Our guided tours MACON, TOWN OF HISTORY

MACON, LAMARTINE’S BIRTHPLACE

Buildings painted burnt sienna, buttermilk and rose – Mâcon has a distinctly Mediterranean feel and looks to the south for inspiration. The town centre is endowed with monuments of diversified and imposing architecture.

Mâcon has much evidence of the life of this famous man, who was both a poet and a statesman. The Lamartine area, located on the first floor of the Ursuline’s Museum, shows the poet under various facets: the romantic poet, his journeys and the places that inspired him-Milly and SaintPoint-. Other major works evoke the public man whom was Lamartine.
