WISCONSIN RAPIDS Originally named by Native Americans “Ah-dah-wa-gam” meaning two sided rapids, as the once rushing rapids of the Wisconsin River were divided by a great boulder. The county seat of Wood County celebrated the centennial of its name in 2020, consolidating the two early towns of Centralia on the west side of the river and Grand Rapids on the east. Today, Wisconsin Rapids provides the access to services and infrastructure of a city: technology, blossoming industry, recognized education, healthcare, creative retail shops and restaurants along with abundant recreation and cultural opportunities, while continuing the Midwestern charm and hospitality of hometown.

The Wisconsin Rapids area is known as cranberry country and proud of it! Our unique agricultural heritage makes the blossom and harvest seasons special to our area. Early settlers thought cranberry blossom resembled the head of a crane, hence the name “crane berry,” which was later shortened to cranberry. Cranberry blossoms are pretty, delicate, pink flowers that bloom in late June through early July. The harvest season, is the most picturesque time for cranberries, and it occurs late September through late October.

Bull’s Eye Golf Club is an outstanding golf course overlooking the beautiful Wisconsin River, with affordable rates and fantastic conditions. This par-72 golf course stretches over 6,600 yards from the back tees and will test your accuracy with their tree-lined fairways, well placed sand bunkers and spectacular putting surfaces. Bull’s Eye Golf Club’s goal is to provide you with a quality experience that includes exceptional service and a comfortable atmosphere.

The Ridges is sometimes looked upon as a course with two distinctly different nine hole layouts. The front nine has more length and man-made hazards while God made the hazards of the back nine. The back nine is heavily wooded and begins on an actual ridge with a tee shot that overlooks towering pines, the Buena Vista Creek and the flourishing valley floor more than 80 feet below. Ask our members, and they’ll tell you that at The Ridges it is often best to leave the driver in your bag when you make the turn! The front nine has its challenges, but the back nine is undeniably different.
