Workshop, Retreat & Seminar Leaders Will Save The World! e live in turbulent times. The world feels shaky. Some people are suffering with health issues. Others with rocky relationships or job stress. Most are very concerned about the economy and the environment. Faith in politicians is dropping, and a deep craving for other kinds of leadership is rising. Thankfully, there are new leaders stepping up to help! They’re our modern day teachers…educated and talented Workshop Leaders. And they’re here to Save the World. We caught up with Callan Rush, a leading expert on designing & delivering lucrative, life-changing workshops: Q: What does the workshop industry look like today, Callan? A: It’s a great industry to be involved in right now. As you mentioned, times are uncertain – and people are scared. Human beings inherently know there is safety in numbers. Naturally, people want to GATHER right now! This is why the workshop industry is thriving, while other businesses tank. Providing a place for people to connect, feel inspired, get skills and acquire education just makes sense. Q: What’s the #1 BLOCK these grass roots World Leaders face? A: The biggest block Workshop Leaders face has to do with FILLING THEIR EVENTS. “Poor attendance” or “not enough people in the seats” are the main complaints. And I get it! It’s no fun working hard to get the word out, prepping your material… and then showing up to face an empty

event room. It’s totally disheartening. Disheartened leaders are NOT what the world needs right now. What also concerns me is this; the people who really need help, whether in the health, wealth, relationship or other area of life, continue to suffer unnecessarily simply because they didn’t know there was a workshop leader who could help. My business partner spent 31 years suffering with debilitating stomach pain. One day, he found a Holistic Nutrition Workshop that helped cure him. I shudder to think what his life would have been like without that workshop. Q: What do you tell Workshop Leaders who come to you looking for advice? A: I say the same thing over and over. If you believe in what you are up to in the world, it’s your duty and your dharma to do whatever it takes to learn to attract the people you are meant to serve! This starts with education. Filling your workshops CAN be quite easy… if you know the fundamental elements. As a former teacher, I pride myself in being able to show even the most ‘non-business’ types how to easily, effectively and economically use things like, ‘email marketing’ and ‘word of mouth marketing.’ I show them how marketing can actually feel good to them, great to their clients, and still get an awesome result. This means full workshops, healthy people, and inspired Leaders. I like to think of myself as a bridge between the people who are suffering, and the leaders that have the solutions.

MEET CALLAN: Top notch trainer with over 15 years in the workshop & seminar industry, Callan specializes in helping healers, holistic practitioners, workshop & seminar leaders earn a lucrative living...while making a positive difference in the world.

Fill Your Workshops... With Ease! Avoid the 3 Massive Mistakes Workshop Leaders Make that Keep Their Event Rooms Empty!

o far as I know, nothing on planet earth has been ever been proven strictly impossible. According to Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, mathematical and rational logic approach a threshold past, which we cannot calculate for the subtle influences of known variables. While we can apply the scientific method to any realm of inquiry we choose, there is a limiting factor that prevents us from fully quantifying, from fully concluding, from fully knowing the whole story. Things have been postulated to be impossible like, say, life without carbon, but, then again, it’s also been postulated that silicon may be a replacement carbon base for life forms that we maybe have not seen yet. In The history of the world, humans have not only turned around that which was once considered impossible, analyzed it from another perspective, and proven it the most likely, but have also been turned around. Galileo’s theory of heliocentrism knocked man off of his cosmological center, and we continue to discover new planets and planetary influences all the time. Given enough thought and research, novel facts and discoveries, or even old discarded ideas and idea fragments, can arise or resurface and change the name of the game. The proverbial Newtonian apple tree always looms overhead, waiting to drop knowledge on, and add insight to, our current, limited informational paradigm. Sorting through information that is more and less likely to be true can be difficult, and it can be tiring to research, but supercomputers are improving at a rate that is both terrifying and inspiring, making it easier for us to process massive sets of quantifiable information. IBM’s newest supercomputer, innocuously named “Watson”, absorbs and digests information contained in the annals of the internet and calculates answers to questions 6 V I S I O N M AG A Z I N E • M a r c h 2 013 • v i s i o n m a g a z i n e .c o m

based on logarithmic probabilities. Sounds technical, but all that’s really to say: it works the same way you process information and relay it to the world. You absorb, you synthesize and then you repackage information for the world to see in your own way. And speaking of Galileo, computers have opened up whole new realms of research previously rendered impossible by the limited nature of the human mind to calculate and incorporate disparate and seemingly incongruous elements of data. If everything is possible, that means that impossibility is a possibility. Here we

have the circular vortex of Zeno’s paradoxes. How can we ever arrive at point of certainty, at a point of knowing, when in order to arrive, we must first arrive at the halfway point, and then the halfway point of the halfway point, and so on. Yet, if consciousness is the basis for existence, then whatever we conceive takes part in existence in some way, both the limits and impossibilities as well as limitlessness and the infinity of possibilities, so what determines the breadth and depth of our possible world is the breadth and depth of consciousness itself. Human Potential is infinite, so infinite that it encompasses both limitation as well as limitlessness, and our greatest gift is our potentiality for choice, our ability to decide what we will and won’t allow into what we can only hope is a Leibnizian “best of all possible worlds”. Every great conscious innovation/invention would not have been possible without the mad scientists, the electrical Faradays willing to suggest that forces just barely on the edge of our grasp do, indeed, take part in the divine world play, the Hindu lila, of our consensual reality. If something can be imagined to exist, the rational viability and discovery of it’s existence can only be made possible by the intuitive flashlight of a sustained and critical, yet illumined and suggestible examination. Human potential is limitless, and if you wish to limit it, your wish is, indeed, your command, but if you wish to push these limits, to see beyond the veil, then hopefully some of these articles will gently tug at and expand the metaphorical orbits of your truly cosmic consciousness.

“There’s nothing heavier to carry than a grudge.” my Uncle Tasso

Begging My Pardon

I miss the good old days. I do. It’s not fashionable to wax nostalgic, but I grew up in a time when there were “gaps”—socio-cultural fissures that ran long and deep between contrasting and conflicting sectors of the public. There was the Generation Gap, the Gender Gap, and the Credibility Gap. We were so gap-crazy back in the sixties we even had a clothing store that sold blue jeans to match our gap-obsessed ways. Its name? The Gap. I mourn the loss of gaps more than I do my elephant bellbottoms. I recently began reconciling myself to a gap-free life when I realized that perhaps I’d stumbled on the next big break, gap-wise: Wasn’t the absence of gaps a gap unto itself? I was going to call it The Gap Gap. That is, until I realized there’s a split out there that dwarfs any gap I’ve ever seen, and is more than big enough to sate my gap-starved ways—the Forgiveness Gap. Forgiveness is an act that most people can relate to on more than an abstract level. Implicit in the concept is that there’s something to forgive: someone’s committed some act (or not), the nature of which requires a pardon for the parties to continue to interact or at least proceed with a clear understanding about whatever happened. The standard by which someone can commit an act requiring forgiveness, though, is fluid. For instance, being a lapsed Greek Orthodox, I was never particularly happy about practicing a religion that labeled me a sinner merely for being born. The only thing I found original about the notion of Original Sin was that it put me on the defensive from the get-go, which was a great strategy for keeping me spiritually offbalance. Personally, I think it’d be a great public-relations move if the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church would grant blanket amnesty to everyone out there functioning under the Original Sin burden, a sort of get-out-of-purgatory-free card. But that’s not going to happen, so I’m left to think about the dearth of forgiveness in a world where zero-tolerance is the gold standard.

8 V I S I O N M AG A Z I N E • M a r c h 2 013 • v i s i o n m a g a z i n e .c o m

Since 9/11, “zero-tolerance” has taken on a literalness that extends to how we as a country proceed against anyone suspected of anything that even remotely smacks of terrorism. Coincidentally, since then, the state of the world has devolved into an ever-expanding spate of both inter- and intra-national clashes. And why wouldn’t it? When nothing’s tolerated, everything becomes intolerable. Throw a dart at a spinning globe and you’d be hard-pressed to miss hitting a region not impacted, if not embroiled, by some form of conflict that increasingly draws on zero-tolerance for its authority, diminishing the quality of life there in the process. Per force, where there’s lots of fighting going on forgiveness is in short supply. But how can I expect people to extend clemency to someone with whom they have been in conflict if I can’t find my way to offering it to myself, especially in times of great self-contained, auto-inflicted discord? Whenever I think of a decision I’ve made that I regret, I flash on a time when I was living in Washington, D.C., interning with a lobbying group. It was an especially lofty moment in my own personal trajectory: I was learning the nuts-and-bolts of lobbying; I spent considerable time on Capitol Hill, taking all the theory a political science major had and placing it in a very real context. Halfway through my tenure, the group I was interning with offered me a position when my internship ended. They were going to help get me into

HUMAN POTENTIAL

Choosing The Best Possible Life I thought that was pretty nifty when I first encountered it 15 years ago. Today, I still think it is practical wisdom wrapped in a nutshell. At the beginning of each year, we should stop and consider the choices we have made – and can still make, however old we are – so that we can have the best possible lives. My Career in 300 Words When I was a child, I wanted to be many things – a policeman, a circus strongman, and a writer. Movie-generated illusions I had about the excitement and romance of such professions formed these ambitions. My early work experience was very dull, since my youthfulness and poverty limited my job choices. I had a paper route. I worked in the delicatessen down the street and in a car wash on the other side of town. During my high school years, I worked weekends and summers as a grunt for hire, cleaning out warehouses, shoveling snow, painting houses, etc. In college, my buddies and I started our first real business, installing aboveground pools all over Long Island. We had four crews running simultaneously, made what seemed like tons of money, and had fun. It was a very good introduction to entrepreneurship, but I knew it wasn’t going to be my career. After getting a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan, I enrolled in the Peace Corps and went to Chad (in north-central Africa) for two years. There, I taught English literature at the University of Chad in N’Djamena. In addition to teaching, I did some writing on the side (editing the Peace Corps newsletter and writing a book on local oral poetry) and got great enjoyment from it. So when I returned to the states in 1977, I began looking for a job as a writer. I got one with a small newsletter publishing company in Washington, D.C. I was initially happy with that work, but after several years of doing the same research and writing virtually the same story every week, I told my boss I wanted to run his business. He agreed, and I did it. Two years later, I became the editorial director for a larger business in Florida. A year after that, I became my boss’ partner. That, in a nutshell, is the history of my career. I have put it in front of you to make a point: The “what to do” in my life was not the result of thoughtful choice but of expedient decisions based on circumstances. It took me to a good place eventually, but the path, in retrospect, seems half accidental. I believe that is true for most of us. We begin with youthful dreams. They dissipate with experience. We take a job to make ends meet, and then another to improve

LIFE QUAKE™

Ask the

LifeQuake™ Doctor Dr. Toni Galardi

Dear Readers: As a change management expert, Spring always inspires me to look at what changes I want to make that have been germinating during the winter months. One of those changes for me is to presence my work as an astrologer publicly more strongly along with my coaching and psychotherapy practice. I have been afraid to completely go public and yet my guidance is pushing me to do this. I am also refocusing on dream analysis as we are in a time of great collective change and the collective unconscious is speaking through all of us now. In the spirit of that, I would like to offer to you all to send in dreams and your birth date, time, and place of birth along with the challenge you would like my advisement on. Dear Dr. Toni: I was involved with a very powerful, wealthy man for two years but he demanded the relationship be uncommitted after telling me he wanted to marry me in the first 3 months. By then, I was hooked. I allowed myself to love another like I had never before. He provided great emotional and financial support and I opened myself to exploring my sexuality as I had not before. In the past, I rejected the suggestions of any man who wanted to tie me up or take videos of us making love. With him, I allowed myself to do this and now we have transitioned our relationship. He is seeing another woman now and I have asked him for the videos to be returned to me. He refuses to grant my wish. I feel vulnerable about this being in his possession in spite of the fact that he has sworn to me he would never show them to anyone. I don’t know what to do

All adventure is risk. Did you grow and expand in your sexuality from this relationship? Acknowledge him for the catalyst that he was. to get them back from him. I would appreciate any feedback you have to offer. A Recovering Fifty Shades of Gray Girl Dear Reader: I can totally appreciate your feelings of vulnerability. I am not going to chastise you for putting yourself into this level of exposure but I will say this. Learn from this. Part of recovering from love and sex addiction is to not allow yourself to agree to do anything that could potentially hurt you. Obviously, there are many unknowns in a relationship in terms of what in the future will hurt you but if one does anything that has future repercussions like sex tapes do, and you know you would be uncomfortable if his iphone or computer was stolen, don’t do it. Now, having said that, let’s look at this from a positive. You had not been adventurous before. All adventure is risk. Did you grow and expand in your sexuality from this relationship? Acknowledge him for the catalyst that he was. Let him know how this is hurting you because you cannot feel at peace knowing this is out there. And then, surrender the outcome. Do a release ceremony of holding you both in divine love and seeing the current relationship dissolving while a new relationship is crystallizing. I would also suggest no contact for a while to let your heart heal. Celebrate yourself for having taken a great journey. Don’t let this video incident taint the love you had for him and what you got to discover in yourself. Hold the video in your mind’s eye as protected and without incident from this moment forward. Dear Dr. Toni: Valentine’s Day sucked. My boyfriend broke up with me right before. How do I not dread it coming around next year if I am still single? Valentine Scrooge Dear Reader: Go back and ask yourself, would it have been authentic for us to spend that holiday together? I’m sure there were signs showing you this was coming to a close or had some problems. The way to embrace Valentine’s Day next year with celebration is to go back to the original story of St. Valentine. It is not the Hallmark version. He was imprisoned and decapitated for his stand on having love be a commitment to marriage at a time when the Romans were very polygamous. Next year and actually all year, practice the gift of BEING a valentine. Make yourself a stand for committing to loving everyone full out and taking a stand for only giving your heart now to someone who is ready for a commitment. Take your time discovering that and if you really want BIG love by next Valentine’s Day, it will come to you because you are already, loving yourself and others appropriately. Dr. Toni Galardi is a transitions coach, licensed psychotherapist, author, and astrologer. She can be reached for any questions at DrToni@LifeQuake.net. If you want to consult with Dr. Toni one on one, please call 310-890-6832.

ost people I know who are interested in the word healing do not particularly like the word politics. Healing implies to them something loving, organic and soulful, while politics impliessomething fear based, power addicted, and brutish. For years we have been pouring our

effectively through any traditional means. There is no one to be angry at, for we are all conspirators insome way or the other. The only way to defeat the enemy is tocollectively rise above it. There is no silver bullet for, this prob-lem, nor pat political solution. It is not a medicine we need, but a healing process. The problem is an opportunistic infection that would not have occurred, had the citizenry of the United States not given up its social immune system function in the American body politic. Yet how do we create a new politics—a forcefield of citizens engaged enough to

Yet politics has seemed so dirty, we haven’t even wanted to deal with the subject. Now that is chang-ing. Even if we don’t perceive politics as the most powerful vehi-cle for positive change—and from a spiritual perspective, it clearly isn’t—who can deny how destructive it can be when dominated by the thoughts of fear and shame? The problem is not politics per se, but rather an evil we sense lurking in its house. Evil wears a business suit in the world today, hiding behind pinstripes, smiling away. Our biggest problem is not a person or an institution, but a worldview that threatens to destroy all things. It is a sensibility—a sleazy, seductive way of seeing the world—that has no human conscience nor concern forthe future. The enemy, of course, is America’s false god, our new bottom line, our economic obsessiveness. It is literally beastly, as it would gob-ble up our children, our planet, our freedom itself, to satisfy its appetite for endless control. While it clearly has a stronghold in American politics, its goal is to dominate the world. This problem has become like an inoperable, hidden cancer—always lurking behind this or that, a spider tumor whose root in-side you seems impossible to rout out. We don’t have to worry about what’s hap-pening now; the heartless falls of its own dead weight. Our eco-nomic and political status quo will pass into oblivion, as it represents a state of spiritual sleep. Our task is not to fight it; our task is to ourselves wake up.

INTERVIEW right. My freedom is not free so long as you’re oppressed. We breathe the same air. These two sentences express the same concept.

As we collaboratively design the new world paradigm Vision Magazine interviewed Alan Clements, an author, human rights activist and the first American to be ordained as a Buddhist monk in Burma. He spent time with Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi on his journey to spiritual awakening. We asked him to share these experiences as they relate to the inspiration for his novels and to provide us with some helpful tools as we manifest our new world.

VM: Please tell me about your book A Future to Believe In A: Gladly. I had the sneaking suspicion when my daughter was born that one day she would ask me what were the most important lessons and encounters that I had along the journey of awakening, what were the most important discoveries I had made. That was the birth of the concept and I decided from that question to discover how I would answer her. And so, for the next five years, I composed these little vignettes, what I call the 108 >>>>>>of Activism and Freedom in response to her question. I was also propelled by the question “what is the oxygen of consciousness”? I was inspired by my association over the years with Burma’s Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, and many other great environmentalists, to answer that question with the response of “freedom”, freedom from physical and mental slavery, freedom to decide for ourselves, at

every waking moment, what the next best thing to do could be, independent of an proscribed ideological dogmas. In a way, it was never meant to be read, but it deals with freedom in a way that I hope will stimulate people to think outside the box, and then act outside the box, too. What you and I are doing right now could result in incarceration or torture in some countries, countries within a kind of box, but in cultures like Burma we see people who combine their spirituality with their activism in such a way that they peacefully confront the structure of oppression. Many of them go to prison, but all that I have interviewed over the past decade respond in chorus - that you can imprison a body, but you cannot imprison a soul. Dignity is the equipoise of the spirit, to be found between each in-breath and outbreath, and where no physical freedom can be found, another kind of freedom, the oxygen of consciousness, acts as a surprisingly active weapon of light in it’s own

VM: Are these the teachings of the World Dharma Institute? A: World Dharma looks for an operative way synergize existing ideologies and cultures in ways that have never been done before, in ways that help people transcend their personal ideas of the world, especially in terms of music. Music brings people together and helps them dissolve the barriers that separate us. The teachings of the Dharma institute proscribe removing oneself from the comfort of the imposed dogma, they proscribe attempting to feel something different than the confined, twisted comfort of our cultural fear. That study is what we do at the World Dharma Institute. The institute has been a part of my own 50 year study in what it would mean to discover an intimate, often indefinable edge of shared space that isn’t cliché, that isn’t comfortable, that isn’t neatly packaged, and yet represents the confluence of life meeting itself in not just an evolved, but also a liberated scope. VM: I am curious about your book Liberation through Living. A: In a sense, it’s just about knowing what a life of meditation in action is about. It is an exploration of what it means to keep alive my dharma, my spiritual transformational process, in the context of an active life, so that it is dharma in context of living spirituality, in the context of the prism of shared space that sometimes denies, sometimes allows the full color spectrum of freedom to evolve. In becoming radically discerning, my dance became deeply intuitive. And it all comes back to children for me. The children and the trees the youth and the new born that are going to continue to live here. One rape is too many on earth. One war is too many. When you see 250,000 people who have been killed in a war, 25,000 girls who have been systematically raped in Bosnia, you realize there is something going on in the collective human mind, what you might even call the gaia-sphere if you feel so inclined, that needs serious attention. VM: After working for decades in human rights and specifically women’s human rights, I feel that there has to be a rising up. How can we change hearts that are so dark? A: That is a very important question. I think we have to become unthinkably intolerant to the propaganda of violence. It’s one thing to see the man or the woman who pulls the trigger but we need to see the deep connectivity of that trigger to the finger that pulls the trigger, to the hand that’s a part of the finger, to the arm that’s a part of the hand, and so on, until we arrive all the way to the question of “who makes the trigger and the bullet”? Where did the metal come from who shapes it into a barrel who builds the gun? We need

to be aware of who the leaders we elect are, and we need to know whether or not they believe that violence is the means to our ends. We need new forms of protest. Look at how the Occupy movement upset the status quo of the election. VM: Most Americans don’t expend the energy to research these things. A: That is one of the reasons I am going back to Burma: to keep these voices alive and bring them to the world. A team of us are going back into Burma in a month to do a new edition of my book with Aung San Suu Kyi called “The Voices of Hope: Lessons in Liberation”. These people have lived through the most oppressive conditions, and they are victorious two and a half decades later. There is an epic transition from dictatorship to democracy, and it is spiritually infused with two and half decades of action using mind over matter, meditation over metal. One of the greatest challenges we face is in knowing how to keep our minds from being coopted by dogmatic propaganda. Enlightenment is a form of totalitarianism. It’s an absolutism. Claiming enlightenment is another form of rule by the right of heaven. Radical discernment such as this often leads to being ostracized and ridiculed out of favor, to not getting advertisers, to not selling anything and being marginalized, because you do not subscribe to the enlightenment doctrine. Those who speak up and out are the biggest weapons and the biggest threats to society and so they are incarcerated and put in jail. In the US, those who could be our most radical allies are often co-opted into becoming supporters of the enlightenment monolith. How to change this? Practice the basic attributes of spiritual self-defense. Become spiritual and politically proactive in your freedom so that you actually use your freedom and spread revolutionary ideas by the use of freedom. Freedom begets freedom, violence begets violence. It’s discernable, radically discernable, it can be discovered, and it can be practiced. VM: I admire you because to a certain degree, I’ve published this magazine for 15 years, and its important, but I haven’t been in the battle-ground. A: I know your field to some extent, but what I’m trying to say is: you have no one controlling what you say or do other than your own mind. You can read into advertisers that you like and don’t like, you can put anything you want on the cover and you can publish. Although it might not last forever, that type of liberty is real empowerment. I think I try to put out messages that are real for me, but by and large, there will only ever be a small percentage of people in our lives that really get us, but it is as Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful people can change the world - Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” That’s a very missing element in the movement, the idea that if we really knew the power of intimacy in a shared idea, we could move mountains. VM: I have to ask you, are you an active Buddhist? A: No, I’m not. I’m a recovering Buddhist! I have not in any way connected to -isms of any kind… or cults or scenes or anything that dictates one single path to the infinite. Today, the issue of universality is almost cliché, but that’s why world dharma, world music, is something larger than the attire that we wear. And although I have a remarkable respect for the dharma that I’ve encountered in my life, the dharma meaning the architecture of freedom, I can’t attribute it to any one source. And so I just feel like the best form of Buddhism is to just learn it and then forget it. Qualities of love and compassion are not American anymore than they are Burmese or Tibetan. The less we refer to them in local terms, religious terms, the better off we are, because concepts of nationality and culture placed into ideological religious contexts become like viruses. The concept congeals around the label, and the next thing you know, we’re willing to kill in the name of it. We’re willing to kill in the name of America. I think its one of the great virtues of spiritual self to see that freedom is the issue, freedom is oxygen without which our ability to radically discern asphyxiates itself. It’s freedom that allows us to kiss, to hold, to make love, to be intimate, to break bread, to grow, to learn. It’s something in and of itself that has unthinkable power. It gives us the context to utilize the gift of life. Meditation, spirituality, gives us the

HUMAN POTENTIAL Interview with Alan Clements Continued from page 13 gift of freedom to explore the environment of totality, our bodies and our minds. That exploration of life is, to me, the edge of where life and god and existence have meaning. It’s not in finding a resolution to the debacle of birth. It’s in finding a reason to remove the proclivity in men to harm themselves and others. I don’t see what spirituality can mean to anyone unless it’s rooted in how one discovers the mechanism at the core level of why violence occurs. It’s a driving force. That’s why I truly admire and respect the Buddhist tradition. It does address that issue. Why is there violence? And how can I understand the role of my consciousness in the proliferation of violence and its opposite non-violence? Buddhism kept me so in awe for nearly a decade, but after a while, you outgrow these things and you start to emerge. Once you’re an astronaut, it doesn’t mean you constantly want to be in outer space. And once you’ve done DMT or acid, you don’t constantly want to be there or do it all over again, either. What radically discerning spiritual practice does is teach you to realize that there is no limit to the transcendental just as there is no limit to the personal here and now, the being in the world, in action. When you do ayahuasca, you pick up a kind of telephone, you get the message, but you don’t therefore constantly go reinventing telephones, making a preoccupation out of looking at jaguars and trees, thinking it’s all some kind of symbolic reference to totality, at least not all the time. Buddhism has its’ value, but there are lots of other things in the world, in the universe, that in my humble opinion far transcend the experiences within that motif. VM: I feel in so many ways at least in the US people have lost dignity in living. What does Dignity look like on a personal level for you? AC: You take a woman, like my young daughter, and you have them in their own symbolic way, constantly shaped by values, by sizes and shapes and inclinations, by smells, being formed in terms of what’s

considered beautiful and what’s ugly. These values shape dignity? And dignity here is the unconditional ability to understand what true worth is, what beauty is. It is as Keats said – “Beauty is truth, truth beauty”. I don’t know what beauty is, but I have suspicions about what it is not. Beauty is not the consumer culture of adapting to the hierarchy of insight within monolithic cultural spiritual traditions. That whole game is bogus, the whole notion of breast size, body size What is the dignity of a person who is dying of obesity? How can he or she still redeem that part of themself that isn’t consumed by the belief that they’ve failed? There is redemption in the establishing of a new order, in the fall of the affluent tower of wealth and prestige, of death and disease. We are dying inside of emptiness because we have no relationship to dignity that isn’t qualified by praise and blame and shame and loss and gain and all the things that society tells us are the reasons to believe that we are good and bad, beautiful or ugly. So unconditional dignity is perhaps the greatest metaphor that we have. Q: It is but I’ve never really heard anyone talk about it. A: Well that’s all being preoccupied in the moment you know. Dignity is an evolutionary process, one that comes into being as we go, manifesting as a cocreation between everyone on earth as we live not just for the moment, but for future moments, and for the well-being of other. Dignity is available as a personal educational process. It doesn’t need to be found in monasteries or in loin-cloths, or in yoga studios alone. I practice yoga every day but what is the perfection of yoga? I’ll give you an example that is practical. During the last year of the war in Bosnia, a million people were surrounded within 10 miles by genocidal forces. 500,000 people lived on the street in the dead of winter without anything but what they had carried on their backs for months, if not years, before fleeing the areas they had been born and grew up in. In the evening, I would venture out and go to underground coffeehouses or tea shops or night clubs that still stayed awake and alive and dynamic during the war.

And there was very little left in culture except people’s humanity, the hope that tomorrow will work out, that this, too, would pass. There was no positive spin that was going to make it work, there was no conference meeting happening anywhere in the world resolving to do anything to rescue these people. So what they had was themselves. They had what was the last bastion of action against global inertia and disregard, and so they kept their individuality alive by dancing, living. In these clubs they would dance, and their rule of thumb was “let no two of us dance in the same way”. So they kept freedom alive by empowering the dignity of individuality. That was what gave them hope. That liberty of inner dwelling is the experience that I have come to see as the empowerment of dignity that is virtue in our dharma lives. How to live in the knowledge that tomorrow may bring, rape, murder, and the burning of my home, how to ward off that great evil through unconditional self respect that respects you as equal to me? dignity in action. That’s how. It so simplifies the whole spiritual journey, you barely have to be present for it. It is ever present. You can not fear that having a mind occupied by the future is somehow contraband to an empowered presence in the moment. Breathing takes place whether you’re in the moment or not, it’s not something you should have to worry about. It’s innate. Dignity when we innately occupy it, know it from an early age, and evolve into a more respectful relationship with it, is with us. It’s our refuge, and it’s our breath. I think that to me, if there’s something I’ve ever learned in my 30 years of world travel and spiritual journeying, it’s that. That’s what I’m trying to put forth. What I’d say to my daughter is, “listen, know your own worth and no one can do anything to you”. Hopefully, someone’s going to be the next Magellen, discovering worlds and dimensions beyond our plane of existence that we can all access, that make this little biosphere, this very vulnerable area of the universe not so vulnerable. We need to find a safer place in the cosmos. I’m really interested in space travel. Inner and outer space travel are big to me. If we are not investigators of the unknown, what are we?

Aries: World (8 of Wands) A great time to tie up any loose ends and get to those tasks you’ve been avoiding. This month will fly by, and if you’re not keeping up, there will be a price to pay. For you dreamers, this could be a potentially successful time for your visions, but you must apply action now! By the week of the 18th, what you’ve prepared will successfully come to completion and you will be rewarded! For those in relationship, this is a great time to rekindle the passion by doing something exciting and outside the norm of routine. Taurus: Wheel of Fortune (Knight of Wands) What started as a small inspiration is on its way to a grand vision. The new moon on the 11th is an auspicious time for taking action on your visions, remember though, the thoughts you give attention to will grow, whether or not they are positive. Be intentional! When you’re motivated by fear, you’re reactions are sloppy and all too often lead to regrets. Channel your feelings into productive behavior that supports you. Most importantly, take this time to explore exciting ideas and experiences. From this a new phase of life and a new image of yourself will emerge. Gemini: Strength (7 of Cups) The challenges you will encounter this month would best be managed through the flexibility of your character rather than by the illusion of control. Move with the tides, not against them, and you will find your natural flow. An enduring situation may result in a seemly undesirable situation, but rather than avoid it, imagine how you can recreate it in a better light. The goal is to transform your problems into solutions through compassion, not control. Around the 22nd, an unexpected romance will likely sweep you away. Have fun, but don’t get too caught up – it’s only temporary. Cancer: Hanged Man (10 of Pentacles) A pending financial or family matter is likely to cause great frustration and strain. Your patience will be tested as there’s really not much you can do initially to force a solution. Step back from the situation and you’ll discover an option you didn’t know was available. When it seems like there’s no hope for change, you begin to realize how much you yourself are that change. There won’t be much action on the home front for those dealing with domestic or real estate issues, but don’t get discouraged: around the 11th an unexpected opportunity will arise. Leo: Emperor (5 of Cups) You know more than anyone about the responsibility of power and what to do when faced with a challenge. Keeping this in mind, stay flexible at this time or you may inadvertently hurt someone close to you. Beneath the veneer of strength is someone who wants respect, so don’t get triggered by a power play. Instead, be an example to those around you, even if you’re enmeshed in a troublesome pattern. Composure is the key this month – be sure to maintain yours, come what may. Around the 3rd an important lesson, and likely a new acquaintance, will emerge. Virgo: Devil (8 of Pentacles) It has been said that “mistakes are the portals of discovery.” And if you avoid these mistakes, you’ll lose your opportunity for growth. There may be some severe challenges this month that require careful clean-up. Don’t let worry cloud your judgment. Something you recently overlooked may result in unexpected consequences. Be sure to deal with this immediately because the results could benefit you in ways you never imagined. The 4th offers you an experience to rectify an old issue. Whether this is situational or otherwise, if you act from a place of integrity, you’ll release a lot of pent-up stress.

Libra: Magician (2 of Swords) Your hard work has paid off and you’ll receive recognition and rewards. A vision you’ve been holding is ready to execute; use your skills wisely. You have more charisma and confidence than ever before and it is important to strut your stuff. For those working on personal goals and self-improvement, this is your moment of glory as insights fall from the sky like golden rain. For you pessimistic types, let this month show you the endless possibilities that exist when you believe in your own capabilities. The 13th is a magical day on which you’ll be surrounded by meaningful signs. Scorpio: Judgment (Queen of Pentacles) Because of your strong emotions, the ability to look at a situation clearly and objectively doesn’t always come naturally to you. Those feelings are responsible for your beliefs, and currently need to be challenged. Your current job situation may not be providing you the type of fulfillment you desire, but the security keeps you attached. Be honest about your intentions and remain confident that you will find a well-paying job that you love. The problems you are experiencing are because of your control issues more than you realize. You must be willing to acknowledge the part you play in creating your problems before you can solve them. Sagittarius: High Priestess (King of Cups) This month you are more attuned than usual to the mysterious impulses of the unseen world. At this time there is new information emerging, although at first it may confuse or even scare you, remain open to what you feel. It is imperative to pay attention to the messages if you are to understand their meaning. To do so you must follow your intuition and pay attention to the signs. Look beyond what is evident and sense your way through circumstances. A person of great intrigue will enter your life around the 7th; stay grounded or you’ll easily be swept away. Capricorn: Death (10 of Wands The sun has set on some area of your life. In letting go of this scene, you’ll release tension and some of the negative thought patterns attached. Often, endings are mistaken as a loss of something; yet, in the sheer experience alone, a new perspective can be gained and you forever changed. If you can detach from your expectations long enough, the bigger picture is always visible. The weekend of the 22nd is a time for goodbyes. Be gracious and remember that it is only when you try to control the flow of life that pain is inescapable. Aquarius: Hermit (6 of Pentacles In the deepest recess of your soul there is the effervescent light of wisdom, and, through the many trials and tribulations encountered, you develop a deeper understanding of this knowledge. Situations that seem unfair are simply out of balance with your understanding of this wisdom. Before pointing the finger or bending over backwards, determine what is most appropriate for you. Be honest with what you are giving in relation to what you are receiving; it may be time to step it up or cut it out. Your actions will fall under scrutiny around the 24th, so don’t be afraid to speak your truth. Pisces: Chariot (King of Wands) Your brilliance shines through this month as you overcome a pending issue. It’s not the success, per se, that’s noteworthy, but rather how you handle yourself in the face of conflict. A disciplined and deliberate approach is best right now. Choose a sensible course of action and follow through. There’s really nothing hard about this, but your fears may try to convince you otherwise. Don’t hesitate when a risky opportunity is presented the first week of the month or it will be given away. Also, be extra patient while driving since there’s a propensity towards accidents.

HUMAN POTENTIAL

What will you do?

osmic consciousness, as Yogananda once called it, is said to be attainable by each and every single one of us. While the experience of it may differ from person to person, the overall effect tends to be one of recalibration, of realizing that we are governed in the biophysical plane by not only mechanical phenomena, but also transcendental phenomena that permeate all known things living and inert. Many mystics throughout history have discussed it, masters who we have then glorified, canonized and turned into religious saints so that we could immortalize their traditions to preserve the knowledge, the wisdom attained in the blissful state of gnosis. Pure spiritual knowing has a habit of becoming doctrine and dogma that people eventually crystalize into fervent faiths having the counter-intuitive effect of leading us into eventual ignorance of the original intent: evolution. But alas, even among our missteps lie valuable lessons that eventually enrich our journey towards trying to understand who we are, where we are, and where we are going. Homosapiens are resilient creatures, capable of thinking creatively as we attempt to reconcile intuitive wisdom with practical concerns, able to turn an abstract notion into a physical reality. We are able to discern the subtle and gross laws of our physical universe by clever yet empirical observation and the increasingly sophisticated tools we are given to help us deepen and expand our observations. Today, the media is rife with talk of the coming of a new time, a new age where radical and drastic changes will sweep an outdated paradigm

underneath the cosmic rug. The infamous December 21st, 2012 has passed and it has left many of us wondering: what do we do now? We live in an age where the CERN particle collider has made major strides in our understanding of science. The Pope resigning makes way for radical institutional changes that may storm the French Bastille’s of our once held ironclad like beliefs. People are marching in the streets worldwide and the media is rife with new discoveries on a daily basis. Yes we face many challenges as a human species all across the spectrum and plenum of society and existence, but perhaps it is that which we perceive to be our challenge that will truly end up teaching us about our human potential. As we (should) all come to know in this world, potential is nothing without having earned genuine progress by way of active participation and capitalization on the strengths and opportunities that lay before us as we learn intimately from the history of our mistakes. No one is going to give us this change for free, so we must ourselves play an active role by becoming the change we seek. In a short period of a few thousand years, a blip in the history of the universe, we have made uncanny progress in our scientific worldview and yet major world problems persist. The irony of Quantum physics, the prima ballerina of scientific rationalism, is that, in the end, our ability to quantify with any modicum of absolute certainty must be relegated to the realm of wishful thinking. And so much of what we experience makes us wonder if there was ever a difference between spirituality and science, wishful thinking and empirical observation in the first place. Perhaps in the true observer-creates-reality sense of the word, by actively looking for answers we have simultaneously created the circumstances that enable us to make the changes we so desperately need to find those answers. By opening Pandora’s box to seek answers to the mysteries of life, we have collapsed the “wave-potentialities” of Quantum Physics into logical probabilities which then transform into discernible phenomena that we can analyze by the means available to us at the time. In a “Copenhagen Interpretation” scenario, the simple act of attempting to measure and analyze may actually cause probability to become one of the possible values. So long as we seek constant philosophical and scientific refinement, attunement and progress, this process may be ultimately infinite, thus potentially making our human potential for progress limitless. Segregation and compartmentalization in the early days was very crucial to understanding the various aspects of the physical sciences. It is still a necessary aspect to our development and we do need people embarking on concentrated treks of intellectual advancement. But, we know enough now where fields will also begin to merge. Electricity and magnetism are two sides of a multiple sided coin, but we would not know that if we didn’t perform experiments to figure it out. As we progress, we may come to understand better why ancient practices

like eastern medicine and meditation work in the way they do. While Segregation and compartmentalization will still have relevance, the development of a unified field will force us to work together and ponder the age-old saying that everything is connected. With instant connectivity at the touch of computer buttons, we no longer have excuses to not work together to solve the world’s problems. Imagine if large groups of people around the world managed to synchronize their thoughts, emotions, beliefs and intent to change any given aspect of our society. Connectivity is the way of the future and the doorway into our human potential. It is already integrated into all our technological and information sourcing. But in my opinion there is an even greater, more organic kind of connectivity- an inner-net of sorts. There are plenty of examples and modern stories of things being discovered around the same time. Scientifically we do not understand exactly what or how it works but with concepts like mirror neurons, noetic sciences, and quantum entanglement becoming a reality it may not be too far-fetched to assume there is a natural connectivity between all things entangling us in the web of Cosmic consciousness. Nikolas Tesla, one of the greatest scientists of the early 20th century, once remarked, “though free to think and act, we are held together, like the stars in the firmament, with ties inseparable. These ties cannot be seen, but we can feel them.” Tesla, like Jacques Fresco of the Venus Project, was an engineer far ahead of his time. They both envisioned a utopian world made sustainable through natural and organic technologies completely in harmony with nature. What is the character of the bottleneck situation we find ourselves in, surrounded by so much useful information and yet prevented from realizing our participation in this perpetual state of progress? Let us for a moment compare a “belief system” to something akin to the Kaballistic concept of a “garment.” Belief systems are, in a manner of speaking, vessels of understanding- we utilize them like ships to sail the seven seas, to sail the dimensional waters. We now realize our ships may never sail the sky, that we stand on a precipice where our belief system of unlimited technological progress meets with the reality of the earths resources, that our shipbuilding, our garment-making, has forgotten the ultimate spiritual purpose that we originally undertook to take. So, we have to build a new kind of vessel, a new kind of belief system, shedding ourselves of the psycho-physiological blueprints that pull us back inside the bottle because belief systems, like clothes, can become outdated, worn and torn. But, as human beings, we tend to make up our mind about things, patterns of thinking get set and, as we get older, the neuroplasticity of our brains also diminishes due to a decrease in experiential novelties reforming stagnant neuronal connections. We find comfort in what we recognize and display social psychologist Leon Festinger’s cognitive dissonance when new evidence emerges that disrupts things that we held to be true - we deny the reality of it. Naturally, the concept of the garment applies to our physical form, our body and our brains, as that which with we choose to clothe our spiritual selves, and our bodies are, indeed, the biggest of our bottles, that which we cling to not unlike babies, afraid to embrace the immaterial plenum coursing through and woven within the material existence we hold so dear. Our bodily garment is essentially the medium for the creative spark of all that exists to take shape due to the intent of the spiritual self to will itself into this particular existence, this one of many extant dimensional planes. If only we could see it. The universe is in a constant state of flux and our environmental and sociopolitical institutions mirror the ever-changing constants of nature. Today we hear about the idea that thoughts and feelings may actually have energetic properties that influence the world around us as well as our own personal realities. In this sense, each thought or emotion also becomes a vessel with which you can alter your

HUMAN POTENTIAL reality and bring the truths of the subconscious to light, taking action through your art. What happens when entire belief systems garner thoughts and emotions that ultimately become actions, actions that become detrimental to the health of our planet and even to us? As Einstein remarked, “we can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” The application of our new and improved world point-of-view requires constant gardening and revising. The ability to think creatively, to adapt to new belief systems and make them manifest in a way that is practical to our way of life is our greatest asset. How we can adopt less concrete belief systems in order to continue to inspire our search to understand the mystery of who we are and our role in the universe? We often deride such a point of view “mystical”, failing to recognize that the tenets of our seemingly concrete worldview were actual made out of the mist as well. We must acknowledge and embrace the dualistic aspect of nature, the two hemispheres of the brain (logical and abstract), the yin and the yang as equally important if we are to thrive as human beings. After all we are not merely biological robots (much though some may seek to prove it) - we carry the ability to exercise passion and change society with the ideas conjured up or bestowed on us by the imagination. This process is ever evolving like a fractal, with the leading but separated edges being those pioneering ideas that will eventually become the integrated whole. Like the fractal this process is also infinite and I believe for us to understand what lies at the core of our potential we must embrace this infinite process of discoveryknowing full well that what was once in the corner of our imagination as fantasy can and may become utterly real. We will come to find that what we hold to be an unequivocal “fact” will become fiction in a few years’ time. As human beings we will realize that maintaining a sense of logical discernment with a flexible quality of plasticity will become an integral facet to our true human potential. We like to take away the mysticism of things by understanding the mechanics- but that doesn’t truly make what we seem to “know” any less of a miracle, precisely because our sense of knowing is only temporary. It is not difficult to discern, by analyzing world events and situations, that we stand on the precipice inevitable change. We have reached a kind of zenith in which the old ways (vessels) that we have relied on for centuries to carry us through the turbulent seas of life are no longer serving us but hampering our limitless human potential. If our potential increases dramatically when we connect to one another regardless of surface-level differences, then it will be important to analyze what kind of dirigible belief boats we barely keep afloat on that promote hate, racism and bigotry so that we can replace them with Zeppelins, blimps and psychophysical cold-air balloons. If there was ever a time for new paradigms to flourish and prove their worth, it would be right about now. Human potential is all about finally coming to grips that we really are the ones we have been waiting for. The responsibility of the well-being of our planet and ourselves as biological beings falls squarely onto us. The human potential is capable of just about anything- what will you do with yours? HUMAN POTENTIAL

By Mathew Smith How do we reach our potential?

P

otential is all around us. It is abundant in every kernel of our experience. Anyone who has seen MacGyver knows that if your the right person in the right situation you can make a hot air balloon out of homemade glue, random scraps of nylon, a metal shed, and some gas canisters and fly off to safety (Season 3, Episode 6). MacGuver sees the potential in everything and thus always gets to his destination. If you can pick the right lotto ticket you can change your financial status instantly. The potential is there for anything to happen right now, if only we can see it. Our potential is unknown to us, it is an every expending mystery whose corners always go deeper. So if we are to reach our potential, how do we figure out where to go? How will we get there? Your Destination Dictionary.com defines “Potential” as “possible but not yet actual.» How do we find something which isn›t actually there? Scott M. Peck says in The Road Less Travelled, “The more clearly we see the reality of the world, the better equipped we are to deal with the world. ...our route to reality is not easy. First of all, we are not born with maps; we have to make them.” In order to get anywhere you have to define where you are going. This is the map that Peck is talking about creating. Even if you don’t know where it is you want to be you should at least have a general idea of what you are looking for. Are you looking for love? joy? wealth? a challenge? a new beginning? something never done before? To begin to solve this mystery you must start your map first by drawing out your current location. The part of your map that says “You are here.” Where are you right now? What have you accomplished already? What opportunities do you see around you? Second, you need to have a general idea of which direction you need to head. What do you want? What is the highest possible place you imagine you could be. What 18 V I S I O N M AG A Z I N E • M a r c h 2 013 • v i s i o n m a g a z i n e .c o m

obstacles are going to make this path interesting? The main effort here comes in discovering these extremes. The challenge is to find a destination between the here and now and your imagination’s dreams which you can define and grasp and which will bring you closer to your limitless potential. Give up on thinking that there is just one destination to go to. There is no end game, no final monster at the end of the game of life. We can’t go many places at once (yet) but you try to go in the direction that brings you the most of what you want. Just know that this will change, you may decide you have chosen the wrong destination, even the very moment you set out. Be prepared to steer your ship in new directions constantly. Constantly search for that hidden potential and be excited at the new destination it reveals to you. It is this journey that makes life. No destination is worth abandoning your potential over. Just pick a destination and be prepared to change it when it no longer suits your dreams. This destination is the first part of your ceremony. It could be: “pass my class,” “keep the chores done,” or “finish that book I’ve been reading.” Write you destination down to define it. Around your destinations description write your name and favorite symbols. Associate yourself with your destination. Keep this paper or object and make it part of your ceremony if you choose. Your Vehicle If we think of life as a train on railroad tracks that must go to one place then the second something gets on the tracks the whole train could derail. It is important to have a proper vehicle, one which can change directions and adapt to all the possibilities you might encounter. In the physical world our vehicle is our body. Our system of science uses it’s knowledge to construct vehicles where our current body will not go. With the limitations of our flesh body it would seem to the ignorant that man could not go faster than a cheetah, higher than and eagle, deeper than a squid and farther than the moon. Automobiles, Airplanes, Submarines, and Space Craft all take us places that would not be possible without the knowledge of our scientific systems. In Pansha Kosha there are five bodies of man: physical body, vital(emotional) body, mind(memory) body, bhudda(higher thought) body, and the Cosmic(Divine Body). The Tree of Life has 10 sephiroth consciousnesses within the one unified man. Psychology has the ego, id, and super-ego. It goes to show that to explore destinations that are beyond physical reach one must construct a vehicle that can navigate the realms these bodies occupy as the vehicles of science explore the realm of physical existence. Often our destinations are in these other realms “joy” is in the emotional realm, “invention” in the intellectual realm and “imagination” in the highest of realms, furthest from our physical existence. We want all of these things and we cannot hope to get to any of them in a space ship. So how do we make such a vehicle? There are hundreds, even thousands of systems out there which explore these other realms of conscioussness. Some work better than others for different individuals. There are therapies, magical systems, philosophical road maps and too many more self help systems and philosophies to list. Not one of them will be

Interview

Devin Grace This is an important day for me. I have released such significant elements from my life and in the process I have been returned to myself.Have you ever had someone come into your life whose very presence helps you remember what is important? Who you are?Devin Grace is that person for me. Her discerning integrity and amazing humanity are apparent in her loving and trusting heart. Every time I speak to her, I am reminded of why I have turned to her over and over again. She cuts through the nonsense and she is pure of heart. She helps people all over the world as a consultant. Devin’s life has been filled with much accomplishment and service to others; she is a gift to our world.I can tell you I have experienced true healing. Her work with spirit depossession is very powerful and at the same time so healing. I have to admit that the word “depossession” was very intimidating – maybe because I really didn’t understand it in its true sense – but again, it is a gift. All of Devin’s work is from love. Devin Grace has shown me true healing in my life. Her depossession work is just another layer of who she is, which is one of the brightest lights on the planet. Her work is seminal at this point in all the lives of you or I who have been struggling. We don’t need to be in any kind of pain or discomfort. Devin has been healing people for many years, and she has truly propelled me beyond my past or any thoughts of future pain. Sydney Murray

VM: My first question is that I’m curious about your background; I know you have both an academic as well as your spiritual background. DG: I do. I studied business and then psychology at Boston University; after that I received my masters degree from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in spiritual studies, and then for years I trained with healers around the world. I am also trained and certified in many other therapies and modalities,. VM: So did all of this formal and informal education sort of lead you to healing work with your clients, or was that a part of the journey? DG: That was part of the journey. I’ve really been on this path since I was 17, although my psychic abilities have always been quite strong. I have had to spend many years unlearning what I though I knew. VM: Oh yes, like the quote from your email…. DG: Yes – “The more I unlearn what I thought I knew, the wiser I become.” VM: I love that quote. DG: That quote is from my poetry book “Silence Whispers” that was written years ago, and it pretty much sums it up. VM: What would be a typical session? DG: In a typical session, I would immediately go into the most difficult experience a person is having. I would approach it with compassion and love and yet a “no-nonsense” straightforward kind of manner that just cuts to the chase. I’d immediately get information about what’s really going on. The client might come with tons of questions, but those questions are not really why they’re there. That might be part of it, that might be what got them there, but it’s usually so much deeper, so much darker or difficult. With my No-Nonsense Healing Method ™ the sessions are really about helping the client expose what’s there, so that which is exposed can be released. I will know within minutes where the work needs to

go – full-on psychic advising, a multi-life regression, spirit guide regression, or a spirit releasement, or a combination of all of my modalities. And usually immediate release begins. In my sessions, I completely hand myself over and am in service to that client for that time. No one else exists – just me, the client, the guidance and the issues needing to be cleared and healed. Many clients feel as if they are my only clients – they can’t believe the amount of focus, attention and clarity given to them. I kind of see myself as a psychic surgeon. I am usually shown within minutes where the dis-ease or core issue lies. With that information, I make the sharp and precise cut, I clear it out and the healing begins. I don’t waste time. I enter the client’s world 100%. I hear what they hear, I feel what they feel, I know what they know and have known, and I hear a voice from them that speaks directly to me, they don’t even realize they’re speaking to me. Often times I’ll repeat something back to a client, “You just told me…” but totally different words were coming out of their mouths, they can come in and talk all they want about another issue, but another voice will speak to me about the “real issue”. The clients tell me where they’re blocked, but not from their human voice; it comes from a different part of themselves that I have a complete direct connection with during the session. I have complete permission from them during the sessions; a part of themselves that they don’t even know exists. VM: Sometimes you’re just too close to whatever you’re going through. DG: Yes, that’s why we need assistance sometimes, and it is very helpful to have someone who can hear your “other voice”. That voice guides me in the session; I truly believe it is their Higher Self in direct connection with me and their healing. I am certainly not doing all of this on my own, I have a company the size of GM, with all the guides who are helping me – I am just glad I don’t need to provide offices and benefits! People think they’re alone with these issues and they’re not. And the best way to clear any issue is to look at it. You don’t have to look at it for twenty years; look at it for three minutes and let’s clear it. VM: Exactly. Now, I know you’ve been doing this work for quite some time, does any one clients standout? What are some of your success stories? DG: So many clients standout, it makes me want to cry. I can’t tell you how

grateful I am, because Sydney, I know that lives have been saved. It was not me that saved them, but I was a part of it, and there is nothing greater in life than to know that you have assisted in saving a life. I forget about that piece of it. I get so focused on the day-to-day work with clients that I forget about the big picture and how many people have experienced incredible changes and miracles in their lives. I’m so grateful for the work I’m able to do. The examples are endless. VM: So then there’s physical, emotional and spiritual healing. It encompasses everything. DG: It encompasses all of that and beyond. The “beyond” is what we will talk about later in the interview – what you got to experience in your session. VM: I’m curious about the “no-nonsense” method. DG: This interview comes in perfect timing because there is going to be a lot happening right now with my consulting business. I have been teaching my NoNonsense Healing Method ™ for years, but now it has new modalities added to it, and it is a complete certification program. You can’t teach people to be psychic, but I can nurture what someone is already aware of that exists within them. We are all psychic – the difference is in whether someone knows that we are all psychic and wants to develop that skill in themselves more deeply, or could care less if they are psychic, and it is just not of interest to them either way – that doesn’t make them not psychic – it simply makes them uninterested in that part of themselves. I am here to assist and nurture the people who are interested in that aspect of self. We all have that knowledge about what’s happening, even though it may not be apparent to the physical eye or physical ear or to the physical sense. There’s no doubt in my mind that this is absolutely not special. What does make this kind of work unique is when someone has dedicated their life to it. My life is not distracted by a lot of different things; this has been my focus since I was 17 and started my only healing process by seeking out healers around the world. So you can nurture someone’s own natural ability, and if someone is called to do this kind of work, they can be taught a lot of healing modalities to enhance and complement their natural abilities. I have focused my whole world on healing and I have spent my whole life learning to focus this ability. My mind does not miss anything – it is sharp as a tack. I love

HUMAN POTENTIAL Interview with Alan Clements Continued from page 13 Q: Well, I can’t wait to see what happens with ‘The new Voices of Hope”. How long are you going to be in Burma? A: Well, we’re huge on this campaign. I think we’ll go for a month to start and talk to as many people as possible about what they learned from their time in prison, from their time in forced label camps. How did they keep freedom alive? ‘What would you like to share from your experience for generations to come that would give them hope in their moments of inertia or fear?’ I hope to be there a month or maybe two. Q: Is there anything I can do to help, such as putting something up on our website, putting an ad in the magazine, donating, helping get more people over there, or even helping to get the book published. A: Whatever you can do, there is no one taking a stipend or a profit from this project. The more people, the better it is. Whatever you can do to alert your world would be awesome. Q: I would like to do something because I think your work is amazing. I appreciate you and your work. A: If you have any desire to be on the campaign as a co-sponsor, we’re being seen by potentially hundreds of thousands of people. Burma is really fascinating because women have helped lead this inspired revolution. It’s a people’s revolution and very few from the west understand that there is true dharma propelling this revolution. Q: I think a lot of Americans don’t understand, that’s what pisses me off the most, they don’t even understand what they have and they won’t give back, or be of service and its selfish. I feel like if more people understood what was happening in 80% of the world, that maybe it would shake them up, maybe it would wake them up. I’m not sure. A: Hundreds and hundreds in Burma, America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, are working together to change things everywhere the world over, not just in Burma. Whatever I can provide you with that will help you help bring forth activists that value freedom, I will try to provide you with. It’s a book for the people of the world. Q: And we need it now more than ever. Because I do feel that in order to break through to the other side, people need to lose their sense of self. I’ve always been of service to, and worked with, people who were less fortunate. Most people have no idea and they don’t want to know what happens in the ghetto, or in Somalia or Bosnia or Burma, because they want to watch their television. A: Aung San Suu Kyi is a heroine of service for 2 2 V I S I O N M AG A Z I N E • M a r c h 2 013 • v i s i o n m a g a z i n e .c o m

no other reason than that she’s a woman and a mother. She took the metaphor of motherhood from her own nuclear family and expanded that outwards to include all sentient beings, an expansion which is so challenging for me to see. How can I love another child as much as I love my own daughter? Hers is a feminine freedom. a conscious awakening of the feminine dignity. It’s not just a geopolitical issue, it’s the highpoint of the spiritual debate in our presentday modern world. The issue’s resolution could happen quickly, too, if freedom of speech were to be made inviolable the world over, and that’s why your work, in reaching the people, is so powerful. You have a vehicle, a time tested vehicle, and you can unleash freedom in any way that you want to unleash it, proclaiming what freedom of speech means, exemplifying how precious it is, and I think that’s beautiful. As we approach the new world, Alan reminds us to maintain our dignity and individuality, and to embrace our freedom. Whether we are pursuing personal goals or trying to make a difference on a larger scale, it is vital that we exercise our right to be unique and that as humans, we establish an invincible sense of self worth that pervades each of our endeavors. To surrender these freedoms would be to surrender our humanity. As we shift into a new age and encounter the unknown, our humanity is the solidarity we need to succeed. Alan Clements was the first American to ordain as a Buddhist monk in Burma where he lived in a monastery during the 1970s and 1980s. During this time he trained in Buddhist psychology and insight (vipassana) meditation with two of the most respected meditation teachers of the modern era, the Venerable Mahasi Sayadaw, and his successor, Sayadaw U Pandita.

Alan is also a political and spiritual satirist, and performs his monologue, “Spiritually Incorrect: In Defense of Being, Human,” to audiences around the world, as benefits to raise awareness of Aung San Suu Kyi and her country’s ongoing struggle for freedom. www.worlddharma.com

Consciousness has released his third book, “Unlocking The Consciousness of Your Soul.” It is a book that reveals all the whys of you choosing sin, physicality, forgetfulness, and suffering as the means to remember who you truly are. It is a story about where you began eons ago, who you think you are because of your intellect, and how you were lied to, brainwashed, and led astray by those that were closes to you. It is a book that unravels the mystery behind God and your suffering. When you live and make decisions from the mind of reason, your intellect, and from what the experts declare what is best for you, your soul cannot bring forth the wisdom that you hold deep within your consciousness. Thus you become disposed to turbulent experiences. If you are looking for healing, how to create miracles, how to overcome distress, anger, being penniless, or whatever suffering you are experiencing right now, then it becomes important to understand “who you truly are, where you truly come from, and how your soul participates in what you receive in life. HUMAN POTENTIAL

Visions of Transformation By Katie Gallanti

can use life as a path towards fullness, creativity and abundance of spirit/life force expressing, rather than spending years acting out or healing early wounds. While it is and has been part of learning and evolving on planet Earth to encounter catalyst for growth, a form of initiation through challenge that many have had Soul contracts to experience during this wrap up at the end of time (as a method for planetary healing, as one can only heal a planet in the free will zone from the inside), I hold the vision that once our work is done, that we no longer need this method of evolution. And that we can explore the second pathway to growth: the path of creation. May we find way to express the infinite light that each of us is conduit for and manifest that light through the transformational pathway of creativity and beauty. Our planet is a beautiful planet. Filled with luscious nature and flowers and gorgeous animals of all kinds, it is a planet teaming with life. From the macroscopic to the microscopic, every inch of our reality is filled with life. We are not trained to honor this life or to look for the beauty, nor are we trained to create it. Art is often considered a lesser form in education, like a few leaves of salad to garnish the main dish. And even so art is still seen as a product rather than a process. And yet it is the essence of being human to be creative. And the act of creation is inherently healing. Even when used as a way to purge the ugliness of trauma, the art process heals and the results are often turbulently beautiful. Imagine what our world would look like, just a few generations down the line from now, if healing, love, the creative process and beauty were the cornerstones of our society. Our cities would look very different. Our homes would be playgrounds

very time we judge and separate a part of ourselves, we create disharmony and shadow, which then emerges in distorted form. Old religion used to repress sexuality, creating many a closet perv, psychological illnesses and disease. Religion and spirituality, in the lower form, always seem to want to section out something about being human. New age thinking has its own version of this, sectioning out the ego and all that is not “positive”. All parts of the self are worthy of love, and when manifesting as “ego”, evolve when cared to with love. Much talk about ego is judgment towards self and others that leads to separation and rules rather than healing. Berating and separating a part of the self is not a good idea. We don’t evolve by sectioning parts of self, we evolve by healing, integrating and understanding the parts of us that pull in unhelpful directions. There is always a reason for behavior. And most often what many call “ego” is a young self, most often a child self or adolescent self, trying to get its needs met in dysfunctional ways. Find a way to meet the needs of this young self and the behavior evolves. Love self in all its forms, even the parts that are wounded and that behave with dysfunction. Listen and care for these wounded young parts of the self and you will observe that healing begins to occur naturally, working its way towards balanced expression. I envision a world in which there are healing centers rather than prisons and psych hospitals. A little further down the line, I envision a world in which nobody is wounded to the point of acting out pain through psychosis and narcissistic/ sociopathic behavior. Where all children are cared for and nurtured, encouraged in their natural blossoming into the natural blueprint of who they are, so that one v i s i o n m a g a z i n e .c o m • M a r c h 2 013 • V I S I O N M AG A Z I N E 2 9

INTERVIEW Interview with Devin Grace Continued from page 21 that, and my clients benefit from it. VM: It sounds like a lot of work. I don’t want to give people the wrong impression here. Healing and remembering who I truly am is my whole life, but that doesn’t mean I don’t play really hard! I love comedy and improv and travel. I just did an around-the-world trip for six months – what a blast! I played hard and I prayed hard. And now as we do this interview I am living, skiing and working with clients in Vail, CO for the ski season. I have a great balance - it wasn’t always that way; I have been in the trenches like everyone else. I would never, ever, want to go back to my 20’s although there were so many great times and experiences… so much of it was a time of being cleaned out by my own Higher Self, and I can tell you my Higher Self is definitely No-Nonsense! NoNonsense does not mean no-fun; it means be accountable, clear and responsible about your own self, and your own healing – basically, grow the heck up! VM: You have so many clients throughout the world. DG: I do. 80 percent of my work is done by phone – the advising, regression and healing work. The times when I am working in person is during intensive healing visits to clients’ homes, which usually involves a plane trip and a 3-day stay. It is kind of like doing one of my healing retreats, except I come to you. I also work with people in-person when I am in their city, or in my own cities of Maui, LA and Vail, where I do healing retreats throughout the year. I just had a client here in Vail for 9 days; she did 3 hours of sessions a day - mind blowing! I am from NY so I often see clients in NYC. My work is the same whether it’s in person or over the phone. Most of my clients prefer to do it over the phone because it’s convenient, powerful and just so darn immediate. VM: Do you do any hands-on healing? DG: I do. It is very powerful, and again that same work can be done by the phone. I know nothing about anatomy, and have always been horrible at math and science - but I am told what I need to know by what I call the Knowers. They

know so much more than I could ever know; they guide the surgeries, and I am very grateful for ‘their” help! VM: Would you work with more than one person – say, a couple – on the phone or in person? DG: Absolutely! I love, love, love working with couples. It is hard core – no one gets to get away with anything in these sessions. 25% of the couples I work with end up separating. I know that doesn’t sound good, but I’ll tell you what, the 75% who do stay together are happier, stronger and more in love than ever. I tell all the couples I work with, “The goal here is not to keep you together… the goal is to get honest and do some surgery. The surgery might kill the relationship, there is always that chance, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?” In reality, the sessions don’t kill the relationship; the sessions bring what is already dead or poisoning the relationship to the surface. Again, the purpose of all of the work I do is to get honest, because I was told by The Knowers at one point, “the only way to remember the truth of who you are is to get honest with where you are.” I love doing the Advanced Multi-Life Regression with couples – it is a trip! Here are two people and they are holding their hands and they are both in trance giving exact details of the same scene. They are both thinking at the same time what they are seeing at the same time. It is unbelievable. That’s work I love to do; it’s very deep and very immediate. VM: What is Advanced Multi-Life Regression - AMLR™? DG: Any tools that I might have are enhanced by my psychic ability, which makes the work more efficient, and helps eliminate time-wasters. In traditional past life regression you visit one lifetime within a 90- to 120-minute session. In my Advanced Multi-Life Regression™ , or AMLR™, a term I coined for a modality I was guided to develop to assist clients more efficiently – I may be guided to bring a client through 3-6 past, present and even future life regressions. It is amazing! The client is given a really detailed picture of why they are the way they are, or why they do what they do, or why they are with their present partner, or why they have issues with their dad, etc., etc., etc. And not only do the clients get to retrieve the detailed memories of these past lives, they also get to meet with their guides in between each life, and begin to intimately know their guides. There is a communication and they feel immediate comfort in the messages they constantly get from their guides that they are perfect just as they are. No matter if they killed, pillaged, destroyed in a lifetime, there is no judgment… They get to see that the judgment comes 100% from their own mind in all circumstance; there is zero judgment in the spirit world, the world where all is love. They also get to see that their guides are their peers, their is no hierarchy in the world of Love. Perhaps some peers may have retrieved a little more of the memory of who they truly are, but that doesn’t make them better then their students, and that is true in all life teachers are not better, they just have a little more information to share. VM: How do you use regression to become “unstuck” to heal? DG: Regression is an amazing healing tool. When the client’s Higher Self or The Knowers guide me to use it, I know that we are heading into some fun waters! It is so simple, really, to help clients get to a place of relaxation, a place where they can start to reveal to themselves detailed experiences that have led to their current ailment, relationship issue, emotional issues, phobias, you name it. Again, it is mind-blowing to hear these people talk about things that we imagine they cannot know - yet here they are talking about it with such detail, with such authority, because it is their experience. What is different in the work that I do is that my psychic abilities are used in the regressions as well, so someone who is doing a regression session – whether it is an Advanced Multi-Life Regression™ or a Depossesion Regression – my psychic abilities are being used by the clients’ Higher Self to go even deeper and to get more healing work done in a shorter amount of time. VM: Okay you said it, the “P” word, let’s go there! Recently I have been going through a period in my life that I keep describing as ‘the eye of the needle’- personal, professional, and spiritual worlds are being tested…. Amidst all this, divine timing created an opportunity for me to have a Spiritual Releasement session with Devin Grace. Now, just days later, even though I am still in the thick of it, I can feel that healing on all levels has transpired. In considering my session and Devin’s work, I had pondered the word ‘possessed’ and honestly felt a lack of affinity to it. It was somehow too dark and disorienting. Yet, I will never forget being fourteen and how obsessed I became reading The

CONTINUED Possessed by Dostoevsky. Looking back, it was somehow telling that as I read and re-read this very difficult novel, I was fascinated by the intricacies of human despair and triumph. What follows is my personal experience and modern story of depossession.. We started by speaking about my home- I had always seen an old guy in my house out of the corner of my eye so to speak, but when I worked with Devin this older woman, “Ruth”, appeared and she was clear in my mind. When we reached the point of releasing “Ruth”, I watched in my mind’s eye as she went up this escalator of white light that was a highway into the light. Our conversation transitioned and we began exploring a somewhat abstract, red blob looking spirit living in my office. Pretty soon however, the red blob became a white sheep, then an old leather bound book, and eventually an old Indian Sadhu who was in the realm of Gandhi when he walked for peace. Devin let me know this spirit was a shape-shifter, and a teacher of knowledge, truth and love. He still remains in my mind’s eye as a huge presence of love and healing. Up next was an experience I will never, ever forget. I began speaking of my cousin Mitch. When Mitch died years ago, it had a profound impact on me. So much so that I have always felt that in various ways he is trying to show me he is around. So, when in the middle of our conversation, a book fell right off of the bookshelf, I knew that Mitch yet again telling me to live well. be happy and forget the rest. By the end of my session I had encountered my long lost love and released him, as well as two spirits from miscarriages, both traumatic and painful, and forever in my heart and spirit. With each release my heart and mind had an amazing feeling of lightness and great love. I felt my physical body lighten and waves of love, true love rolled through me. As I continue my journey through the needle, and I admit the last few days have proven difficult; I continue to return to that very visceral feeling of love as a soothing form of healing. It is imprinted upon my heart, my mind, and my soul forever. Sydney Murray VM: Devin, can you tell us about your work in Spirit Releasement and Clinical Depossession? DG: Oh yes! I love, love, love this area of my work! Spirit Releasement and Clinical Depossesion is a stunning, light filled and powerful healing process. I can’t gush about it enough. There’s just nothing else like it; each session is so magical. But, and it’s a big but.. The unfortunate thing is most people will never seek out this type of treatment simply because of the stigma attached to the word “depossession”. You know Sydney, I love film and movies, and overall I believe movie making is a service to human kind. However, movies like “The Exorcist”, which scared the living $#%@ out of most us, imprint the mind so fiercely that it takes years to undo that experience and potentially change our opinion of what was visually imprinted on the psyche. I have studied this subject voraciously, from depossession training and certification, to direct work with my clients in depossession regressions, not to mention reading all sorts of literature and case studies related to the topic. In all of this, I have never even come close to witnessing a Spirit Releasement of the sort dramatized by The Exorcist- it is very, very, very rare. What I actually see most are disoriented, lost, spirits who have no idea what is going on, wandering around aimlessly, stuck in places they don’t know how to get out of because they don’t even know they are there! I have to break it down, explain the whole picture of where they are and what’s happening.. Truly when they hear that they are harming the person they’ve attached to in whatever way, they actually feel bad! I have never come across a truly mal-intentioned spirit! Just like there are all kinds of people and personalities in the world, there are all kinds of earthbound spirits, some are kind and gentle and some are tired and ornery; but, they all have a conscience and I treat them with the same compassionate, no-nonsense approach as I do all my clients. These spirits find me because they can trust me; I recognize they each have their own issues and need my particular healing skills. They know I am not afraid of them, and they know I can help them home -permanently- so, I get to work. The way I look at it is that these spirits may be your “seemingly” deceased mother, father, grandmother, child, lover wouldn’t you want to help guide them home? Now let me just preface the rest of this interview with the simple fact that you do not have to believe in what I do or what we are talking about for Spirit Releasement

and Depossession to occur. It’s no different than not needing to believe in God in order for God to love you. I am not here to prove that earthbound spirits exist or even to prove that the process of spirit release therapy and depossession actually work. Rather, I am only here to offer my very no-nonsense, no fluff, effective, and efficient services in dealing with this issue because whether you believe it or not, Spirit Releasement and Depossession work just the same – it’s that simple. VM: Does every one have a spirit attachment, or possession? No. However, according to specialists and authors in many areas of medicine, psychology and other healing professions, over 60% of people have a “visitor” spirit hanging around or attached. So, it should come as no surprise that for centuries, in over 90 countries around the world, some form of spirit release and depossession therapy can be found in practice. Consider Spirit Releasement and Depossession like teeth cleaning- we know that over time tartar build up can cause decay and some serious disease in the mouth, so we brush and visit the dentist for deep cleanings. A physical body and its energy field can become similarly unclean and drained from having a spirit attachment, along with all its own issues, and may decide to“visit” your body for an extended period of time. Many physicians and psychologists know that this can absolutely be a contributing factor, if not the root cause, of many current mental, emotional, physical, and/or financial issues, so many times they hire people like me, a specialist in depossession, for those hard to heal clients. In no way am I saying that this work is a cure-all, but if we’re honest we realize that nothing in the medical or healing world is. The No-Nonsense Healing Method™ acknowledges that all therapies work in conjunction with each other, and teaches students how to do this work, in addition to other modalities that usually compliment each other. So, does everyone need to have a Spirit Releasement? No, just like not everybody gets cavities; but if you’re suffering from something, anything at all, and you could rule that out—Why wouldn’t you give it a try? VM: How many depossessionists are there? I am not sure of that answer Sydney, but what I am sure of is that we could use more! It is time to let go of the stigma surrounding the word depossession. Right now, the earth is like a refugee camp for these spirits, and we need more people willing to help them get home. I train people in The No-Nonsense Healing Method™ because there is just that much need, that much work to go around. I had a vision that these earthbound spirits can’t get home quick enough, of them lining up around the block like customers do when the latest smartphone comes out - they really, really want to go home. VM: What are some of the symptoms that a spirit is attached? Some symptoms might include low energy, panic or anxiety attacks, unexplained changes in behavior, unexplainable fears and phobias, personality disorders, depression, consistently poor relationship choices, relationship problems, any kind of addiction, uncontrollable anger and rage, suicidal tendencies, memory problems… It’s a seriously long list. But the good news is that it’s very common for people who have completed these sessions, or who have listened to one of my Spirt Release Your Home ™ CDs to feel a sudden shift of an ailment that feels like its been there forever. Whether is a behavior, or a relationship, or a pain in their shoulder, the Spirit Releasement creates a space for a beautiful, cleansing process, and a completion that needs to happen just gets done, leaving one somehow feeling much more themselves - lighter, happier, with unexplainable positive emotional, psychological and physical changes. I believe the time will come when those of us serving in Spirit Releasement will be a standard part of the healing team assigned to patients in hospitals and clinics all over the world. (Disclaimer: Clinical Depossession is in no way a substitute for those needing psychological and medical care. Your first stop should always be a medical professional.) I can’t tell you how many clients, including you Sydney, leave the session saying, “That was incredible. I have never in any healing treatment felt what I felt when that spirit went into the light. It is like I was in the light with them.” It’s true, I don’t know anything other than a NDE (Near Death Experience) where people express such awe and gratitude. You Sydney, at least 6 times experienced that light and love washing all through you. Every time a spirit ascended during your session you were saying you couldn’t believe how your body was feeling and how strong the love and light were; you kept repeating how the light is so blinding.. VM: You mentioned your Sprit Release CD, could you explain how that works? I love these CDs, they are a great option for someone who doesn’t want to be a

CONTINUED Ceremonial Empowement Continued from page 18 perfect for anyone. Each of us interacts with the universe in a unique way. We each have unique life experiences which create our perceptions of the world around us. What I define as “God” when I hear the word is based on my life experience and what you define as “God” I am sure is at least a little different because you learned about the word “God” with a unique set of life experiences which will never fit into my own path. It is these experiences which make up our system of understanding and it is the getting to know this understanding that helps us to build our spaceship and it’s extensions of ourself with which he can travel to our destination. We must study everything we can learn about our emotions, about our mind, about our spirit, about our soul, about nature, about science about everything. When we study anything certain parts of the knowledge we are absorbing will light us up inside in these non-physical places we seek. This is the knowledge activating that part of us that resonates with it. Go with that, you have just found a piece of your vehicle. Keep searching, search and search until you construct a vehicle, a system of understanding that gives you the information you need to believe you can reach your destination. This information will help you construct your ceremony. You can start with ceremonies that resonate with you and add your own elements while removing what is undesirable. Remember you will need different vehicles for different tasks so be sure that you never think that one vehicle system is going to get you everywhere. Choose the knowledge that resonates with you and in the process you will create your own system. Patrick Dunn in Post-Modern Magic says “Remember, the act of magical authority is simply expressing the desire aesthetically.” By expressing your desire into a system you are creating in yourself a magical authority, what I am calling a vehicle, by which you can reach that which you desire.

Empowerment Now that you know where you want to go and how to get there what is left? Many people get this far and never reach their destination. Why? They don’t believe they have enough. It is doubt that keeps us lazy. It keeps us from waking up on time to do Yoga, that keeps us from eating the right food, and from enjoying our life fully. It is actually using your vehicle, powering it up and moving it around that gives it life. If we just learn about our potential but never go there we will start to doubt that what we have learned is valuable. Do not be afraid to try your vehicle, even a mere prototype. If we power up our vehicle and it breaks we can always build a new one and this time we will know more about it’s mechanics and be able to build a better vehicle for future discoveries. Empowerment is the act of picking up the system (vehicle) we have created and moving within it. Using words, movements, and other ritual we command our ship where to go. Ritual is powerful because of the practice. By repeating the ritual we become more and more in tune to it’s meaning. If we ritualistically train ourselves to look for something besides our destination by focusing on what we don’t want we will see what we practice. The more we notice what we don’t want the more our vehicle will take us there. On the other hand if we train ourselves to notice those thing we do desire, it will be impossible to avoid into them. This has little to do with manipulating the world around us as most people imagine when they think of magic. According to Aleister Crowley “Magick is the Science of understanding oneself and one’s conditions. It is the Art of applying that understanding in action.” By performing ceremonial Magick one is really just changing himself, opening his senses and understanding to that potential and possibility all around. Our potential is always there and we just need to notice it to approach it. Modern psychology is full of exercises which teach us to focus on the right goals in order to allow us to achieve them. The same is true of ceremony. By practicing ceremony we entrain ourselves into our system, learn how to navigate our vehicle and make our destination reachable. Create A Ceremony That You Believe In The best way to create a ceremony is to first consider what you believe? Ceremony can work for anyone, a Christian, Bhuddist, Agnostic, even Aethists have beliefs. Write these down, write down everything you have learned and resonate with. Call on these beliefs to create a concept you can trust. Do you believe in a higher power, a connection between all beings? Do you believe in science and rational thought? Take these ideas and write them down. The symbol can be anything like your religions God, or it could be something as simple as a visualization or a drawing of an imagined space craft that will take you through the world of you emotions. If you are trying to navigate the emotional world be sure to use your emotions to create your craft. Be sure to put everything you know into it. There are parts of pieces to the puzzle all around you. Try not to leave anything out. This is your vehicle you are creating. Second, write down your destination. Think about specifically where you want to go. Do you want to buy a car, find true love, travel to europe? Write it down thinking of all the details and imagining yourself arriving at your destination. Use this goal that you write down to create a phrase that you can repeat during your ceremony. The third thing you need to do is clear your bodies of doubt, fear and all the things keeping you back. Find chants, a breathing exercise, yoga routine, walk, meal, or other activity that you feel centers you. Clear the space you will do the ceremony in, remove distractions and sounds and lights that will disturb your meditative state. Get grounded in reality and in tune with yourself. The healthier, more aware, sober, and in tune with yourself you are. The more effective you will be. The final step is to do it. Don’t expect yourself you get retrained immediately. There is a reason these are called practices. You must practice regularly. The more you practice the better your results will be. Be open to your goals and repeat your phrase during your ceremony. When you are not in ceremony but feel that your goals are failing. Sit down in a quite place and return to the place where you were in the ceremony. You will get back on track immediately.

A Ceremony to Try: Magnetic Ceremony Sit down in a comfortable position. Imagine yourself in a pyramid of bright white light. This pyramid is protecting you from the influence of any forces in the outer world which challenge you. You are complete and contained in yourself. Imagine your chakras one at a time top to bottom. As you pass through each chakra imagine the color of that chakra saturating the space all around you. One at a time move down the chakras to your feet. When you reach your feet, imagine golden energy from the earth rising up through your body and energizing you with the energy of your potential. Take in three deep breaths slowly inhaling and exhaling. Keep imagining yourself in this protective pyramid. Take in a deep breath and breath out chanting the syllable “Hu.” Elongate the sylable so that you spend a few seconds each time you say “Huuuuuu.” Take a deep breath and say it again. Imagine the sound waves of “Hu” vibrating and harmonizing within you and without you. Imagine them vibrating with the colors and objects of the Universe. Chant the phrase over and over again until you feel your hands tingle and your mind and mood elevated. Say the phrase “I am a magnet for Love, Abundance, Success, and Good Fortune.” Say it with feeling and emotion. Imagine each of these things Love, Abundance, Success, and Good Fortune happening as you say them. Imgaine you are a magnet and these forces are attracted to you and pulled toward you wherever you go. Be sure to repeat the phrase slowly and put your energy into it. Repeat 10 times and then relax and breath in deep. Breath in three deep breaths. and end your ceremony with “So Be it.” This ceremony can be adapted to whatever ideas and needs you have. Be creative imagination is the highest of powers so be sure to put your imagination and creativity into everything you can. The forces in this ceremony can be substituted for any destination or need. You will find over time that you begin to feel differently and think differently about things. As your creat your own ceremonies you will realize that there is not limit to the things it can help you with. It is important to recognize the flaws in your perception of reality and your ceremonies can be directed at retraining those parts of your conscioussness you have difficulty with. Research your difficulty and design a ritual to combat your fear. Potential is all around us and the ways to unlock it are infinite. The simple practice of ceremony allows us to spend a short period in our busy lives refocusing our scattered perceptions, allowing our bodies or consciousnesses to align with our desired path and sail directly towards our true human potential. it, though, was that I didn’t forgive myself for it. In fact, for years I lashed myself over my grand mal abdication of reason. And the net effect of all that recrimination left me draped in a hair shirt of my own design. It was a situation I would have endured indefinitely if it wasn’t for a casual chat I had with my Mom less than a year ago, one in which I confessed that episode to her. When I finished, she was dumbstruck: How could I not have at least mentioned it to her and my Father at the time? When I apologized for that omission and asked for her forgiveness, she spoke words seemingly designed for a parent to impart to a child: That until I learned to forgive myself I would never be able to accept forgiveness from anyone else. I don’t think she could have been more right. Slowly I gradually began to forgive myself. One by one, I pried my fingers from the stranglehold they had on my need to blame myself for what I’d done. And the instant I fully disengaged from it, all the sodden weight I’d been dragging around for years was gone, replaced with the ability to assess new incidents in light of that occurrence. So I came to understand that my internship didn’t end thirty years ago—it continues till this day. Which leaves me to finally understand this quote from Lewis B. Smedes: “To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.” Michael Raysses is a writer/NPR commentator who lives in Malibu, California. Visions Of Transformation Continued from page 29 of expression. The whole world would be a canvas filled with metaphorical gold. I often have visions of this world to be. A world in which the pinnacle of human expression is made manifest, unhindered by the trauma and distortion that has collapsed most of the human Soul. I have said this many times, but it bares repeating. We have not even scratched the surface of what it means to be human. We have no experience of a humanity without blockages, programming, pain raised in a functional and Spirit centered love based world. We have been manipulated for functioning at 10% capacity for thousands for years, swimming amongst the most toxic energetics. But as the wave of heightened consciousness permeates all, increasingly each day, the artificial blockages to full expression are removed, like a flood of water crashing a dam. And as the water of consciousness flood all, the vision of a new world nears. Join me in holding a healing vision of beauty for our world. part of the process directly but is in need of a release, or knows of a loved one in need of a release. I made this series of CDs because I knew that I could never get into all of the homes, bedrooms, offices, cars, hospital rooms, jail cells that attracts or is housed by millions of these disoriented earthbound spirits. Even if I had an army of thousands, it would be a good start but I could never reach all that are asking for my help. So I developed these CDs - they are fabulous - I basically do a full on subliminal spirt release session and depossession, it is subliminal for the client but not the spirits, the spirits know I am talking to them directly. In a cd spirit release I talk directly to the spirit, just like I do in a live session, I familiarize them with where they are, I explain to them that they have died, I inform them that they are harming themselves, others and the world by not moving on in their evolution, I encourage them if they are hiding to come out and listen to my voice, I explain to them that there is nothing to be afraid of and that they are loved no matter what kind of person they were in this life, I explain to them that their loved ones who have passed are waiting for them and are so desperate for their return, and then I guide them to the light or their loved one or guide that all earthbound sprits recognize by the end of a session. - And then bada, bing baba boom, off they go! My remote depossession sessions are another great option for people who don’t want to participate in the session directly or want to help someone else who has an attachment, but who might be fearful of that information. There is more information about all of these products and services on my website and people can always call if they have any questions, my assistant Paula is great and so helpful VM: Why do you do this work? Because I love it and it would be unethical for me not to do it. If someone calls me to do on-going psychic advising counseling work and I know there is a spirit attachment issue going on, I need to get out of the way first, so that the client isn’t chasing his/her tail for years and years to no avail. I feel Spirit Releasement and Depossession is some of the most honorable work I do. When a spirit passes into the light and finally completes a lifetime they should have completed long ago, I imagine it must feel like an actor finally winning a long overdue Academy Award- it renders you specchless, and sometimes on the way to the stage you trip on your dress because you are so excited to get up there! When a spirit turns his or her face before their final passing, my heart fills up. By allowing me to help guide them home they have given me more than I could have ever given them. Spirit release therapy is important work, and just like in any healing profession -medical or alternative- there are often times no quick fixes, but every once in a while you hit the one thing that was causing all the problems and the symptoms and ailments magically, miraculously disappear forever. So Sydney, I am actually very proud of the work I do - Spirit Releasement is of course just one part of what I do, but it is a very, very important part. I know it works. I am here to give depossession a new face. I don’t mind being the blondehaired blue-eyed poster child (women) for depossession because helping these spirits, assisting them into the next stage of their evolution is beautiful, is truly mindblowing and beautiful. I honestly believe that one day this treatment will be as common as psychotherapy, and I welcome that day. Without that negative or scary stigma, more spirits and their human hosts, my clients, can all get the help they need. (Disclaimer: Please understand, all interviews, communications and sessions with Devin Grace are not in any way a substitute for psychological or medical assistance. If you have mental, emotional or physical problems of any kind you should immediately seek the assistance of a medical doctor and/or a professional therapist.)

Choosing The Best Possible Life Continued from page 9 our income, and then another, and before we know it, we have had a «career.» It is a meandering path. Sometimes, we find that what we are doing is something other than what we really want to do. What Are You Doing? As I said above, it is never too late to ask, “Am I doing what I want to do? Is it giving me all of the benefits I want and need? How close is it to my perfect job?” Take a few moments now to think about it. It might help to look at this brief list that identifies what – for me – are the most important characteristics of the perfect job. Your Perfect Job I would be happy to do the work I do for free. I believe it has value – to me and to the people who pay me for it. It is fully challenging. It engages both the logical and the creative sides of my brain. If you find that the “what to do” of your life is not perfect, don’t panic. If it is paying the bills, it is something. Our first responsibility, as moral citizens of the world, is to support the financial well-being of our families. But if your work falls short in other areas – if, for example, it doesn’t challenge your intelligence and imagination – you should commit to making changes. If you are lucky, you may discover an opportunity to slip into your “perfect” job. More likely, you can move toward it step-by-step by making adjustments, as I did in my career.

HUMAN POTENTIAL The Perfect Place to Live Where you live and work is important, too. The physical environment you naturally prefer very much affects your perfect life. (Do you love the mountains, the plains, the beach? Do you prefer big, bustling cities or tranquil little towns?) When you are starting out, you must go where the work is. But as you move up the ladder of business success, you will have more choice in the matter. This is especially true in today’s world, where one can work remotely in so many industries. Consider, also, your commute. Some people enjoy spending an hour or more every day commuting. They use this time profitably to listen to music or books on tape and so on. Other people – such as I – prefer a very short commute. Locating my office a mile from my home has enhanced the quality of my life. I can walk, bike, or drive there in less than 15 minutes. More specifically, the quality of your immediate work environment – your office – affects the quality of your life. Since you are likely to spend a big portion of your active day in that one place, make sure you like everything about it. Your office should not be an accidental, junky place that has what you need. It should be a haven where you can work productively and a bit of paradise filled with art and artifacts that give you pleasure. Putting It All Together Whether you are young or old, beginning a career or enjoying a retirement job, you can find good answers to all three of these questions. Start today by thinking about the three questions I listed at the beginning of this essay. Conjure up your perfect life. And then begin the process of having it.

The Perfect Partner I had always considered the question “with whom” to be about one’s spouse. And that is probably its original meaning. But it is also relevant to one’s occupation. The people with whom you work – your boss, your partners, your colleagues, and your employees – determine to a great extent both the satisfaction and the success you will have from your working life. If you stop to think about the work experience you’ve had, you will realize that much of the pleasure or pain you’ve experienced came from the relationships you had – your interactions with the people with whom you worked. And you may think that you have no choice in these matters. After all, you can’t hire your boss. But in fact, you can. In choosing the business you work for, you are choosing your future colleagues. If you find yourself in a toxic work environment (a work environment that is political, rather than entrepreneurial), don’t hesitate to look for a better company. And when it comes time to hire employees, don’t consider only their work skills and talents. Consider also whether or not you will enjoy working with them. The following characteristics should help you choose the best possible partners… They respect you. You have their back. They have your back. You don’t expect them to change. You are happy with them as they are. These four characteristics may seem obvious, but I managed to ignore them for most of my working life. Gradually, I came to recognize how important it was for me to make good choices in terms of partners. These are the characteristics that, after all of these years, seem most important to me. v i s i o n m a g a z i n e .c o m • M a r c h 2 013 • V I S I O N M AG A Z I N E 37

Please allow me to guide them home . . . There is a place where most of us don't want to go, and this is into the world of the earthbound sprits that are around us. What I have learned from Devin Grace is that most of these spirits are disoriented, lost, and seeking assistance home, and that many are beloved friends, lovers and family members who have left their bodies but not the earth plane. If you have recurring issues or ailments that just don't seem to shift or heal, it’s time to consider spirit releasement with Devin Grace. This work is important and relevant. The importance of this work cannot be discounted. – Sydney Murray, Publisher - Editor in Chief, Vision Magazine
