More than National Champions Hard work. Persistence. Dedication. These are the qualities that define the Lady Chaps and earned them their second NCAA DII National Basketball Championship title in four years. Among their successes and impressive statistics is one that is often overlooked—in 2019, the Lady Chaps also boasted a stellar team GPA that was second in the nation. Since joining the NCAA, they have consistently ranked among the top five. They are more than champions, they are a team of true student athletes.

Or relaxing in a luxurious VIP lounge listening to a private performance. Or how about attending an elegant gala with an impressive backdrop of a grand spiral staircase? After several years of envisioning a performing arts venue that would house acclaimed entertainment and revolutionary performances in a facility designed by world-renowned architects, LEPAA has nearly surpassed their monetary goal to construct this 220,000-square-foot campus, thanks to local contributions. Located in the heart of downtown Lubbock and designed for local, national and international entertainment and arts education, The Buddy Holly Hall will boast the following: HELEN DEVITT JONES MAIN THEATER 2,200 seats comfortably rise over four levels with two VIP lounges

Besides the artistic influence and educational opportunities this state-of-the-art facility will attract, The Buddy Holly Hall will pose a huge economic impact for the “Hub City.” Serving as a catalyst for downtown revitalization, the economic impact of The Buddy Holly Hall will create an estimated 1,200 new jobs during construction and a total of 36 new jobs after opening, with more than $3.7 million impact annually to Lubbock’s tax revenue. 5217 82nd St. #109 | 806.771.2233 // Bring your Texas-sized appetite to local favorite, Caprock Cafe. Be sure to bite into one of their mouthwatering burgers, like the Green Chile Bacon Cheeseburger on a sourdough jalapeno bun topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. For those looking for a lighter option without compromising flavor, try the Buffalo Burger.
3214 4th St. | 806.368.0750 // Blue Sky Texas takes pride in going the extra mile for customers with hand-cut french fries, homemade ranch dressing, buns baked fresh daily and 100% ground chuck for hand-made hamburger patties. For their burgers, go traditional and grab a cheeseburger. If you like to live life on the edge, add grilled jalapenos for an extra kick. You can opt for a side of fries but you’d be missing out if you didn’t try their awardwinning, hand-battered onion rings.
2BURGERFI 4210 82nd St. | 806.283.9555 If a plain cheeseburger doesn't offer the excitement you're searching for, head to BurgerFi and order The CEO. This burger means business. On top of this “The Double Wagyu + Brisket Blend Burger” (as if that’s not enough to convince you) is homemade candied bacon-tomato jam, truffle aioli and aged swiss cheese. If meat isn’t your thing, the 100% plant-based Beyond Burger will not disappoint. 3TWISTED ROOT BURGER CO. 116 W. Loop 289 #200 806.767.0532 // Their Dallas location was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, making it Guy Fieri-approved. That’s how you know it’s going to be good. They have a variety of exotic meats to choose from such as emu, elk or buffalo. You can’t go wrong with their classic half-pound cheeseburger, but the unique part of Twisted Root is the specialty toppings. Our stomachs start to growl at the thought of their Freshman 15 Burger with smashed fries on top, melted cheddar, a fried egg and bacon.
5CHRISTAKIS 1111 34th St. | 806.744.6833 From the outside, it looks like a burger shack built in the ‘50s, but on the inside it looks like your grandma’s house decked out in Red Raider and Texas memorabilia. The menu features the popular Red Raider Burger that includes double meat and double cheese, nachos, hot dogs, gyros and even a Philly cheesesteak. We highly recommend the Christakis's Burger, an unusual, but incredible, combination of pastrami and cheese melting down the side of the burger, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles that all synchronize in perfect flavor harmony.
Next time you find yourself getting stuck in a burger rut, branch out and try something new that Lubbock has to offer. Share your photos with us using #LIVELOVELUBBOCK and happy dining!

Mobile MUNCHIES The burgeoning food truck scene in Lubbock has made its mark and it’s here to stay. From classic BBQ to farm-to-table gourmet, here’s the rundown on just a few of our favorite food trucks in the 806!
HILL BARBECUE
@hillbarbecue hill_barbecue True Texas barbecue is made with true Texas grit. Known for flavorful, fall-off-thebone ribs and tender brisket, Hill Barbecue serves up some of the best craft barbecue in town. Not to mention, the sides are just as tasty as the product of the pit. Next time you order from this popular food truck, pair your meat with charro beans, Ranch Style potato salad, sweet banana pudding and our personal favorite, the brisket stew. LLANO CUBANO

look no further than Llano Cubano, a crowd-pleasing food truck that creates satisfying Cuban sandwiches with a West Texas twist. Try the Turkey Caprese, the Spicy Cubano or the Tripleta, a mouthwatering three-meat sandwich made popular in Puerto Rico. In addition to their well-known sandwich menu, this family owned and operated food truck even offers mouthwatering tacos.
name it, Farm to Fork makes it, and they do it well. Each plate costs only $10 and the portions are West Texas approved. There are just three items on the menu each day the truck operates, including favorites like the My Big Fat Greek Burger, the Lamb Tikka Masala and the Huevos Con Migas Tacos. The daily dishes are selected based on what produce and meats are locally available and in season.
