Explore Our Towns: Evans City
The town of Evans City might look familiar to you, especially if you’re a zombie fan.
George Romero’s 1968 cult classic Night of the Living Dead was filmed here. In fact, the opening scene was shot in the Evans City Cemetery. In 1973, Romero returned to Evans City to film The Crazies, a movie in which the town was blown up!
History buffs can learn more about Evans City by visiting the Evans City Historical Society Here you'll find artifacts and memorabilia of the area’s oil boom and railroads. Please check hours before visiting.
As you’re making your way through town, be sure to stop by Brew Monkey for some craft brews and bites from food trucks. Make your way to P&B’s Sweets and Eats or Wendereusz’s Candy & More for something sweet. Get your caffeine fix at Coffee Brake before hitting the rest of town where you'll find a variety of specialty shops like Antiques Preferred and Eleven Eleven Gifts.
Evans City even hosts an annual PumpkinFest filled with lots of fall fun, activities and entertainment.
