DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

NOVEMBER 2024

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Season’s Greetings!

The Holidays are here and I hope you are able to enjoy this magical time of year as Redmond comes to life with thousands of twinkling lights. The Redmond Chamber is very proud to be a part of making Redmond a destination for holiday season. The Chamber along with the City and the incredible team at Public Works have been working steadily to get Redmond ready for the Season, bringing lights, snowflakes, the Holiday Village Kiosks and of course the beautiful tree to Centennial Park. The Enjoy Downtown Redmond group has all kinds for activities scheduled throughout the season including the Charm Stroll, a Cringle Craw, Shop Small Saturday and much more. Santa’s mail box is at the arch in front of Arome’, the 17th Annual Holiday Village Market opens Friday November 29, from 10am to 4pm, Saturday, November 30, from 10am to 7pm (until the tree lighting), and Saturday, December 7 and 14 from 10am to 4pm. Santa will be making his appearance following the Starlight Parade, Saturday November 30 (approximately 7pm). Santa will return Saturday December

7 and 14 from 12pm to 2pm at the Holiday Village Market. There is a method to our madness by helping to brighten up Redmond with lights and fun activities; we are helping to create a memorable destination and to create the ideal place to do all of your holiday shopping, eating and celebrating.

There are so many fun activities taking place all month long, right here in Redmond. Be sure to check out the Redmond Buzz at www.redmondbuzz. com for a full list of all the holiday happenings.

The Giving Tree

One of the time honored traditions here at the Redmond Chamber is the Giving Tree. This wonderful program helps provide much needed clothing and toys to approximately 300 less fortunate children right here in the Redmond area. The Giving Tree is located in ten locations this year at Arome’, Cascade Swim Center, Initiative Brewing, Maple Moon, Willow Wild, Cascade Hasson Sotheby’s, Feathered Salon, The RAC, Cares & Whoas and Satterlee Jewelry. Each tag on the tree has the name of

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

JAKE WAARDENBURG STATE FARM INSURANCE PRESIDENT

RYAN CHURCHILL INITIATIVE BREWING 1ST VICE PRESIDENT

JUDY LAPORA

CROOKED RIVER RANCH AND MAINTENANCE 2ND VICE PRESIDENT

a child with their age, a “need” and a “want”. All you need to do is select a child, purchase a gift or gifts, and then return it the Chamber by Friday, December 13. Each gift has the power to provide joy and hope and can make a tremendous difference in the life of the recipient. If you have any questions regarding the Giving Tree or would like to help contribute to this project, give us a call here at the Chamber, 541-9235191.

Happy Holidays!

From all of us at the Redmond Chamber of Commerce we wish you a Very Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings!

Homeless Persons' Memorial Day is an important event to honor the lives of individuals who have passed away while experiencing homelessness. It's a solemn occasion that helps raise awareness about homelessness in the community and encourages a collective effort to address the root causes. The event scheduled for Saturday, December 21, 2024, includes:

· 8:00 am at Bethlehem Inn Redmond (517 NW Birch Ave. Redmond)

· 5:00 pm at Drake Park in Bend

During the vigils, the community will come together to remember those who have died while homeless, reflecting on their lives and the challenges they faced.

This memorial serves not only as a time of remembrance but also as a reminder of the ongoing need for services, resources, and systemic change to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Please come to learn more, or reach out to local service providers or organizations that strive to provide assistance and advocacy for the homeless population in our area.

MEMBERSHIP update

Greetings To All Of Our Amazing Members!

Well here we are again…at the end of another trip around the sun! As the year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the journey traveled, lessons learned, milestones achieved, and the blank canvas of the new year ahead. This is also the time of year where businesses scrutinize budgets, forecast market trends, and outline investment priorities to optimize financial health and achieve targeted goals for the upcoming financial year. As both the Finance and Membership Director for the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, I would be doing our business community a disservice if I did not talk about why a Chamber membership and/or a sponsorship budget line item should be a part of your business’s financial planning process.

In the ever-evolving landscape of business, strategic decisions often determine the trajectory of success. One such decision that merits consideration, but often gets overlooked, especially during financial planning at year-end, is joining the Redmond Chamber of Commerce. Whether your business is a small startup or a large established enterprise, the advantages offered by investing your dollars into a membership or sponsorship with the Chamber extend far beyond a mere membership – it’s a gateway to a network, resources, and growth opportunities that can significantly impact your company’s bottom line.

At the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, we pride ourselves on acting as a unified voice for our businesses, advocating for their interests and fostering an environment conducive to their growth. One of the primary benefits for both small and large businesses lies in the networking opportunities the Chamber offers. Connections made through Chamber membership and sponsorship can open doors to collaborations, partnerships, and new clientele. For startups and smaller enterprises, these connections can be a lifeline, providing access to mentorship, guidance, and exposure to a larger audience. Larger businesses benefit from networking by gaining insights into local market dynamics and potential partnerships that can enhance their reach and impact. Moreover, the Redmond Chamber of Commerce serves as a knowledge hub, offering resources, workshops, and seminars tailored to address the unique challenges faced by businesses of varying sizes. For smaller businesses with limited resources, these workshops can provide valuable insights into marketing strategies, financial management, and navigating regulatory landscapes.

The Redmond Chamber of Commerce doesn’t just create connections; it fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie among businesses. Engaging in Chamber events and activities will not only expand your business’s professional networks but will also cultivate a sense of community among fellow members right here in Redmond. This synergy often leads to collaborative efforts that benefit all involved, fostering an environment where all of our business members thrive collectively. Additionally, the Chamber’s initiatives often extend beyond individual business interests, contributing to the overall economic growth of Redmond, Oregon. By aligning with the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, your business will position itself as an active contributor to the local economy, which can yield long-term dividends in terms of goodwill and community support.

In short, financial planning often involves scrutinizing expenses to maximize returns. Including a Chamber membership or sponsorship opportunities in the budget for the upcoming year is a prudent move and isn’t merely an expense; it’s an investment in the present and future success of your business as well as an investment into our community. Regardless of business size, the cost of membership pales in comparison to the benefits and marketing exposure reaped throughout the year. Membership fees and sponsorship dollars grant access to invaluable resources therefore, this expenditure serves as a forwardthinking decision, aligning business interests with a vibrant local community that is dedicated to mutual success. So as your business’s financial planning for the upcoming year unfolds, give us a call at (541) 923-5191 or email membership@visitredmondoregon. com, and let us be a part of your strategic move for 2025 that transcends cost and emerges as a wise business decision for you and your organization. We hope that you all have a safe and wonderful holiday season and look forward to working with all of you again next year!

Happy Holidays!

NEWS FROM Winter Season Golfing At Crooked

River Ranch Golf Course

The beauty about Crooked River Ranch is we are in the Central Oregon ‘Banana Belt’, meaning most rain and snow moves around us, thus operations remain open almost year-round. However, we may incur various winter systems that may dump large amounts of snow that results in closing the golf course temporarily. Crooked River Ranch Golf Course is fortunate to be one of a hand full of courses that remain open in the winter months here in Central Oregon. Most courses close for the winter season except for those north of Bend Oregon they remain open year-round.

Winter golf yields a small window of opportunity to get your ‘game in’ for the day! The regular winter hours are 8:00am-4:30pm. CRR Golf Course runs ‘shot-gun’ starts Monday through Thursday beginning at 10:30am. This means every golfer gets assigned a hole in the golf shop, then all golfers start their game at the same time and finish at the same time. CRR runs regular tee times through the end of February on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Golfers will be able to hit range balls off the driving range mats, using rubber tees on top of the turf to tee their ball up on the frozen ground. Winter rates for 18 holes is $33 walking or $50 riding and for 9 holes is $19 walking or $30 riding. Crooked River Ranch property owners receive a discounted rate. The Pro Shop winter minimal staff will have three people total with at least one staffer in the shop daily to answer phones, sell merchandise, tend to the driving range and carts outside along with all the inside duties. On rare occasions the shop will be closed due to dangerous snow and ice conditions on the roads. This is communicated to our guests through email blasts, signage in the shop and with phone calls made to those scheduled to golf that day.

As for the Grounds Maintenance, the greens crew will continue to rotate flag locations on the putting greens. They will spray winter pesticides on the turf and the irrigation system will be blown out at the end of Fall. As for the golfer’s cart maintenance, it’s suggested to keep cart batteries up to proper water levels and maintain the air in the tires.

It is still a beautiful time of year, you just need to be a little more strategic when and where you play your game. For the first time winter golfer, be sure to bundle up with the proper gear such as gloves, sunglasses, hand warmers all available in the Pro Shop and stay hydrated. A suggestion to staying warm is to walk the course instead of using a cart. Although some private carts have covers or heaters, the ranch rental carts do not, and the carts drive poorly in the snow and ice.

Crooked River Ranch Pro Shop Manager Jeff Robinson and his staff are here to make your winter game a memorable one in hopes of bringing you back to experience the summer season course here in Crooked River Ranch.
