There are thousands of fishing lakes and rivers in Namdalen. In Namsskogan alone there are more than 800 lakes and 35 rivers with trout and char. Namsskogan mountain board have wilderness cabins for rent, many of which are near fishing lakes. Some of the cabins are close to roads and therefore well suited for family trips. FISHING IN THE NATIONAL PARKS
In Børgefjell National Park you can wander from excellent mountain fishing lake to excellent fishing lake, searching for a trout fisherman’s dream catch. Simskardvatnet and Orvatnet are among the national park’s best fishing lakes, and both the Namsen and the Vefsn river originate here. Visit Børgefjell can give you the best tips for fishing in this area. The low-lying mountain areas of Lierne National Park and Blåfjella- Skjækerfjella are renowned for their excellent fishing. Innumerable first-rate fishing lakes and miles of river await you here. In most of the mountain lakes there is trout, and in some of them there is char. In Kvesjøen you can fish lake char, trout, grayling, burbot and pike. Those who venture to this large lake can expect to catch some magnificent specimens and maybe even get a record-breaking fish on the hook. ICE FISHING
In the winter season you can bring an auger and some ice rods and go ice fishing. This is a fun family activity, especially when combined with some campfire cosiness. Find your way to one of the many mountain lakes, and you will soon find trout and char that are eager to bite. Guides available.
