How to get to Subotica Location Subotica is located in the north of Serbia approximately 180 km from Belgrade, near the border with Hungary. It is 200 km from Budapest (Hungary) and 240 km from Timisoara (Romania). Ideally located at the crossroads of nations and countries, it represents the meeting point of people now and centuries ago. By Air Subotica's city center and major hotels and meeting properties are located approximately 2.5h drive via highway from Belgrade International Airport, and approximately the same distance from Budapest International Airport and Timisoara Airport. For small and privately owned airplanes, as well as charter flights, Szeged Airport in Hungary may be used, then add a 25-minute bus ride to Subotica.

By Train Subotica is connected to the rest of Europe by extensive railway network. Every day international train arrivals and departures guarantee timely service.
By Road Subotica is easily reached by car or bus from Belgrade or Budapest since international highway E-75 provides excellent access to the city. Regular bus coaches provide connections to all of Serbia and most of the neighboring European countries.

A hundred-year old farmhouse hosts an interesting ethno and archeological collection of items found in the vicinity of the lake. These amazing golden collages come about through the dance of light and shadows, revealing the countless shades of the straw's color transferring the scent of earth, summer days, laughter, and tears within them. Moreover, there are also cornstalk figures, decorative items of homemade felt, embroidered hem, ceramics, and pottery. They can be bought at the City Souvenir Shop located on Liberty Square.

Significant events make this city the cultural center of the region and one of the most important ones is the International European Film Festival held in second half of July. Especially significant are traditional ethnic events related to the culture and customs of the people who live in Subotica, and among them Dužijanca and Etnofest are the most visited ones.
Subotica is also famous for its wine and wine celebrations, so events that celebrate good harvest and great sandy wine are often organized. A Subotica landmark, the City Hall is the place to start your dream. Rising above the pedestrian zone, it dominates the panorama. Going further via a road where prestigious families and merchants built their palaces, you will arrive at Sokol Home, and just nearby is Raichle Palace. Years ago it was the home of the famous architect Ferenc Raichle and today it proudly stands and shows off the playful pastel colors that emphasize the building's magnificent details. The Raichle Palace is the most stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture.
The old XV century church and its remains have been used as the foundations for the new Franciscan. Certainly one of the most striking buildings in Subotica, and a building of enormous importance, is the Synagogue. Today, the object that is under the protection of the government is under reconstruction phase, but remains the most beautiful sacral building decorated in the Art Nouveau style.

Kelebija is the largest horse farm of Lipizzaner in Serbia. Enjoy the rich collection of carriages, sledges, and harness with historical and emotional value. The Zoo Garden Palić is situated in the center of Palić and spreads on 10 hectares. Pure Elegance, the City of Sombor The graceful town of Sombor lies some 30 minutes from Subotica, close to the Danube River. You will be inspired by the “fiaker” coach, a key feature of the town. A ride in a “fiaker” through the city center is a must for anyone who comes to Sombor.
Bicycle is a must in Sombor. You will immediately notice that everyone, young and old, rides a bicycle, so join them. Every tavern, shop, and official building reserves parking for the town’s two-wheelers.
The town's beautiful main square features several baroque-style buildings and the classical-style Town Hall. In the XIX century Prefecture Building, you will be astonished by “The Battle of Senta” painting by F. Eisenhut with its dimensions of t w e n t y - e i g h t s q u a re m e t e r s, representing Serbia largest painting. In addition, the Prefecture Building has as many rooms as there are days in the year and is therefore an impressive structure.
Milan Konjović Gallery is a must see as well. The famous painter studied art in Prague and Paris at the beginning of the XX century, and now you can visit his legacy. Another Sombor native art painter, Sava Stojkov, known for his unique e nv i ro n m e n t d e p i c t i o n s a n d photorealistic style, has his paintings exhibited in the Gallery of the Preparandija.
The square’s Pasha Tower, popularly called Small Montmartre, has been restored to house the ateliers of Sombor’s artists.
One can end the visit to Sombor and have a late lunch in one of the famous farmhouses in the middle of Pannonian plain.
Perfect Gateway, the Town of Senta Senta lies approximately 30 minutes from Subotica, on the banks of the Tisa River. Here, Tisa is very calm with a lot of meanders and a rich flora and fauna.
Senta is known in history for the famous battle near Senta in 1697, when the Turkish army was heavily defeated by the Hungarians and after which the Turkish army did not recover at all.
Senta is also famous for Art Nouveau buildings. The Town Hall with its 50meters high massive tower has the characteristics of Hungarian Art Nouveau. From the tower there is an extraordinary panoramic view of Senta and its surroundings. 32
But the greatest example of this style in Senta is the fire station. The Royal Hotel, another Art Nouveau building, was reconstructed in the original plan and is now open to visitors. The Museum of Senta, the Art gallery and, the Memorial House of 19th century famous Serbian writer Stevan Sremac, as well as the Memorial Lookout Tower of the Battle of Senta can be visited all year round. Since the banks of the River Tisa were inhabited from the prehistoric times, museum visitors can admire rich paleontological, archeological, local historical finds, and ethnographic collections. Lastly, do not miss a boat ride on the River Tisa and try the unique fish soup.

Cure for body and soul, the Kanjiža Spa Kanjiža is 40 km east of Subotica and only 15 km away from the SerbianHungarian border. It is situated on the right bank of the Tisa River. This scenic area is a popular destination for those seeking a quiet and relaxing getaway. Kanjiža is often referred to as the “town of stillness”.
Visitors come here to enjoy the healing powers of the Kanjiža’s thermal baths. The therapeutic water has been exploited from three wells. One of these wells contains sodium hydro-carbonated sulfurous water (78°C) that is used in curing rheumatic problems. It is also used for recreational purposes.
Guests also have access to a large number of sport facilities: two indoor pools, sauna, solarium, gym, sports hall, athletics track, courts for volleyball, basketball, handball, and tennis and football pitches. There is a beach on the River Tisa and the river itself is ideal for water-sports and angling. Famous for a natural phenomenon where clouds of white-winged insects emerge on the river’s surface every June. Known as Tisa blooming, it resembles flowers. Bathe in Kanjiža Spa's indoor swimming pool filled with mineral water, stroll in the spacious park, eat a delicious fish-paprikash in one of the restaurants on the banks of the Tisa River.
Nature at your Fingertips, Town of Bačka Topola Bačka Topola is approximately a 20minute ride from Subotica, on the beautiful Zobnatica Lake. Bačka Topola is characterized by one of the largest nature parks in Vojvodina's very rich flora and the small Krivaja River which runs through the park. The town itself has significant edifices in baroque style, with the Catholic Church from 1905 built in pseudoGothic style. The church tower is 74 meters high and dominates this little town. An old Dutch look-alike windmill is located on the Zobnatica Lake as well. This windmill today serves as an ethnology museum for many visitors throughout the year. Do not miss the castle of the Kray family, dating back to 1802.
The town has four artificial lakes which are suitable for recreation. Lake Zobnatica has a nice beach with a few cafés and children' s play ground.
The horse farm, located a few kilometers from Bačka Topola, was founded in 1750.
The famous stud farm and race course, with a manège, are at the heart of the tourism and leisure facility. Horseback riding on highbred horses for children and adults with or without training, coach rides and vintage hunting coach rides are offered here. The complex also has an Equestrian Museum. 33
