centres and clinics and says it is planning to increase the number of vaccinations on offer, with over 28 thousand people getting the jab in last winter’s campaign. The vaccines are available free to groups like the over-65’s; people with existing conditions who may suffer complications from flu; pregnant women; and children with certain ailments. Vicente García Román, the head of
Preventive Medicine at Torrevieja Hospital said:-”It is very important that vaccinations be carried out every year, because the protection from a previous jab reduces, and also there are different strains of flu each winter”. “Flu vaccines are highly safe despite the rumours that swirl around, and the campaign has started now because it normally takes a fortnight for the antibodies to kick in,” .Dr. Román added.
