Shrine of Remembrance

Victoria’s state memorial to Australians who have served in war and peacekeeping and a popular and distinct landmark of Melbourne. Find peaceful reflection in the Sanctuary and explore the Galleries of Remembrance illustrating the experience of Australian service people through time.

The Balcony offers breathtaking vistas of Melbourne and oversees the Shrine’s 13-hectare Reserve and Second World War Memorial Forecourt where the Eternal Flame has burned since 1954. Tours are available hourly. Free entry.

Travellers Aid provides travel-related support and aid, including to people with disabilities to ensure safe passage. This not-for-pro t operation has been helping travellers for almost 100 years. Some services attract a small fee, charged by sta and volunteers. Travellers Aid is located at Southern Cross Station (open seven days from 6.30am to 9.30pm) and Flinders Street Station (open seven days from 8am to 8pm).

myki is a reusable travel card, and it’s your ticket for trains, trams and buses in Melbourne and many parts of regional Victoria. To get started, buy a myki card or get a digital myki card on your Android phone.

Buy your physical myki card and top up

You can buy and top up your myki at hundreds of shops (including all 7-Eleven stores), myki machines and station ticket o ces. As a guide, $10 will get you around Melbourne for a day, with a little change. For more on fares, visit the website below.

Free Tram Travel

The city’s Free Tram Zone includes the city centre and extends from Queen Victoria Market to Docklands, including Spring Street, Flinders Street Station and Federation Square (Free Tram Zone shown on Melbourne City Map and Melbourne tram network map).

If you’re only travelling in the Free Tram Zone you don’t need a myki.

Travel on the City Circle Tram (tram route 35) is also free. Hop on and o the historical trams as often as you like. You don’t need a myki if you’re only travelling on the City Circle Tram.

Regional Victoria

With the largest public transport network in Australia, Victoria’s trains and coaches can take you to many parts of regional Victoria. Simply make your way to V/Lines passenger hub at Southern Cross Station and the sta will help you plan your next adventure.
