Holiday Homes www.piirissaare.ee If you wish to retreat from civilisation for a few hours, then Piirissaar is a great place to relax and enjoy the nature. The small 7.7 km2 island between Lake Peipus and Lake Lämmijärv has three villages (Piiri, Tooni, and Saare). Most of the inhabitants of Piirissaar are Russian Old Believers whose main activities include fishing and growing onions. Summer is the best time to visit as there are regular boat trips to and from the island via Seto Line (www.setoline.ee). During winter, you ought to contact the local border guard station about the ice conditions on the lake.
