December 2013 22128157. WEBSITE: www.boccf.org WED, 9 OCT - FRI, 6 DEC EXHIBITION “Chapters” By artist Haris Epaminonda. The exhibition centres on the newly commissioned film Chapters. The work is filmed in Cyprus and consists in a poetic series of meticulously staged scenes with underlying narrative elements of love, longing, afterlife and ritual: it appears, as the artist states, as an object that continuously moves, a sculpture that has no fixed form. Renaissance artist Gra Angelico, Georgian film director Segei Parajanov and Japanese Kabuki theatre are the main references of the work, where the fixed frame of the camera shapes a series of “pictures” or “tableaux”, capturing archaeological sites, ancient buildings and historical details. The images are accompanied by a soundtrack by Kelly, Jayne Jones and Pascal Nichols. The landscapes are punctuated by colourful characters, recalling the formal structure and the iconology of a Renaissance painting and the sketchiness of the Kabuki theatre. The structure and ideas explored in Chapters are expanded into the three-dimensional world of the gallery. Parallel are drawn with the film’s interior locations and open landscapes, creating a series of intimate spaces in which to view it. Venue: Point Centre for Contemporary Art Visiting hours: 10:00-12:00 and 17:00-22:00 (Tue-Fri), 11:00-22:00 (Sat). Closed on Sun-Mon. Free Entrance For further information please contact 22662053.

LARNAKA CITY CRUISERS (BIKING TOURS) Tourists and locals alike can view the sights of Larnaka from a different angle by renting a ‘City Cruiser’ biking tour. The special passenger bikes - which look a little like buggy carts with pedals - are already popular in other European destinations where riders (with very strong legs!) cycle with their passengers in the back enjoying the sights. The bikes are an environmentally friendly way to travel as they use a solar-powered battery, meet all European safety standards and are operated by trained riders who know firstaid. They are also suitable for people with disabilities. There are three tours on offer: The City Centre Tour (which takes in the town centre with all its shops), The Arts and Culture Tour (which takes in the workshops and galleries of Larnaka), and a Historical Tour Around the Town (which 14

December 2013 takes in the museums, churches and ancient monuments). These are the first bikes of their kind on the island and are certain to offer something unique to anyone who wants to see Larnaka and its sights in a memorable way.
