A LITTLE KNOWN FACT

Lake Cootharaba is Queensland’s biggest natural saltwater lake. The lake is 10km long and 5km wide and is the gateway to Australia’s only Everglades system.

WHY WE LOVE IT HERE

The area is perfect for nature lovers and families. Lake Cootharaba is very shallow, making it a safe place to swim, kayak and play. There are a number of popular spots for camping and fishing and the area has its own brewery and historic pub, the Apollonian.

HIDDEN GEM

Travel back in time and visit historic Mill Point, a former sawmill and township which was home to over 100 people in the 1800s. It is an easy 2.5km walk from Elanda Point to this historical site.
