The downhill dream season

Who does not dream of sitting on a mountain top on a fantastic spring day - and looking beyond a majestic landscape?

You have just had fun on the way up, had several breaks and been impressed by the herd of reindeer that you observed along the way. In front of you hundreds of meters of fantastic skiing to the sea far down there. You put the thermos in your bag, take off the ski skins, put on your skis - and set off. That dream can be yours. Welcome to spring skiing in the Narvik region!

Skiing in Narvik is especially versatile. We are living in an area of the country with dark polar nights as well as long bright days with midnight sun. The ski season starts with headlamps under the northern light and ends with night skiing under the midnight sun. As the season ends in most parts of the world, we enjoy long days and lots of snow. When snowfall hits in spring, there is no place that beats Narvik. Mid May TORJE KOSMO KARLSEN Ambassador of Northern Norway is when I have experienced the most spectacular powder days!.”

The peak has only short, easy climbing passages and is actually among the most visited peaks in the area. A classic with a great view! Called only the Tøttatoppen by the locals. The descent from the top offers wonderful driving which is divided into several short sections. We recommend to climb and descend the peak with a certified Mountain Guide. RÅNKEIPEN (1200 MAS)

One of the absolute finest viewing stops in the entire area. The ride down to the Ofotfjord is a wonderful experience with the fjord below you all the time. At times, it almost feels like the next turn goes straight down into the water, even if you’re still above the tree line. This tour is very popular and on a nice day you should expect to meet others in the mountains.

MERAFTESTIND (1443 MAS) Driving into Sørskjomen to Skjombotn is like driving into a world where nature’s creator has worked overtime. Here it gets dramatic. You end up surrounded by tall granite walls and steep snow slopes. The trip up to Meraftestinden begins in Skjombotn and goes almost straight uphill. From the top you can enjoy the view of the huge glacier, Frostisen, and then play your way back to the car.
