Get out and about
Urban explorers can take the METRO Green Line to the Little Mekong District for XIAART and on to the Creative Enterprise Zone. This artsy neighborhood is home to the annual Chroma Zone Mural & Art Festival and Can Can Wonderland, a popular family and datenight destination for artist-designed mini golf, live entertainment and arts-infused performances. Hunt for it
Look for Sidewalk Poetry under your feet in 1,000 spots around town. Vibrant murals adorn buildings in the Creative Enterprise Zone, Snelling and Selby Avenues, and beyond. Public art pops up in parks like Phalen, with its playful Marimba Benches, and in the larger than life Western Sculpture Park near the Capitol. Love for Lowertown With its warehouses, railroads and river access, Lowertown was Minnesota’s manufacturing hub at the turn of the 19th century. Today, the neighborhood is a vibrant artists’ quarter filled with galleries, restaurants, breweries, the stunning CHS Field, a farmers’ market and more. Ta-coumba Aiken is one of the artists and community activists who led the area’s creative transformation into an urban village. year for the Saint Paul Art Crawl. His artworks grace spaces throughout Saint Paul, including the 117-by-33-foot “Be Nice!” mural visible from the light rail stop outside of Union Depot. Go inside the historic train station to see “Forever Saint Paul,” featuring the world’s most Lite-Brite pegs ever used in a painting.
