Zelienople Known by the locals as “Zelie,” this small town allures visitors with its charm. Zelienople is an unforgettable town steeped in rich history. Founded in 1802 by Detmar Basse, the town was named after his daughter, ‘Zelie,’ combined with the Greek word for town, ‘nople.’
Perhaps the most visited area Do of Zelienople is Main Street, which is lined with familyowned shops, restaurants and museums. Specialty shops range from one-of-a-kind stores like Stocking Stuffers Plus and unOrdinary to fashion boutiques like Eva Bryn Shoetique. Evans City PumpkinFest
The town of Evans City might look familiar to you, especially if you’re a zombie fan. George Romero’s 1968 cult classic Night of the Living Dead was filmed here. In fact, the opening scene was shot in the Evans City Cemetery. In 1973, Romero returned to Evans City to film The Crazies, a movie in which the town was blown up! History buffs can learn more about Evans City by visiting the Evans City Historical Society. Here you'll find artifacts and memorabilia of the area’s oil boom and railroads. Please check hours before visiting.

As you’re making your way through town, be sure to stop by Brew Monkey for some craft brews and bites from food trucks.
