Whether you want to experience the famous peace and quiet or get an adrenaline rush, the fjords are the ideal destination.

The fjords are often described as “natures own work of art”, formed when the glaciers retreated and seawater flooded the U-shaped valleys. Thanks to the warm waters of the Gulf Stream and air currents caused by the Coriolis effect, Norwegian fjords enjoy a relatively mild climate and remain virtually ice-free.

BEACH CUTTING AT THE WRECK BY EVELYN KARIN At the southern tip of Barøy, situated at the end of Ofotfjorden, lies the remains of the cargo boat "Evelyn Karin". In 1975, a violent autumn storm washed the vessel ashore, miraculously sparing the lives of its four-member crew. The wreck now sits on dry land, between 40 and 50 meters in, serving as a reminder of nature’s raw power. Visitors to Barøy can explore the wreckage and pay their respects to the brave souls who once manned the ship.
