BREATHE MORE EASILY! Brits Get “No-Deal” Assurance THE RIGHTS of British nationals living legally in Spain are to be guaranteed in the case of a “no-deal” Brexit, thanks to a Royal Decree which is set to be approved by the Spanish cabinet today. The formal announcement was made by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Wednesday, who said that he hoped that the UK government would offer the same deal to Spaniards in Britain if the country crashes out of the EU with no agreement. The Spanish government promised a “no-deal” contingency

package to reassure British residents back in December, with Greece last week passing a law to guarantee UK nationals their rights. The measures in the Royal Decree cover a wide range of issues including trade, legal and crimefighting cooperation. “The aim is to preserve the rights of Spanish and British citizens, as well as keeping a normal flow of trade and safeguarding Spanish economic interests,” said Sanchez in a speech to Spain´s
parliament. “My main priority is to guarantee that the UK’s decision to leave the EU would have the smallest possible impact on citizens and businesses,” he added. Sanchez also referred to Theresa May promising a parliamentary vote on extending the Article 50 deadline if her deal is voted down. “We will not oppose a UK delay”, said Sanchez, “but prolonging uncertainty by just delaying and not coming up with an alternative is not desirable”.
