Last year we honored Jerry Keller as our Citizen of the Year, for his dedication to the Redmond community and his commitment to the Redmond Chamber and his support as the emcee of our weekly Coffee Clatters. The Annual Dinner is also our chance to thank our Board members, volunteers, and Ambassadors for their support of the Chamber throughout the year. Of course, you do not want to miss the beautifully sponsored tables decorated by our members. Arriving early is the key, as this event has open seating, and the centerpieces are yours to keep. Tickets are available for $80 per person and RSVP’s are required, so go online at www.visitredmondoregon.com, or call us here at 541-923-5191.

Q: In my job, I’m often in charge of several big projects in various stages of completion, all at once and with large teams of people. I’ve heard about a project management certification but I’m skeptical. Is it worth it? Should I really consider a Project Management Professional (PMP) course or certification to help me up my game?
A: Managing multiple projects simultaneously can be challenging, but PMP training can absolutely equip you with the skills and techniques to handle this workload more effectively. Here’s how:
1. Improved Time Management: PMP courses cover various project-scheduling techniques to help you create realistic project timelines, allocate resources efficiently and prioritize tasks effectively across multiple projects, ultimately enhancing your time-management skills.
2. Enhanced Prioritization Skills: PMP training emphasizes identifying and prioritizing project objectives, deliverables and stakeholders’ needs. By understanding project prioritization techniques, you can make informed decisions about where to focus your time and resources.
3. Streamlined Communication: Effective communication is essential when managing multiple projects. PMP courses cover communication planning, stakeholder analysis and conflict-resolution strategies, enabling you to establish clear communication channels, disseminate information efficiently and address issues proactively across all projects.
4. Risk Management: Managing multiple projects increases the likelihood of encountering risks and uncertainties. PMP training includes in-depth coverage of risk-management processes, such as risk identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring.
5. Resource Optimization: With limited resources available across multiple projects, resource optimization becomes critical. By learning how to balance resource demands and constraints effectively, you can maximize resource utilization and avoid bottlenecks.
The Center for Business, Industry, and Professional Development (CBIPD) at COCC can help. Led by experienced, PMP-certified facilitator Lynn Jesus, a series of project management in-person classes kick off with a free informative meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025. Visit cocc.edu or email cbipd@cocc.edu to learn more.

Senneca Holdings, dba Chase Doors in Redmond, Oregon, is more than just a manufacturing company. It's a local institution with a rich history and a bright future. Recently featured on the Made In Redmond Tour, Senneca /Chase Doors is gaining popularity among the ranks of Redmond’s trades industry cluster and is a company that is set to enhance its reputation as Redmond’s best manufacturing employer.
More than just Doors
Founded by Chase Blum in 1932, Chase Doors initially specialized in insulated walk-in coolers and specialty refrigeration equipment. It was later acquired by Senneca Holdings, a diversified specialty door manufacturer with seven major production facilities across the United States. The Redmond facility operates under the Chase Doors brand and has evolved over the years, broadening its range of doors. Today, it is recognized as one of the foremost manufacturers of high-quality, made-to-order specialty doors.
As the largest specialty door manufacturer on the West Coast, Senneca/Chase Doors produces double-acting traffic doors, flexible PVC roll goods, and strip curtains at its Redmond facility. Employees rotationally mold doors and extrude PVC, completing the entire process from raw materials to finished products all in one location. Chase Doors products can be found in major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Costco, typically positioned between customers and the warehouse. Its PVC refrigeration strips are primarily distributed to major catalog houses such as Grainger, Uline, and McMaster.
A Culture of Mutual Safety
With a workforce of 115 employees, Senneca may not be the largest manufacturing employer in Redmond, but John LaMantia, Director of Operations, is enthusiastic about enhancing the company’s reputation as the best employer in the area. He states, “We aim not only to be the top door manufacturer for our clients but also the best employer for our workforce, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to earn a fair wage and have the time and resources to care for their families.” This vision is supported by fostering a culture of mutual support and adhering to Senneca's mantra: 1) Protect our People, 2) Protect the Customer, and 3) Protect the Business. Initiatives such as The Safety Champion Program empowers employees in leadership roles, while the "Stop for Each Other" emphasizes the importance of looking out for one another.
Why Redmond?
Chase Doors opened its Redmond facility in 1997, choosing the location for its proximity to neighboring communities, a solid population base, and access to railroad spurs for efficient material and product transport. John acknowledges REDI's contribution to Senneca/Chase Doors’ goal of being the best employer in town: “REDI helps us connect with the community and fosters partnerships.”
Interested in learning more?
As Central Oregon experiences growth with more employers entering the market or expanding, the competition for attracting talent intensifies. In response to this challenge, John aims to strengthen Senneca/Chase Doors' reputation through increased community outreach. He extends an invitation to the community: “If anyone is interested in learning more about us, whether for school tours or employment opportunities, please feel free to reach out.”
Connect with John LaMantia and Senneca/Chase Doors by phone at (541) 923-8787.

While walking into a beautifully decorated room full of people shopping for Christmas gifts and watching each vendor sell their precious items mostly made by hand, it makes you wonder what kind of person it takes to be a vendor in the CRR Western Christmas Celebration event? In talking with some of them I learned that there were first time vendors and vendors who have done this for several years. A common answer to ‘why would you invest the money and time in to being a vendor?’ is, first we love to craft and create, with the benefit of sharing our products with the community. It’s a time of coming together to socialize with others of the same interest and meet new people on the ranch along with surrounding areas. No matter the weather, people want to get out and CRR offers a relaxed venue to roam around, shop and visit. Living here in the community makes vendors want to support the ranch and participate in the events available to them. A community that gathers, works, and plays together is a safer community, one vendor said. Vendors have the option of setting up the day before or the morning of the event. This is to make it easier and more efficient for the vendor with a larger display. It was said that not only have we become a diverse community, but we are also a close community. Even if they don’t know you, people will help you when you’re in need. This was very apparent in the set up and take down periods where everyone helped each other haul in their items to set up their vendor space and then remove them at closing time.
The CRR Western Christmas Celebration benefits the ranch because it brings folks to the ranch that normally don’t come out here unless they’re golfing, playing tennis, etc. It’s a destination resort in the summer, but this event brings people down here in the off season and is a great boost for all the local businesses. The venue has plenty of free parking without stress.
Along with vendors, there are free Santa Photos sponsored by Crooked River Realty; a free breakfast sponsored by Twin Rivers Community Church; Hayrides, Cookies, Carolers sponsored by the Events Committee and a Golf Pro Shop Open House. There is plenty to do at this family event that is held the first Saturday of every December. Our vendors make this wonderful event even more successful. Come on down to the 2025 CRR Western Christmas Celebration next year. We’ll see you there!
