Experience the serenity of arctic nature on our snowshoeing excursion. Hear the snow crunching under your feed, breathe crystal clear arctic air and savour the arctic lights. Experiencing the mountains, the town and nature from an Arctic fjord is something special. The Ofotfjord, once the scene of the biggest battle on the Atlantic Ocean, is also known for its breath-taking scenery. The cruise is a relaxing and exciting way to experience Narvik and its spectacular surroundings. Our guide will take good care of you and provide you with the information about the sights. There is a great chance to spot a sea eagle, porpoise and other arctic animals. Fishing rods available on request. The boat has both inside and outside deck for best photo possibilities. Cable Car round trip The cable car takes you to the Mountain Restaurant, 656 m, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ofotfjord surrounded by high mountains.The cable car takes about 10 minutes on the 1810-meter long ride from the lower cable car station to the upper station. The capacity is 350 passengers per hours, and it runs continuously during the opening hours. The cable car operates both summer and winter, and it might be open on a group request, also outside the opening hours. The cable car lower station is situated 10-minute walk from the town centre.

Tobogganing

Experience tobogganing in Narvikfjellet Resort! Join our guide for a fun ride along the mountainside in a unique urban scenery. The guide will meet you by the lower cable car station. The cable car brings you up to the cable car station at 656 m, where our guide will give you safety instructions before the 4-kilometer long decent along the trail. The journey down serves a great view overlooking the Ofotfjord and Narvik. If you are lucky you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Polar Park Arctic Wildlife Center Polar Park is the northernmost animal wildlife center in the world. Here, you can meet a number of species of the arctic fauna, including bears, wolves, lynx, reindeer, moose and muskoxen. Although a tourist attraction, the park puts its animals first. All animals are given large areas to create a habitat as natural as possible. The Park is situated in the heart of Salangsdalen Valley in Bardu, 72 km north of Narvik, and it offers special wildlife experiences for you and your family.

Narvikfjellet ski resort is the focal point of the town. Described as "an unknown gem" and a world-class ski resort it will please even the most demanding visitors. Narvikfjellet has one of Scandinavia's largest drop heights and offers excellent conditions for offpiste skiing. Children and beginners can benefit from a separate children’s lift and custom-made green slopes. The experts and adrenaline-seekers will enjoy one of the many red and black routes. Wildlife photography in the arctic nature
There is a big variety of birds and animals in the Narvik region. You will have a fantastic opportunity to watch and take photos of them from our wellhidden, heated hut. The hut is situated 10-minute walk from The Lapphaugen Toursit Sation. At the station our host will hand you the snow shoes, headlaps and give you the general instructions for the tour. The hut is equipped with one-way mirrors, so you will see the animals, but they won’t see you. You can watch and photograh a number of species of the arctic fauna, including: golden eagle, northern goshawk, ravens, foxes, wolveriens, wildcats, weasels, minks and more. We recommend to start and finish the tour when it is dark. Welcome to real wilderness!

Museum North – Narvik
The Museum North - Narvik is located at a walking distance from the town square, overlooking the harbour and Narvik. The beautiful brick house, built in 1902 for the administration of the Ofoten district of the Norwegian Railway Company, is now a place where you can get to know the history of Narvik. The museum's exhibitions tell stories of the construction and the operation of the Ofoten line railway, the navvies who built the railway, the Swedish mining company LKAB and the irone ore transport from the ice-free port of Narvik. Learn about everyday life in Narvik through the exhibitions, and see how Narvik has changed during its history. This year the museum also features the exhibition about Sami people in the Ofoten region.

Join us for the ice fishing at the Lapphaugen lake surrounded by the beautiful arctic mountain 60 km North of Narvik. The bus will pick you up at the Scandic Hotel in Narvik town centre and you will be driven to The Lapphaugen tourist station. Here you will be provided with snowshoes, and warm clothes if necessary. After a little walk we enter the lake area to try catching some trout and char. Enjoy the ultimate silence and breathe the crystal clear air. The Winter Festival in Narvik, Vinterfestuka Once a year, a town in Northern Norway bursts into life just as the sun once again conquers the dark arctic winter. For nine days, whole Narvik doesn’t sleep, everyone is thrown into a joyful cultural festival, filled with concerts, dance, theatre, art, exhibitions and street performance. Visiting Narvik during Vinterfestuka is like a time travel back to the end of the 19th century, when the world’s northernmost railway from Kiruna in Sweden to Narvik was built. Under the Northern Lights, the midnight sun and during winter storms – the Navvies relentlessly shaped a railway line through the Arctic mountains. Honouring these achievements everyone, young and old, dresses up in historic clothes. Women wear long dresses and men wear navvy hats and scarves. The festival is the perfect backdrop for meetings and conferences. The people of Narvik really put their heart and soul into this festival, exuding warmth, joy and hospitality.

Ballangen camping The camping is located only 30 minutes drive South from Narvik, by the fjord site. We are a family business run successfully from 1964. Ballangen camping offers 52 cabins of different size and standard; from new basic and simple ones to modern and spacious ones with TV, fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom. Garsnes brygger Garsnes Brygge is a holiday resort idyllically situated by the Sagfjord in Salangen, only 6 km from the village of Sjøvegan. The complex was recently renovated and it is in constant growth; with a campsite, new cabins, new pier and marina, only during the past two years. All our cabins have wooden, cosy décor, a fully equipped kitchen, a private furnished terrace, and a bathroom with a shower.
