The Queen’s View and Trebjerg On the other side of the road at the rest area, which is popularly called The Queen’s View, a small path leads to Trebjerg at 128 metres above sea level, thus the highest point in South Funen.
In 1977, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik visited Faaborg. On the way back from a visit to the manor house Østrupgaard, the royal couple drove past the ”entrance” to Trebjerg, and there they stopped to enjoy the view. The Queen urged the county officials to make a space right there so people could go up there and have their lunch and enjoy the view. In 1979, the county then purchased the upper part of the field and a few years later established ”THE QUEEN’S VIEW ”, as it now stands with sets of table-benches.
Trente Mill Shortly before Ny Stenderup you pass Trente Mill. Here is a good place to take a break, it is a great experience to walk around the mill’s lakes and find Saint Oluf’s well. There are both good resting places with campfires, as well as a small nature museum and an environmental centre, where you can borrow equipment to explore the surroundings. In the forest around there are three shelters you can rent on the website www. bookenshelter.dk
After Trente Mill turn left onto Ny Stenderupvej. At the outskirts of the village of Vester Hæsinge turn left onto Vestergade. At the junction of Søbovej / Bjerget, turn right onto Bjerget and left onto Søndervej back to Brobyværk.
