sustainably. It cannot happen all at once, but you have to take the first steps with a group of people. And the most important thing is you have to choose a leader and leaders—a leader to be the head administrator over everything—the person who makes the final decision when one is needed—and leaders to supervise over other functions. Consensus with even a small group cannot work consistently. Even between two people, like in a marriage, the male has the responsibility of being a leader, of making a final decision when it is needed, when a consensus cannot be reached. That is what a balanced male is supposed to do. With consensus (where all must agree before a decision is made), very little gets done when all do not agree, and there is no growth in the physical plant of the community or EcoVillage.

So even if you do not believe in a divine being or God as a personality—although obviously you must have figured out I do—if you have anywhere near a scientific mind (and to me a real scientific mind sees that there obviously is a Great Scientist behind the master universe who controls it all), you have to believe at least in the fact that there are absolute physical laws. Being aware of and using these physical laws are how scientists make technological and medical advances. Whether a Divine Mind is behind the physical laws or not, there is cause and effect from good/right or bad/wrong thinking, karma resulting from cooperation or competiveness.

Many people want to go to heaven but want to live like hell on earth and cause hell on earth for others. As a matter of fact, Earth is hell for many due to evil people who are unhappy, miserable, discontent, jealous, resentful, and a myriad of other distorted values in their own lives. They cannot stand to see others live somewhat happy and in peaceful tranquility, so they have to make everyone else’s life hell too.

And so if you have 10 people in your beginning community and one of them fits the description directly above, you should ask that person to leave if he does not change quickly. Do not allow people like that into your community, no matter how much money or talents they have to offer, because their thoughts will dictate negativity to the elements and cause division among the people and decrease the protection of the community.

The more spirituality-minded, good (or if I may, godly) people you have in your community, the radius of your protection is extended from one to five to ten to fifty to a hundred acres or more. Again, the principle here is if you have a bad apple get rid of it or the others will rot too, and the whole place will start to smell and rot away.

Native Americans and the indigenous knew this principle. The traditional rain dance was danced by the best souls of the tribe. They have a saying called Wit A Kal (spelling mine) that means “the eating of the soul.” They would not let people with Wit A Kal dance the rain dance. So yes, purity does speak to the elements. Good thoughts can enhance rain clouds, and bad thoughts can intensify tornadoes and hurricanes.

Today hurricanes and tornadoes are becoming worse not only because of so-called natural causes but also because evil in the minds of people is becoming magnified. People are becoming more greedy, selfish, and (forgive me) godless. In the book of Genesis (in the Old Testament of the Bible) there is a story of Sodom and Gomorrah, where the angels say to Lot, if you can find more than two good people, we will spare the city from its own destruction. In this story, in these two cites of tens of thousands of people, only Lot and his wife were allowed to come out, and the cities were destroyed not by the angels but by the negative thoughts and immorality of the people’s energies.

God does not destroy anything. God creates everything beautiful, but often His freewill creatures throughout time and space cause destruction by their choices to go against the laws of God, the principles of God, the statutes or ordinances of God. All of these procedures are given by the Creator to create civilization as opposed to barbarism.

In a previous article I wrote about the adjudication of the Bright and Morning Star versus Lucifer and its beginning in 1911 and the upstepping of that adjudication in 1989.

As our planet comes more into the Aquarian energies of cooperation, those who do not

begin to cooperate with each other will increasingly become more mentally unstable and physically diseased and die younger, their bodies deteriorating more quickly.

Meanwhile, those who do begin to make the shift and become more loving and cooperative will become more youthful and actualized and find that something is leading and guiding them into a happier life where they are beginning to realize they have a unique destiny to fulfill. Particularly the older souls will discover they are older souls, and they have an even more qualified destiny to meet. They are called Destiny Reservists.

If you can manifest a group of 100 Destiny Reservists together to form your EcoVillage, you will begin to live in everyday serendipities beyond even your own imagination.

This is how life will be in the first stage of light and life all over the earth, but for now it can be that way in certain locations containing some level of auhter energy. The Cosmic Family, Volume I has the following description.

Lauhter energy The higher force-energy synergetic field resultant from cosmic nuclear fusion created by the joining or rejoining of spiritual cosmic families or groups based upon the personality bestowal of the Universal Father and each individual’s acquiescence to his or her personality, and the group consciousness in relation to Celestial Overcontrol. This auhter energy creates a measurable light that is visible light-years away.

Men and women who have learned the principle that I am teaching here, throughout history have accomplished great and wonderful things for humanity because they have been surrounded by other like-minded people and often incarnated cosmic family members. They have started renaissances. However, they have usually had to suffer the accusations and misrepresentations of other smaller-minded people who do not understand the principles of manifestation in the light. These evil others have had to manipulate and hurt others to acquire what they have (if they have acquired anything at all), and so they do not understand the principle of serving others unselfishly within God’s laws, which then brings further blessings—material and spiritual—so that you can help and serve others even more.

Quite simply, there are the givers and there are the takers. The takers can look very good on the outside, because they learn to present themselves to the public in civility, but it is not true spirituality. It is not true love. The cause-and-effect dynamics in God’s continued on page 35

Song of the Spider’s Web

by Jill Mattson It is cliché that mathematics is the language of Science; recent discoveries reveal that in a related and perhaps even more fundamental way, Music may truly be the language of Nature.

Just as my dog whines and tries to stop me when I play discordant music on my piano - new findings show that we may be biologically “hardwired” in our response to aesthetically pleasing or displeasing music. Evidence suggests that music may be encoded in the smallest protein molecules comprising living things. Recent experiments from MIT report efforts to represent manmade silk fibers as musical compositions - using the underlying proteins in the synthetic silk as “notes”. The researchers found remarkable similarities between the physical properties of the silk and the aesthetic sound and feel of its associated music. In other words silk with good physical properties produced pleasing music!

Sound Healing investigators and certain students of antiquity, have believed for some time, that Sound in general and Music in particular, hold great potential for revealing deeper understanding of the universe around us. Furthermore, the informed application of precise energy - in the form of sound frequencies - can benefit us on many levels: emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually.

The MIT research team attacked their work (to synthesize silk fibers in the lab), with the novel approach of replicating building-block protein molecules. The large multidisciplinary team, including engineers, biomedical experts, mathematicians and musical composers, formulated synthetic silk in a systematic manner - as a model for future synthetic material design work. They began by building a computer model of natural silk and then identified the underlying bio-materials responsible for the unique light weight, subtleness and extraordinary strength of spider silk.

These researchers modified silk producing genes and created a device to copy the spider’s silk spinning organ. After extensive work, they produced a variety of synthetic silk strands. Two of the experimental “silks” stand out: one of the new protein combinations yielded extremely strong silk molecules - but the catch was, these proteins did not adhere to each other as a thread - useless. The second material contained weaker protein molecules that adhered together strongly and made an excellent thread - what natural silk proteins do - success. It was not enough to produce strong proteins alone - they must interconnect properly and form a coherent strand on a large scale; there must be an cohesive architecture properly aligning and connecting the components (like a musical composition).

After these initial results, the team went back to the lab to produce new silk materials.

One of the new analytical tools that they employed in the development of superior silk was Music! Greatly simplifying the details... the various levels of the silk’s structure (the proteins, their relationships, and underlying structures) were translated into musical compositions. The end result: the strong silk proteins that would not form usable threads produced music that was harsh and displeasing. The proteins that formed usable fibers played as soft fluid pleasing music. The fact that the above process (based on the silk proteins) resulted in anything even remotely resembling music is remarkable; the fact that pleasing music was produced from “good” silk and harsh music resulted from “bad” silk is near miraculous.

One of the researchers, Markus Buehler of MIT said, “There might be an underlying structural expression in music that tells us more about the proteins that make up our bodies. After all, our organs - including the brain - are made from these building blocks, and humans’ expression of music may inadvertently include more information than we are aware of.” Music may soon tell us much more about our biology and reveal new insight into our humanity. Expanding on this, the processes that produced the biology, DNA and building-block proteins may be encoded in a universal song.

Sound and Music - could these be far more than we have thought them to be? Ancient Civilizations considered Music a mystical force and carefully guarded its secrets. Modern experts believe Sound energy can interact with and alter our subtle energies - opening up vast opportunities for healing and growth. The human voice contains voluminous information on the underlying state and wellness of the body. Musical compositions are grand “stories” employing numerous instruments, notes, pitches, rhythms, octaves and so on - producing a Holistic effect beyond the sum of the parts. As my dog knows very well - what sounds right, feels right. Music could be the universal language of nature - and deeper - mirror the grand plan that makes us and our surrounding world what we are.

Instead of shrinking from a dilemma or blaming someone else, be objective and plan a solution that is aligned with your highest good. Be careful not break any rules around the 20th.

he beginning of this year has been marked by a heightened sense of urgency for some, an incredible amount of expectation for others, and even the culmination of around 26 thousand years of celestial movement. We woke up on Jan 1st and we had avoided being blown up by a massive solar flare and to my knowledge we didn’t attain light bodies. What happened? Did we miss the portal? This existential transmutation is a tricky business. We may have missed our appointment with Ashtar Command but large majorities of people are still looking ahead at this New Year. What kind of inspiring new developments will the future hold?

What I found most overwhelming about the Galactic Alignment is that it was a signpost on the developmental road of humanity; a reminder of the things we hoped to have achieved by now. Since the start of the New Year, I have noticed people taking their development a lot more seriously. I know I certainly feel a shift in the collective unconscious and therein myself. My ability to see and feel this shift fills me with an incredible amount of excitement for what lies behind the horizon.

But why didn’t we all evolve into super human entities? After all, I thought The Sun God was going to take off his mask and reveal himself to humanity on the solstice? Apparently, we are not going to have the keys to the kingdom dropped into our hands. Humanity won’t attain 5th dimensional light bodies that stroll across the firmament of the universe without really choosing to be them. Destiny, on a personal and global level, depends upon personal decisions, actions, and the capacity to follow through. I feel that the keys are there waiting for us to reach out with courage and grasp them.

The most promising aspect of this shift is that we all seem to be recognizing that this life is about us bettering ourselves, as opposed to hoping for something to swoop in and tell us how to be and how to “save ourselves”. We should be utilizing the resources of free will and power rather than forgetting that they are available to us. We are always at an impasse in the destiny of our species. Now more than ever though, people are aware that we can destroy ourselves or we can usher in a reality of science fiction.

The idea that we create our reality, in one way or another, is such a widely held belief in this community of pioneers and forward thinkers that it may as well be considered fact. Many of us still encounter a great deal of challenges. Maybe we didn’t succeed in the way we had hoped. There are plenty of goals left unaccomplished and tasks put off.

Our failures don’t disprove these theories, in fact, they strengthen them.

Some of you are going to get frustrated by these words; you will recite all the efforts that you have put into whatever system of reality manipulation you adhere to without seeing the results you want. Imagination and will power can only go so far. It’s not enough that we do NLP or EFT for hours. You can’t really attain what you want unless you grasp it. You do create your reality, but you have to take action. If you don’t take advantage of a new opportunity when it presents itself, you’ll end up walking through the same old doors you have already been through. Muster up the courage to have an adventure!

Many of us have projects we have yet to accomplish that are perpetually calling to us. How do we keep getting distracted from these things? Personally, I have put things off because I didn’t have the time and or money. That’s usually the one most people get stuck on. My tendency has been to wait until reality would magically represent a perfect combination of variables that suited my ideal plan. In the meantime, I would work on tasks that would target my survival needs and instant gratifications: food, bills, party. All the while, I was waiting for the perfect set of variables to manifest. This has not happened thus far, and I don’t see that changing. I constantly have to remind myself of the power of action. In a world where intention and dedication really can alter your existence, action is the only way for you to solidify your wishes in our physical plane.

There is always something we can do. So many people have let themselves become so absorbed in the grind of every day life that our true bliss has fallen by the wayside. Even though we may not have the money to accomplish specific aspects of our projects, there are still many things we have the capacity to prepare for in the interim.

Once you have started working in a specific direction, you initiate momentum. This momentum is propelled not just by intention, but also physical action, and exertion of life force in the direction in which we are aiming.

As we build this momentum, we begin to notice a sort of gravity. Not Newtonian Gravity, but a force that draws us to people or occasions that coincide with the direction we are headed. Assets and resources begin to appear right when we need them.

Every decision we make now is one that lends energy towards the different aspects of reality that we desire to experience.

One key aspect to all of this is the importance of associating emotion with your intentions. Your mind alone cannot dictate your experiences. More often than not, your emotions are the true catalyst for events. For example, in hypnosis the suggestions coupled with emotions are far more likely to show results than someone just saying the words in their head. Emotions fuel the message.

I want you to take a moment to reflect on how often you have a negative emotional reaction in association with your desired goals.

Even with this knowledge, it can be a challenge to maintain a constant action-driven mentality. Much like your computer, your mind can be programmed. Association seems to be the easiest form of programming because your mind is making associations all the time.

You will usually only hear this statement on late night TV or while reading an ad on the Internet. This is known as a “call to action”. It is meant to stimulate the viewer into doing whatever it is the advertiser is trying to convince them to do. would like to take back this powerful combination of words and try to use it for the benefit of our species. After reading this, it is my goal that when you hear or see “Don’t wait. Act now!” you will recall this association instead of buying something you don’t need.

It’s time to get going. Now is the time to take action towards your goals. This is, and has always been, about you. Don’t wait for the right circumstances to appear for you to begin working on your goals. Act now by figuring out what you can do in this moment.

Maybe from this point in time you’re not aware of what steps you could take to “Act Now!” If this is the case, your action should be to figure out what your desires are and what steps you will need to take to get you there.

Earning a living might easily take up most of your time. Or maybe you don’t have the investment capitol to achieve your visionary start-up, but there are a lot of productive things that can be done right now. All it takes is for you to figure out what those steps are, or rather decide what they are.

Where I used to wait for the right group of circumstances to act on, I now act by creating the group of circumstances I need to attain my desires.

Instead of sitting around waiting for things to happen for me, I am going after them.

No matter how small the step is, it is bringing me closer to achieving my goals and finding bliss. Every time I decide to take action in the direction of my goals, I am adding momentum to attaining the ideal.

hey attacked in sharp swoops, diving from every angle. One by one the demons challenged me, striking my soul with their eyes just inches from my face. Each pair of eyes had a unique glow, radiating an explicit shade of terror. Fear penetrated my energy field through my dilated pupils, clouting me with a collage of bone chilling scourges. Finally, I noticed that these demons seemed to be personifications of my own suppressed fears. “They can’t hurt me,” I kept telling myself between fits of sheer horror. I knew they couldn’t hurt me…well, at least on the physical plane I knew they couldn’t, but I was uncertain about the extent to which my non-physical, spiritual self was being threatened.

There was a cylindrical portal open in the room. It ran vertically from theceiling through the floor and into a seeming infinity. It represented my soul’s evolutionary path: progress stretched upwards and regression stretched downwards. The present moment met me in the middle, acting as the doorway to an ever-present choice of which direction to take with each thought, emotion, and action. By the agency of this portal, my present self was in mental contact with both my higher and lower selves. My lower self took the form of a child, about 4 or 5 years old. He was infatuated with fear and suffering. He kept screaming that things were hopeless, that these evil demons were infecting us. My higher self didn’t assume a specific form; he was more like a presence composed of light energy. He began coaching me through this circus of demons, and offered a useful technique for gracefully handling it all.

The technique was simple: to consider the demons my friends. This was difficult, as there was nothing friendly about the way these demons were approaching me, their eyes sucking at my soul. I found however, that when I followed the guidance of my higher self and simply refrained from fearing them, their faces would transform, revealing a friendly expression. If I let the fear creep in, the demons would remain evil until I let it go again. I began to get the idethat this was all a game, like a training ground for facing my fears.

My lower self was not exercising the friendship technique; he was convinced these demons were evil. When I attempted to reason with him, he would instantly respond with hostility and ignore my explanations. Fortunately, my higher self had a suggestion for handling this situation, too; He began sending energy down to me from the upper end of the portal; it came down into my crown and accumulated in my aura. It was a vibration of love, blissful serenity, and worry-free excitement.

As this energy built up within me I was able to transfer it through my hands into the aura of my lower self, the child. He slowly emerged into a higher awareness, snapping out of his panic, though only for short intervals at first. It was like he was waking up from a nightmare and didn’t remember why he had been so afraid; he would sit there puzzled for a minute and then snap back into panic, teetering back and forth for what seemed like hours. During his calm moments, I was able to get through to him and reason with him. Finally, after gaining and building his trust, we came to an agreement that he would take guidance from the higher energies with regard to the interpretation of nature. He agreed, simply because it felt so much better to relax and stop worrying. The situation gradually dissipated with time and I watched the room fade back to normalcy.

My introspective experience with ibogaine was a wild 12-hour time period,to say the least. Despite how torturous and grueling it was initially, in the end it was far more rewarding than it was painful. When you encounter such an intense experience, everyday struggles become laughable. It’s as if the weight of your regular problems dramatically decreases by increasing the mass of your existential awareness. After my experience with ibogaine, it became obvious to me why indigenous tribes use the plant to mark a rite of passage; it’s like a cosmic father who teaches the ultimate tough-love-crash-course-life-lesson.

Ibogaine is derived from the root of an African plant. It was originally used during religious ceremonies over a thousand years ago by Bwiti tribes in Africa. Their entire societal structure was based on the wisdom received during communication with the plant upon eating it. Today, it’s used medically for a wide variety of treatments from intestinal cleansing to psychotherapy. The most well known medical use for the plant is to treat substance abuse disorders. Its ability to reset neuro-pathways in the brain gives the subject an opportunity to change his or her thought patterns.

This proved extremely helpful to patients with mental disorders and/or addiction problems, particularly opiate addiction. Opiate withdrawal is a severely painful and even potentially deadly endeavor; it involves the shakes, cold/hot sweats, diarrhea, vomiting, crippling body pain and immense psychological torment and depression. An Interview with the founder of Solar Rain Bj Kjaer by Sydney L Murray

As we shift into the future the understanding of the resources available to us is invaluable in order to sustain both our physical and spiritual well being. Keeping in mind the physical aspect, Vision Magazine decided to interview the founder of SolarRain. SolarRain is a bottled water company, local to San Diego that utilizes San Diego’s ocean water, vaporizes, purifies, and bottles it without the use of chemicals or hormones. As he has done so much to provide our city with clean, environmentally conscious bottled water, we thought he could provide us with some of his insight as well.

Vision Magazine: 2012 has been quite a year. What do you see on the horizon for 2013?

Bj Kjaer: I guess we got over another end of the world, yet we are still here. I think that as far as Solar Rain is concerned, there is no question we are growing. People are realizing the importance, the quality, and advantages of the product we have. We are planning on introducing a glass bottle 750 milliliter glass bottle. Even though we truly believe in the biodegradable bottle we have now, we just have so many people saying they want glass bottles and they don’t care what you have now, ‘we want glass.’ But even though I love glass for many things, it’s great for storage. And we are also introducing Ocean plants, basically seaweed if you want to call it that, materials people are working on that we’re looking into.

There is ocean plastic which is a very different product. The ocean plastic is fished from the ocean and then recycled, much like what is already out in the market, which is called RPET, which is recycled plastic, which is not a very good vessel to put water into because even though we love recycling and we do a lot of it, please do not make a product that holds

food or water because once you break down the polymer chain and it makes the plastic porous and it leaches into the water.

And the ocean plastic is probably a really cool idea to get the plastic out of the ocean, but please don’t make it into bottles.

Please, make it into lawn furniture.

The bottled water is controlled by Coke, Pepsi, and Nestle and not long ago, there was a lawsuit that Nestle was saying they were offering spring water but they were selling tap water.

Shop local; know the people you buy from. I want to know what farmer, who it came from. I want to know how it was grown or raised and the same goes for water really.

Solar Rain is growing and I don’t really know how many people want to educate themselves about the things they put into their bodies. Although it seems, to me, to be the most crucial and important thing: to educate yourself about what you put into your body.

VM: Will you ever get into delivering larger bottles of Solar Rain for home or office use?

BJK: We have been looking into doing 3-5 gallons that could be delivered. Our concern was one, the container: that it is BPA free, and we have found some. And again, glass is heavy I think at some point next year we will be introducing some 3 and 5 gallon jugs for home delivery.

And we are introducing a sparkling water, so many of the restaurants requested it.

So there are some sparkling processes; what happens when you carbonate the water, it lowers the PH. I have to say this whole PH craze, the whole alkaline thing, the PH you know it’s so hard to stabilize the level of PH in water because there is nothing to attach the PH to in the water. The body works in 7 PH; it doesn’t want 9. I don’t think you could live if your PH was 9. I think you would die if your PH was 5; the body can only function, and certain organs can only function at 7, 7.2, and 7.3. Obviously the stomach is way lower because of the hydrochloric acid.

Solar Rain water is 7. People think they have too much acid, but they don’t have enough acid in their stomachs. If they take a teaspoon full of apple cider vinegar and that is going to get rid of your indigestion.

And water, any water, raises the PH of your stomach.

I was reading an article about the alkaline water issue and some producers are saying that theirs is higher alkaline, it is easy as adding baking soda to the water, and how good

F E AT U R E it is for your body. The stomach and the pancreas adjust the PH in your body and not a lot of water is absorbed in the stomach lining and it gets into the small intestine and the pancreas adjusts the PH, and it needs to be 7.

VM: And what about the farm, how do you see 2013?

BJK: And as far as the farm is concerned, it is going to be a tough year, mainly because the water prices have gone up. And the farmers have lost their discount that was agreed on by the water authority. The farmers had a discount because they buy hundreds of thousands of gallons compared to homeowners. Farmers are going to pay the same price as homeowners in PB [Pacific Beach].

In the last three years they [the water authority] have taken away more of the discount and so this [2012] will be the last year that farmers get a discount and then [it] will be completely gone. And on top of that, the water prices are going up. And the water went up the last part of 2012. I would say most of the crops I grow were lower in 2012 than in 2011. Our costs are going up, we give our employees more money, our insurance went up, our workman’s comp went up; everything went up. Fuel went up. Food prices went down so it is getting tough.

I would say that everybody is talking about eating local but often they don’t mean it. But really Americans don’t really care where their food came from or where it is produced; they want the cheapest possible food. They don’t care if it comes from third world countries. I just read the other day that DDT is still produced till this day and it is still used. We don’t know what goes on with our food from other countries that we import our food from. People talk about terrorist threats but the real threat is what goes in our food.

You are what you eat. And I think it is very scary the quality of food from third world countries: artificial fertilizers and pesticides.

And I think the larger chains try to do some [organic].

And another point is people say they are sustainable – what is sustainable? To me when people say they are sustainable they don’t want to be certified organic.

The whole sustainable thing is, and I agree with sustainability, and 4-5 years ago when the USDA high-jacked the whole organic industry and a lot of large corporations said they wanted part of the market share because they could see the growth. In California, that lowered the standards for organics and allowed organic famers to do all kinds of crap that they weren’t allowed to do before. California had one of the strictest organic standards in the country, but that has now been weakened. The only reason this law changed [is] because the big corporations wanted access.

When the USDA got involved you basically have to follow the NOS, which is the National Organic Standards, which is set by the USDA and is one standard for everybody in the United States. Certain states the standards were improved and other states like California, they were certainly weakened. And it’s not as good as it used to be.

And I know of organic farmers that sell to other less conscientious chains, and by the new USDA standards they spread the crap out of their crops, various “organically” allowed pesticides, maybe they are organically derived, but if it is, petroleum based and organically derived. But if you have a helicopter flying over your property on your ress or crops, you are not just killing the pests you are killing everything that is there.

They don’t know if there are bees pollinating a flower while they are spraying and now have dowsed it with oil. And it will go back to its hive.

So sustainable doesn’t really mean anything, and we need to keep an eye on the conventional farmers that are spraying chemicals on their crops. Those are the guys who should be watched not the guys who want to do good things and grow good healthy food.

At least for the local San Diego farmers it is going to be a tough year because water is so scarce.

Everything has gone up. My water costs will go up $10,000-$12,000 next year. And more because of the free trade with NAFTA more and more avocadoes are coming in from Mexico, Chile and Peru They are even shipping avocadoes from New Zealand.

Many prescription drugs such as Methadone, suboxone, subutex have been prescribed for the same purpose; however, aside from inducing their own unpleasant withdrawal symptoms, most of them require a minimum of 2 weeks of treatment and have little to no psychological benefits. In fact, a large number of addicts end up becoming addicted to the very treatment that was prescribed to help their addiction. Ibogaine, due to its psychedelic properties, was declared a schedule 1 substance in 1967 as part of the U.S. government’s strong response to the rise in popularity of psychedelic substances. My personal interest in ibogaine was inresponse to its purported spiritual properties. I’ve been intrigued by shamanism for years and when I heard ibogaine being referred to as the masculine form of ayahuasca, I immediately wanted to know more. Ayahuasca, a more commonly known shamanic tool than ibogaine (at least in the western world), has comparably intense effects, as well as its own miraculous healing qualities. Interestingly, these plants are native to opposite sides of the planet: ibogaine being from Africa andayahuasca from the Amazon. The correlation I made between these medicines and the cosmic eb and flow of nature is what inspired my deep fascination with them.

During the Dec 21, 2012 Convergence at the Chichen Itza ruins in Central America, I met a Dr. Martin Polanco, an ibogaine treatment provider from Baja. He was actually the first person in Mexico to open a clinic. It’s called “Crossroads Treatment Center” and is located in a gated community on the beach in Rosorito. I was back in the states for less than a month when I decided to take another trip to Mexico for an Ibogaine vision quest at Crossroads Treatment Center. The treatment left me with an incredibly quiet mind; any chatter that was dancing around in my head beforehand became muted.

derstanding of ibogaine’s psychological effects. Upon my arrival at the facility, I was given a private bedroom on the beachfront property with my own fireplace, a full bathroom and even maid service. I woke in the mornings to home-cooked breakfast, thoughtfully prepared each day by one of several beautiful Mexican grandmothers who also blessed the food. The main living room had a glass wall and a door to the back yard with a cabana and hammocks overlooking the ocean. ßBetween the bedrooms, in the courtyard, there was a large outside fireplace and seating area where the guests and staff could interact. There was a movie/video game room and a pool/ping pong table in the main living room. It felt more like a vacation resort than a treatment center.

Beyond the beautiful ambiance of the property, what I found most magical about Crossroads was the synergy of the staff; they were like a huge, welcoming family and I could tell they genuinely enjoyed being there. A number of times during the trip, the other guests and I acknowledged how lucky we were to have such an awesome group taking care of us. There were several yoga classes and therapy sessions provided during my week-long stay and a beautiful young masseuse even came in for three of the days. I have to admit, I developed a bit of a crush on her by the end of my stay. Through my acquaintance with this facility and the plant itself, I have come to wholeheartedly advocate the medical and spiritual use of ibogaine. My personal belief about plants is that each has its own unique spirit and intelligence. Therefore, when you consume a plant, your spiritual and physical intelligence have an opportunity to learn from the plant. Some plants are subtler in their effects, like kale or spinach; others, like ibogaine, tend to affect you more intensely.

A plant’s ability to influence your consciousness is a form of communication between you and the plant, and the nature of that influence is determined by the plant’s characteristics and your reaction to it. It has even been discovered that plants grow stronger and healthier if they are spoken to and interacted with. Indeed, the plant and animal kingdoms can speak to each other in ways previously unimagined, if not simply ignored, by the west.

We need plants to survive, and the fact that you are alive and able to read this article means that plants are presently affecting your consciousness. The idea that communication with nature is crucial in reveling deeper realms of consciousness and insight has been understood by the indigenous for centuries. I think that somewhere along the path to western industrialism, most of us forgot how to communicate with nature and benefit from the wisdom it has to share. Imagine howmuch they could help us if we were more perceptive to their messages. I propose that we rediscover this lost relationship with our planet and open up the dialogue between humanity and plants once again.

Synchronicity and its Caveats

Synchronicity - a word one hears liberally sprinkled in conversations all over the spiritual world. What does it mean and what could an unpacking of the term imply? Fear not – I have absolutely no real answers to either of these questions, or any other questions, for that matter. What I do have is a moderately concise, infinitely exciting, hopefully helpful assortment of words that I’ve assembled like a picture from puzzle pieces of information I’ve collected over time.

I started to notice synchronicities in my life after reading Carl Jung’s book on the subject about 6 years ago – I could go into my own personal experiences, but Patrick Haize’s examples in his article on the Dec. 21st gathering at Chichen Itza are great examples and I suggest you read his article, as well. The term synchronicity is a term coined by Jung himself to express a concept that belongs to him, though it can be recognized in a number of other thinkers’ philosophies. He defines it as an acausal connection of two or more psycho-physical phenomena. Say what, right? Well, it means that the two phenomena do not relate to each other according to the law of cause and effect that seems to rule the universe; however – and it’s a big, resounding however that I will discuss briefly later on - it does not mean that either of the agents therefore caused the connection to happen by the agency of free-will.

This concept came to Jung after a specific incident with a patient at an impasse in treatment. The patient’s exaggerated rationalism, called animus inflation by Jung, was holding her back from assimilating subconscious material, including material that the woman herself had obviously kept subconscious because of her fear of that material. This is likely the case with everyone you know including yourself. Everybody who had a childhood that, let’s just be honest, left a little to be desired, and anyone who, let’s just be honest one more time, is far from perfect…please, keep reading.

One night, the patient dreamed about a golden scarab and the next day, during the psychotherapy session, Jung heard a sound outside and instinctively reached his hand out the window in order to grab the noisemaker. It happened to be a golden scarab, an insect completely foreign to the climate he was practicing in.

From there he decided to write a book on the subject, one I recommend everyone read.

MANIFESTING THE NEW WORLD His theory goes something like this (and does, I apologize, require at least a rudimentary, and at most a controversial, treatment of free-will): Events happen in the world not according to either free-will or chance, like we all tend to say we believe, but instead according to one predetermined path, and your will can either be in line with that path - synchronized with it - or not. Freewill, then, is more like a feeling, a feeling that arises when what you want or need coincides with what you would have been given anyway.

Let me at least attempt to dodge the bullet of the free-will discussion for now by directing you, the reader, to the book “Freedom Evolves” by Daniel Dennett, a notable modern philosopher who was once a professor of mine at Tufts University in Boston and whose view of freedom is compatible with Jung’s. Dennett redefines freedom as the ability to make decisions without duress, to exist in the world of cause and effect without resistance.

There have been many philosophical investigations of free-will over the course of human history, but it is only recently that the fields of philosophy, psychology and neuroscience have teamed up to present actual experiments that suggest our definition of free-will, presented to us by a deleterious cultural paradigm of vengeance and intolerance directed towards those of us who would seem to “choose” harm for themselves and others, might

need reevaluating.

I know. I know. I’ve been hit. The bullet, it hurts. Death by free-will bullets; now, back to synchronicity. One example of synchronicity that you might run into is - get ready for it - the BaaderMeinhof phenomenon: when you learn a new word and then you hear it everywhere. It’s like that word is it’s own radio station and your radio didn’t get that station before you heard it.

Though, of course, this might be more than a metaphor, since scientific evidence suggests that your brain really is a kind of radio station, with wetware instead of hardware, receiving and projecting information at an oscillating speed, visualized most easily as a wave pattern where sometimes there is excessive, sometimes minimal, brain-activity. The wave pattern is a diagnostical tool, likened to a pie chart, that quantifies the amount of brain activity, the amount of times neurons communicate electrical impulses, over a period of time. More or less brain activity corresponds to greater or fewer oscillations over time, respectively, so the frequency is determined as a function of both the brain activity and the time period over which that activity takes place. The frat house of brain-wave states is as follows, from the lowest oscillating frequency over time to the highest: delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma and each one can be detected by an EEG, or electroencephalogram, as you move from deep sleep, to light sleep, to relaxed wakefulness, to active locomotion, to cognitive processing, respectively.

It should come as no surprise that it’s possible to fine-tune your radio, synchronize your radio, with information that interacts with your sense receptors, at both the conscious and subconscious levels. To do so would be to engage in traditional Buddhist concepts of mindfulness and meditation, and many experiments have been performed linking meditation with slowing down the oscillations of

brainwaves over time, thus decreasing the frequency, which is in turn linked with increased feelings of calm.

But there is more at stake than calmness for Jung in the recognition of the acausal relationship between two or more psychophysical phenomena. Ulterior to the recognition of synchronicity is the recognition of the archetype or the constellation of an archetype, which, in his view, is a process of self-development that occurs as a dialogue between objective manifestations in the physical world, and subjective ones in the psychological universe. The success or realization of the archetype is only as successful as the dialogue that occurs between the inner and the outer experience, the consciousness and the perceptions that enter the consciousness.

I think that the realization of the archetype involves entering each different brain-wave state throughout the course of the day.

Sounds simple, but it turns out most people don’t dream or get deep sleep anymore, for all the obvious stress-related reasons and others. For Jung, and for many cultures around the world, dream life is an integral part of a person’s psyche and the manifestation of their identity. We tend to write dreams off as meaningless, but that is perhaps because we have become lazy writers, content to have televisions do the writing for us.

And it would be fun to weave together amazingly fantastical stories about the meaning of my existence from the things that end up happening to us (which I have every reason to suspect happen to me more than coincidently), but here there is the danger of objectivity. There is the danger that that I could find this synchronization to be objectively true, independent of the valuation of my mind, which creates an illusory separation between the subject and object, the inner and the outer, the body and the mind, a separation that became popular in the west as a consequence of Descartes’ famous statement “Je pense donc je suis,” or “I think, therefore I am”.

Bear with me here for a moment while I get super-boring and refute this statement. For “you” to think requires that “you” exist, which is easier said than proved. We can think that the lochness monster exists, but its existence as an idea doesn’t mean it exists in real life. The same is true of the “I”. In order for there to be thought, there must be something that thinks that thought, says Descartes, but who ever said that thing must necessarily be one single “I”? Thought may very well arise from an amalgamation of “I’s”, like the “eyes” of a peacocks fanning tail, all acting simultaneously to synthesize the information we receive from this dimension and others into a manageable, but illusory, “whole”.

Indeed, the brain is deigned by scientific folk to be a kind of “parallel processor”, computing information of varying quality from various sources, at a speed so fast that we mistakenly believe that we see and experience it all at once as one single perception (computers used by the stock-exchange to make trades actually

operate at a speed higher than the speed with which we perceive sensory input, as insane and dangerous as that may sound!).

Synchronicity, like all mental phenomena, is easily refuted as the product of an over-active imagination or under-active reason; however, were we to gaze longer at the line set in place, perhaps not even by ourselves, that divides the concept of “reason” from the concept of “imagination”, might not we find it transparent?

And if we found that line to be transparent, would we not, then, be forced to concede that all we know is that we know nothing at all, that all we think we know could be a product of reason just as much as it could be a product of the imagination, just as much a product of a single “I” as a product of multiple intelligences?

In Immanuel Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason, reason is contained within the imagination – what is “actual” or perceivable to us through reason is only a small fraction of what is possibly perceivable or “actual” through our limitless imaginations. Even so, Kant, like many modern intellectuals, fears the dissolution of the boundary between reason and imagination that his analysis necessitates. In a rare poetical lapse in his typically strict philosophical jargon, Kant envisions reason as, “an island... surrounded by a wide and stormy ocean, the native home of illusion, where many a fog bank and many a swiftly melting iceberg give the deceptive appearance of farther shores.”

Picture synchronicity, then, from the vantage point of the shore of this island, from the vantage point of the transparent line between reason and the infinite possibilities that exist outside of our reason, because that is how Jung, without Kant’s fear, pictured it. Some events are so alarmingly serendipitous that we deign them “synchronous”, whereas other events don’t fit the concept, so we call them asynchronous – we can stay on the shore or dip our feet in the cosmic bath, but we are not compelled to stay in one place or another. An event that seems synchronous now may be evaluated to be asynchronous later. Where we come down on the matter depends on our perspective at any one moment in time, liable to change at a moment’s notice, even under our very noses; words have always been, and will always be, poor, though not entirely useless, translations of our ideas and our experiences, all of which, I might add, are subject to the march of time and John Keats’ Grecian Urn, the forgetful memory.

In admitting our human faults, our human virtues shine that much brighter, an admittedly superficial, but necessary linguistic caveat to make here where the subject is, fundamentally, about linguistic caveats. Gregory Cochran and Henry Harpending in the 10,000 Year Explosion hypothesize that language was the tool that allowed modern humans to overtake Neanderthals – an idea that’s hard to disagree with, and which I recall in order to suggest that we are perhaps still coming to terms with the theory’s implication, the implication that we use language violently in practice. It happens subtly. We pick up a book, trust everything it says, still

fail to finish it, and call ourselves experts on the matter, sharing half-forgotten information crumbs like they were the whole information cookie. Some even claim to have absolute knowledge, the knowledge of ideologues, the kind of knowledge over which much blood has been shed.

There is a better way to understand our relationship with synchronicity and it’s implications, if we understand and embrace the importance of timely, precise and poetic words. Daniel Pinchbeck, in his book “Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism”, holds Shakespeare up as the repudiated father of a more profoundly possible, timely and precise modern consciousness with his “mercurial ambiguities and Synchronicity continued on page 36

You can pretty much grow everything in this climate, I pretty much grow everything.

I grow my own popcorn.

VM: I wanted to know about the Solar Rain Team.

BJK: There is myself, and we are a relatively small operation. Anthony runs the productions and runs the office. He and his family are very involved in animal rescue.

They foster dogs all of the time to get them ready for adoption. Anthony has a couple of kids and they are involved in animal rescue as well. They are big recyclers as well.

I’ve know Anthony for 7-8 years and [he] was involved in my bicycle business. And then we have Christian who is mostly on the road doing demos, teaching people about solar rain, advancing the charity events, we do a lot of charity events where we give away water. Christian runs these events. Then there’s Eric, an engineer from Switzerland, lives in Carlsbad, got his engineering degree from Switzerland. He’s one of our partners in the business, very passionate about what we do. He’s also in the skin care business, has a co called “Skin Again,” which basically started, they produced products to help heal burn victims, so he’s passionate about that. His house is completely solarized and he gets credit, he produces way more energy than he uses. He has his own well instead of using the water district. He’s all about being self sufficient and independent that way. My farm is the same; it’s all solar, I don’t pay any electricity bills. That’s about it right now, we had some other guys involved and we bought them out of the company. We have a couple girls who work part time for us too. Lynn is a yoga instructor, she really believes in our product, and healthy living. That’s pretty much it. It’s a pretty small team.

VM: So if someone wanted to get Solar Rain to debut at one of their events do they just call you?

BJK: Yeah, just call or send an email. The website’s on all our bottles. There are people to contact about doing charity things, or school events, teach the kids about water. We’re happy to do some tours of the place for kids and teach them about it. I was talking to Dave Scott, who’s one of the weather guys on the local T.V. channels.

I said, “Dave, you talk about weather all the time. Why don’t you come and visit? We make weather here.”

VM: So our theme for January was “where do we go from here?” What would that phrase mean to you?

BJK: I think if we would all just not be so afraid of the end of the world and everything out there and just get along. I mean it sounds so simple but it seems to be so difficult, we basically all want the same thing I think. And if we stop being so greedy and selfish, it would be a much nicer place to live. I was living in Denmark some years back for a short time to help out my family. We were there over the holidays and I don’t know what happened but there was some greenery, because we would always compost everything, recycle everything, anything that was vegetable or anything we would have a separate pail for compost. People don’t realize what beautiful soil it makes. Anyway, I don’t know what happened, but somehow some greenery ended up in our regular garbage can. The garbage collectors came to collect our garbage and they knocked on the door and said “we can’t take this garbage. You’re not allowed to have greenery in the garbage, you have to compost it.”

It was like my higher self was reorganizing the schedule, specifically to give me a more meaningful experience! I even inherited a full experience bracelet from someone that left the gathering: scoring free food for the weekend, as well as a shuttle ride back to the airport! I exchanged countless mutual synchronicities with the wisdom keepers and spiritual seekers I interviewed.

Ironically during many of these interactions, I simultaneously overheard others complain about the “bad luck” they were having. During one conversation, Dr Joe Marshala and I agreed, that the level of synchronicity we were experiencing on this expedition was so continuous that the non-synchronistic moments were what stood out as unique.

Having faith that something better than you can imagine is always there waiting to be discovered keeps you literate in the language in which the treasure map is written.

All the light workers I spoke with agreed: it was important for us to stay in contact and work together to spread the vibration of this dimension we had created. This article is my first reflection of this vibration; I hope it shows how powerful of an effect someone’s state of being can have on a situation. There are blessings born from every so-called “negative;” if you’re not open to receive the blessings then someone else will. As I got a back massage on the plane ride home to America, I remember thinking to myself ‘this game of stripping blessings is truly a form of alchemy’. Human beings were meant to do that. It’s the simple things that would make us feel better, make us happier. Were used to the crazy health care cost that’s not heath care anyway; it’s sick care. I think publications like you certainly help make people aware. How do we get publications like yours out to more people, instead of just the people in OB at People’s coop, that are already aware and already understand that organic is important and eating vegetables and greenery is important. How do we get the wider distribution for a publication like yours out there? It’s hard to do it one person at a time, but it’s good to do a face to face thing. It’s kind of what it takes to get people to understand that we all ultimately want the same thing. Without each other we’re not going to go anywhere; we’re just going to fight.

linguistic openness”, his ability to weave a web of waking consciousness giving way to dream consciousness, of tastes turning into colors, of men turning into asses. But Shakespeare’s works “indicate a path that the modern consciousness did not take”, for Pinchbeck, so how do we moderns access the wisdom that Shakespeare so masterfully laid out for us?

According to Henry Munn in “The Mushrooms of Language”, shamans, too, are “men of language, illuminated with the spirit, who call themselves the ones who speak, those who say.” As Pinchbeck points out in his book, this means that “the ability to heal is directly related to ecstatic and inspired speech,” a curious fact corroborated all throughout shamanic literature. No, I don’t think everyone is equipped to handle the ordeal of shamanic practices, and no, I do not believe that ingesting mushrooms and studying Shakespeare are the same (would that they were!), but both Shakespeare and Shamanism, besides sounding good together side by side, open us up to the possibility that the cunning linguist and the shaman are one, the possibility that the one who artistically paints with words can medicinally heals with those words, if those words are true and kind. Pinchbeck writes, “The Modernist writers and artists, consciously or not, borrowed elements from the shamanic archetype. Like tribal shamans, the artists saw themselves, in Ezra Pound’s phrase, as ‘the antennae of the race,’…they believed their icons and testaments, like magic fetishes, contained the power to heal the culture’s spiritual maladies.”

We either need a new language, or a new appreciation of the language we already have available to us. There is in France the concept of “l’esprit d’escalier”, or “the spirit of the escalator”, which is used to describe the feeling of making eyes with someone as you crisscross them on an escalator. Concepts like this, concepts like synchronicity, concepts and words that not only seek to create spiritual currency in our lives, but also challenge the idea of what it typically means for physical or mental objects or events to be elevated to the status of “real”, appeal to me linguistically because they represent a language in action. The very essence of the idea is in the movement of the two pairs of eyes as they pass each other. The same is true of synchronicity. If we expand our vocabulary beyond the typical 4,000 word average (Shakespeare’s vocabulary: 29,000 words – the average American teenager’s texting vocabulary: 40 words), we’d be like painters buying new hues. If we expanded our syntax, we’d be like painters buying new brushes. But if we changed the language, too, like Shakespeare did, inventing about 1,700 words in all, maybe we’d be like painters getting our hands on a fresh canvas. Let the discussion begin.

So, in forming your community, watch out for the civil ones. Learn to discern the difference between a genuinely loving person and a merely civil one, because if you do not learn the difference, pretty soon the civil one will cause havoc among the group, and if you are not strong enough as a leader, they will see to it that you are removed from the group, even though you may have started the community. (This has happened in some intentional communities in the past several decades.)

In closing, we can only strive for perfection, and to varying degrees people are more perfect, more knowledgeable. Wisdom is greater than knowledge. Find a leader and sub-leaders with wisdom above knowledge. Know the difference between new souls and older souls. New souls cannot be the head administrator if you have a community of mixed starseed and new souls. They can serve as supervisors in functions, but they cannot lead others in multi-dimensional leadership like the older souls with astral (past-life) experience.

Weed out the bad seeds, or you will find too many weeds growing in between your vegetable gardens. Learn to only water the good seeds, and let the bad seeds die off, or go away if they are people. Apply this weeding principle, of course, to both your plants and community members.

he aim of my painting is to capture visions from deep psychic states and bring them back to share within the human experience. Paintings can deeply resonate with the souls of those in search of answers. An artist can bring relief to these people because it comforts them to know that another person has also had a similar experience. I feel it is an artist’s job to assist those who are in search.

For art to be perfect, it must be created in a timeless state where the creation becomes second nature. The mind must be in a void space, allowing direct connection to soul and spirit, and the brush must become the rainbow bridge between worlds. Unclear thinking must first be eliminated before an artist can attain the psychic understanding of the inner essence of all things. The mind of an artist should never conform to a particular style or be wrapped up in complexities. Upon this realization, an artist can penetrate directly to the core of any problem because there are no limitations, leaving the artist with infinite means to serve his ends. Mathematical and geometric patterns such as the Fibonacci sequence or the Flower of Life act as visual representations in my art to mirror the creation of life; indeed, my art is in-

We are a reflection of our society. The mind is very complex, making it easy to get wrapped up and lose focus of standards and intentions. We place limitations on ourselves, we tell ourselves what we can and can’t do, we make excuses because what we desire may be considered dangerous or against the rules. What if we decided to shed all unnecessary limitations, to no longer obey the laws that oppress us or abide by the philosophies set by organized institutions? Graffiti street art may be illegal but that doesn’t mean its wrong.

I would like to see everyone create more; that’s why I paint the symbols of creation.

Stand up for your rights. Support your community. Teach the youth. Shop local. Eat organic. Avoid vaccines. Burn Down Babylon. Spread Love. Jerry Garcia Man.
